 A Change for the Better?OOC: This is moainly for both Fanghur's, Crazydrgongirl's, and my characters, but it is open, however I do need you to stay active should you join, and also if you do join, not from everyone, but I need at least one good magic user. Also, this is a planned RPG, so before you do anything major please ask either myself or Fanghur.
U'lfr flew confidently through the mountains. He was fully at home here, he had no predators, or threats, he was the "king" of his domain. He had absolutely no worries. He landed on the top of a small hill. He looked about, and saw nothing, but there was a smell ... an odd smell. He sniffed about and picked up the scent. He, in all his years had never sensed a smell like it before, so he tracked it. He followed the scent all day, and deep into the night. It was close to midnight when he came within sight of "it". He watched it silently from the bushes and said, Who, and whaat are you, and why are you in my territory? The earlier, bolder U'lfr forgotten, and the new, scared, even terrifyed, U'lfr had replaced it. He flexed his claws and clacked his beak nervously. Re: A Change for the Better? Alucard smelt it, that beautiful scent. He first smelt it near the land the humans called Surda. It got stronger towards the east, near the mountains. He traveled for days following it. It tantalizing aroma made his made water, in thirst. It had been a long time since he had any. As he entered the mountains the scent only got stronger. He must have been marking his territory, Alucard thought, sniffing some of the rocks. Stupid creature, your only making it easier for me to find you! He jumped from cliff to cliff following the scent, the stronger it got the more excited Alucard got. The moon was floating in the sky when Alucard heard the voice. He smiled and laughed quietly to himself. Foolish gryphon. Though I must thank you for coming to me, and saving me the trouble of searching for you more, Alucard thought. He turned around slowly smiling graciously at the gryphon. "Forgive me for intruding, but, I heard a gryphon lived in these mountains. I always loved you kind and I only wish there was more of you. You are certainly one of a kind," Alucard said approaching the gryphon slowly.

Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr saw the man. He was very tall and slim. He had an odd air about him. He took a wary step back and said, That is close enough, come no closer. You say you have heard of me, I don't see how, I avoid most other creatures in these mountains. U'lfr narrowed hsi eyes at the man. He said, What are you, I have seen humans before, they always avoid comign this deep, what makes you so different? he took another step back and another. This guy was wierd, and extremely scary. He looked at the man, the evil light in his eyes. He took another and prepaired to fly...

Re: A Change for the Better? His eyes shining through the darkness, Alucard smiled wider then before. He took in a deep breath through his nose, embracing the intoxication scent of the gyphon's blood. Alucard narrowed his eyes as the gryphon stepped away a readied himself to fly away. Your not getting away from me! He yelled in his mind. He pushed himself forward at an amazing speed, before the gryphon new it, Alucard was on his neck, holding his beak shut, and pulling his head back almost to the point to where his neck would snap. "Smart boy,"He whispered viciously into his ear. "Your right, I am no human and I didn't hear about you. I followed your scent all the way from Surda, you made it so easy for me; the way you continuously marked your scent on every rock that you passed," Alcuard said into the gryphon ear. He opened his mouth, fangs now in place, and pierced the gryphon's throat, drinking the blood as it poured from the wound. He was almost finished when something knocked him twenty feet away from the gryphon, as got up to see what stopped him from finishing his meal, something stopped him from getting any closer to the gryphon. A magical shield! "No!!" He screamed banging against the magical wall.

Re: A Change for the Better? For the past week or so, Nardia had been exploring the beors with Allinya. She wanted to create a map of them, a very descriptive map. A map that showed every cave and stream, every valley and every cliff. She knew it would take a long time. She didn't really expect to finish it in her entire life. She was taking it bit by bit, a month or so of mapping, leave, then later, come back. She also wanted to record which andimals lived where, so she'd shifted into a wolf so as not to scare the animals off.
Suddenly, she stiffened. Her sensitive wolf ears had picked up a noise that didn't entirely fit. She shifted into an bird, so as to go faster, and began flying toward the sound. She heard a voice. She saw U'lfr. And someone else, who wasn't being particularly friendly. Watching the stranger's actions, she decided he was a vampire. Nardia shifted into human form, drew her sword, and used magic to solidify the air and throw the vampire back several yards. She stepped out into the open. "Hello, U'lfr. Looks like you've got a problem." She turned to the vampire, and her tone remained friendly, but her smile had a very clear warning. Quit it and be nice, unless you want to end up dead. Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr had no time to think, no time to react before the vampire was upon him. He felt a searing pain in his neck, then all was silent.
He looked about after feeling as if he had fallen asleep for days. It was dark and there was an evil looking man not far from him. He dodn't really feel anything other than a thirst, a powerful, mind numbing thirst. He looked at the woman beside him and vaguely remembered her, something about a large forest. He shakily stood and narrowed his eyes. He said, W- Where am I? he opened his mouth, and an odd sound came out. It was like a screech, but is bounced off of the surrounding trees, as well as the people. Then he said, Where am I?!!! _________________ Role-Playing Characters: Ara The dragon of illusion. Re: A Change for the Better? Alucard's eyes widened as he noticed the gryphon's body temperature dropping. He was dying, well sort of. He was turned into one of them, a vampire. That stupid girl wouldn't be able to save him, He focused his pain illusion on the girl, it wasn't strong, but it was strong enough to distract her from focusing on the shield. Once the wall was weakened Alucard broke through, he charged from the girl, pushing her away from the gryphon. "Stay away unless you want to die!" He warned in a powerful voice. Damn it, damn it! He cursed as the gryphon painfully changed into a vampire. It took ten minutes. The gryphon's eyes had completely changed color. They were now a blood thirsty red. Alucard quickly covered his ears as the gyphon let out a screech. "Stay back, being a newborn, he'll be very thirsty," He warned the girl again, in a much quieter voice. Alucard smiled, like how a father would smile looking down at his newborn baby. "Don't worry, you are in no danger. Welcome to your new life."

Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr's thirst was amazing. He looked at the man. He remembered hsi name, and his family, but nothing more. He looked at the man and felt as if he coudl trust him. He said, Who and what am I? asked the vampire/gryphon as he looked at the woman. He opened hsi beak slowly. He could smell the blood of the woman, even hear her breathing. He could see the places where the blood ost acumulated. He moved closer. His thirst drawing him toward her. He was almost upon her, when somethign stopped him. He looked at the woman, then the man and leapt into the air. He flew hard and fast. Not long after, he landed. He felt sick, horribly so. He fell down and passed out.

Re: A Change for the Better? "I have yet to learn your name. As for what you are, you, are the first vampire gryphon," Alucard told him. He was always good with newborns, but he was a little bit wary about this one, he was a special case. He too looked at the woman, he could hear her heartbeat quicken in fear as the newborn approached her. "Hm?" He was surprised when the gryphon stopped, he regain his composer, rare for a newborn. He looked at the woman one more time before changing into his other form and flying after the gryphon. He hovered above him for awhile after he passed out. Alucard flew off in search of a meal for his ... "son." A young male buck was perfect. He dove down and grabbed the deer by the antlers. He flew back to the unconscious gryphon. He changed back to his human form upon landing. The buck was still alive, but it was paralyzed in fear. Alucard waited for the gryphon to wake up and quench his thirst.

Re: A Change for the Better? Nardia watched in alarm as, in ten minutes flat, U'lfr was turned from an ordinary griffin into... Something else. He began moving towards Nardia, then he stopped and flew away. The vampire turned into a huge, winged creature and also flew off. For a few moments Nardia was frozen, her mind in a whirl. Then she started to look for U'lfr, before realizing that might not be the best idea. Instead, she reached out with her mind and found him. "U'lfr? U'lfr, are you alright?"

Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr woke to a wonderful aroma. The man was standing there. He could not believe it. In front of him, was a wonderfully fat deer, a male, and a large one at that. He walked toward it, almost like some primeval beast. He growled at the man as a warnign not to interrupt him, or get into his way. He looked at the fear in the deer's eyes, but did not care. He sunk his beak into the deer and began to drink the blood. He drank and drank, until it no longer came. He screeched to the skies and said, I am U'LFR!!! and I thirst! When he heard the woman, he thought and said, Alright? No, I am more than alright, I am perfect. I am complete. He looked at the man and said, You completed me. and bowed his head slightly.

Re: A Change for the Better? Alucard hissed back at the gryphon, warning him that he was much more powerful and not to disrespect his superior. But nonetheless Alucard backed away from him and allowed him to drink. Alucard smirked at the gryphon's acceptance to his new lifestyle. When the gryphon bowed, Alucard raised his eyebrow of a moment, luckily for him he didn't seem to remember the moments right before he changed into a vampire. "Greetings, I am Alucard," He said lowering his own head. "I bet, that deer didn't fill you up. Come let us hunt," Alucard said motioning for him to take off into the air. Once the gryphon was off, Alucard transformed and leaped into the air after him.

Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr leapt into the air and flew fast. He screeched again and found that he could in a way see with his newfound ability. He flapped his wings harder and flew faster and faster, until he was a mere blur in the night sky. He said, I am U'lfr by the way and why can I fly so fast? asked the vampire/gryphon as he flew through the sky. He observed the grotesque figure next to him and said, Why do you change form, yet I do not?

Re: A Change for the Better? "So you can be the perfect predator," Alucard told U'lfr, "Everything about has been improved, your flight, strength, senses, and your mind," He continued to explain. "I can only guess, but I think it's because you already have wings or your own. Normal vampires change so they can fly and fight larger creatures like dragons... or gryphons, and since you were already capable of doing that, you don't need this other form. But thats only a theory, who knows what else is different about you. Your the first gryphon ever turned into a vampire," He told him. He smelt a herd of mountain goat and flew swiftly after the creatures. He found them climbing up the mountain side, a perfect spot for the two of them to swipe their prey. Alucard dove towards one of the males, lightning fast he grabbed it and bit into it's throat with his fangs.

His powerful beak snapped into one of the goads and immediately he felt the warm blood running down his throat. He drank until the goad was dry and then said, Good, but nothing nearly as good as that deer. Why do you cover your ears when I screech? asked the gryphon/vampire as he looked at the man. He said, Why were you there when I was ... reborn?

Re: A Change for the Better? When Alucard was finished he threw the goat's dry body to the ground. As he landed on one of mountain cliffs Alucard changed back. He politely wiped his mouth of any blood, and ran his finger through his hair. "Well, you probably like it so much because in your past life you ate them. I'm not sure why, but I adore..." Alucard stopped himself from saying anymore. He turned around thinking of the best possible answer. "Why? I tjink a smart boy like you can figure it out," Alucard said smoothly. He placed his hands behind his back and walked a few steps forward. I wonder how that girl is doing.

He said, But ... why. Had I done something to you to cause you to try to kill me? And... well ... in a way succeed? asked the gryphon/vampire in a somewat melancholy manner. He looked at the man and said, Is this the reast of my unending life, going from one place to another, killing the inhabitance, dcrinking their blood, then moving on after everything is dead?

Re: A Change for the Better? Alucard stiffed, he felt ... guilty. Anyone that turned into a vampire because of him, he though of like a child, even if he didn't mean to change them. "Yes." Alucard answered honestly. "Your favorite is deer, mine is gryphon. It had been a longtime, since I had any gryphon blood. Unlike deer, you gryphon's aren't so common. So the second I smelt you scent, I ran after you, how could I resist? I almost finished you off, when that girl cam in a interrupted me. If she hadn't blocked me from you with a magical wall, I probably would have finished you off, along with her," Alucard told him brutally honest, with a hint of guilt. He turned around at U'lfr's next question. He walked towards him and looked at him straight in the eye. "No. It's not," Alucard told him, he drew his sword and pointed it at U'lfr's head. "I could always kill you, if you want."

Re: A Change for the Better? What do you mean, the undead are ... un dead, which means thay can't die, isn't that right? asked the vampire/gryphon. He was a little angry at the fact that his previous life had been lost to him, but he would survive it. And, besided, he had super speed, strength, and senses, he was the perfect gryphon, even if he was dead. He backed away frmo the other vampire and said, If you can kill me, then I am able to do the same. said the gryphon, then he remembered, His sister, and her famil were to the North, he had to make sure that Alucard never went North, else his family would likely die out. then he saw the vampire watching him. He said, Is it still possible to have a mate when you are like this?

He lowered his sword a bit, "Yes, you do have the capability to kill me, but you don't how. U'lfr, I don't want to kill you, if you can't handle this lifestyle, then I will end it for you! But only if you wish it!" Alucard yelled at him. Denial. Every newborn goes through it. It even harder for those that had good hearts in their past like; like the way Alucard did, but he got over it. Alucard eyed the gryphon as he backed away, thinking about something, and Alucard had a good idea on what it was. But U'lfr next question came to him as a surprise. "Yes, but only if the males and females are old enough to mate. But most of us don't because we usually think of the newborns we created as our child."

Re: A Change for the Better? So, if you wanted, you could mate with a human female, and have a child, and in a way, this makes me ... your son? asked the gryphon in an odd manner. He pondered the question and said, Is it always like that ... I mean when you feel the urge to drink, you can't stop yourself? It is like you will die without that blood ... you know, I nearly killed her. But, something stopped me... like something in my past life forced me to leave. said the gryphon/vampire in an odd way. He did not dislike this, but it was ... different.

He lowered he sword even more, if U'lfr was going to ask questions it means he's considering staying like this. "Blood is our energy source, the same way meat is humans and carnivores, plants are to elves and herbivores. But we can survive a bit longer without it. You know, I was surprised by you restraint. For newborns like yourself, the desire to thirst is usually so great, they kill the first living thing they see. Whether it be a spider, or a dog, or a human. I'm guessing you two had a strong friendship, when I was reborn, I managed to sustain myself from killing my father."

Re: A Change for the Better? If I were to have a child, with another gryphon, would it be normal? I mean, like a regular gryphon? asked the vampire/gryphon. He looked deep into himself and said, If you knew of another live gryphon in the area, would you hunt it down and try to do it as me, only succeed? If you knew where other gryphons were, would you try to wipe them from the face of the earth? asked the gryphon/vampire to the man. He said, Umm, just how can I get killed, and when you start eating one thing, will you normally stick with that one thing, or will you end up havingot have more and more blood, beccause I would prefer to stay out of the war.... Hey, I remembered something, there is a war!

But, I'm just making guesses," Alucard told him. He burst out laughing at his next question, it was the kind of laugh that would send a chill down your spine. "U'lfr! Thats ridiculous!" Alucard exclaimed placing his arm around the gryphon's large neck. "I would never, eradicate the gryphons. I only wish there was more of them! That way there would be more for me to drink! The reason I attacked you was because it had been so long since I had tasted gryphon blood. Can you imagine yourself going decades without deer blood? But, luckily over the years I became much more patient. So, I shall wait till the gryphons have repopulated the land."

He smiled and patted the gryphon on the back, "I promise you U'lfr, I will not attack yur family; I do have composer." Alucard walked away from U'lfr finally putting his sword away. He walked over to he edge of the cliff and looked as the sun started to brake the horizon. He looked back as U'lfr yawned a laughed. "Your not tired are you? Little fact, we vampires don't need sleep. And don't worry to much about the sun,we should be fine as long as it doesn't get to bright; and if it does there'res plenty of shady caves for us to dwell in," Alucard assured U'lfr. "No. I can't teach anything I don't know. Those powers of yours are your own, no one can teach you but yourself. If I could do it, so can you."

So, this means that I will not be able to fly in the Sun anymore? asked the vampire/gryphon as he slowly stood up and walked into a cave. He walked into the cave and turned back, just as the light of the Sun came up. It did not overly hurt him, but it did irritate his skin some. He walked deeper into the cave and lay down. He stared at the walls, he could easily see every single crature squirming in them. He stared harder and coudl tell where the deeper animals were by the warmth of their blood. He said, I can partially see the warmth of their blood, is that normal?

As the sun got higher Alucard covered his eyes, he followed U'lfr into the dark cave. AS his eye adjusted to the darkness, they glowed an eerie glow. He could now see everything. "Of course it is. Your vision has been enhanced ten fold," Alucard said, sitting down next to him. "You know U'lfr I don't even know what you special power is. Care to enlighten me?"

I can see the best places to bite them for the most blood, fastest. said the gryphon/vampier to the other vampire. He said, What is your power? I mean, if I can see heat, even from a distance, then surely you have some sort of power, and you have been a vampire for a while now, because there is absolutely no heat watsoever in or on you.

But you still have yet to master all of your abilities," he continued. Alucard laughed at U'lfr's comment, "Yes, it's be odd if I did have any body heat. My power? I trick the mind into feeling pain. Do you remember when you turned into a vampire? That horrible burning inside you? That's what it's like," Alucard said with a malicious smile on his face. "Example," he motioned towards a bat that was hanging above them. He smirked at the mammal and suddenly it dropped to the ground. It started to thrash around, as it made high pitch squeaking noises. It looked like it was about to die, when it stopped thrashing around. The bat got up and shook it's head, disoriented, and flew deeper into the cave. "And that, wasn't even my full power."

Re: A Change for the Better? Hmm, so seeing body heat isn't my power then, if every other vampire has it.... Hmm, do you think... said U'lfr as he walked toward the entrance. He closed his eyes tightly and screeched as loudly as he could. He heard the screch reverbreate off of the trees, but he knew exactly when it hit an animal, and by it, he could even partially tell what the size, and type of animal it was. He came back deeper in the cave and asked, Do you think that maybe that screechign thing could be my power, like I can screech and kind of see, or maybe even paralyz some victems? asked the vampire/gryphon.

He was perfectly still while U'lfr tied to leaned more about his powers, he wasn't even breathing or he wasn't looking like he was breathing. When U'lfr spoke to him again, it looked like a statue had suddenly come to life.

Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr did as he was told and went over to a rat who was too stupid to flee from the two of them. He put his beak close to the rat and opened it. He breated deeply and focused all his energy into the screech, it was so loud, it echoed across the mountains, then the rat fell on its size, at elast partially paralyzed. He looked up at his "teacher" and said, It worked! And, sorry, I may have brought un-wanted attention to us with that one, the dwarves in this area are ... very ... supersticious, and have suspected that a large creature, me, was up here all along, they may come up here and try to find us...

Re: A Change for the Better? "Anything we want. Study, train, kill people, save people, normal stuff, just for a lot longer than most. I have an idea to pass the time. Come over here," Alucard motioned to the mouth of the cave. "Stay in this spot, your not in direct sunlight, but it'll help your body get used to the sun," Alucard told him. As he walked out of the cave, he quickly covered his, so they could adjust to the brightness. After years of his own training, he could handle the sun's early brightness toady. "I'll be right back," he changed shape and flew off. He was following the scent of that shape shifting girl, this girl could help U'lfr's training in maintaining his composer if he was ever around other gryphons, dragons, humans, or anything else. He found her camping out near the mountain they were at hours ago. He dove down, grabbed the girl and brought her back to U'lfr.

She was examining the area when the vampire came back, picked her up and flew off with her. "Hey! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Allinya quickly took off into the air. Nardia struggled to get free, using magic to try to dislodge the vampire's grip.

Re: A Change for the Better? Alucard's grip was tight on the girl even with her magic. He flew quickly, dying to get out of the sun. He plopped the girl in front of U'lfr and darted into the darkness of the cave and changed back. Two reasons. For you, and me. This girl will help you with resistance. If were able to stop yourself from killing her before, you should be able to do it again, but if you can't, ran away. I also think she will help you remember things from your past life. And the reason for me is because I really haven't interacted with a human for awhile now, Alucard said to U'lfr through his mind, if he had spoken any of that, the girl would probably have gotten frightened and run off.

Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr had his eyes closed, but when the woman talked to him, he opened them widely to allow her to see the deep red of his eyes. He said, You are here to help both of us, I cannot remember anything other than the fact that you may be one of my friends from past times, you are here for him, to help him re-learn how to communicate with humans. Also, whoever I was before, I am not now, I am now a vampire, much in the same way he is, the onyl difference is he has two forms, and I am not fully used to my powers.

Also, I need to warn you, you may want to bring a deer up here, and some time in the next hour or so. He could easily see the best places to bite her, the best one at the moment would be the najor veins and arteries in her leg, but he managed to keep himself where he was.

Her courage, was certainly one to be noted, she gets kidnapped and taken to a dark cave, with a vampire and a newborn gryphon/vampire and acts as if she's in no danger. Re: A Change for the Better? U'lfr ignored the woman as he tentatively stepped outside. It was quite dark, but it still bothered him. He leapt outside and screeched. It was a few seconds later that he found a large doe. He tracked it down and killed it with a quick slash of his beak. He picked up the deer and flew back to the cave, cursing each time some of the blood was spilt, and each time the clouds moved to allow the Sun through. When he landed, he swiftly drank all of the blood.

His two colored eyes shone ominously through the dark cave. He was about to say something to her, but U'lfr had returned with a doe in his jaw. When he started to drink the blood, Alucard looked over at the girl to see her reaction.

Soon after he left, U'lfr came back with a deer and began to drink its blood. Nardia glanced toward him, swallowed hard, and quickly glanced back away. When Alucard approached, Nardia stepped backwards, but he continued to approach. The jumpy feeling returned, and Nardia concentrated on his question to ignore it. "Well.. For a few minutes after i shift, it's disorienting, the change in senses and body. It takes a little while to get used to it. After that... Well, it depends on what i'm shifting into. If i shift into a bird, it always astonishes me, flying, being so high, seeing everything below me so small. If i try to shift into an elf, or dragon, or any of the other races of Alagaesia... Well, it's nearly impossible to obtain those forms in the first place, but i remember from the few times i tried that it was completely bewildering. But after so long, it became as exciting as walking," Alucard said to the girl. He walked past the girl and stood next to U'fr once again. "I wouldn't worry about that to much, I can tell the difference between a gryphon and a shape shifter, by their scent and body heat. Sooner or later you will be able to tell the difference as well U'lfr. Miss Nardia, would you mind telling me what the first creature you turned into was?" Alucard asked very politely.

U'lfr was enjoying talking, when eh heard something. It was distant, but he still heard it. It was like the clanking of aurmor. He looked about nervously, knowing that there was no escape, especially since the sun was comign out again. He sniffed the air. He looked at Alucard and said, I think the dwarves heard us ... me earlier, and I can't fly away, especially since the Sun is out. To Alucard's question, Nardia replied, "Maybe if shifted too much, i wouldn't know. But usually it isn't a problem. After i'm in another shape for a long time, it can be kind of confusing." At U'lfr's words, Nardia also began to search for an exit. "I think i could crack open an opening in the rock. It wouldn't be too complicated." Re: A Change for the Better? Alucard walked towards the mouth of the cave. He looked down to see the dwarves, they obviously readied themselves to kill U'lfr. Alucard rolled his eyes at their stupidity. Even if he wasn't a vampire, he still would've been difficult to kill. Gryphons are a powerful, proud race, that wouldn't be so easily defeated by a bunch of midgets. "Those dwarves must be very full of themselves if they think they could just try to kill us, for no good reason," Alucard said. "There's no need Miss Nardia. Don't worry yourself U'fr. Dwarves have the minds of rocks, I have hight doubts they know how to kill one of us," he assured the two of them. Alucard walked back into the darkness, and sat down very relaxed on a rock.

U'lfr looked at Alucard and said, You don't understand, whether they can kill us or not is beside the point, they probably have spellcasters, and they could put us through a lot of pain, not only that, butthey would eventually figure it out, just as I will. They could also kill Nardia. said the vampire/gryphon as he continued ot search the back of th ecave, hoping to find another exit. He looked at Narida and said, That is a good escape route for you, but as for Alucard and I, we are not so good in the Sun, especially me. I would prefer to continued down into the mountains and hide there, in the darkness. That is where I am at my strongest.

As i said, i can crack through the walls, but that'd probably just lead outside." A sudden thought occured to Nardia, and she closed her eyes, reaching out with her mind. "They're isn't anything behind the cave wall except bats, so i guess breaking the wall wouldn't lead outside."

One, That he thought that the stupid magicians spell would cause him a lot of pain,when he just experienced only a few hours ago, the worst pain he would ever feel. And two, that he even cared about Nardia's life. He should think of her a just a food source. Newborns often killed their best friends, because they were the closest food source. "Please, I doubt their spells can match my abilities," Alucard assured U'lfr, again. "I think of this as a good opportunity for you to learn hop to fight with your new strengths. Also, it'd be a good time for you to practice with your own abilities."

She said a brief spell and the rock first turned as cold as dry ice, the became so hot it nearly caught on fire, then shattered.

She saw a tunnel stretching out to the left and right. To the right, it stretched on and downward as far as she could see. To the left, it went on for about ten yards, then took a sharp turn to the right. She turned back to the others. "There's a tunnel. I don't know where it goes."
