I think Eragon will be bigger then Harry Potter and The Lord Of The Rings.

nobody that i know acually knows the meaning of lord of the rings, but harry potter might have some compitition!!!! and untill now, i just found out that's there's a movie coming out!!! THAT IS SOOO COOL!!!!!

LOTR will never bettered I do not think. Eragon could be a more enjoyable movie but not better.
Plus hardly anyone I know has even heard of the inheritance saga so I think people will mainly go if they see the trailers and think it looks good.

If Eragon was comin out july it would have been anounced with pirates of the carribean 2 on all the upcoming movie shows i watched. Although I hope you are right about july.

Eragon I think will be another block buster. CP originally thought up the story to be a movie but couldn't see how it would become one so he wrote it as a book that is why it feels like a movie when you are reading it. I know I will be watching it as often as possible.

Unfortunatly Eragon will be better than neither. It is a better book tha Harry potter, equal to Lord of the rings. However Lord of the rings is unstoppable, incredible, amazing film. Harry potter will always have appeal from children. Eragon isnt as popular but will get more popular upon film realease, just wont over take either.

i have seen LOTR about 10 times and i still don't get it. i'll try reading the book. but i do htink eragon will be really good. i wonder how they are going to do the whole thing where eragon adn saphira talk.

Eragon will be better then the Harry Potter flicks but not as good as Lord of the rings. The movie will be very succesful because of the fans and the people looking for some action or LOTrish flick.

I think fans will find the eragon movie best, but people who haven't read the books will prob like LOTR more. I mean it got awards for special effects and stuff, it will b hard to beat.

You have to remember that Eragon hasn't been out for decades like the LOTR Trilogy. It does not have as large of a multi-generational fanbase. Also, it does not have as many really famous actors. There are a lot of things hindering its rise in the box-office. But, of course, there'll be all of us, outside in the premier, dressed-up with dragon toys!

HA the movie is gunna be great for non readers cuz it will use cheap tricks to make it seem cool but for the real fans the readers it shall be an uder dissapointment... I FEAR THE RELEASE OF THIS MOVIE because it will ruin my taste for eragon. Its going to be some cheap rip off of some great book. Fox can really butcher concepts and movies.... For example theres these great movies that are the peak of sci fi movies: Alien Trilogy and Predator 1 and 2 Fox makes AVP and bruitally kills them and butchers the movies I left the theature with a bitter taste in my mouth

uh... you really sound like a fully seasoned movie critic... movies are movies and books are books. Eragon the movie will either be based on eragon the book or it will be an adaptation. It would not in any way whatsoever replace the book, and it won't be the book in movie format either. They are separate and while you can compare them with each other there is no reason to attack the movie just because you don't think it will be what your imagination created in your mind.

if this movie works out, it will teach me about how little filming has to do with the movie. like how the urgals don't have horns yet. they obviously(i hope) are going to make them CGI. the pics for the movie are unimpressive so far, but i still think it's going to end up fine.

Wow that is a big assumption. LOTR earned 13 Oscar nominations, and took home all of the 11 Academy Awards. So I think it has to be super to top the Trilogy.

well i know i like harry potter and lord of the rings but i really loved the books of eragon and eldest and thought that it really would be better than the two... just the way CP wrote it was really thrilling and really fascinating... and i really think the movie's gonna be a great hit...

I think the success of the movie will greatly depend on how well it is done. It is very easy to beat HP movies, 'cause they are very childish and the books are A LOT better imo.
LOTR is a lot harder to beat I think, because LOTR films were done pretty good.
"Eragon" has a very unique and fascinating story to "common ppl", but still I'm remaining a little sceptical about the whole thing. I mean the actor who plays Eragon looks too pretty imo. I imagined Eragon to be a bit rougher (a bit more like Aragorn in LOTR). The actor who plays Eragon looks like Eragon-"the elf" on the picture (you know what I'm talkin' about.. in the "Eldest"). And the fact that the Arya in the movie will (probably) be blonde, is clearly showing, that they might not be so accurate to the book.
But other than that I think if they follow the book allright, then this film could be awesome. Because books really blowed me away. LOTR's world and the myths and so on ("Silmarillion", the history of middle-earth for example) are so much more complete, but the books itself are way too hard to read compared to "Eragon" and "Eldest". Imo let's wait and see the films ourselves.. It's quite hard to predict on how good the film will be. The film compared to the book is one thing, other is how good will they promote it and so on..

think youre right... it really would be better if they really base the movie from teh book because itll show the true beauty of eragon "the inheritance trilogy" and so on and so forth....

but i really cant understand why they had to make arya's character blonde cause i have a picture of the actress and she's got black hair but im not pretty sure....

I think that Eragon will totally pwn LOTR and HP cos:

1: Like Harry Potter, Eragon has magic, better and cooler magic than HP and lot's of it hopefully

2: Although Eragon has some brutal fights, they are not as frequent and brutal as LOTR. In the whole trilogy there were about 10 big and medium fights. Eragon has 1 big one so far at the end of the book thereabouts and a couple of small ones with urgals and soldiers. Too much fighting takes up time and Eragon is a big book after all.

3: ERAGON HAS A COOL DRAGON IN IT!!! AND IT'S A FRIENDLY ONE TOO!! Not like all other movies where the dragon is .

Totally agree with you _arYa_! Female elves should be mostly brown haired. (Personally I like them better that way ) Arya in the movie should be too. However when they come to making Eldest the movie, in Du Weldenvarden, Ellesmera, the females should have hair brown or a dark blonde. The males should be platinum blonde like in LOTR or black haired.

NA, LOTR WILL BE BETTER. Even if they do do 3 movies for inheritence, you've got to remember, Lord of the Rings is a classic. As for Harry Potter, i wouldn't know.

It depends. Eragon will probably be a great movie with high ratings, but I dunno if a lot of people will go see it. If it's well advertised enough to get those who have never heard of CP or Eragon interested it could probably beat HP and/or LOTR. We might have LoTR fans interested, since that's simialar, but we have no Orlando Bloom, or so on yet. I think it'll start small, then grow, by eldest it'll probably be as big as if not bigger than HP and LOTR definitely.

LOTR has been around ALOT longer and I think more ppl have read it.
Don't get me wrong, Eragon looks super but I am just taking in the facts. I really, really hope that they don't mess this movie up.

haha how funny the add is on right now.... im not sure but i dont see the add as often as i see most of the other movie anyways ive seen the movie on the second day coz sadly i couldnt see it the day it came out but anyways when i went there wasnt that many people. I hink the movie was a little dissapointing. I dunno if it will beat HP and i dont care coz harry potter sux. And the books are sooo boring!
