 Cursed to be AloneOOC:In this thread I'm trying to find Bahamut a mate. So if anyone has a female dragon, feel free to join.
What am I? A dragon?...a beast?...a murderer?... What purpose do I have in this world? To hate...to fight...to kill... Was I nothing more to be designed for destruction? Why am I here? Why...? I have pondered these questions for as long as I can remember. For my life has been nothing but meaningless. I have killed, I have been imprisoned, and now I wander. Wandering aimlessly...letting time pass so slowly. As of now, I have no purpose. I only exist to rot away in time. Bahamut slashed a dragons throat, covering him in blood. This is all I know. To cause pain, agony, and despair. A volly of arrows pierced his wings, he roared in anger. Bahamut breathed fire at a group of soldiers. Turning them to dust. Why... am I here? Bahamut hovered above the ground, blood-stained. He flew away from the ruined area from where he was ambused. He could barely keep flying. Eventually Bahamut just crashed into the ground. Blood kept flowing, from his body and he was breathing heavily. Does my life end here? Some one....help me. Bahamut closed his eyes. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone OOC: Hmm, what do you think of Syllwin being Bahamut's mate? I suppose, in a way, she could kind of understand what he's going through...maybe...what do you think?
IC: Syllwin was flying over the Varden just to relax. Lately, her life had been so adventerous and dangerous, that she was just getting tired of it. She figured she could have a little alone time, in order to quiet her mind. The winds were cool to her liking, and at the same time, she enjoyed the sun warming her back. Co-existing was what she thought. The cold and the heat coming together to cancel each other out; to make her feel comfortable. Syl nearly fell asleep flying at that point. Without warning, Syl smelled blood; it impacted her like flying straight into a cliffside. She practically stopped in midflight, as she pin-pointed the smell of the blood. She found the source; it was from the dragon Bahamut. Syl had only run into him on occassion, and found that he was rather hard to talk to. She wanted to continue flying, but her concious told her that he could have been injured and she wasn't willing to leave someone to die. Bahamut barely opened his eyes when he began coughing, and eventually throwing up of blood. His body heaved as he finished. Blinking slowly, he could see something in the distance. It was too blurry, he couldnt tell what is was. His senses had failed him. Bahamut closed his eyes again. OOC:Short... _________________ -------------------------------------

IC: Bahamut! Syllwin cried out, landing next to him. She could tell that he was gravely injured and that he lost a large amount of blood. I hope you haven’t been knocked unconscious, she mumbled to herself. What in the world am I going to do with you? She wasn’t sure what she could have done. Syl didn’t possess any magical powers to heal, or at least she didn’t know about. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut opened his eyes again. Something was near him...next to him. Have they found him? Did the come to finish him off? Based on this thought, Bahamut recoiled and shot up despite his grave injuries. Almost lashing out at the unknown visitor, he stops half way. It was Syllwin.
Syllwin? He said weakly. I'm sorry....I couldnt tell it was you. Forgive me.. Why are you here? He fell to a knee breathing heavily. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin tilt her head to one side. Well, I was just flying over when I saw you just lying on the ground. What the heck’s been going on over here? She helped Bahamut to his feet and could tell that he was in need of medical treatment. It’s not Galbatorix, is it?
Syl could sense an evil emitting from the air, though she wasn’t certain what it was. She just knew that she had to get Bahamut away from this place. Let’s try to go south of here, towards the Hadarac desert. I know of a place. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut remained silent at her first question, but answered the second. I can manage to fly but we will have to stop often. Also I need you to do something. Unfortunately I have a grave and almost fatal wound on my stomach. Since we dont have healing powers, I need you to burn it shut.
I would myself, but my senses fail me and I might end up killing myself... Bahamut trailed off and remained silent, he was completely exhausted. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin noted that he seemed reluctant to answer her first question, but there wouldn't be any time to get it out of him. He needed attention asap. But when he told her to burn his wound shut, she cursed her ice breath for the first time in her life. Syl had never been able to produce a flame except for only one time...but she had always figured it was a fluke.
Bahamut I...I can't, she admitted, feeling shame run through her entire body. I'm an ice dragon; I can't breathe fire. Syl looked around for anything that was still lit on fire and found quite a large stick that was in flames. Hold on, I think I have a solution. She rushed over to the stick, picked it up in her jaws and ran back over to his side. This might hurt a bit, she warned him as she pressed the stick towards the wound. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut roared in pain, he had to grip the ground so he wouldnt hurt Syllwin out of reflex. His eyes were looking right into hers. His was filled with pain and hatred. Not towards her, but himself. He cursed himself for getting into a position like this. He groaned and growled as the wound slowly sealed up. Once it finally closed he released his grip from the ground and laid on his side.
For the longest time there was silence. The Bahamut said, This is....hard.. for me to do.. since I have never done it before. ...Thank you. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin flinched at Bahamut's pain. She didn't enjoy watching anyone going through such suffering. She continued to close up his wound with the fire until it was no longer required. Syl allowed the stick to drop as she took a step back to allow him some room.
Syl only turned her head to the side. It was no trouble. Just...don't get yourself into a situation like that again, and we won't have this problem. She sounded like herself, but she wasn't feeling like herself. Anyway, we should get away from this place. If you can still fly, let's get going. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut staggered to his feet. Without saying a word, he unfolded his wings and with a giant heave he took off into the air. He wasnt as fast as he normally would be, but it was still good enough.
I can maybe fly an hour at most, so lets make haste. They started to head south, to Hadarac Desert. Just as he predicted, Bahamut could not hold it any longer, he unevenly descended to the ground and made an akward landing. After he just slumped over. Re: Cursed to be Alone Well, don't apologize because you're exhausted! Syllwin pretended to scold. It's fine, I need a rest anyway. I've been flying for days and nights on end!
Syllwin looked around for water, but could find none. Instead, she dug a good hole in the ground and used her ice breath to fill the hole with ice. The heat from the sands melted the ice rather quickly, and it made a nice drinking hole. Get some water in you, Syllwin advised. Re: Cursed to be Alone As soon as she said it, Bahamut realized he hadnt had anything to drink for some time. He quickly got up and went to the watering hole. More focused on his survival instincts, he did pay attention to Syllwin. Instead of moving around her, he leaned over her and extended his neck to drink. Luckily he was big enough so that he wouldnt knock her down.
While drinking, he was thinking about his encounter from earlier. If Syllwin hadnt showed up, he probably wouldve died. He shook his head slightly and realized he spaced out. More importantly he realized he was slumping against Syllwin. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin chuckled nervously and took a couple of steps back. Then she cleared her throat. Are you feeling better now? Hopefully you are, because we're still not there yet. Once you've had your fill, we can take off.
She wasn't normally a touchy dragon but Syl began to feel an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach, and she couldn't shake the feeling away. Syl only hoped that it would be something she could ignore. Re: Cursed to be Alone It was queit all the way to Hadarac Desert. Oddly this bothered Bahamut. Normally he was all about silence, but now he felt different. He couldnt really explain it.
When they reached the edge of the wastelands, Bahamut landed immediately. He was observing the area, something didnt feel right. Suddenly, something exploded out of the sands. Two black dragons lunged at Bahamut. He roared as they attacked them. Despite his weakend state, he fought them with all he could, slashing away with his claws and using his great strength. However, at this rate he couldnt hold them off. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin was taken off-guard by the sudden attack caused by two black dragons who popped up out of the sand. She growled menecingly and took a swipe at one of them, attmpting to keep them at bay. It was going to be hard; these dragons were swift and they seemed to be targeting Bahamut because he was a little weaker.
Bahamut, we should probably take flight rather than fight these dragons, she grunted as she made an effort to heave a dragon off of her. Re: Cursed to be Alone Im fine! Just kill them! Bahamut was grappling with one of the black dragons. He was considerably smaller but he posed a good fight. Out of instinct, Bahamut reached out and took a big chomp at the dragons neck. Blood flowed into his mouth as the dragon roared in agony.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Ugh, Syllwin groaned, if you're going to be stubborn about it, fine! Syl had managed to pin down the dragon she was fightning with and used her claws to dig into its chest. It gurgled as blood filled its throat and writhered in pain. Syl hurried to snap its neck so that it didn't have to suffer and it lay on the ground, motionless.

Re: Cursed to be Alone See, I knew this would happen. But did you even bother to listen to me? No, no, you had to go galavanting off to fight some dragons when it would have been wiser to escape! Syllwin growled, exasperated. She was still grumbling as she wandered around, looking for a stick or something else flamable. Syl didn't even know why she was still hanging out with him. It was obvious that he wouldn't listen to a thing she said whether it was to help him or not. She didn't even know if he really liked her or not. He was way older than her anyway, why would he be around a younger dragoness like herself?
Syl managed to find some thick brush and was able to drag it towards Bahamut. Here's something to burn, she mumbled, barely audible. I'm just going to...wander for a second. Do you want to know those dragons attacked us? It's because of me....of what I am. All those that hunt me, are descendants of elves and dragons that I murdered after the great war. The survivors made a pact to hunt me down and kill me if I ever escaped my prison. They will never stop until I am dead. Although I guess it cant be help for what I have done. The world rejected me, so in turn I rejected them by killing all in my path. On my horns, fangs, and claws is the blood of thousands that cannot be washed away. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin wasn't sure what to say at that point. She hadn't known him that well, and when she knew part of the truth, pity began to grow within her heart. She figured he didn't want her pity so Syl set her face to neutral, though she was sure that her eye was changing to the color of sadness.
So that's why you're so grumpy all the time, Syl commented. What are you, exactly? Did you have to kill those dragons or... She paused. I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me anything. You know, she added, walking back over to Bahamut, I think I have a situation like yours. There's this guy who wants me dead. See, I was captured at a very young age and 'Galbatorix' thought I contained special powers for my eye changes color with my mood...Anyway, for over a year, he worked me until I was to be tested to see if I was loyal enough for him. I didn't know what kind of a man he was, she added in a growl. Basically, I nearly killed a dragon and was thrown into the dungeon, beaten for another year, until I escaped. Of course, that caused a riot and now they have a bounty over my head. Now I've found out that some crazed general is actually the one who's done all of the dirty deeds. In my life, I don't know what's real or fiction and my trust for the world has pretty much run out. Syl was shocked she relyaed so much of her past to Bahamut. She never shared that with anyone, and if anyone overheard, she'd make something up to keep everyone away. She felt a few tears begin to weld in the corner of her eye. She only turned her head away to hide them from Bahamut. Re: Cursed to be Alone Im fine for now. We can head to my cave. It was my prison...but I have been there so long I didnt feel like moving. Follow me. Bahamut staggered to his feet and stretched out his wings.
Moments later they were both flying over the sea of sand known as the Hadarac. His wound was bothering him, he didnt know how much longer he could keep it closed. They would probably need to stay at his home for at least a few weeks for it to heal naturally. He just hoped they wouldnt be attacked during that time. About an hour later they reached a giant plateau with a large hole in the top. Bahamut flew down into it and beckoned Syllwin to follow. He landed in the large dome. Glancing around, Bahamut looked at the claw and burn marks on the walls. It was curious that those phase through the seal when it was still there. This was my prison...for 50,000 years. 50 millenia alone, and to add to my torture. The seal casted a spell on my so I could never eat or sleep....but could not die from it. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin sighed but she didn’t exactly have a choice. If she allowed him to go on, Bahamut would probably find some more trouble so she flew after him in silence. There was no need for words. The sun was beginning to disappear below the horizon and the sky was turning to an ash color with just the slightest hint of pink. The silence between them was growing more awkward but Syl refused to speak first. Besides, Syl knew that if she said anything aloud, it would either come out as sarcastic or rude.
Over the hour, the dragons descended upon a large plateau that had a cave within. Syl followed inside, and was astounded to see the strange burn and claw marks etched into the sides. It gave her a strange foreboding, and she didn’t know what to make of it. That’s a terrible seal, she whispered, her bravado dissipating. Have you been able to find a way to break it yet? Syl found herself worried for Bahamut and she didn’t understand where these feelings were coming from. Re: Cursed to be Alone I thought it would seem obvious that I had broke it. Otherwise I would have never left here. I am free of my curse but it has left it's mark on me. He looked at her curiously, but then continued. These claw and burn marks were made by me. The hole in the ceiling was made by me after the seal broke. Before that, this cave was a complete dome. Also it was a pooling area for lava to come up from the earth. So most of the time it was very hot. As you can see, the lava has hardened into this rough flooring. Oddly enough, this place is now my home. I never really bothered looking for a new place to stay.
After his story, Bahamut moved to a corner of the cave with a raised flat rock area. He climbed ontop of it and laid down on his side to rest. Bahamut had always liked to be alone, as far as she knew, and for him to say that to her made her heart flutter nervously. Instead, she kept a cool face, and remarked, I guess I'd better stick around in case you get into any more trouble. She walked closer to the raised rock and lay next to him. Then, she moved over a couple of feet away when she realized how close she was to him. Um, sorry... Syl trailed off and made herself an ice bed with her breath. I'm used to sleeping on ice, she explained.
This was too weird. Syl had this feeling that she should have left but instead she chose to ignore it. It was probably her distrust acting up again and not allowing anyone too close to her. In fact, she knew that her eye was flashing to a green color for her feeling at that particular moment was confused...confused about everything. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut made somewhat of a suprised expression when she laid next to him. Then she seemed embarassed and moved away. He sighed and placed his head down, facing away from her.
He eventually dozed off and fell into a dream...or a nightmare. Bahamut was lost in his memories fighting. See faces of the dead haunting him. All who he had killed flashed in his mind. In his world, Bahamut had one basic instinct in his life. Kill or be killed. Barbaric it may be, but it seemed fate had forced him to go this path. He wasnt born normal. Then again, who is? Bahamut made painful expressions has he dreamnt. It wasnt his own pain, but the pain he was causing to others. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin figured that she had made things even more awkward between them and so she only could watch as he turned away from her and fallen asleep. Syl figured that she, too, ought to get a decent night's sleep. She curled up into a tight ball and attempted to sleep.
No matter how hard she tried, Syl could not fall into slumber. It had to be this cave that she was in. It practically screamed with so many memories. She felt bad for Bahamut, but didn't know what to say or do that would make it any better. Near her, Syl felt Bahamut stir uncomforably and his face began to make painful expressions. At first, she thought it was his wound but then she could see him mumbling some words. She wasn't sure what to do, but decided to lay closer to him, so close that in fact, they were touching. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut was still dreaming, in his mind he was being surrounded by old enemies. They were getting ready to ambush him when suddenly they vanished and all was back. Bahamut stirred slightly and felt something warm against his stomach. He opened an eye and Syllwin had laid down next to him. It was a weird experience for him. He really didnt know what to think of it. Either way, he enjoyed the comfort and dozed off to sleep again with steady breathing.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin had fallen into a deep sleep, one without any dreams. It was nice to do that, without having to relive the nightmares she experienced so long ago. There was only serene silence, and Syl was enjoying it for the first time.
Once she woke up, Syl realized she was still lying next to Bahamut. It hadn't bothered her as much as the last time, but she got up anyway, stretching. The sun was peaking up, causing the sky to become painted in blood-red colors. It was nice to feel them on her scales, and Syl hadn't realized that they were shimmering against the rays. She jumped to the shadows in case they shined on Bahamut's eyes. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut hadnt slept so well for a long time. It almost scared him. What woke him is that his body noticed the warmth near his stomach disappeared. His eyes opened and he let out a big yawn. Looking around, he noticed Syllwin wasnt in the cave.
Maybe she left? He sighed and laid his head down. It couldnt be helped he guessed. Bahamut wasnt exactly the type to be company with. He just wondered why she laid next to him. Just the size difference he thought made her uncomfortable. For a moment he thought about getting up, but he didnt want to aggrevate his wound. She figured he was still asleep, but she could feel his subconcious stir and become restless. She sighed and murmured, If you're fit enough, Bahamut, you could join me outside. The fresh air might do you good for your wound.
Syl wasn't that far away from the cave, possibly ten paces or less. She hoped she wasn't stepping out on a limb by asking. With a bit of effort, Bahamut slowly got to his feet and went outside. Seeing where Syllwin was, he went over. Then he did what only he could do as a bi-pedal dragon can do, sat down cross-legged.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut did realize he hadnt eaten, and suddenly he felt like there was a giant pit in his stomach. Please do. Bahamut began to feel strange, he has never been so...polite. It somewhat bothered him, he didnt know what these feelings were and they confused him.
Actually feeling somewhat embarassed, he got up and walked slowly back inside the cave. A sudden pool of exhaustion fell over him, so he laid down in his corner. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin only raised an eyeridge before taking off into the sky, ascending rather quickly. She let out a sigh of relief once the air around her began to cool down. From high above the ground, Syl could see a herd of gazelles drinking from a small pool in an oaisis. She divebombed on the herd, catching three of the larger gazelles and snapping their necks swiftly.
From there, Syl carried one of the deer in her jaws, while carrying the other two in her claws. She wasn't flying as fast as she originally was, but the cave was rapidly approaching. She came to a landing and placed the three gazelles on the ground, dragging one inside. Syl walked over to Bahamut, where he was lying in the corner. He seemed to enjoy her company. He honestly thought to himself that he never really did feel much happier. Not suprising considering his lifestyle. In either case he was glad to have her around.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin smiled sadly when he tried to put on a brave face. She then rolled her eyes. Oh, please, you wouldn't need my help for anything. I'm sure you would have done the same thing if I wasn't around. But here's something that I think may be able to help you more. She leaned close to him, hesitant, before exhaling on the wound. It covered most of the wound in a thin sheet of ice. She leaned back and stated, It's not much, but it'll keep the swelling down and it'll heal faster.
Syl noted his weary expression, and she narrowed her eyes in a scolding kind of way. You should be getting some sleep. But part of her didn't want him to. She liked conversing with him, and that distrust of hers was slowly beginning to fade away. Look, why don't you relax, and I'll... She cocked her head to one side when she noticed that a strange grinding noise began to make its way towards them. She stood up and stared out of the cave, noticing that a huge dust storm was beginning to brew towards them. Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin no! Before he could do anything she was gone. He growled lowly. Bahamut believed in her but she is going to have trouble if there is more than one enemy. If necessary, he would give up his location to rush in to help. For he trusted her and waited.
Unfortunately, if he attempt to track her with his mind, his location would be revealed. He would only rush out if the barrier had faded. Knowing that however, he just hoped it wouldnt be too late by then. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin counted at least four dragons on her tail, and she grumbled slightly. It was unlike her to rush into something unplanned. Besides that, it was rather thrilling. Her heart pounded against her rib cage in tempo with her wing beats as she headed further and further away from Bahamut's cave. The dragons seemed confused, and only hissed as they followed after Syl.
Come on, you know you want me! she taunted, not daring to look back. From there, Syl dove into a canyon she spotted ahead of her and zig-zagged between the rocks. Each dragon had to split up and slow down for they were a little bigger than she was. They weren't going to give up, however. One of them was edging near Syl with every stride of their wings, to the point where he could have reached out with his claw and snagged her... Psych! Syl cried out as she quickly pulled up out of the canyon and the dragon that had nearly grabbed her crashed into the side-face, falling to his death. Syl hadn't realized that she had rammed her head straight into one of the other dragon's claws, causing her to shriek out in alarm. Get your claws off me! she yelled, whipping her tail against his side. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut was becoming anxious. He couldnt tell if Syllwin was ok or not. The barrier she placed was still active but still...
Impatient and fed up, Bahamut could not wait any longer. He had to know she was safe...to make sure she was. Bahamut roared and unfolded his wings. Flying out he shattered his the ice barrier. Tiny icicles filled the sky. They bounced off his scales. Despite his injury, he flew with great speed to where he saw the fighting was going on. Letting out another groundshaking roar, he reached out both arms, grabbing two dragons at once. He chucked them into the sand. Opening his mouth, fire and lighting mixed and building of emmense energy. Bahamut's strongest attack, though reduced.... He unleashed it's fury and a giant blast wave pillar shot down to where the dragons were. It collide with the ground causing a massive explosion. The shockwave was strong enough to knock Bahamut out of the sky. Because of the huge drain of energy and the shockwave....he fell to the grond knocked out. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut! Syllwin shrieked in fury. She could only think, The idiot! Why didn't he stay behind?! She couldn't help but feel amazed by the strength he had behind his force he exherted. Syl had managed to get out of the way in time from his fire attack, but the wave it caused forced her unbalanced, which sent her plummeting to the earth.
Syl had managed to pull up ten feet before falling again next to Bahamut. Her head hit a rock, forcing her to go unconcious. I won't...go out, she grunted. There may still...be enemies...near. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut groaned and opened his eyes. It was blurry at first bit it became clear. He struggled to get up, to his relief, his wound was hardly touched, there was a scratch open. That could heal on it's own. Gazing around, he saw a crater of ash. The ash and sand knocked up into the air caused it to be hazy and cloudy in the area.
Alarmed, he searched around for Syllwin. He found her laying a short distance away from the crater. Walking over to her, he picked her up into his arms. Almost staggering back into the cave, he gently placed her on the ice bed that she made earlier. Wind outside began to pick up violently. A sandstorm was approaching... Bahamut growled lowly and went outside again. He began to gather up boulders to fill up the ceiling of the cave. It took about an hour to do but he finished before the storm got too strong. He took one final boulder that blocked the front entrance. Finally he staggered to the center and started a fire. The cave was so big that it was rather dim to the edges but it had to do. If it was any bigger, smoke would probably build up. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin blinked, finding herself lying on a sheet of ice and finding it oddly warm at the same time. At first, she thought she was back at her home, safe and sound and it was all a strange dream. But as she looked up, Syl found a cave ceiling above her. Oddly enough, she couldn't piece together what was going on, exactly. Syl lifted herself up to give her questioning mind a bit of a rest. She was inside Bahamut's cave, with Bahamut building up a fire. Instead of feeling disappointed, she felt relief. She was relieved that Bahamut was still alive and that he hadn't gotten hurt.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Hey.. Bahamut was reluctant to tell her what happened. Feeling like he was going to get scolded at for what he did. Still, he couldnt leave her in the dark. I came along and killed the dragons. The shockwave of the blast knocked us both out. I woke up before you did so I brought you here. Right now there is a heavy sandstorm going on. Even dragons can be endangered out here. It was another procaution believe it or not. The elves sang a song to the sands....and they danced. They still do...
He made his way to his corner and laid down. Well, its a good thing we ate before this happened. A sand storm can last up to a few days. _________________ -------------------------------------

She was going to tell him that he should have stayed behind and healed, but for some reason she couldn't. Instead, Syl bowed her head. Thank you for coming out and helping me, she said softly. And I'm sorry for putting you in danger like that. It was stupid, reckless, and selfish of me to rush out like that.
Syl looked up again at Bahamut, with calm and gentle eyes. She could feel her eye change color, but this time, she wasn't sure what color. She looked into the reflecting water and could see that her eye was flashing many colors. In her heart, she felt the ice that build up over the years slowly melt away when she saw him smile for the first time. Syl paused for a minute before leaning her head against his shoulder, sighing in content. Then she, too, smilied.
Bahamut... Syllwin stopped, not exactly sure on what to say. I...if it's alright with you, I'd like to stay with you for a while...until the sandstorm is over at least...or maybe...a little longer than that. That was when she realized what the flashing of colors meant. She connected it to the feelings she was feeling at that particular moment. Syl felt, if it was at all possible, love. I've always kept people away from me, out of my life and not being too close. She gave him a comforting nudge. You're not a what, you know, she pretended to scold. Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin was touched that he said that, but she hesitated. She wasn't usually open, and confiding in anyone was new to her. But Bahamut wasn't exactly the open type either. If anyone could understand what she went through, it would be him. Well, for starters, I wasn't always sarcastic and rude, she began with a laugh. I actually used to be carefree and delightful to be around. That is, until I was captured...
She tensed as she relived the past experiences. I was brought to Galbatorix's dungeon where he trained me for a long time. He believed that since my eye color changed with my mood, he thought I had unique powers. Of course, I hadn't know about my illusion powers at the time being. Anyway, he brought in a prisioner one day. In order to exchange my freedom, I had to kill a dragon. She looked at thte floor in dismay. I couldn't do it, of course, so instead, he brought out a young boy who was also a prisoner. I froze him, which had nearly killed him, and I hadn't known that he was the dragon's rider. I was horrified. That was when we were all thrown into the dungeon once again. I wasn't sure what to do then, for a full year I was tortured and beaten in order to break me. I pretended to be broken so that I could escape using my illusion power that was bestowed upon me. I helped the dragon and his rider as well to escape and from that moment on, my trust for anyone hasn't exactly been the greatest. Syl took a deep breath as sadness lingured in her expression. I haven't really been able to tell anyone my whole reasoning for hiding behind a facade. Bahamut felt a little embarassed for saying that. They both laid there next to eachother, with his wing around her. There was silence for some time. Suddenly Bahamut became uncomfortable... several...lewd...thoughts were going around in his head. He tried to think of something else to talk about but nothing else came to mind.

I'm glad you know too. And you know, I would also like to take the time to get to know the real you. She smiled up at him. You seem kind of distracted. Is anything the matter? Her eyes narrowed in worry. You're not in pain from the battle, are you? Don't try to hide it if you are.
Syl sighed. Have you ever wondered...what's going to happen in the future? All of these dragons that are coming around, both good and evil. Many battles have been fought, some lost and some won. IC: Whoa, mates? Syllwin was surprised and shocked, though not disgusted or anything that extreme. Wow I uh, never would have thought of us as mates... She laughed a little. To be honest, I'm not sure what to at this point either. She only sighed softly and closed her eyes. We could stay like this for the time being... Syl began to slowly drift into a doze, though she would have been able to hear Bahamut if he had anything to say at that point. After the sandstorm, we should probably figure out...where those dragons are...so you...don't have to...worry anymore. Her voice was becoming more disoriented as she nestled in closer towards Bahamut, feeling protected and secure from the world, ironically enough. Everyone seemed to keep their distance, though Syl had never had a problem like that before. She was content and happy and that was all that mattered. Although he never knew the experience or the feelings before so he just acted on impulse. Feeling tired himself, he gently placed his neck over hers and closed his eyes.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin woke up after a long and peaceful sleep, to find Bahamut with his neck stretched out over her. She smiled, at how calm he seemed. Syl sat up, slowly and gently, so that he wouldn't wake up. She stretched her wings and looked around. From the sounds of it, the sandstorm had ceased and sun rays streamed down through the cracks. In that moment, Syl was feeling closed in, as she often did. That was her only problem, her only fear, from being enclosed as a prisoner by Galbatorix.

Seeing that Syllwin was not with him, he yawned and got up. He saw that she was sitting at the other end of the cave. She seemed to be thinking about something.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin moved over towards the pile of rocks and began to remove some of them and shrugged. It’s nothing, she mumbled, ashamed that she had nearly hyperventilated in the room. It’s just…ugh, it’s nothing to be bothered with. I just get claustrophobic easily. She looked away to avoid his gaze. Yeah, I know, it’s stupid, and I shouldn’t be afraid. But for a moment there, I felt like I was back in the dungeon, even though it felt nothing like it, and I began to feel enclosed. She was shaking at this point, though she tried to steady herself.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin relaxed under Bahamut’s touch, and returned his embrace with her neck. What he said comforted her greatly, and the thought of spreading her wings out and flying sent great joy surging through her body. Thanks, she mumbled, embarrassed, and continued to dig much more quickly than what she had done before.
After a while of digging, the rocks toppled over and a gush of fresh air and a bit of sand rushed in to greet her. The sensation of flying was too great. She couldn’t take it. Syl rushed off into the air with blinding speed, laughing the entire time with happiness. Are you going to join me, love? She teased Bahamut, for he was still standing there. They flied around so freely, without worrying about being bothered. The feeling was so nice...Bahamut never thought he would experience happiness like this.

She had worried about him for quite some time, and now that he seemed to bring out this side, Syl figured that they could truly be happy together. With a sly smile on her face, Syl ducked quickly under Bahamut so that he couldn’t see her. Then, she quickly rose so that she prodded him with her tail and quickly ducked out of the way so that he couldn’t get her. She was having too much fun, so much, that she hadn’t noticed the ominous black cloud gathering far, far, far in the distance.

Syllwin had the suspicion that whatever the cloud was, it had to do with those ‘vengeance hunters’ that were after Bahamut. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut kept moving with Syllwin. Suddenly the black cloud launched a beam of energy at them. More specifically at Syllwin. Out of fear, Bahamut reacted the only way he could think of quickly enough in time. He grabbed her and embraced her and wrapped his wings completely around for protection. The beam struck Bahamut in the back. He roared as it seared into his back. Both of them free-falled to the ground. During that time Bahamut still held his protective grip around Syllwin.
He managed to turn himself over and landed backward so that Syllwin remained unharmed. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin mind went blank in shock. She closed her eyes the entire time until the earth reached up to greet them. She heard a rumble and then everything went silent. It seemed as though time itself had stopped. Syl hurried to get off of Bahamut so that he could breathe…if he still was. She backed away a couple of steps, staring at his unconscious body. He had taken so much damage and…her mind wouldn’t allow anything to process what had just happened.
B…Bahamut? She whispered. Syl didn’t want to look at his wound, but she didn’t want it to get infected. She walked over to him and flipped him so that he was lying on his side. The beam had sheared through his flesh to the point where it had nearly reached bone. You…you idiot, she cried, tears streaming down her cheek. Why’d you have to save me? She was delirious at that point. No…Bahamut, don’t leave me here in this hateful world…please…don’t… Syl hung her head, until she began to hear another charge of energy, aimed straight for them. She turned to look up at the cloud that was almost directly overhead and she glared. You won’t get away, she vowed, backing up as she almost prepared for takeoff. I swear to you, you won’t be breathing in the next five minutes! Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin shot up into the cloud, preparing for the worst. She pulled her lips back in a menacing snarl as she readied an ice shard attack. It wasn’t even really a cloud, more like smog in any case. Inside it, was a huge, huge, black dragon with an elf riding his back.
You’re dead, elf! Syl shrieked, lunging at him with all her might. The elf merely waved a hand and his magical force cast her aside. “Do you really think you can destroy us, Hobsyllwin?” the elf smirked, his eyes glowing with white light. “We’re not even here to fight, but take our prize.” The cloud reached for Bahamut and pulled him up in with the same force. The dragon only seemed to be interested in Syl. He grabbed her with one paw, nearly crushing the life out of her. “This would have been a lot simpler if you would have just died when we aimed for you,” the elf sighed, massaging his forehead. “No matter, we’ll just have to take you along, I suppose.” Syllwin grunted with effort as she attempted to escape. The dragon holding her in his grip squeezed tighter, until she could no longer breathe. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut felt that he was being pulled up somehow. What was going on..? He could barely stay awake. Suddenly he heard talking between Syllwin and a rider. His words were taunting...it made Bahamut angry. However what made him snap is when Syllwin was forcibly knocked out by the dragon.
In fury anchient magic swelled within him. His wounds began to steam and sizzle as they rapidly healed. Flipping upright, he roared at the dragon and his rider who seemed suprised to what was happening. Bahamut flew at them full force. The elf looked like he was going to cast a spell, but Bahamut interrupted him by embedding his claws in the black dragon and it shrieked in agony. The rider shared his pain and wasnt able to concentrate. Finally from point blank range, Bahamut opened his mouth and released a giant fireball which consumed both of them. The black dragon dropped Syllwin and she began to freefall. Bahamut swooped down and caught her in his arms. He began to fly away with considerable speed without looking back. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin was barely aware what was going on. She remembered falling, but being caught again. Had the black dragon taken her away once more? Syl forced her eyes open to see that Bahamut was clutching her in his arms, protectively, as he flew fast. Her heart flew along with him, her soul rejoycing for Bahamut was alive and well. He was alive!

He checked to behind him to make sure they were not being followed. It was clear for now. Still to be safe, Bahamut flied to a more concealed area. They had already left the Hadarac. He landed into a small forested area. Bahamut hoped that this would be enough to hide themselves. Gently placing her down, Bahamut stared at Syllwin. This hurt him so much what he was about to say...but it had to be done for her protection. Syllwin..I dont think we can be together...I dont want you to be in harms way and always on the run just for my sake. I dont want you hurt! I'm sorry but we...we must part. That's stupid! she snorted. Why should it matter that I'm in danger when we're together? We're strong, and...do you think it will make a difference whether we're apart? Her voice dropped so that she spoke softly. Whether we're together or apart, I'm still going to wind up getting hurt...physically or...emotionallly. I don' think I'd be able to take it. She didn't push the matter any further. It seemed so difficult for him to come out and tell her. Instead, Syl placed a paw on his shoulder so that he could look into her eyes. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut felt terrible at that point, but he knew it had to be done. After she left, Bahamut slowly got to his feet and took off from the area. Wandering to himself alone...
Nearly a month later, the hunt for Bahamut was relentless. He could hardly sleep. Many nights he had to keep watch to make sure he wasnt ambushed in his sleep. He had killed many, but at this point he figured it as self defence. Although he felt alive everyday and his instincts thrived in battle...he carried the burden of having a hole in his chest. Emotionally of course. Every night he longed for Syllwin to be near him, but he wanted her to be safe. This was the best way he could do it. For once, Bahamut managed to hide himself in some mountains and actually get some sleep. The next morning he surveyed the area, checking to see if there were hunters near by. Luckily, they seemed to be scarce in this area. He decided to find something to eat while he had this free time. Not too long after he caught several deer for himself and he gorged them down greedily. He sighed, the one chance he could have happiness, fate tore it away from him. Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin had left, and had been away from Bahamut for what seemed like an eternity though it was only for a mere month. She went for days without sleeping and eating, and her nightmares returned as soon as she left Bahamut. Everything seemed dark and cold without him, and her heart echoed the same feeling within. There was too much violence, too many nightmares...
Syl went off around Alagaseia to keep her mind off of Bahamut, but it rendered useless. She always thought of him, always loved him more than she could take. At nights she cried herself to sleep, during the day she felt like a hollow empty shell of a dragon who merely hunted to survive. She slaughtered humans that were in the armies of Galbatorix and felt numb as she did so. Her scales were dirty, she never cleaned them. They stopped shining, and only glowed red with the blood that got on her. While Syl was finding a ledge to get some rest, she noticed something off in the distance. Another ominous cloud. She was slowly drifting into her old self, possibly for the worst, and thought angrily, I'm so sick of fighting! Why must I rush to meet this enemy? Why? Heck, let him come to me, I don't care anymore! Bahamut! she cried out into the air. Living with you is what kept me alive! Now you've gone! Without you, it's like I'm dying. I cannot suffer anymore! Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut had a strange feeling...something was drawing him in a certain direction. Curious, Bahamut followed his gut and the direction he was being drawn to. A few hours later he could see a strange cloud. It was like the one from before. Anger swelled within him...he coldnt hold himself back he charged right at it. Another dragon and rider were waiting inside. He took no chance this time. He latched himself onto the dragon forcefully and slashed several vital spots. Seconds later he grabbed the rider and crushed him with his claws....breaking his ribs and puncturing his lungs.
Once he was limp, he threw the rider down to the earth...crashing next to his dragon. Bahamut roared in triumph. He hovered over the area as the black cloud disappeared. He skimmed the area again he could see another dragon in the distance. At first he didnt recognize who it was. Then he became wide eyed realizing it was Syllwin. He couldnt take it any longer. Bahamut no longer wanted to be seperate from her. He flew straight towards her, it almost looked like he didnt recognize her and he was going to attack. However he did the exact opposite. Right before reaching her he yelled Syllwin! He somewhat crashed into her and wrapped his arms around her. He twisted backwards so that he landed on his back. It did hurt but he didnt care. Bahamut felt so glad to have her so close to him once more. I missed you so.... I was wrong to seperate from you. Forgive me... _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Sylllwin wasn't exactly sure what happened. One minute, there was a cloud, and then suddenly in a flash of light it was gone. From the light shot the one she never thought she would see again, her only love, her dark angel...Bahamut. Then the next minute, he had reached her and wrapped his arms around her in an embrace. They fell to the ground and it surprised her how much he had changed in that second.
B...Baha... she could barely say his name without feeling pain stab through her heart. I can't believe it... Syl pushed herself off of him and shook her head. I guess you saw the cloud too. I can't just...you don't expect me to forgive you right off the bat, after leaving me for a full month. She bowed her head. You don't realize the pain and suffering I went through. I haven't even cared so much as to clean my scales. She added mentally that she would have to do that soon. I know you must have suffered greatly too but...it's just too soon. It was hard for me to trust anyone, and I lost that after you left. Its going to be even more difficult for me to trust you. He loosened his grip on her and spat out the stuff he had cleaned off. There...now I can almost see your face. He smiled as he laid next to her. She still seemed upset but he was patiently waiting next to her to see what she would do. _________________ -------------------------------------

She paused for a couple of seconds before she could barely take the suspense and rushed into his arms, placed her head on Bahamut’s shoulder. Then she thwacked him upside the head with her tail. Don’t ever do that again! she scolded. I was worried about you, 24/7! I could barely sleep without you next to me! She rumbled, laughing. I’m just glad to see you again.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut felt a little irritated for getting smacked. However he knew he deserved it. He just enjoyed the moment with her. Now he was happier than ever to be back together. Standing there for some time, he suddenly picked her up and took off into the air.
Flying to a nearby lake, he smiled and dumped her from the air and she landed in the water with a loud splash. Bahamut couldnt help but laugh. _________________ -------------------------------------

Re: Cursed to be Alone Syllwin was startled as Bahamut picked her up and flew her away. Where are you taking me? she demanded, squirming. When she saw the lake below her, she narrowed her eyes playfully. Don't even think about it, but he had already dropped her into the water. Syl landed with a loud splash, enjoying the feeling of getting clean and the coolness of the water. She did flips and somersalts underwater, laughing the whole time. Then, an idea struck her. Syl readied herself and bolted out of the water, hoping to surprise Bahamut, and laughed again. You'll pay for that, love, she said playfully, before splashing water at him that she had cupped with her wings.

Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut laughed and then ducked out of the way as Syllwin splashed water at him. Of course I have. Bahamut flew up high and then took a big dive into the water. The water was rather cold...of course Syllwin didnt seem to notice due to her ice affiliation.

She found a large, silver fish and caught it swiftly in her jaw before surfacing. Delicious, she commented. Want a bite? she offered him half of the fish.
After this, I think I'm going to pearch up on a cliff-side. Care to join me? Syl asked, flying up out of the water. Re: Cursed to be Alone Bahamut followed Syllwin and got out of the water. He landed next to her on a cliff and he shook off the water. He laid on his stomach and let the setting sun to dry him off.
