Was wondering why Saphira chose to hatch for Eragon? Do you think it was because he was
the first one in a long time to touch the egg? Was it just the right time? Or did she like his nature?
Maybe it was the combination of the 3.

I think it was obvious she just liked him, and maybe felt power in him. Dragons don't just hatch for anyone.

He just came handy! Otherwise egg will stay in forest forever or will be sold and than much easier to found (by galby of course).

I think saphira could sense Eragon's good qualities, and beides he's Brom's son! (I hope, I wish, I hope, I wish, I hope, I wish!) (**dancing around with her fingers crossed**)

nothing happens without a reason. i believe that Eragon has something magic on him , i dont know but i hope he is a son of a special couple -whatever that means- , and Saphira maybe a baby and too young but her knowlege is more than anybody else. I think she knows something for him that made her choose him. It is more than a choosing because he is noble, good and dreamer.

i also believe every thing happens for a reason. and that is why arya was attacked, in order to get the egg to eragon.
..u can't fight or run when it comes to destiny/fait. it will win. ppl say. well, if i had done this or that they would still be around. maybe that would be true for a bit. but if its ment to happen, it will./
....eragon was ment to be the next rider. unfortunatly, that was the only way for him to ever see the egg.

My belief is that she could sense his kind heart, he's humility, his intelligence, his sensitivity and the ability to distinguish and do right from wrong.

He's so intelligent that he nearly killed Kulls which want to join him...sometimes he's such a big FOOL!

It was in Eldest before the last battle (where was Murtagh). Few uragls came to join Vardens and Eragon was...not enought neutral in my opinion

That's because he was prejuidiced against them. This is another reason why I enjoy the series so much. There is a lesson here to be learned. Prejuice can blind us to many things. We need to learn about other people's mind frame and circumstances before we pass judgement.

I thinhk Saphira chose to hatch for Eragon just because she like him or maybe that CP wanted that the egg hatch for Eragon

maybe he had a hard life and at the end he overcame it so that is why saphira chose him as the heir of the dragon riders

yes I agree...not so much with the father son thing just yet as I am still undecided...but because I think Saphira could sense the good in Eragon and his potential and what he one day could become. Hmm...maybe there is a link or connection between the Elf Eragon and the new Eragon...hmm...but anyways yes, Eragon definitely had some very good qualities in him, potential, and some inner power that I think Saphira could see...afterall dragons don't just hatch for some random person or just anyone...they hatch for a reason and a purpose.

That and it wouldn't be much of a story if she didn't, would it???

Its simple really. Eragon has the name of the first rider. So he is destined to be the start of the new Riders. Also just think if Brom had found the egg. Eragon loves going to see Brom so he could have touched it there too. So the part where he was in the right place at the right time doesnt make sense at least not to me. I think it is due to a variety of things. I think that Saphira will tell Eragon when he is ready after the war or when she feels he needs to know why she chose him. I mean I know that they have to get to the Manoya tree for a weapon thats what the werecat said.

Scarecrow I agree with you as well. I am now being convinced that Brom was indeed Eragon's father so I am actually agreeing now with all of your points. I do think there is some sort of link or connection between the first Elven Eragon and the new Eragon and that may have something to do with why she choose him and plus with the other Saphira that Brom had. It's all leading to something I know it.

Because other than Murtaagh said it, there is no other evidence. That and it sounds obsurd.

No, he didn't lie, he didn't know..... or did he??? Remember he knew all of the dealings of the Forsworn, so maybe he knew Selena had cheated on Morzan.

Like I said if that happened I'd say Selena liked too many men to begin with. First a baddy(morzan) then Brom.

Anyways back to the topic....well for some reason do you think we may find out more as to why Saphira chose Eragon in Empire. I mean we know a lot and mostly everything but perhaps there is still more.
