how do u thank the story wud have gone if brom lived?

probably better probably wors. who known? if brom lived, eragon whould completed his training whith him, but after that who knows what may had happend?

I think if he had not died the story would have been not as good probably but, when if was still alive and went with Ellesmera with Eragon I think that would have been a really good part.

Yeah he'd probably give some hints about it and he'd tell Saphira some more information.

Exacty and for some reason I think it would have made things worse and/harder for eragon and the other characters. Nothing would be the same as it is now, that's for sure. Somehow I think Brom's death made things afterwards perhaps a little easier but it also made it worse in some ways. But still the storyline would be different, yeah!

Yeah that's for sure. And for some reason I think eraon needs to know about his family, especially his father and like you said if he were still alive he probably wouldn't know what he should deserve to hear.

Hmm..perhaps. I have heard this theory and I just can't decide really. Morzan does make sense and Brom does too...a bit. I don't know for now, until we have proper proof or until we actually know who is eragon's father I guess I am more inclined to think it is Morzan than anyone else. But still all in good time my opinion may change...who knows.

something i realized when i read eragon a second time is that brom was sort of telling the reader that he was eragon's father. page 31 of Eragon says this:

His [Brom's] keen eyes inspected their interested faces. His gaze lingered on Eragon last of all.

somewhere else in the book(i don't remember where), cp tells us that brom was always nicer to eragon than anyone else. that can be another peice of evidence that eragon is brom's son

Quick question though and I foget if it has been mentioned or not but do you think Brom knew the first Eragon? I mean he is rather old and all and has been around for some ages now. Plus he could have been reminded of something else as well...but it does actually make some sense.

brom was only about 100 i think.. so no i dont think he ever met eragon the elf

Oh ok. I forgot about his age and all so I guess he wouldn't have known the first eragon. But there is probably a link between the two though.

I am going to say yes for this. There has to be some sort of link between the two. I mean one was an elf and the other was a human but now is taking on characteristics of an elf(in Eldest). There are so many clues and hints that CP gives us about the two and Brom I think saw something. Plus there's also got to be a link between the old Saphira and the new one. So I am going to guess yes for the next book, or at least I am hoping so.

Girl, and yes I suppose so as well. Someway their paths would have crossed because of what Murtagh was doing at the time.

Hmm...If only Murtagh didn't go to the bad side and serve Galby or rather, be forced to...to survive. Then perhaps they would have never met but this is where fate comes in. I think it was fate or something that brought them to meet/ get together. Destined to meet each other...after all they are brothers.

Let's just hope we don't find out that there is some sort of sister in the family. If that happens I think it might make things worse...but I am doubting it. But yes since, as you said, they are blood bound or in other words brothers their paths are tied whether they like it or not.

Then I say that Selena liked too many men. I will be polite on this site and stuff but if that was or turned out to be true then Selena liked way too many guys to begin with. But I don't think so and I agree I don't think Brom is Eragon's father either.

Well there is evidence really on both sides so far as to who exactly is Eragon's father, whether it be Morzan or Brom. For now though all that we have been given is belief and information that Morzan is Eragon's father. We really have not much on Brom or anything along that matter, even though there is evidence. Until one or the other is proven I will stick to what and who I think is Eragon's father: Morzan. But, that is not to say that somehow Brom could be Eragon's father. For now I will just say that Brom was more like a guardian and perhaps to Eragon he was like a father as he got to know him more.

Oh!!! Very nice thinking. Just depends really on how you view things...whether you think Brom is his father or not. But, I really like this father protecting son and so on. Would make perfect sense...just depends on what you think...like it!

no he would have finished a year or so of training w/ brom then have gone to elesmera to be trained by oromis and the elves pg 408-9 of Eragon.

It said in the book that Brom would teach him the survival training and then he would go to the elves to complete his training
