 No name yetThis was something I randomly started writing in the back of my maths book, I was supposed to be doing maths, but this just sprung into my mind. It was really sweet cause it just flowed onto the page, but now I don't know what to do with it...
Here it goes: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm standing on top of the world. You're probably thinking "Oh, something really good happened to her!" or think its something figurative like that. No sir/ma'am, I'm literally standing on top of the world. I'm on top of Mount Everst, staring out at the far reaches of the horizon that is so big I can see a slight curvature. Its almost as beautiful as standing on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on a clear blue day. I don't have an oxygen tank, but I'm not out of breath. In fact, it didn't take any effort at all for me to get here. Don't ask me how it works, I don't know the science behind it, but man, do I love it. I'm not your average person. I've have my ups and downs just like everyone, I've fallen in love, been rejected, deserted and betrayed, ignored, and had hobbies, just like most people. But I've never had a family. There were people that called me daughter or sister, and wanted me to call them mom and dad and brother, but they were not that to me. I was only ever mentioned if there was a need for someone to blame. It was always "my fault". At those times I did all I could do. I Jumped. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So its sorta a fanfic for Jumper (if you've ever seen that movie) The character is a chick, but she doesn't have a name yet, nor have I decided what age she'll be. I'm thinking of leaving her nameless and ageless. So you can make her how ever you want her to be. There probably won't ever be a physical description of her either. Totally honest that isn't how I wrote it in my notebook, but I got new ideas as I was typing it up on here. Maybe now I'll think of something to add to it. What did you guys think? I am still kinda working on this (I have three stories going right now, plus three more that have been shoved to the side *head/desk*) and I don't really know where its going. And I have no idea what the title will be yet. Is it the beginning of a novel? or a short story? or is it the short story? The main problem I have with these snippets that people post, is that you cannot assess a person's ability to write, or even the viability of the story upon a snippet. My main advice to you is to sit down and think: 1. What is the story? 2. Where is it going? 3. And finally: what am I going to do with it? Once you have that decided, write out a chapter and post it here. By a chapter I mean 3-6 A4 pages. Re: No name yet As I've been pretty busy with my personal life, I'm not even going to bother giving you an apology for being tardy, cause I'm getting really sick of how snippy you make all your posts towards me sound.
I'm not asking you to scrutinize whether its a book, short story or whatever the hell you want to call it, I'm not trying to be a professional writer, I'm writing for my enjoyment and seeing if other people like it too. I take alot out of encouragment, but as soon as I get a post like yours I hate to do anything with what I have, so honestly Wrath, if you don't have a good oppinion of something, just shut up and don't say anything, ok? He wasn't being negative, he was just going over points; he does it with everyone and I'm sure he'll understand now and give you space. He's a nice guy, and he only does that to help people become better writers if they want. But he'll understand. And I thought, and still think, this is awesome and you should go on, but you know that Toy Story 2 line? "You can't rush art". Well, you can't. The only way you can get it working for yourself (don't worry about us) is to lay back, relax, and who knows? Maybe you'll get some more inspiration in the future.
