The Rise of Ardonia
This is a fanfic about my newest RP character Demondred. It take place way before the any of the rps I think and isn't in Alagaesia. Hope you enjoy Chapter 1: Beginning of Darkness
Outside the village of Shiyanar Demondred stood atop his great horse. The horse was pure white and strong as all war horses were. A massive sword in his hand as he stared in the direction of Ardonia's capital. He had heard the call of arms and went out to join Ardonia's armed forces. None others from his villages would, ut he could understand, since they all but worshiped him. The queen was a fool, to not realize what he had done to his village. He was the undisputed ruler of Shiyanar. Those he couldn't manipulate or take control of he killed. Shiyanar was safe, even so he wouldn't care. He had his own plans in joining the army. Kicking his horse's flanks he made off into the distance towards the capital. It would be a few days ride but he was prepared. True, he could always fly there on dragon form, but he preferred his human form.
The plains of Ardonia rushed by him as he horse galloped. A two day journey it would be, but he was prepared to take it. Ardonia was a modest sized nation surrounded by economic and military powers. To the north was the Kingdom of Magrhud, a long time ally of Ardonia. The kingdom was a mostly dragon land due to it controlling the entire Norid Mountain Range. To Ardonia's east was the Ceridel Empire, a large nation though comprised of only a few cities, several villages, and a massive capital. To the south was the Principality of Neradad and west was the country of East Narenborg. As for why Demondred was answers the call to arms was simple, the queen had declared war on the Ceridel Empire. Though Ceridel was much more powerful than Ardonia at the time, the queen was certain of victory once she managed to get a slave revolt going in the empire. Still Demondred paid no mind. That wasn't his reason for war, though the queen was told others wise. As they day passed on, he road passed several villages and cities. Some were as small as he native Shiyanar while others were massive and covered up several miles of land. Above him dragons flew, the sight made him cringe, dragons, nothing but beasts in his mind. Other than the dragons and a few humans he passed no others, it was late fall and the farmers of the villages he passed were too busy getting the rest of their harvest. On the second day of his journey he ran into a large contingent of soldiers for other areas of Ardonia, answering the queen's call to arms.
No officers were with them, they just met on their way to the capital. Most were humans, a few elves, and even to his disgust three dragons. Though a few shape shifters also were with them they and humans were the most common races in Ardonia. One of the soldiers with them was a man just a bit shorter than Demondred. He had wavy black hair and piercing blue eyes. Strange black robes on him told Demondred he was a skilled magic user. "I see you took command of these soldiers on the way to the capital?" Demondred said, it wasn't a question. "I did." War Soren's reply. Instantly, Demondred begun to use Compulsion. Soren's eyes shined over as the magic took its work, "You will hand over command of these soldiers to me. You will think it was your own idea. You will remember nothing of this." Once it was over, Soren's eyes returned to normal. He shook his head and glaned at Demondred, "I am the leader, but maybe you should lead, you look as if you're experienced. Though I suppose you'll have to hand over control to the general once we arrive." "Oh we'll see about that." Demondred said with a dark laugh.
As they marched towards the capital several more groups of soldiers were seen as they answered the queen. Thousands of soldiers, perhaps the entire Ceridel armed forces. Glancing at Soren he decided the man would make a skilled leader. He seemed inexperienced now, but Demondred could tell with training Soren would be great general of war. Glancing ahead, the gates of the capital were open though the soldiers had to wait outside for the queen. Only the guards of the city would remain behind during the war. It was the first time in over a half century Ardonia marched to war. Demondred smirked, if his plans were right it would be the last time there was war on this continent, though it would come at a great expense to the peoples living here.
The capital was massive, the castle could be seen jutting out into the sky, its towards and pillars spiraled so high that dragons were amazed by the feet. Speaking of dragons, several dragons seemed to be in the army, it disgusted Demondred, but there was nothing as of yet he could do. Mansions were all over the city along with massive sized houses. Smoke came rising up from forges and other buildings. Smells of the city rushed at him, he took a deep smelt, soon it would be his, all of it. Ardonia would be in the shadows of her neighbors no more once Demondred had his way with things. Still, the queen disappointed him, worrying about slaves in other lands. She was human, humans were the second most superior race, only under Shape Shifters to Demondred. How dare she worry about slaves, even human slaves. He stood near the front of the soldiers, a position he made on purpose to show how important he was. True, he was currently just a soldier, but a soldier with plans, great plans.
The queen walked out of the city, flanked by her two guards, one of which was her husband, the king. She was beautiful than any man would be stunned at her sight. A long red gown draped from her back giving her a regal appearance. A smile went across her face as she looked at them, her eyes twinkling in the sun. The people of Ardonia loved her, but the very sight of her made Demondred sick. He would show them the proper way soon to deal with the inferior beings. Stepping in front of them the queen stared at all of her soldiers. Thousands upon thousands of trained soldiers along with several thousand civilians who answered her call to arms though they didn't have a day of military training. "My loyal soldiers!" she shouted out to them in a loud carrying voice, "Today you march to war under Ardonia's banner! We don't go to capture Ceridel but only to liberate the slaves that have suffered so long under the empire. At one time Ceridel banned slavery, but now they are growing aggressive towards their neighbors, already sweeping up the country of Ryunesar! It is our duty to free those enslaved, and to protect our own land from invasion. Brave soldiers of Ardonia, I regret to say many of you will not come back, but to those who don't, your memory for protecting our land will not be forgotten. Brave soldiers of Ardonia, let us fight-" Demondred didn't listen. He nodded and points and even gave small claps and cheers when the soldiers did, but he paid no attention. The words of the foolish queen were nothing to him. Only his plans matter, she, Ardonia, their general, and this was were just tools in his plans. Once everything was done, she annoucned the general, the sight sickened him, a dragon. "General Vulcanis will lead you to victory!" the queen shouted. The soldiers cheered, Demondred only stared in disgust. How dare the queen pick a dragon to lead! A mere dragon! In disgust, he paid no mind to what Vulcanis said and only followed the other soldiers. This would not stand, he would take command of the army and not allow a fool dragon to lead the army to its destruction!

Re: The Rise of Ardonia
Thanks =) Well, here's chapter 2
Chapter 2: Gathering
Vulcanis led the soldiers on to the east as they marched on towards Ceridel. Demondred paid little attention to the fool dragon's plans, he knew better than the so called general. Fool, the general wouldn't even bring Anvil a border city with Ceridel to the ground. Knowing better than the general he thought of plans to overthrow him. But yet as of now he would be unable, he first had to gain the respect of his fellow soldiers. Most of the soldiers were human, followed by shape shifters, elves, than dragons. Watching the dragons fly above them Demondred glared angrily, nothing but animals the savages were. He eyed them angrily, he gripped his sword and magic flowed into him but he did nothing, it wasn't time yet. He couldn't risk his plans he and his village thought of falling apart.
"Demondred, where are you from?" Soren asked. Demondred could tell the man was a powerful magic user, perhaps not as powerful as himself but still very strong, even for a human he could sense the power flowing through the man. Around him his fellow soldiers glowed as he studied them with Sensory. He could read their strengths and fears. The best way to move an army was to know what the feared and what was their strength. Also if any should turn, he knew how to dispose of them. Soren seemed a loyal man though, he doubted he needed to use Compulsion to get the sage over to his side. "I came from the village of Shiyanar it's a two days walk from the capital." A glint was in his eye, he had his own plans for the village. "Where are you from?" "Istarborge, it's a large city near the border of East Narenborg." "How skilled are you with magic?" he asked, though he could read it through Sensroy, he wanted to know just what Soren knew. Besides he wanted to see if he would lie to him. Already the soldiers around him were drawn to him. Once his conversation with Soren was done he moved to another strong looking human soldier.
Using Compulsion the man's eyes glowed as he went under the magic. As they walked Demondred said, "You will pledge your loyalty to me, not to General Vulcanis. The soldiers under your platoon you will pledge to me as well. You will think it your own idea, you will remember nothing of this." "As you command." The man replied. Once Demondred finished the Compulsion, the man swore loyalty to him. It was all he could do now while marching to Ceridel. Going to the army's back, he spoke with other magic users. One in particular's name was Bridget. He could sense great power from her, not only that, but she had a strong mind, he was certain he could still break it with Compulsion, but decided to try regular manipulation.
"Bridget," he started. "Capital Bridget, privet!" she ordered. She seemed a kind woman, but stern. He kept in a snarl at her attack; it would be slow moving with her. "What are you doing back here? Shouldn't you be with your own platoon commander?" "He allowed me to walk around." It was a lie, but he hadn't bothered speaking with his own commander. He'd have to deal with that later. Bridget looked as if she didn't believe it. Her long brown hair went to her back and her eyes were a bright green, but when starting at someone they seemed to pierce right through them. "Fine then, what would like?" "Just to talk, you know, one magic user to another. You are more powerful than me," she wasn't, but flattery would work better than arrogance, "So I would just like some tips from you. Not right now of course, but maybe when we stop?" Bridget glared at him, but he met her glare with an even stare. If anyone would back down he'd force her to back down. "We can speak of this later Privet. Now, get back to your post!" He glared at her, but did as he said, manipulating someone took time, and if they were a person to succumb quickly it wasn't someone he wanted to lead his forces. As he went back to his place he continued to walk in silence with the rest of the army. Already he had about fifty soldiers loyal to him, and around four hundred who would serve him since their platoon leader swore loyalty to him. He could feel it through sensory, those who fell to him by Compulsion and those who were attached to him by their leader swearing loyalty. A great feeling it was.
As the hours went by a few small bands of other soldiers and mercenaries joined them. Most were humans or shape shifters, but a few were elves and only a couple more dragons came. Finally they stopped for the night, and Demondred went to find Bridget. She was practicing magic with her own privets. He would have to speak to his platoon leader later, but he was weak, his mind shouldn't be to hard to take with Compulsion. "You again privet. What is your name?" she asked. "Demondred." He replied. "Where is your discipline? Is that how you speak to a capital privet!" Demondred smirked, "Bridget... you really think you can intimidate me?" he walked over to her and she flinched. Putting his had to her cheek he said, "You can have more power, you want that? I can give it to you?" She stared at him and shoved his arm away, "What are you thinking privet!" He laughed, "Don't you want power? You can have as much as you want. Come," he put out his hand. She glared at him but through Sensory he could see the moment of weakness in her mind. With that he attacked. Her eyes glowed as he spoke to her, "You will swear yours and your platoon's loyalty to me. You will not remember this, but you are not released from Compusion. You will serve me as I say, and do as I say." He didn't trust her being freed of Compusion, though others may find it odd that she suddenly did as he ordered, it wouldn't matter now. "Yes master." She said with bright eyes. He smirked Compulsion made the one under its control want to serve them, "What is your order?" "First, if there are elves in your platoon have them leave, tell them to go to the fort near the River of Aknul." "Yes master." Bridget replied. "You will still serve me obediently, but you will not make it so obvious, you may go." She saluted him and left. Turning towards the fires he went to find his own platoon commander.
Several hundred fires were lit around the camp as the soldiers sat, many speaking with the others, some singing war songs, and others drinking for the joy. Demondred sat and observed them. He sat by Soren, Bridget, and a few others he saw worthy to be high command. Around them horses nickered or ate grass a d a few war dogs snarled and snapped at people passing by. The joys of war Demondred called it. Laughing to himself he watched several soldiers mock fighting each other and a few dragons talking. Pitiful, they all were. Still days away from the Ceridel border he had time to gather followers in the army. Mercenaries wouldn't be difficult to convert, though he'd rather get their loyalty than have to spend money on them. Several sheep and cows were bought from farmers they passed by. The animals were pinned in and some butchered for meals that day. A few dragons came back carrying the corpses of deer, buffalo, or other animals. It was all they did for the night, while General Vulcanis discussed battle plans for the attack on Ceridel. Though wanting to be in there while tactics were being disgusted, he was pleased not to. He refused to admit a dragon was an equal, or a higher rank than he.
Staring around at the elves made him cringe even more. Sub human, they all were, nothing but trash in his eyes. Pointy eared humans, which was what he called them, a mutant of sorts on pure humans. Only shape shifter's were above humans, though shape shifting elves were just as bad as elves, though in Demondred's eyes slightly above pure elves, but still below humans. In his mind he had it all planned out, the social structure of what the world should be. Elves and dragons at the bottom, than elf shape shifters, followed by humans, than other shape shifters. True, Demondred could turn into a dragon like creature, but it wasn't a dragon, it was more of a wyvern, an ancient ancestor of the dragons that went extinct thousands of years ago.
On the next day the army moved out again, Demondred went to work and getting his own platoon commander to swear loyalty to him. One good thing about Compulsion was that when no one knew of it, it was hard to find a way to fight it, and even harder to resist since your mind didn't truly know what it was unless it was skilled while the soldiers mind's never had to worry of an invasion on their own mind.
