May the coming years bring you great happniess.' He mostioned for Eragon to bend closer. Very quietly, he whispered seven words of the ancient language, then even more softly tod him what they meant. That is a quote from Eragon, page 281. There is a ton of speculation about what they were. The most common are the name of the ancient language and Eragon's true name. What do you all think?

they can't be either, it's 7 words, too long.

7 words isnt too long for a name, the ancient language names dont have to conform to the 3 or 4 name rule,

If they were a powerful spell he could have destroyed Murtagh. So..idk..I think its his true name..

Yea true but he also said he was very tired, if it was a powerful spell, yes he could have used it to destroy murtagh but it might have taken up all his energy and killed him

but eragon doesnt know what the 7 words are himself, so even if it was a powerful spell he doesnt know when to use it

Um.. yes he does know what they mean. And we all know that it's not a word itself that describes what happens. The words just help focus the thoughts of the caster, thus why spells can be cast without any vocals at all. So he just has seven words that are probably very useful somehow, but he could use them any way he wanted to.

Didn't see what? it could be the name of the place where everyone sailed from in the beginning and would have to sail back to escape.

I do not think it's his true name. And remember, after Brom died, when Eragon was in prison and Durza asked him his true name, Eragon did not know it. I think it has something to do with death: healing yourself or others when you are near death, or a new way to kill people with magic that would bypass any wards the person would have on them.

Oh my... I didn't catch that. But I also think if they were important, the author would've said what they were, even more so when Brom told him what the words meant.

i agree with you about it not being Eragon's true name because of the reason you said but i disagree about the healing thing. If it were a healing spell eragon would have tried to use it and it cant be a spell to heal yourself when you are near death because if you are about to die then you dont have enough strength to use spells that require that much strength

Honestlly i have no idea what they could be. i complettlly forgot about that part. everytime you guys bring up a good i dea some one else soots it down.

the thing is, was it a "sentence", a group of words that made sense (maybe his name)
or was it seven diffrent words, each having its own purpose and meaning...

i think thats gonna be important.

ya that blessing idea sounds good. and we have seen that blessings in th AL have a great impact on others (elva for example)

Maybe it is only a few words and then the other of the seven words tells eragon what it means.

They could be long-forgotten spells..... Or one powerful spell.

Brom knew that Eragon would eventually go to the elves so it has to be some words that only Brom would know

It is almost as if CP forgot!!!! He left us hanging without any hints (that I know of!) or any other reference to them. Bad CP!!!! I think they are a very powerful-but risky- spell.
