Re: A bad feeling
Kegan's mood turned more sour as the rider and rainbow dragon began to laugh at Na'ir. Sure, the plan probably wouldn't work out, but still, she was trying to help. The hybrid grumbled under his breath, not knowing what else he could possibly do. He kept close to the black dragon, wondering how long he (or her) would be out. The dragon's exposed belly was very soft, and warm. The boy relaxed himself a bit, knowing there wasn't going to be any physical confrontation for the time being... OOC: Short...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir snorted indignantly at the rider and dragon. Don't be absurd. I'm not going to fight anyone, if I can help it. I shall create a diversion, and then I will sneak in. There are many tunnels beneath the city, and I will be able to see my way through them. Many are so forgotten that there is no magical protection inside of them, she explained, rolling her eyes. These two were ridiculous. Did they actually think she wanted to fight Galbatorix? With her skills? She was good at being stealthy though; she could sneak into the city without a problem. She already had the knowledge of Galbatorix's Eldunari storage room, and what it looked like.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah sighed loudly and said, "Well, then, since you are going to go on this mission, who is to guard the dragon in the cave we find, that is if we find one. So, which direction do you say we go?" asked the woman with a slight smile at the overall insanity of the whole idea. Galbatorix has had a century to search with his soldiers, as well as magicians, it was doubtful that there was much of anything that he did not know about his city.
Arcus grunted and said, Fine, I will drag him, since it is unlikely that either of you could get him any distance, but after that, I am done. I warned all of you, but no one listened. said the multicolored dragon knowingly as he grabbed the tail of the dragon in his teeth and began to drag it.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan got up quickly as Arcus began pulling the dragon. He followed quickly, at the head of the dragon. "I can guard the dragon," Kegan said quickly. He didn't realize what he had said until he replayed the last few minutes in his mind. He didn't care though. Even if the dragon was passed out, Kegan could feel himself growing on him (or her, which would be strange indeed). He sometimes did that with some birds. It bothered him that he did that, and managed to lose his dinner many times, but still, he could not stop it. He easily bonded with any animal. A small smile crept onto his face. Kegan was going to make the others see how good the dragon could be, one way or another...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir snorted and flapped her wings, spreading dust as she flew up into the air. Oh, don't be such a pessimist. And yes, I know there are unused tunnels. Galbatorix can't see everything, she replied. She scanned the landscape, looking for some sort of cave to trap the dragon in. Ah, there we go. There's a rocky outcropping just a little way in that direction. We can stuff him there for a while. Shouldn't be for more than a couple of days, she announced cheerfully. She lowered her wings and landed gracefully on the ground, trotting to get near the dragon. She grabbed ahold of the unconscious dragon lower on its tail and began to help Arcus drag it across the ground.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah sighed and say on Arcus' back, hopint to get all this done soon.
Arcus grunted and continued to pull. He asked, Is the cave very far, and Galbatorix himself may not see the tunnels, but it is doubtful that he has not had magicians place spells all around the room he has the eldunari in, as a matter of fact, I would nearly bet that is what he has done, and has guards all around the room it would be pointless to try to get them, it would mean your death.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan ran along with the black dragon. It seemed so peaceful while it was sleeping, like a baby. He lightly brushed his hand against the dragon's belly. It was very soft, and Kegan thought it might make a nice pillow. "So... how long should it take us to get there?" He asked, fairly curious.OOC: Short

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir glanced at the others, still gripping the dragon's tail. Kegan seemed awfully comfortable with the dragon. Don't worry, it'll only take about another minute to reach it. Haven't you noticed the ground getting more rocky? she replied to the boy, glancing back ahead to the outcropping. A few burrow-like tunnels ran under the stones, one in particular catching her attention. She turned back to Arcus when he voiced his doubts, glaring at him. I know it will be difficult, but we have to do something for this dragon! I can't just let it remain a slave to the enemy of our race! she retorted in annoyance.

Re: A bad feeling
I agree, that is why I said kill him and then it would no longer be our worry, he might even be able to shatter his eldunari from the inside and be at rest in the void. said the dragon as he pulled the black into one of the many tunnels. He walked out of the tunnel and to the one beside and caused it to fall in then walked to another and slammed his tail into the rock to cause it to break apart.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan watched with sadness as he saw the black dragon trapped in the tunnels. He didn't let it reach his face, though. If Sarah or Arcus saw it, he would surely be ridiculed to the point of him running away, crying. He didn't find Sarah or Arcus as an enemy, but he knew that they had much different point of views than that of him and Na'ir. He would have to deal with it. They were his friends, and he knew you must let your friends have their own point of view. The hybrid boy would take any friends that he could get, thus his fondness of the black dragon.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir snorted at Arcus, annoyed at his stubbornness. And I said I wouldn't allow the killing of one of our own kind if we had a choice. And we still do. I fully intend on saving this dragon from Galbatorix's cruel enslavement. Despite the dangers, she retorted with a haughtly sniff. She helped the colorful dragon cave in the rocks around the tunnel, and inspected their work. The wall between the outside and this dragon was fully secure; he wouldn't be getting out any time soon.
OOC: Ben, since you might want this dragon, would you rather he be held at the Tribe or in the Dragon Mountain (which is like the official place of Alagaesia's royal dragon family and some others)?

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah hopped off of Arcus' back and said, "I am going to stay here with Kegan, my magic and skils with archery would likely be of soem use to him while we are watching the dragon, Arcus, you are goign with Na'ir. I know you do not agree with this, but, she is not going to Uru'baen alone and that is final, I will hear no arguements from any of you." said the womn as she eyes the two dragons threateningly.
Arcus sighed, knowing it was useless to try to get out of doing what the woman said. He said to Na'ir, Which is the closest(sp), I am not one much fly long distance flying and it seems that I will not be getting out of this one, Sarah has made up her mind...

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan smiled as the dragons flew off. He sat down next to the tunnel the unconscious dragon lay in, trying to peer inside. Through some spaces in between rocks, the hybrid boy could just make out the outline of the black dragon. He lightly spat a fire ball at the rock closest to the hole, trying to see inside. It illuminated the tunnel just enough for Kegan to see the dragon's face. Pleased with his fine fire skills, he relaxed. His term of relaxation was different than other people's. What he did was warm his entire body with his flames, and then seeing how long it would take for certain colored rocks to melt.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir laughed at Sarah and gave Arcus a cheerful, somewhat teasing grin. Looks like you have to get involved now. Heh. Anyway, we're actually kind of south, so I thought I'd head to the Dragon Mountain and see if they could send a few soldiers back for this dragon. Then I'm going to Uru'baen. I was gonna say you didn't have to come, but now... well, your rider seems pretty forceful, she said, laughing. She lifted her wings elegantly and took off, spiralling swiftly into the sky. She waited for Arcus and then angled her body southwest, headed towards the Beors.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah sat back as the young hybrid watched the dragon and asked, "You really like hom don't you?" she looked about the small clearing nestled in-between the rocks and the trees and sighed audibly. She said, "I hope you and Alna'ir are right, because if not, we will have to kill him and I would not like to see how you would react to that, especially since you are so attacked to him even though he tried to kill you and still will if he gets the chance."
Arcus grunted and leapt into the air after Alna'ir, his multicolored wings flashing in the light. When they were sufficiently far from Sarah, Kegan, and the dragon said, You have no idea just how forceful, as well as powerful she is. I don't know what it is with her, but she gets a temper about her sometimes that makes a lot of dragons look like dogs. said the dragon tensely.

Re: A bad feeling
"I am not attached to this dragon!" Kegan shouted at Sarah. "I'm just... curious..." He said in a less loud tone of voice. He continued warming himself, and trying to melt a red rock. Every few minutes he took a second to look back at the dragon, to see if it was there, and to see what it was doing.
Finally, after minutes of boredom, Kegan began digging up a bunch of dirt. He mysteriously formed the dirt into balls...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir's eyes sparkled as Arcus replied, telling her that Sarah was very forceful. Well, you need someone to be able to control your stubborness, Arcus. You made a wise decision when you hatched for her, she said with a few amused laughs. But she is a very nice girl, all teasing aside. Her strength is valuable, she added with a sincere smile. The dusty ground beneath them was moving in no more than a blur at their swift pace. They would arrive at the Mountain perhaps by late afternoon, if the winds stayed predictable.

"Sarah said, "Yea, sure you aren't. if you weren't attached to the dragon, then why do you keep looking in there and smiling, it is ok if you like it, and it would even be better if Na'ir and Arcus find its eldunairi, cause it will need a friend if it does end up caterpillar good." said the rideress as she picked upa small flower. She sniffed it lightly, then sat back and said, "I think I will take a little nap, let me know if you need something."
Arcus looked at Na'ir and said, I am not stubborn, I just know how most things happen. Most of the time, that is. said the multicolored dragon as he flapped his wings to keep up with Na'ir.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan payed no mind to Sarah, and continued to make balls of dirt. He constructed it into a rectangular pyramid. Finally, when he made the final ball, he placed it at the absolute top of the dirt-building. He pulled a canteen out of his pocket. Sneakily, he poured half of the water onto the dirt balls. He picked up the top ball. It was very muddy, but not muddy enough for it too fall apart in his hands. With a giggle, he chucked it at the napping lump of Sarah. He started throwing more of them, and soon it seemed as if it was raining mud balls! The hybrid's laughter filled the air...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir rolled her eyes good-humoredly. Well fine then. But you only think you know what will happen. Everything'll work out, you'll see, she replied with a smile. She turned back and continued, the wind rushing past her in swift, cool gusts. Soon the Beors would come into view in the distance, and they would be even closer. Na'ir was excited to arrive at the Dragon Mountain. She had never been to it before, and couldn't wait to meet the dragons there. Obviously, she couldn't simply wander around and waste time chatting; they'd have to leave quickly; but she could still talk a little.
OOC: Maybe we should time-skip to the end of the day, when Na'ir and Arcus arrive? Otherwise it's just flying for several posts.

Re: A bad feeling
When the mud balls began to hit her, Sarah angrilyy sat up and said, "Stop! I mean it now ... STOP!" and casted a small spell to clean the mud off of her and to stop the mud balls, she sat there, looking at the hybrid, then smiled mischeviously. She casted a small spell and the mud balls began to explode, sending mud flying all over the area. She fell on her side, laughing hysterically, she smiled at the hybrid and said, "That is what you get."
Arcus flew alongside the dragoness in silence, they flew for hours, but finally came to the edge of the Beors, he looked at the large mountain in the distance and asked, Is that it?
OOC: Yea, I will time skip, but I don't really know anything about the dragon mountain, so, you will have to do the details.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan yelled as the mud exploded. He already had made a wall of fire in front of him before the dirt made impact, so it wouldn't hit him. When the exploding was done, Kegan stopped the fire. He smiled. He was un-touchable, so long as he was prepared for what was going to happen. He smirked at Sarah. "It is sooooo on..." He said with a smug grin.
Some hours later, he was staring up into the sky. The sun was beginning it's descent, and the horizon was extra-beautiful. He felt so peaceful, that he just took a glance towards the tunnel, yawned, and fell asleep.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Certainly. It's not very hard to imagine, though, just some hallways and then a throne and council room eventually. IC: The day passed rather quickly, as it always did when Na'ir was flying. The distant smudge slowly grew larger and more defined, and soon the clear, distinct shapes of the mountains were easy to make out. By the time the sun began to sink, they had almost reached the mountains themselves. Further into the chain a large peak could be made out amongst the rest, and Na'ir even thought she caught faint glitterings now and then, as if dragons were flying and the last of the light had caught on their scales.
Yes. We are almost there. I've never been to the Dragon Mountain before, but they'll know who I am, she replied with a smile. The rocky, snowcapped ridges flew below them, and Na'ir couldn't help but twirl and spin a little in flight in her delight. The scale of this place, and the clean, cold, fresh air; it was enough to make anyone feel more free than they ever had before.
Soon the glittering shapes were marked by the distinctions of dragons. Na'ir drew forward until a small group of professional-looking dragons soared in front of them. I am Alna'ir, daughter of Phalynx and Aeraldi, and I have business within, she said politely, her green eyes glittering. The dragons nodded. Then you and your friends are welcome. Please state your business to those in charge inside, the leader of the group said. Na'ir had felt a brief brush of his mind as he assessed the truth of her words, just as a precaution, and then the group swept themselves aside. The blue dragoness angled down towards a hidden opening behind some rocks.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah laughed aloud as Kegan 'threatened' her. Later, after Kegan fell asleep, Sarah casted spells on the hole in the rocks for the dragon to breathe through. The spells were there to stop fire, as well as him escaping through there, though she knew that the effort would drain her, she used the energies of the trees, as a matter of fact, somewhere around seventy trees to do it so that it would not kill any of the large pines in the area. She smiled happily, then herself fell into a deep sleep.
Arcus looked about him at the other dragons. He warily stepped into the fortress, he looked about at the small dragons flyign too and fro carrying messages and such. He said to Na'ir, Do you think they will really help us, I mean, they have no way to know we are being truthful? asked the dragon, then when he thought about it said, They will not be searching my mind, they don's have that right, they are not going to find out about Sarah unless it has to happen. said the dragon.

Re: A bad feeling
While Kegan was sleeping, he was having some... strange dreams. Dreams of traveling the world faster than he ever could. Dreams of dealing fatal blows to the forces of Galbatorix, as well as the Varden, the drawves, and the elves. All the while, he failed to notice that in every dream, there was always a large black blob somewhere. Outside of his sleep, a laugh escaped him. "Off goes Kegan, the hybrid loose cannon..." He mumbled softly...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir landed gracefully and folded her wings as she stepped into the hallway. She snorted at Arcus beside her, rolling her eyes. Relax, these are my friends. My uncle and aunt are the king and queen; so they'll know who I am. Even if Faefnir and Star aren't in, they'll be able to tell, she said reassuringly to the brightly-colored dragon. She wondered, yet again, how he could have so many doubts and worries.
They stepped down the long hall, turning into an even larger one, Na'ir confidently leading the way towards a large room she could see at the end. As they grew closer, she could tell that neither of the rulers were around, at least in the area. Eventually, they entered a large council room, with a small side passage leading to the throne room beyond. Na'ir bowed her head politely to an official-looking dragon. He examined her and then smiled, bowing his own head in return to both her and Arcus. I am Dark Talon, a councilor of Queen Star Gazer. You are Alna'ir, I presume? It is wonderful to finally meet you, he said in a friendly tone. Na'ir grinned in response. Yeah, that's me. This is my friend Arcus, she replied cheerfully, glancing at the rainbow-colored dragon.
Dark Talon nodded. Pleased to meet you as well. I assume you have some business with us? he asked. Na'ir nodded. Yes, I was wondering if you could hold a dragon prisoner, as a favor to me. He was under the control of Galbatorix, but I want to rescue his Eldunari and hopefully show him that he can get out from under the tyrant's hand, she said, her tone more serious. Dark Talon frowned, thinking. Where is this dragon now? You know I cannot send out our soldiers without good reason. Will he be controllable? the iron-gray replied. He's to the northeast, I can show you the location with my mind. We subdued him before imprisoning him in a blocked-off cave, and he can't fly away. Please help him? This dragon could one day be an ally or even friend, if he gets a chance, the blue dragoness said pleadingly.

Re: A bad feeling
Arcus looked at the iron gray dragon and bowed his head slightly. He listened in silence as everything was done and waited for everything to be finished. He said, I would have a full team of fighters, the black dragon is tough, and he is pretty unpredictable. I said we should kill him, but Kegan and Alna'ir were against that, I am hopign that I will be wrong, but I do not think he will change...

Re: A bad feeling
Dark Talon seemed to think about Na'ir's and Arcus's words for a moment. He gave a slow nod. Hopefully we can bring him to our side. Our soldiers are well-trained to handle dragons, obviously, so he shouldn't be difficult to bring here. However, if he becomes too resistant and not worth the effort, we will be forced to kill him. We will try to bring him back, though. Now, can you show me where he is, please? the gray said at last, and Na'ir let out a small sigh of relief that the dragon was to be brought here. Certainly, she replied with a smile, and quickly connected her mind with the dark gray's. She showed him a successive series of images, which showed the landmarks and directions from the Mountain to the dragon's current imprisonment. When she finished, Dark Talon was looking impressed. That was unusually clear for a dragon so young and untrained as a scout or courier. Have you practiced in this? he questioned. Na'ir grinned, glad to have demonstrated one of her greatest talents; geography. I just love exploring and seeing every part of the land. I hope to make maps of my travels, she said cheerfully. Dark Talon gave a satisfied nod. You should consider spending some training time here. Now, do you two have a plan in mind for infiltrating Uru'baen? You look like capable dragons, but it would not do to take such a risk in case our attempts to befriend this dragon fail, Dark Talon continued, his voice taking a concerned tone.

Re: A bad feeling
Arcus looked at the older dragon and said, She has some ability that she says can help us get in without Galbatorix noticing, and I am coming along because someone asked me to and I will be the muscle for the job. said the multicolored dragon to the older iron-gray. He walked out of the room and asked Alna'ir, Are we leading them to Kegan and Sarah, or going straight to Uru'baen.
Sarah woke up, and it was the middle of the night. She peered into the crevis that allowed the dragon to breathe fresh air and saw that it was awake. The dragon was also very angry. She looked inside until it blew a powerful blast of fire at her, luckily her spells worked and stopped the dragon's fire.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan jumped up as a wave of heat passed over him. "Woah... let's just take it easy now folks... Kegan is on the case..." He said, still half asleep. A roar came from the cave, and some scratching noises. Kegan almost did not notice it, since he was about to just fall over, sleeping. That is exactly what he did, and he hit the ground with a thump.
OOC: Short...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir narrowed her eyes at Arcus. What do you mean, the muscle? I can pull my own share of the work... she grumbled. She glanced back at Dark Talon and gave a farewell incline of her head. Farewell, Dark Talon. Thank you for helping us, she said politely, and followed the colorful dragon out of the room. They're going to use my mind-map to get there. I was hoping we could go straight to Uru'baen so as not to waste time, she replied to Arcus's inquiry. That would be the fastest route, anyway. She turned and started to walk back down the hall, passing several more dragons before all looked clear ahead. It seemed most of the dragons had finished their activities for the day, except for the guards. Outside, Na'ir thought the sun was probably setting by now.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah looked at the suprised Kegan and said, "I told you he was still dangerous, luckily I had enough sense to cast a spell to keep him from burning us while we are not paying attention. Spell or no spell, I would be much mor ecomfortable if you were to come over here, and away from it, the dragon seems to be very much alive and well, and as good as that may seem, it makes our job all that much harder." said the rideress as she backed aarily away from the hole and casted even more spells.
Arcus snorted and grinned both at Alan'ir's comment about him not being the muscle, he laughed out loud and said, Ok, ok, I was just joking, also, you are going to have to lead the way there, I don't exactly know... laughed the dragon.

Re: A bad feeling
"Oh whatever..." Kegan said, his voice drooling with tired attitude. He slowly walked over to Sarah, reluctant to leave the dragon. He finally sat down next to her, watching the dragon freak out. He longed to go tell the dragon he was it's friend, but he doubted that would exactly work out. He knew that when Na'ir and Arcus returned, the dragon would be much less rowdy. "You know..." The hybrid boy said to Sarah, "I'm only doing this for your safety." A small chuckle followed, and soon he went into a fit of laughter.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir smiled and gave a small fluorish of her streaked wings. Well, there shouldn't be any problem, then. I know my way around Alagaesia, and a lot from direct experience, too, she said with a cheerful grin. It wasn't long before they arrived at the entrance, and the dark, reddish-purple light flooding in was evidence of the lateness in the day. Any particular place you wanna take a rest stop? We could stop at the edge of the Beors, or the Hadarac, or even the edge of the Empire's plains if we wanna go that far, she said, realizing that they would need to sleep eventually.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah looked at Kegan with a humorious smile on her face. She said, "I bet you are." and fell into a fit of laughter all her own.
Arcus looked at Na'ir and said, Well, I can't fly as fast as you, so I doubt I can fly as far, so stop wherever you think would be best, I don't really know, we try to avoid most of the Empire and are usually with the Varden, so wherever you want, but I want to hury and get back to Sarah as soon as possible. I know she is scrappy, but I don't like her and Kegan being all alone with that dragon. said the dragon uneasily.

Kegan's laughter soon ended. He was becoming much more comfortable with his new friend, and the black dragon seemed to have cooled down quite a bit, and just glared out at the two.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir nodded. Alright. Then maybe we should just fly to the edge of the Beors, since we've been flying all day. Then we can be all rested and ready to get to Uru'baen, she decided. She turned to look at the surrounding mountains, with the last, dusky bits of light fading from the tall peaks. They sky was almost black, with only a little blue and indigo left on the western horizon. The blue dragoness stepped to the edge of the mountain prominance and lifted her wings, ready to take off. With a sudden spring, she jumped off the cliff and spread her wings, gliding out over the slopes below and giving a few small flaps to keep her altitude. She slowly arced her flight down so that she was facing the northwest, heading toward the edge of the mountains.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah looked at the dragon and asked Kegan, "Why do you like it?" then looked back to Kegan to wait for an answer. She heard an eery howl in the distance and shivvered as the sun dissappeared behind the trees to the west. A slightly cold breeze blew past the rideress, causing a chill to go up her spine. She moved back, closer to the mountain which was sure to still be at least slightly warm.
Arcus nodded to Alna'ir and flew after her. His multicolored wings caught the last rays of sunlight as the sun sank beneath the horizon to the West. He sighed audibly and said to Alna'ir, Do you think that Sarah and Kegan are alright with that dragon?

Re: A bad feeling
"I said it once and I'll say it again: I have no connection to that dragon!" Kegan yelled, angered. What would it matter if he wanted to be the dragon's friend? He started a small fire in front of him, trying to get warm. He pulled a small bread scrap out of his pack and toasted it over the fire. He ate it, feeling more warm.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir glanced at Arcus, thinking about Sarah and Kegan. They had seemed alright when the two dragons had left, and she couldn't imagine anything bad happening unless some other enemies found them. I think they're fine. That dragon's not getting out for a long time even if he tries. So unless Sarah or Kegan go in there with him, they should be alright, she replied with a reassuring smile. She glanced around, searching for the break in the mountains that would signal the end of that day's traveling. So far, the mountains looked continuous.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah rolled her eyes at Kegan and came over to the fire. She put her hands close enough to it to keep them nice and warm, but not close enough to burn them. Then she asked, "So, Kegan, when is your birthday? I know it is kind of nosy of me to ask, but I am kind of bored and a conversation would be nice other than the silence and the occasional growl of the dragon." said the rideress with an uneasy smile on her face as another, louder howl came from behind them.

"I don't know, really. I just celebrate it whenever it first snows," Kegan said, looking down. It made him sad that he didn't even know his own birthday. The hybrid boy shivered as he heard an ominous howl from behind him. He hunched over the fire. "What is over there?!" He hissed.

Re: A bad feeling
The flight drew on in silence, and though Na'ir wasn't tired of flying, she was beginning to long for the rest stop at the edge of the mountains. She would feel fresh and ready to go the next morning; ready for adventure. Also, the mountains weren't quite as pretty in the dark, and she didn't get the feeling of huge scale and magnitude at night here. Finally, after what seemed like hours, she noticed the open space between a few mountains. Ah, finally. Looks like we're almost there. Another day's flight should get us to Uru'baen tomorrow, she announced, her wingbeats increasing slightly as she sped toward the gap.
Eventually, they reached the edge of the mountains. Na'ir looked around at the rocky slopes, searching for a good, protected spot to rest. A small protrusion, sheltered on one end by pine trees, seemed perfect. Only one way onto it for ground-dwelling creatures, a wide view, and a sheltered space. Grinning in satisfaction, Na'ir angled her wings toward the prominance.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah shivvered once more when Kegan began to ask about what was around them. She said, "I don't know, but, I do know this, I am not staying right here, this has to be a beacon to the animals around here." said the rideress, indicating the fire. Sarah quietly slipped away from the fire and went straight toward the large evergreen trees. She did not know exactly what the things that were howling were, but she knew that being in a tree had to be better than on the ground with whatever "it" was.
Arcus sighed with relief when the place where they would rest for the night came into view. He said, Anothers day flight eh? Where will we stay when we get there, Galbatorix' soldiers will more than likely be on watch, what, with the war and such. said the multicolored dragon as he landed in the small clearing and promptly curled up. He asked, [i]Do you want me to stay up and watch?

Re: A bad feeling
"Well I don't know about you, but I'm not moving from this fire until it goes out" Kegan said. Whatever was out there would have to prove themselves to be fairly hostile to get the hybrid to move. He was pretty protective of fire he started, and always wanted to be around them to use them until they went out. If he didn't he felt a little bad on the inside, and wouldn't light another fire for a while.
He turned around, trying to make out what was approaching them. "Come out and fight," He called out, "Unless, that is, your scared of a ten-year-old boy?"

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir arched her wings, parachuting lightly down onto the rough stone. It crumbled and shifted under her claws, a fairly loud sound to dragon-ears. Nothing would be able to sneak up on them with this footing, unless it flew with complete silence. She glanced at Arcus. Well, actually, I suppose we're not going straight to Uru'baen, she replied with a sheepish grin. Was it time yet to reveal the trick up her sleeve? She did have a rather good plan, she thought. Oh, and you can stay up if you want. But if you do, wake me up for the next shift when the night's half over. We should be able to see and hear anything coming for miles, she added.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah sighed with annoyance at Kegan's stubbornness, and from her vantage point, halfway up the tree, casted a spell. The spell allowed her to see the same way that dragons, and birds did. She looked about the clearing and saw thet their small camp was surrounded literally by dozens of shrrg. The giant wolves never came into the firelight, but lurked in the shadows, waiting for the chance to attack, or get food. She said to Kegan, "Umm, you mught want to come up here, there are shrrg all around us, and the fire won't scare them for long, I don't think they can climb, so you should be safe up here, but I would not wait long about coming up here." said the rideress as she nocked an arrow to her bow and drew back, ready to shoot the first wolf to come toward Kegan.
Arcus looked oddly at Alna'ir and asked, I thought we were going straight to Uru'baen, getting, or trying to get the eldunari then getting back to Kegan and Sarah, what did you have in mind? said the dragon who was now fully awake and very curious about the new events.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan jumped up. He turned around, and breathed a giant column of fire at where he thought the shrrg were. He lightly burned one, but the rest managed to avoid his fiery wrath. Then they ran at him, growling loudly. He ran as fast as he could towards Sarah, who was in a tree. He jumped into the tree. "I'll admit it, your plan was better. Now do me another favor and help me save our lives!" He yell breathlessly.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir let out a laugh of amusement. Well, we would, if that was the safest thing to do. But there are these tunnels, see... well, I know about a system of ancient caves that runs really, really deep under Uru'baen. My mom knew about a whole bunch of different caves that are really deep, and almost nobody knows about them. I've been investigating them a little, and now I know how to get under Uru'baen without the king knowing. Well, at least until we go to the surface. But anyway, the safest entrance to that system is located in some ridges to the northeast of the city, she explained, grinning the whole time. She loved relaying secret knowledge; it made her feel adventurous.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah immediately began to shoot arrow after arrow at the shrrg that were persuing Kegan. She killed the first one, then the second. Once Kegan was close enough to grab, she held out her hadn and yelled, "Grab my hand, I will help pull you up!" screamed the woman as she began to go even higher up the tree to get away from the shrrg that were leaping into the air to get at them. When she got high enough to be safe, she saw that they had made a mistake, they were in the worst tree possible! It was too far away from the others to jump and the shrrg were now circling the tree, waiting for one of them to fall...
Arcus looked at Alna'ir with suprise. He said, So, we will ge all the way under Uru'baen until we get to the castle? What about the magicians as well as Galbatorix himself? They will be sure to be searching for anything unusual, and that includes minds, they are likely to find us down there, and I don't know about you, but I would not be of much use in a tunnel, I need room to manuver.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan grabbed Sarah's hand and climbed high up into the tree. He breathed fire all over the place at the shrrg that were surrounding the tree. One yelped, and fell over. It had both an arrow in it's side, and it was burning. This gave him an idea. He didn't want to take any time to discuss out of their fighting time, so as Sarah was firing an arrow, Kegan, without any warning, set the tip of it on fire. By the time it reached the creature, the fire on the arrow was very hot. It hit the beast, and it fell over, dead. He grinned, satisfied with the combination of metal and fire.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir shook her head, sorely tempted to roll her eyes once more at Arcus's worries. No, no. The tunnels I know about are a complete secret. Galbatorix won't be able to detect us in them. Once we're under his Eldunari room, we'll get pretty close before they'll be able to detect us. We'll get much closer this way than if we had snuck in another way. And as for your claustrophobia, the deep tunnels are very large, and only get smaller when you get closer to the surface. We'd have to go down in them anyway to get to the Eldunari, she explained with an optimistic smile. Just trust me, we'll be fine. We're fast dragons, and sneaky. This shouldn't be too difficult, she added.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah smiled, glad to have Kegan's ingenuity on her side. She was also glad that her arrows were made from ironwood, they would not burn much at all, and were as hard as iron, but they were lighter than iron-tipped arrows. She quickly ran out of arrows, and had to cast a spell that would draw the arrows out of the wolves and bring them back to her quivver. She rested against the tre trunk and sighed tiredly. She looked at Kegan and said, "Lets rest some, they only want something to eat, it is the nature of things." said tehe rideress as she watched the injured and dying creatures drag themselves into the forest.
Arcus smiled and said, Ok, I know I seem overly cautious, but the fact is, I have to get back to Sarah, one way or another. said the dragon as he shifted his weight and caused some rocks to cascade down the steep slope. He moved until he was cofortable and said, Ok, I will wake you when the night is half over.

Re: A bad feeling
"Agreed." Said the boy. He laid back in the tree he was in, trying not to look down. He hoped the creatures would leave soon, he really hoped they left soon, for the life of everyone in that general area. He sat his pack down on a large and empty branch, shuffling through its contents. Some clothes, some water, a tiny big of ale... He was hoping something to eat would be in there. He sighed and closed the pack, disappointed.
OOC: Aren't dragons supposed to show up pretty soon, to escort the black dragon away?

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Sometime the next morning, I believe they will show up. IC: Na'ir smiled. I know you're only trying to be careful. Just try and have more faith. We'll get this mission completed and you'll be back with Sarah very soon, my friend, she said with a decisive nod. She glanced at the dark sky overhead, riddled with stars. Yes, you do that. Goodnight, Arcus, she said when he spoke. Na'ir glanced around for a good place to sleep. She wandered over to the stand of pines and curled up a little outside of them. Her form was hidden in their shadow, yet she was still out under the beautiful night sky. The stars were always riveting, no matter where one was. In the mountains, forest, plains, or ocean, they still shone with the same silver glow. Na'ir rested her head on her foreclaws to sleep.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah rested her head on the tree and waited for morning, not long after, she fell into a deep sleep. The next morning, she woke up early. The shrrg were asleep beneath them and the sun was not even up yet. She looked over at Kegan and whispered, "Lets get out of this tree."
Arcus woke Alna'ir just as he was suppost to and fell deep into sleep. The next morning, he woke and walked over to Alna'ir and said, Ok, where to now? I am ready to get this trip done with, I have other things to do. said the dragon sarcastically.

Re: A bad feeling
"I'd be cool with that" The hybrid boy said as he eased his way down the tree. When he reached a point where he'd have to jump, he did just that. He jumped over all of the shrrg, running over to the campsite the two were at yesterday. The dragon in the cave was still awake, but had calmed down quite a bit. Actually, the little boy thought he saw some peace in the dragon's eyes. He smiled at the dragon, and then proceeded to sit where he was the night before, and pretended that the dragon was a good friend of his, and he had to get it out of the cave before it was starved to death.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir roused quickly when Arcus woke her. She slowly stood and paced over to the edge of the prominance. For the rest of the night, she crouched comfortably at its edge, scanning the horizon and the mountainside behind her. The night was peaceful and silent, though, without disturbance. She glanced at the colorful dragon when he woke and then approached her, asking where next. Well, today's going to be more traveling. Then the real excitement begins. Hopefully we can get in and out of Uru'baen quite quickly, she said brightly. She stood up and scanned the land below the mountain, searching for breakfast before leaving.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah looked at Kegan oddly when he went and sat back in the middle of their camp with the wolves only a few hundred yards away. She said into his mind so the shrrg would not hear, The dragon will be ok, I don't know of a wolf, or even a pack of wolves that can even almost take a dragon, get over here! If they rush you, they will likely kill you, get what you need and meet me on the mountain, I am some hundred feet above you, I hear wingbeats and they must be the dragons Alna'ir and Arcus sent.
Arcus grinned at Alna'ir and said, Yes, it should be oodles of fun, lets get going. said the dragon as he leapt into the air. He flew a few minutes, then hsi stomach growled loudly. He got an embarrassed look on his face and quickly located some mountain goats. He flew over to them, killed a few and ate them. He showed Alna'ir the location mentally and waited on her.

Re: A bad feeling
As Sarah talked to him, Kegan realized something. The dragons and her had the ability to talk into his mind! He felt stupid for not realizing that up until then. But, there was another task at hand. He had to meet Sarah up on the mountain. He ran off out after the mountain. He began hearing wing beats. He ran faster, and took to the shadows. He took cover behind a rock as the dragons landed, and tried his best to conceal himself..

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir shook her head at Arcus's sarcasm, though with a smile. She watched as he flew off the cliff, and then got a mental image of some mountain goats. Ah, perfect. Thanks, Arcus, she replied and promptly dove off the ledge. Her large wings slowly pulled out and her fall turned into a graceful swoop and then an even glide over the valley below. Na'ir stayed low above the trees, heading straight for the cliffside where the mountain goats dwelled. She flapped her wings hard suddenly, pulling up along the cliff and snatching out with her claws to snag one of the white creatures. She kept going as she did, rising above the cliff before smoothing her flight once more. The whole maneuver had been very swift, enough so to startle the mammals. She bit into her prey hungrily, glad to have some food at last.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah walked to the top of the small mountain to meet the dragons. She smiled as five large males and female dragons landed. They were all big, and had many scars which gave them a fearsome look. Sarah gave them a happy smile and asked, Are you the dragons who were sent here by Alna'ir and Arcus? Once the dragons answered, she said, Good, then let me show you to where the dragon is. She lead them down the mountain and walked to the cave. The dragons all growled and began to enter the cave. Sarah moved back to avoid any harm that may come.
Arcus smiled as Alna'ir soared past. He leapt into the air and flew after her. He was pleased with himself, he had found some food for them both and he was full, two things that mattered to him. He flew after her for a while and caught up after a few minutres. He asked, So, will the hidden entrance be to the North or South of Uru'baen?

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan got up when he heard Sarah in the clearing with the dragons. He ran up to her, his eyes bright with question. He noticed large dragons all going into the cave. "Okay, you going some 'splainin' to do miss!" He said. "Firstly, how do you talk into my head. Second, can you teach me how to! It sounds like fun..." The boy began rambling on about mind powers, until he himself didn't even know what he was saying. Then, he smacked himself across the face so he would shutup. "Sorry, I do that sometimes..."

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir ate as she flew. She could just start to feel the new energy course into her blood, and it made her wings feel suddenly lighter. The air rushed past her in cold gusts, but warmer than they had been. They were leaving the mountains and heading northwest toward the plains of the Empire. A small section of desert lay in front of them first, however. She glanced at Arcus when he asked where the entrance was. It's about a... probably twenty-minute flight to the northeast, she replied with a grin, The ridges are located within a wide bend of the river. She swooped and flapped higher a little as she flew, enjoying the freedom of the sky.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah watched as Kegan walked into the clearing yellign something about talking into minds and said, "Hold on one minute, and stay back, thery are moving the rocks to get the dragon out, and then comes the dangerous part." said the woman as she heard a huge roar and saw the black dragon nearly break free of the other dragons, but luckily the others were large enough to tackle it to teh ground and subdue it. Then Sarah said, "I just project my thoughts into your head, it is useful to talk to others when you need quiet. Also, just use your mind and think what you want to say." said Sarah as she casted the spell needed to hold the dragon still while they flew. She used the energy of the guard dragons to do it, so that it would not take as much energy from the forest.
Arcus growled happily and began to fly higher, just above the clouds to avoid being seen and then angled himself to fly in a northeastern direction. It took him about twenty-five minutes to get there, but he arrived at the right place. He looked at Alna'ir and asked, Do you want me to go first, since I am slightly larger and more likely to survive an attack?

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan listened intently, and watched the cave with almost the same curiosity. "But... How do I enter someone's mind myself?" He asked. He was also thinking about if it was a fighting style. That would be strange, fighting with your mind. He continued to watch the dragons pin down the black with interest..
OOC: Sorry, short...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir shook her head as she swooped down. You will not know the way through the tunnels. Until we get under Uru'baen, we aren't in danger of attack anyway, and it will take a few hours to get there, she replied. She beat her wings hard to slow her descent and landed gracefully atop a long, low ridge. The other ridges stretched out to all sides. In the distance, she could see a sparkling river to the north. To the southwest, though they were too distant to see it yet, was the dark city itself.
Na'ir picked her way down the rocky slope, swerving between the scraggly trees. She could see what looked like the entrance of a small cave under a rock overhang on a cliff, but was actually the gateway to something much larger. To her vision, several tunnels stretched down under the ridges, and she knew they extended down much farther into the earth. They would be venturing into the darkest depths imaginable.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah said, "You simply look with your mind, find another person's, or thing's consciousness, or the shiny thing, then probe it by extending your own mind, when we have more time, I wil teach you how to do it, but for now we need to go with these dragons." said the rideress as she jumped on the back of an iron gray dragon and began to fly. She said, "You better hurry, the dragons won't wait on you and the shrrg are sure to still be near." said the rideress as she laughed loudly.
Arcus looked at Alna'ir and said, Fine, but when we get closer to Uru'baen, I will lead the way. said the dragon as he walked into the tunnel and left the light behind, soon after, they were in complete darkness.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan ran after the dragons, yelling at them to wait. Most of them took off without even looking at the hybrid boy. One of them, though, was a little late for takeoff. Kegan took advantage of this, running in front of the dragon before it took off. "Can... I... ride you to the mountain?" He asked breathlessly.
Why sure you can! The dragon said to him. The boy hopped on the dragon's back. Next time though, the dragon advised, you should try contacting us with your mind if you want to ride.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir led the way into the tunnel. She shook her head at Arcus's comment, though did not dispute it. With her fighting skills (or rather lack of them), it was probably best she was not in front in the latter places of their journey. Closer to Uru'baen, there would be more risk of encountering soldiers or traps. She could deal with traps alright, as long as she could avoid them or counter them with magic, but soldiers she was not good with. She hated fighting, and did not like the thought of killing a fellow intelligent creature, even if it was trying to kill her.
She moved quickly down into the darkness, her inherited part of her mother's sight guiding her steps. The further down they went, the darker it would get. Not even a dragon's night-vision could see in the gloom. Seeing no enemies approaching, Na'ir kept her scales glowing dimly to hold the blackness at bay.

OOC: Pass with Sarah.
IC: Arcus grunted a 'thankyou' to Alna'ir when she created a small light with her scales. He walked behind her in complete silence. He walked after her and observed how the light given off by Alna'ir bounced off of his multicolored scales and created a small rainbow around them as they walked. He asked, How far until we switch places, because I will need you to put out you light there, mainly because your light will bounce off of my scales and likely alert the soldiers, or magicians, or even citizens of Uru'baen to our presence.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir continued walking and gave a quick nod to Arcus. Don't worry, I know where we are. When we start getting close to the upper tunnels, I'll dim my scales. Obviously I'm not going to stride down the higher tunnels with my scales glowing, she replied with a snort. Why did everyone get all nervous and snappy when her scales were glowing? She wasn't dumb; she knew when not to be lit like a torch.
Na'ir gazed down the many passages of the catacombs as they passed them, sometimes taking a sharp turn. They had reached the deepest point of their journey, and the tunnels still continued down into darkness unending. Sometimes she turned off the main path or down a different way, taking the longer route to avoid some passages. Some of the tunnels led into larger rooms, where the floor dropped away into a shadowy oblivion not even she could see the bottom of. She didn't know what lurked in those shadows, but from what she had been told about this place, there could be great danger down there. She did not want anything to slow their path, or stop it. Whatever was living or existing down there could be potentially fatal.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah looked back at Kegan and could not supress her small laugh. The hybrid was clinging onto teh dragon with all his strength. She said, "Don't hold on so tightly, because if the dragon has to flex, you will fall off, instead grip with your legs and knees, use your hands to hold onto the spike in front of you!" yelled the rideress to the hybrid, trying to help him to get better at his dragonriding. Then she yelled again, "Don't be so stiff, moved fluidly like the dragon, don't fight the dragon, you will only lose, just move as it does, if it swerves left, you do the same, and such!" yelled the woman.
Arcus continued to walk after Alna'ir. The caves were now darker than ever he had seen, but the light that came off off Alna'ir was enough to see by. He heard something move in the deep and asked, Have you ever heard stories of creatures living down in these caves, I mean, like dragons, or maybe monsters?

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan tried his best to do as Sarah said. He kept failing at it, though, and kept getting really close to falling off. He began getting frustrated. Eventually, though, he got a good hold on a neck spike. He felt himself calm down, and un-stiffen. He waved a thanks to his Rider friend.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir continued walking, warily eyeing the tunnels to the sides. When she heard a small noise, she froze. I know what you're getting at, and yes, I have. My parents have faced things down in the depths of the world... and they know of stories and legends, of terrifying creatures and entities that dwell in the deepest of darkness... you know, you should meet them. They have a lot of information about Alagaesia and other places, Na'ir said, her voice at first low and serious, but then she gave a small smile as she joked around.
Her smile disappeared as she slowly turned her head to look behind Arcus. She couldn't see anything, yet, but one of the tunnels that led to a passage into the abyss was just behind them. Eh-em... Best if we keep moving, she said with apprehension, turning back and keeping all her senses on high alert.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah smiled as Kegan finally got the hang of dragon riding. She knew that one day it could likely save his life. They flew for hours until they finally landed in a small, secluded crater in the middle of one large mountain. Sarah sighed as she hopped off of the dragon she had been riding and coughed when the ash and soot stirred as she hit the ground. She stretched and yawned audibly and asked, "How far to the palce where he will be held?" the dragons answered her, saying it was only a day or so until they got there. She smiled and said, "Only about two days left Kegan."
Arcus, on the other hand was doing anything but smiling. He was stil far from the surface, in a dark palce full of ancient dangers, and his only help was a female dragon, albeit a powerful one with powers of sight, as well as light, but he was not so sure that they could handle themselves against those ancient creatures whose' only refuge was that far beneath the earth. He asked once more, Are we almost there?

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan began growing excited with riding a Dragon. It was quite thrilling to him, now that he had the hang of it. He had never imagined something like it before. With the wind in his face, feeling free, etc. Of course, with his luck, the Dragons landed for the night on a particularly sooty area. Dust was always one of those things that really bothered him. He tried to hide it as best as he could, but still he made it very clear that he wasn't taking a liking to the ash when he started sweeping it away.
Some of the soot, he moved with magic when nobody was looking at him. His fire secret was already known to Sarah, Arcus, and Alna'ir, and he intended to make sure the other dragon didn't know. As for his use in magic, he wanted only himself knowing that particular bit of information.
He set up his tent, and eagerly went inside. He was still wondering about the mind-talking-thing. He hoped he could figure out a way to deflect thoughts, as well. He didn't exactly appreciate people digging around in his thoughts...

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir shrugged at Arcus. About an hour and then we'll start our ascent. So about two hours before we're in position to make our strike, she replied, her voice not betraying her nervousness. This place itself was enough to make any dragon nervous, or at least very alert for danger. The task ahead was starting to get to her as well. Na'ir had never been very close to Uru'baen, even though she knew what it looked like. She had never faced a horde of Empire soldiers or gotten past dozens of magical barriers or stolen anything as important as an Eldunari. Though she didn't doubt herself, she was still anxious about getting hurt or worse, having something bad happen to Arcus. She was the one who had insisted they take this riskier route rather than kill the dragon, so it would be her fault if anything happened to him. OOC: Up to you if you want some critter to attack them yet, or just want a quiet trip. lol

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Do you know me at all, lol?
IC: Sarah slept soundly despite the soot and ash that night. The crater was warm from the magma deep beneath the surface, and the height of the volcano caused the stars to be perfectly visible in the night sky. The next morning, however, she was rudely woken. The black dragon, it seemed had managed to attack one of the other dragons that morning, and both of them were injured and bleeding. The dragon that had been attacked had recieved the worst of it, however the black still had some broken bones, as well as was bleeding. Sarah walked out over to Kegan and said, "Time to get up, and you better hurry, the dragons are pretty mad at the black one and are not going to put up with things for much longer." said the rideress as she packed her belongings and walked toward the dragon she would ride.
Arcus nodded to Na'ir and settled down to rest for a short while. He was tired, and knew that he had to be at the "top of his game" when they came out of the tunnel and went for th eldunari. He, despite the eerieness of the tunnel was soon sleeping soundly in the tunnel. His deep grunting snores soon echoed throughout the tunnel, into the dark depths of the abyss they went, and in there, they woke something. The beast was small, however, it was nimble, fast, and stronger than any urgal, or human put together. It had larg ehands and feet, as well as huge claws, out of which oozed a poisonious liquid. It crawled silently through the catacombs toward the sound, the sound of meat...

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Sorry for the wait.
IC: Kegan drowsily got up. His jaw nearly dropped to the ground as he saw the bloody mess. He nodded blankly as Sarah suggested that he hurried up. He gathered his things up and crammed them into his pack as quickly as possible. The hybrid quickly ran over to one of the dragons and asked as politely as possible if he could ride. With the dragon's consent, the boy climbed onto it's back. He waited in silence until the dragons took off.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: And that's why I put the smiley with the shades, voenth. Because I do know you to some degree. lol IC: Na'ir layed herself down near the edge of the tunnel, recognizing that they would need all their strength for later. Even though she tried not to sleep, her eyes eventually closed as she dozed off. The complete silence and blackness of the depths down here was soothing, in a strange way. It made her feel at peace. However, that was until she heard a small scritching sound in her light sleep.
Her head bolted up, green eyes shot wide and gazing around. Before she could turn to look behind her, a small shape launched itself out of the blackness. Long fingers gripped like spiderwebs around her neck, latching for a hold. Na'ir bolted upright and bucked, her scales suddenly flooding the tunnel with blue-silver light and her jaws emitting a roar of fear.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Ben, I have a very...eventful idea, how about the black dragon escaping, carrying Kegan off to Uru'baen, and Sarah following on foot after them, where they all meet up, and rescue the dragon's eldunari right before the black dragon adn Galbatorix stops them?

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: That's a cool idea, voenth. Just one question: what would get the guard dragons to be distracted or leave? The black dragon can't fly right now.

OOC: I wouldn't mind. It's just that, like Draco said, there are little things like why the guard dragons would pursue that make it hard to do.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Not sure yet, but I will come up with something, how about the black dragon (whatever his/her name will be) escape, capture Kegan and run off from the dragon fortress, then Sarah see it and follow? While the other dragons mill about in confusion as one of the leaders is killed in the escape?
IC: The rest of that day, there was an uneasiness between the dragons and the black dragon, however most all of it dissappeared when the dragons came within sighe of the dragon mountain. They were welcomed royally, and there were literally dozens of dragons all over the mountain. The sighe made Sarah sile warmly. When she had jumped off of the dragon she had been riding, she was confronted by an elderly gray dragon who said, Are you Sarah, the rideress of the dragon Arcus? asked the dragon, to whom Sarah responded saying, "Yes, that is me. This elf and human hybrid is Kegan, a close friend of mine. We would appreciate a place to sleep, some food, and we would really like for you to take care of the black dragon, like lock it up somewhere that it cannot get to either myself, or my friend." asked Sarah who smiled sweetly to the dragon.
Arcus was wokem up by a terrifying roar. It suprised him so much, that he rose to his feet and hit his head on the celing of the tunnel, causing a large knot to form on the top of his head. He looked about, but the bright light form Alna'ir's scales blinded him. He roared in fright and began to grope about, looking for Alna'ir, and moreso for what it was that was causing her to roar in such a way. He said, What is going on?! roared the dragon as he attempted to find out what he was fighting.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Hey, I have an idea for you guys. If you want, I can take the role of Dark Talon (my trusty new NPC) and we can have some flying shadow beasts attack the mountain. (Just a few, though.) While they're distracted, though, the black dragon can attack the leader of the guard group (maybe killing him) and escape with Kegan. That work?
IC: Na'ir had to force herself to dim her scales as Arcus cried out, for she knew she'd blind him if she kept it up. With one powerful thrash of her neck and shoulders, the creature was flung off her neck and into the cave wall. It disappeared into the darkness almost immediately, and Na'ir's eyes darted around wildly, trying to find it again. Something attacked me! It has really long fingers and claws, and it was trying to latch onto my neck! she exclaimed, moving closer to Arcus and keeping her eyes trained on the dark passages. She could see down them, but nothing was moving, and it unnerved her. The creature had seemed to disappear into thin air. It's still down here, she whispered, crouching and keeping her muscles tensed.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Draco! You took my turn! You bad, bad person! (jk jk) Sorry for not responding earlier. Kegan could feel the tension in the air all day between the dragons. Everyone was on edge, as if they were about to snap. Strangely more, they all seemed to be comforted when a mountain came into view. Some time later, the boy was able to see that the mountain was crawling with dragons. Must be some kind of Dragon headquarters or something, He thought.
As they finally landed on the mountain, Kegan jumped off of the dragon he was riding. The hybrid was feeling incredibly small with all of the dragons around. He couldn't help but be as close to the black dragon as the guard dragons would permit. They were most likely the only two there that weren't feeling comfortable, and Kegan strangely found comfort in the black's presence.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: It is gonna be up to you how and when the black dragon escapes & kidnaps Kegan, Ben.
IC: Arcus blinked when Na'ir dimmed her light and looked about, still slightly dazed by the blindingly bright light, as well as the knock he took to the head by his swift rising form the ground. He looked about and asked, Ok, which way did it go, I will try to go and find that thing, and hopefully kill it. said the dragon as he clumsily staggered through the tunnel back toward the place where Na'ir had talked about a bottomless abyss.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: I suppose I could do that now.
IC: Kegan shifted slightly on one of his feet. A feeling of uneasy quiet seemed to spread across the mountain. He was about to ask why, when his question was answered. He looked up to the sky. It had turned a pitch black. Upon closer inspection, Kegan realized that it was a bunch of black beasts.
A terrible shriek pierced the air. The beasts swooped down, attacking the dragons. The dragons were at a disadvantage. Several pained roars erupted from their throats. Kegan began trembling, and tried to keep himself concealed. If they didn't see him, maybe he could survive?
OOC: How about that? I could edit it if you like.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Okay, back in the right order. Heheh. And it looks like you guys have that event covered. lol
IC: Na'ir shook her head, forcing herself to calm down. The shock of being woken in such a manner made her feel a little shaky, but she took a few deep breaths and regained her focus. Sorry about blinding you. It went down that way, and I saw it turn right up there. One of the really deep-leading rooms is down that hallway, she replied, slinking up toward the tunnel she had last seen the creature scurry down. She paused just before its entrance, staring down it. She could see the entire tunnel, and knew the beast wasn't anywhere nearby. However, the deep, endless pit beyond was hard to make out with all the rock in the way. It was probably hiding somewhere in there. There might be more, too. It's not anywhere I can see, she added, her eyes narrowed.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah heard the roars, as well as the screeches of pain and battle. She imediately ran to the closet in her room and pulled out her dagger, as well as her bow. She opened the window to her room and began to shoot at the beasts with her iron-wood arrows, however, they had no effect. She cursed and brought her arrows back to her with her magic, then re-formulated her plan. She casted a small spell upon her arrows and sent them wizzing down upon the evil monsters, and they did not even have much of an affect, however it was the best she could do.
Arcus nodded to Na'ir and walked quietly toward the entrance of the abyss. He looked at her again and snorted quietly. He had to go down there and at least see what that "thing" was, especially since, it mught be in league wiht Galbatorix and it would be their deaths if that thing got back to him and alerted Galbatorix to their position.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan could only watch in terror as the dark beasts and the dragons fought. The beasts had the advantage of numbers, and of surprise, but not of skills. The hybrid, too caught up in the action, didn't notice the black dragon that had almost killed him escape the guards. It easily slipped away amid all the chaos.
Kegan shivered and looked all around. He could see everybody, even Sarah. Hopefully they all couldn't see him. He shivered again. He felt as if he were being watched. As if someone's eyes were burning into him.
In the blink of an eye, he was on the ground. He screamed. As his vision cleared, he saw the black dragon. He calmed some, but was still scared out of his wits. You're coming with me. The king would surely give me my wings back to have you, It's voice rumbled in his mind.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir kept her eyes trained on their surroundings, scanning the dark hallways for any sign of another creature. It could easily be hiding in the gloom of the farther stretches. She stepped into the tunnel after Arcus, guessing he wanted to find and kill the creature, which could be a good idea. The blue dragoness stayed silent, staring ahead occasionally to see if anything was moving in the deep, seemingly bottomless pit beyond them. They slowly came up to the room with the deep hole, and it looked as though they were alone. The creature was not in the main room, though it could be hiding in a side tunnel or deeper in the hole. Na'ir's eyes couldn't be everywhere.

Sarah continued to shoot arroows inot the ranks of the dark beasts, mainly wounding them enough for the warlike dragons to take care of, but every now and again killing one with a particularly good shot. She continued this process until it seemed that finally they would win. She left the major part of the battle to look for Kegan and left it up to the dragons themselves to defend their home. She searched and searched, however all she could find were some of the posessions of her little friend. She continued her search into the surrounding forests, thinking that maybe that he had hidden in the forest when the attack had begun. However, what she did see was very frightening. She saw large, deep tracks, tracks only made by dragons. Then she ran to the cell that the black dragon was being held in and saw that the guards were dead and that the cell was open. She screamed with rage and ran into the forest, she was hunting the dragon...
Arcus crept further into the darkness. The coldness of the abyss sent chills up and down his spine, however he could not look like a coward in front of Na'ir. He went further in. He could not see it, but he did hear the echos of the monster breathing, as well as the cackling laughter of it deeper in the tunnel. It was hard to tell where exactly the sounds were coming from because of how it echoed across the tunnel, then it stoped making sounds. The cave became deathly quiet, and Arcus became nervous.

Re: A bad feeling
"Um... I'm going to be nice and clear about this. I don't care that you're taking me. But what I do care about is that you're taking me to Galbatorix. Not. Cool. So, I will offer you this. Release me, and I will get your wings back. Trust me, and you will get what you desire," Kegan said. He really had no clue how he was going to get the dragon's wings fixed, but it would keep him alive longer.
Apparently the dragon had caught on to Kegan's ignorance, and then said, I can see your thoughts, boy. I know that you do not have the skill to fix me. Besides, what do you think I've been tracking you for? For fun? No. I have to. Even if I wanted to accept your offer, Galbatorix's hold on my very being wouldn't allow me to.
