 The Dawning of a new GenerationOOC: As requested by Faefnir, and Eriel. This is taking place in a secluded cave not far from the dragon mountain, but it is still not in the dragon fortress.
IC: Star Gazer moved restlessly and her rider watched on in amusement. " Pacing a hole into the cavern floor won't make them hatch any faster dear dragoness. So just relax." Reb advised, pushing away from the wall to crouch next to the gold and purple eggs. She smiled down at them and carefully laid her hand over one. Heat radiated from the gold egg, while coolness raidiated from the purple. " Your offspring are already forming their personalities. I predict that the golden egg is to be a level headed smart girl. While the purple is to be her heathenish sister." Reb added and that got a happy prum from Star. " I thank you for trying to take my mind off of this, but these are my first." Star Gazer said, sounding more like a hatchling at that moment then a mighty fighter and the queen of an entire fortress. Reb sympathized. She sat down cross legged and patted her lap. Star Gazer gave a half hearted grin then wrapped herself around Reb and laid her head on her lap." Don't dwell. He will be here in a minute. Faefnir wouldn't leave you for ten minutes if he could help it and you know that. Now, imagine what it will be like when they do hatch. What do you think they will look like?What are you going to dub them? What are the genders?" Reb asked her dragon, making so many questions that Star Gazer had to dwell on something else other than the eggs in the center of the cavern, surounded by gold and purple scales. The scales took in sunlight and absorbed it, then gave it to the eggs. Keeping them constantly warm. " One is a boy. The golden one. The purple is a girl. The golden one is an actor, not a thinker. The girl is the thinker not the actor." Star gazer said. " Their names will be Terranor and Naverre." She added. Reb sighed. |

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Faefnir turned back toward the hatching cave with several deer limply hanging out of his mouth. For several days, they had been shut up in there, and Star insisted that she stay with the eggs. So, Faefnir volunteered to hunt for them when the need came. He could feel that the hour of the hatching of his firstborn twins was drawing near, and he was anxious to finally behold the children that will continue his and his mighty and wise mates legacy, not to mention that of his father. He and Star were counting every hour of every day while the children, which Star had dubbed Teranor and Navarre (the first being original, the second being in remembrance of Faefnir's dear departed mother), remained in their eggs. The cave came near, and Faefnir landed at its mouth. He dropped the deer on the floor, rumbled in his chest, and curled his neck with Star's. Then he looked lovingly at the eggs. Any sign of movement yet, Star?

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Star Gazer prummed deeply, feeling better now that Faefnir was there. She grinned at him. " Sadly no. Not a single twitch. If I had hair, it would all be pulled out now."Star Gazer said, rolling the golden egg over with her snout, then the purple. She blew fire on the scales surounding them and soon the eggs were warm to the touch.
Reb walked over and touch the eggs again. " They are glowing. I assume that means they are ready to hatch. Two more wild dragons on this earth. Bound without a rider. How scary." She joked and Star Gazer nudged her lovingly. " You'll see scary when they start to teeth. Your their chew toy." Star said laughing, trying not to worry. " Soon we will have to move them to the dragon mountain for the hatching ceremony. It has been passed down from generation to generation. My fortress would be sorely dissapointed if they missed it." Star Gazer informed Faefnir. |

IC:Emrhyst looked at the cave before her, almost unnoticeble unless you were very observant, or someone told you. Ohh.... So close I can almost feel those little hatchlings crawling out now! She screeched. Eriel smiled. "Well, let's fly faster, we wouldn't want to miss it do we?" Emrhyst roared and started to ride on the hot air currents coming from the desert. After awhile, Emrhyst yawned. How nice of Star to invite her relatives from the forest. She snorted. Eriel smiled. After a little while more, Emrhyst landed outside the cave with a roar. We're here! Emrhyst announced, grinning from ear to ear. Eriel screeched. "Oh... My gosh! Just look at those two!" Her eyes widened and her pupils started to lose their green color, white replacing them quickly. Emrhyst walked forwards and arched her neck. Hello Star, 'ello Feafnir. She laughed and nuzzled the eggs gently. "How long more?" Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Star Gazer was overwhelmed with joy. " A few days, maybe in just hours. They are being fussy inside their eggs. Not staying still long enough for me to know. But I hope it's soon. I would love to look upon them. But now it is almost time to move them to the hatching cavern at the fortress. I have to let them hatch where all the royal family before has hatched. Moon will be there as will all the dragons. They will love to witness the hatching of a new generation. Possibly to dragon's that will change our modern world as we know it." Star said the curled up beside Faefnir and breathed a current of hot air over the eggs. The eggs rocked gently and Star Gazer heard a chirping. " They have been doing that for days now." She commented happy.
Reb walked over to Eriel." Star Gazer has been like a cornered wolf for a long while. Ever since she traveled back from the north, she has been moody. I'm happy to see her happy. Thank you for coming." Reb said then hugged Eriel. |

Emrhyst snorted. So, what are these two precious ones' names? Eriel smiled at her friend. "What's going on in the mountain now? No deaths I hope?" She asked. Never mind, don't answer that. I'd rather wait for the hatching ceremony. Emrhyst laughed and twined her neck with Star's. " No, not much actually. Her parents have been quiet. Moon being the only thing making it that way I am assuming." Reb said sitting down near the eggs, and listened to the chirps of the eggs. "The names are beautiful and are perfect for the offspring of these two ancient and magnificent dragons." Reb informed Emhyrst. |

Bah, it won't be that bad when they start to teeth. My scales are hardened from age and battle, so they shouldn't hurt me. Hmhmhm. Then Faefnir received a signal: a two new lives. Star, I'll carry them to the hatching ground. The time we've been waiting for is almost come. Faefnir gently bundled the twins into his arms and pressed them close to his chest so they can stay warm. I'll meet you at the hatching ground, love. Then Faefnir took off. It didn't take long at all to return to the Fortress. His arrival was heralded by all the dragons living there, and he thought he could even see Star's parents in the welcome greeting. Faefnir angled toward a particularly large cave that was open to the sun and had a floor covered with white sand (to keep the eggs warm without the aid of the mother). Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Star Gazer nervously launched into the air. " Emhyrst, come you get to be in the cave when this takes place, as does our riders. A great honor among dragons alike. Not even my family gets to be in the cave when my children hatch." Star Gazer said, Reb on her back as they soared low over the mountain peaks, hoping nothing went wrong to ruin this beautiful day. But memories of Grothar intruded her mind and she wasn't able to be completely happy as she landed next to Faefnir and then turned towards the group of gathered dragons.
" I can't wait." She said as she gently rolled the eggs over to where she though the head would be upright. |

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Emrhyst smiled at her friend and picked Eriel up, soaring and landing in the way fashion Star did, although not as graceful. She landed next to Star and roared. They come, I can feel them breaking their shells now. Emrhyst watched in anticipation, holding her breath while Eriel placed her sword between the two eggs, a sign of trust and a deep friendship to the elves. It was customary that a close friend would place a weapon between the two babes, or in the case of dragons, eggs. Eriel smiled and knelt beside the eggs, her side towards the other dragons.

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Faefnir rumbled in his chest as Star and Emrhyst landed on the hatching ground. He curled his neck around hers, then watched the eggs. His deep blue eyes widened as he saw them starting to shake and distinctive cracking noises were heard. His acute eyes could see the cracks forming along the outer shell of both eggs until... a purple hatchling with golden spots struggled out of her egg, making a great many noises as she took her first breaths. Then she eyed Faefnir and yapped happily. Even with her skinny young legs, she managed to get to Faefnir's leg and batting her head on it like a kitten. Faefnir chuckled. There there, Navarre. Welcome to the world, young one.

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation The dragon's roared as Naverre made her way out of her egg, and Star Gazer prummed as she leaned down and pressed her cheek to her daughter, loving her instantly. " High darling." She said as she smiled down at the hatchling, no bigger than one of her toes.
A series of squeaks followed as the second egg cracked. Then a golden dragon popped out of the shell and rolled across the floor, and came to a stop at Star Gazer's feet. " Hello my son. Great Terranor." Star Gazer rumbled as she pressed her cheek to him in the same fashion as with Naverre. She was so happy she looked up and actually smiled at her parents. |

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Emrhyst roared happily, her heart was bursting with so much joy she was sure the others could see a white glow around her. She prummed deeply and looked at the two of them, instantly taking a liking to the male. She snaked her head forwards, rubbing it against the hatchling. Eriel just smiled and retrieved her blade. "May this day be remembered amongst elves and dragons, and may these two babes grow strong and wise and when the twilight sisters pass, may these two remain." She said softly and touched the two hatchlings on their foreheads, nearly falling forwards as a huge amount of energy was sucked from her. Eriel stood panting, sweat beaded her forehead.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Star's parents smiling back at their daughter. Then he allowed Navarre to climb up his leg and get into the hollow space of his spikes. Then he lumbered out of the hatching ground toward the royal chambers.

Me too. I know we're not that close to them but I want to be there when they show the new dragons. Besides, I think you deserve to see the start of a new generation. Aelir was heartned that Keralin understood his need to see the new dragons. Good thing that we were shown the way to the everybody is gathering. Aelir by now could see the other dragons awaiting the arrival and through Aelir, Keralin could see as well. They squirmed their way towards the front of the pack, hoping that they would be the first to see. I can sense their lives already. They certainly are strong. IC: Star Gazer followed Faefnir with Teranor hanging onto her tail, bouncing along with her movements, making cute gurgling noises as he tried to catch a bug. Star Gazer smiled and twisted her neck back to him. " Hello my darling." She said and blew warm air onto him, making him giggle-well as close to a giggle as a dragon could- and swatted at her with his tiny claws. Star Gazer was in awe and amazed at him. She blew more air onto his fast drying scales and he giggled again, this time latching onto her face with his claws, and she swung her face away, making him airborne. Terranor smiled as Star Gazer created a current with her wings that sat him gently on her head, and he curled up on top of her head, yawned then fell asleep. |

Ic: Phalynx, only two weeks old and just fledged, was standing among the crowd of waiting dragons. She was eager to see the new hatchlings, children of Faefnir and Star Gazer. She knew that Faefnir would make a good parent, and was sure of the same of Star Gazer, even though she hadn't met her yet. Phalynx was curious as well, wondering what hatchlings were really like from an outsider's perspective. Phal only remembered being extremely happy most of the time. The days after she had hatched were a lovely bliss, for her vision was shielded by a hatchling's innocent and carefree view of the world. Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Faefnir rumbled in his chest and curled his neck around Star's. As they entered the royal chambers, Faefnir beckoned Star gazer to their chamber in the back. As she entered, Faefnir reached out with his power and rose a substantial crib from the stone, large enough for both Teranor and Navarre. Navarre enthusiastically leaped inside, gliding gently to the floor of the crib. Then Faefnir looked into the corner at the three Twilight Sisters destined for their offspring. Faefnir took the purple one and placed it gently under the head scales of Navarre. Then he fused the two together. He looked at the golden one, destined for Teranor, and the third one, a bright scarlet red. As Star entered, he wistfully said: My love, we still have one more child to go. After that, who knows what the future may hold for us. He gently took his mates hand. May the rest of the numbered days of the older generation be spent with you, my purple angel. I love you. Then he wrapped his neck around hers and didn't let go for a long while.

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Phalynx noticed a large blue dragon and a large green dragon, both with riders, in front of her. She knew that these were friends of the royal pair, and sneaked in a little closer to hear what they were saying. She was well hidden by the legs of the larger dragons, who were talking amongst themselves. Phal looked in the direction of the royal chambers. She momentarily switched to infrared vision, the golden stripe in her right eye glowing, and looked in. She could see the two proud parents (or their heat signatures, at least) and the two hatchlings. I hope I get to know them soon! Maybe we'll be friends. Phalynx thought with hope. She had never met another dragon her age, and hoped that the two hatchlings would like her. She switched back to normal vision. She didn't want to be nosy, and only wanted a peek at the hatchlings.

Re: The Dawning of a new Generation Star Gazer smiled at Faefnir. " Yes and I can't wait to see the rest of our children grow and prosper. I hope I live to see all of them." Star Gazer said and then prummed as she looked at her children. She laid Terranor carefully down into the crib and smiled at them as they sleept.
Reb was the last to exit the cave, and then she adressed all the dragons, honoring Star Gazer and Faefnir. " This day will be celebrated, honor and life to all dragons!" Reb said then threw up her hands, ready to drain the most power ever before used by her. She had created snakes before but none this big and as she began to spin, fire slammed into the ground as lightening became veins of light in the sky. She began to glow as ice pelted a certain mountain pummeling it. It wasn't a big one, not much bigger than Star Gazer but it was pretty good sized, and she wasn't just forming a snake, she was forming a dragon of massive size. A red beast that would be imprinted upon minds for all time. Reb began to pant as the form began to take shape from fire and ice, combineing the two elements that were meant to stay apart. Burning and creating heat that was unbearable for all but dragons and their riders. Eyes as blue as ice formed in a giant red head, with an aura of emotions that whirled and captivated all that watched Reb move her hands in an intricate pattern, that wove the body of the dragon, draining everything she was as she formed the monument to her life, her friend, her companion and one of the only beings to accept her. Reb wanted this to be special. She wasn't trying to oust anyone or step on any toes, she just wanted to honor her dragon and with that though, she threw her hands towards the mountain and then watched as her creation took to the sky, doing loops as it climbed higher and then suddenly, it fell back in upon itself and dove down towards the mountain that had been previously slammed with ice. It was not a big mountain about twenty feet hight, but it was perfect for Reb's intent. The dragon roared as it slammed into the mountain with a force that shook the ground and debris and smoke flew everywhere, momentarily blocking the mountain from view but when the smoke cleared, it was beatiful. A carving of stone clean cut and shining in the light stood out. The carving was of a mountain scene, with litte dragons playing on the ground, and a group of four dragons hoovering above them, watchful and protective. It symbolized all the dragon mountain stood for. The Dragon Fortress.

That was wild. she remarked to herself about the rider's statement, then paused and shook herself, Ugh. I really do need to quit eavesdropping. Phal, slightly embarrassed, turned away to observe the other dragons present. None seemed even close to her age, and she began to feel somewhat lonely. She began to think of Galbatorix, how this was all his fault. Because of him, there were no more dragons Phal's age, except for these two. Phal could still hope that there were others, still unknown, though. She sighed and waited for something to happen, her hatchling's attention span beginning to falter.

IC: Phalynx had finally had enough with waiting. She had crept slowly along the passage, on Emrhyst's side. Aelir and Keralin were behind her, but didn't notice her creeping along through the tunnels. As they moved forwards to look at Faefnir's and Stargazer's hatchlings, Phal felt herself overcome by curiousity. She moved forwards too close, however, and stepped right on Emrhyst's tail. Umm... hi? she said with an embarrassed smile. I'm sorry if I'm intruding, I'll go back if you want me to, sorry, Phal added hastily. This is their one hatchling they had as a couple, before they died in the Purge. She only hatched a little while ago, so she was really late in hatching. I think that's the one thing that is opposite between the two of us: I hatched really early, she hatched really late.

The twins were starting to make a fuss. They must be hungry. He went into a corner of the room and dug around a pouch, finding a large hunk of dried meat. Then, he threw it into the makeshift crib, where the twins mauled it. Faefnir went to them and looked inside, smiling.
