Lord of the Rings
Ruben and I were talking about it on another topic, so I thought I'd just make a topic for the series.

Re: Lord of the Rings
I know that there is one somewhere around the lat page of the movies section. I haven't seen one for LOTR, but I'll take a closer look.
EDIT: There is one way back on page seven...

Re: Lord of the Rings
if the topic hasn't been discussed for over a year i think it's ok to open a new topic. if silver doesn't know of any other topic about LOTR, there must be no other.
So what do we talk about here? about the similarities between LOTR and Eragon?

Re: Lord of the Rings
I don't know. The similarities, how much authors have taken from it, LOTR IN GENERAL, THE MOVIES IF WE WANT.

Re: Lord of the Rings
Well... since this is in the book section... I would think it'd be about the books.

Re: Lord of the Rings
well it's obvious CP copied a lot from LOTR. the name of the hero says much about it: Aragorn-Eragon. i personally like LOTR more than eragon. it's more complex and Aragorn is more noble and attractive(not physically) than eragon. there is also Legolas and Gimli who are funny. i like that magic in LOTR isn't as present as in Eragon. i think there is something mentioned about magic on every page of the Inheritance Cycle, while Tolkien mentions it very rarely.

Re: Lord of the Rings
Very true. Have you noticed the similarities between the Raz'zac and the Nazgul and orcs and urgals? Also Arwen and Arya?
Now, something I'm confused about. Where does it say that Glorfindel defeated a Balrog, died, then brought back?
Oh, and the other topic hadn't been posted in for four years.

Re: Lord of the Rings
i don't know about glorfindel, but gandalf came back from the dead... and because of the similarity between Arwen and Arya, i think Eragon will end up with her.

Re: Lord of the Rings
Well, I keep reading in fanfiction that Glorfindel died but was then brought back. I just can't find it in the appendices.

Re: Lord of the Rings
maybe as you posted in another topic, eragon could die and come back from the dead like gandalf. the gods, or whatever, could send him back because he didn't finish his duty.

Re: Lord of the Rings
But it was never really specified that there were gods.
I just keep reading in fanfiction that that happened to Glorfindel.
I went to a history fair yesterday, and I'm glad I did, because guess what! There was a whole wall devoted to LOTR!!!!

Re: Lord of the Rings
I don't think there is one. They call the place after death 'the void'. In LOTR it's called Mandos's Halls.
