I think the grey folk are descendants of elves, humans, dwarves, and urgles.

How can they be the descendants if they existed before humans were even in Alagaesia, before the Dragons were friends with any of the other races, before the dwarves even started to trust the elves and before elves became immortal and superstrong. I suppose if you said ancestors it would make a bit more sense but... still unlikely.

yeah ancestors would make more sense because the knurlan and the dragons were the only ones in alageasa and they hated each other

It could be possible that the Grey Folk come from other parts of Alagaesia, the parts that no one is familiar with. If they were as strong as the legends say, then they wouldn't have a problem crossing over that much land to the parts we are familiar with.

However they could only do that after that existed for them to descendents of all the other races then all the other races must have 'joined' before the grey folk existed.

They actually say that they have never joined together with each other. Urgals hate everyone, and elves and dwarfs kept mainly to themselves. It is possible for them all to coexist and function without each other. They also say that the Grey folk existed before all the other races. They could have lived anywhere in Alagaesia, there doesn't need to be people there before them.

No I wasn't ancestors means the opposite to descendants. I was disagreeing with the title and suggesting that instead of the grey-folk being the offspring of all the races that in fact all the races except perhaps the dragons where descendents of the Grey Folk.

They can't be descendants of the Grey Folk because there were races that are here now in Alagaesia while the Grey Folk were.

They could be, just because the grey-folk are ancestors of other species it doesn't mean that the grey fold died off. However I mentioned this was unlikely when I posted the ancestors thing in the first place. If you'd understood my post in the first place you could have avoided this entirely pointless discussion.

They actually also say that the Grey Folk did die off and you don't have to be so rude. I was saying my own thought on the idea when I first posted it had nothing to do with what you said.

What i ment was that all of the races in aleagaesia evolved from the grey folk. Because elves, humans, and dwarves, all live differently in different climates, their dna probably mutated differently, whiched caused the different races.

Just because they were still alive at the same time doesn't mean they didn't evolve from them. different stages of human beings were alive at the same time.

i agree they could hide themselves from one person and eragon could be in the wrong spot of the spine

have you even read the back of the books? the are better at magic than even the elves and eragon's invisablity spell also keeps other people from sensing it the grey folk could easily do that

The book also says how the race disappears over centuries and how the enchantment that they used to change the nature magic robed them of their power and that they faded away.
