Chapter 1: Beginning of the end
Walking down the empty streets, under the cover of night, is my favorite thing to do. Tonight it was raining, even better. You could barely hear my footsteps and I wasn’t even trying to be quiet, no yet. I stop as I come to a puddle; I stare down at the man looking up at me. It has been so long since I really looked at myself, and now that I am I wish I hadn’t. My hair dark brown and normally very good looking was now a disheveled mess of dirt and forest. My dark brown eyes, colder then they ever had been before. My face was gaunt, a mockery of the smile it used to hold. My body was lean, thin, and muscular. I had lost my clothes on the chase, but luckily I found replacements off the bodies. These ones were relatively blood free. I can hear the mob approaching, the police officers, the civilians, the soldiers, and anyone else who wanted in; wanted in on the killing of a murderer. That murderer is me. I quickened my pace to a full out sprint. The buildings were just a blur as I ran. They could never kill me, so I have to find someone who can. I can’t live with this pain anymore. It kills me.
I jolt awake. Damn it another one of those dreams. Cold sweat is pouring down my face so I stand up and look around. It is dark in my room, but I can see clearly enough. I realize how poor I am, or at least seem. My apartment is one room and a bathroom, my twin bed takes up most of the room and a closet houses all of my clothes. I have a small shelf drilled into the wall above my bed, I am always in fear it is going to fall as I sleep, that holds two picture frames. Both pictures show me and my girlfriend, my favorite one has us sitting on a bench in the middle of a rain storm. I stumble over to the bathroom still tired and grab a glass of water. I get thirstier as I watch the water fill the small glass. I drink four glasses and crawl back into bed.
I can feel the tearing. I can’t hold back anymore. He won’t let me die. I look around at the bounty hunters in there body armor. It won’t protect them from me, they will all die. I tried to warn them I did. I feel the pressure. My skin is ripping, I can see it, then I look around, I really look at the eyes of my victims. I see the terror, I see the fear, and I see the awe. The awe is what kills me. They all want my power, they don’t know the cost. The fur is everywhere now. I look at my hands…My claws now. I charge at the nearest bounty hunter and he realizes he is dead. Before he even tries to protect himself my mouth is ripping open his throat. I turn in an instant to see one of the other hunters fire a rifle at me. The bullet doesn’t even faze me, it hits and slides off. I rush in and slide my claws between his ribs, killing him. Then I turn and instantly I realize this one is different. The bounty hunter drops his assault rifle and pulls out huge curved knife. I smell the silver in the air. This one knew before-hand, he knew what I was. If he knew then he would put up a fight. “You. You knew and you let these men die…unforgivable.” “Spare me you beast. Those petty humans mean nothing to me.” “Then your one of them…we will see whose fangs are sharper.” “We shall.” I charged in directly at him, but I was ready to lunge right or left or even straight up. He thought I wasn’t ready, he thought I was a dumb beast. He lunged straight at me blade pointed towards my heart. I leapt straight up and came down claw first on top of him. He struggled for half a second, until my claws sank into his heart. Then I began tearing until there was nothing left. “Arrogant as our kind always are. I am not a dumb beast. You should have some respect.”
I sit up panting heavily. **** I have to eat less junk food before bed.
All I can hear is the blaring alarm clock. It takes me two solid minutes to gather the energy and hit the snooze. I rub my eyes and sit up, the blankets slide down and I can tell the way they are twisted that I slept awful last night. I look at the time; I am running late as usual. Does that make me on time, if it’s my usual thing? I slide my feet from under the blankets to the cold ground. I stand up stretching and listening to my joints pop. I walked over to my small bathroom with barely enough room to stand and brush my teeth. I grab a towel from on top of my dresser and turn the shower on. The water gets hot fast and I hop in. I shower quickly as usual and wish I could relax and just enjoy it sometimes. Then, I get out brush my teeth, put on some deodorant, and then get dressed. I just put on a pair of jeans and a white-tee. I grab my work vest and I’m out the door. I step into the hall and it’s completely empty. I never see my neighbors, but when you go to work at 5 a.m. and come home late into the night what else can you expect. I walk out the front door into the pouring rain. I hadn’t thought to even grab a coat. I sprint to my car trying to get out of the rain, but the effort was futile I was soaked in seconds. I put the key in the door hastily and slide it open just enough so I can fit in. I throw my vest in the back seat. I put the key in the ignition and pray that it starts. The white 1990 Toyota Corolla had seen too many years, but it has faired me well. I got it when I was sixteen and three years later it was still kicking. I make enough money to get a new one, but I need that money to get me the hell out of here. Get me and Victoria out of here. I have been saving ever since that day two years ago.
Jun 10th 2006, I am walking down the road in the rain, on my birthday. Just so I can see my girl. My car was in the shop and she didn’t live to far away. I have a coat on and I’m watching the raindrops hit the coat and slide off. I see a few cars go by, slowly because of the heavy rainfall. A silver Mustang rolls up next to me and stops. The man inside rolls down the window, I can immediately feel something wrong. The man is obscured by the rain but I can see his eyes, black, piercing through the rain and fog. “On your twentieth birthday I will find you again. You will have ascended by then. Be ready.” He drove off and I sprinted to my girlfriend’s house. I told her what happened. She said she had a dream with a woman saying the same thing. We were just kids then. We decided to pool our money together and get away from everything.
A horn blares breaking me from my thoughts. I see a flash and I slam on the breaks, pumping them as fast as I can. It did nothing though, the red truck slammed into my door crushing the left side of my car. The side I was in. I felt my body shatter in several different places. I saw the road flying by as my vehicle slid across the road straight into brick building crushing the other side of my car. I was trapped in the car dying. I was in agony, but slowly the pain faded, I could think clearly. Get out of the car you idiot. Who said that? I slid my body around and kicked the driver’s side door. I kicked it hard twice and it broke off and slid across the street. I crawled out cutting myself on the broken glass strewn everywhere. I stood up and looked down at myself. I was battered and bloody, but I felt fine and some of the blood no longer had cuts to originate from. I looked around at everything. There were cars flipped and crushed everywhere. People staring wide eyed. I realized they were staring at me. I heard the ambulances, I saw their lights, and then I passed out. That voice. Who was that.

Re: Bestial
The plotline is interesting so far, though I don't yet entirely understand what it's about, and writing style is very original and you have lots of detail, but there's a bunch of grammar errors-For instance, shifting from present tense into past tense, not having spaces between paragraphs and not having commas in the right places. I'll highlight the stuff i change.WolfBlade wrote: Chapter 1: Beginning of the end

Re: Bestial
Thanks for the critique!
Yes I know switching tenses is one of my greatest downfalls. Sometimes I think I would be better off writing in the third person.
As for the spaces between paragraphs I just didn't want to make it too long, I guess I didn't take the people reading it into account. Haha
Then the commas, I used to over-use them and now I under-use(not a word) them. I gotta find my stride with those.
