Post The strength of Riders
So we're kind of getting off topic in the new Rider topic. This topic is for discussing the strength of human and elven Riders.

Enjoy :)

And here's a quote that supports the theory that being bonded to a dragon increased a human's strength:

Brom: "All the Riders were stronger of body, keener of mind, and truer of sight than normal men. Along with this, a human Rider would slowly acquire pointed ears, though they were never as prominent as an elf's."

pg 54 of Eragon.

You have to admit elves have such a better head start then humans do, remember when Rhunon is making Brisingr through Eragon and the only two children come up to watch Rhunon staes something along the lines of "Elf children are blessed with gifts of grace, strength etc."

And who was it that said that an Elf rider wouldnt gain much from becoming a rider? I find it hard to believe that they wouldnt. All beings grow in strength as they get older, espeacially when theres no limit set since there everlasting.

Actually Rhunon says that elves are never as strong as they are when they were children.

That would be me. :) Since elves and dragons have been hitched together by their spell for the longest, it's had more time to work on them. Which is why they're so strong and graceful, so there really isn't anything a dragon could do for one that hasn't already been done. For sure their power would increase, but not as much as a human's. The strength of a human would have to drastically increase if they were to hold their own in a fight with a magical being. Which it does when they are bonded to a dragon, but it's a process that takes time.

Haha ok you got me.. sure a human's power will rise more in comparison to his fellow beings i'll give you that, however elves were already Strong with magic and such before the pact with the dragons otherwise they would have been WIPED out during that first war between the two, if the dragons (before the pact was made) were to attack the humans im including all of Galby's army. id put my money on the dragons.

Dont you remember when Brom stated that even the weakest elf could tear Eragon apart (before the Agaeti Blodrhen of course). Do you think that Brom could defeat a elf? He lost his dragon sure but even still he must have retained some of it.

No im pretty dead set on elves being the clear choice.. Galby and Vrael fought and Galby had many eldunari by that point, if it wasnt for Vraels hesitation and Galbys underhanded blow Galby wouldnt even be ruler right now.
