I'm more than excited! It's been rumoured that DAVID TENNANT!!!! is going to play Thranduil. I'll fight my way through every monster created, including my mum, to get to that movie if it's true.

Re: The Hobbit Part 1 and Part 2
Ok I'm lost. Been ages since i watched the cartoon and sadly I havn't read the book. But I'm making it my mission to read it VERY soon. I'm not sure why Frodo is in it but i do know that it takes place before he is born. I dont think Bilbo is reading the book to Frodo because if you remember In LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring, Bilbo gave Frodo the book while he was on his quest to destroy the ring. So there was never a chance for Bilbo to read it too him, And they cant do it after they leave on the ships because Frodo gave the book to Sam.

David Tennant as Bilbo.....naw, he has to be tall! David Tennant doesn't work when he's short.
@Free4ever: Well, Frodo did say in the book that Bilbo'd shown him a bit, and he'd caught glimpses now and again....

Sorry, I made a mistake. It looks like Frodo is going to be reading the tale to someone. Maybe Sam's kids; don't really know.

Re: The Hobbit Part 1 and Part 2
Frodo is in a prologue linking the Hobbit to LOTR I think. By the way Christopher Lee's official website has announced that he is in talks to return as Saruman. Apparently he most likely will if he remains in good health. Ian Holm may be in the prologue as the older Bilbo. Timelines are cool.

Ooh! I's will see that movie if it's the last thing I do! *squees* Unless IMBD is mistaken, Orlando Bloom has been confirmed to play Legolas! *dances* Now all we have left is David Tennant as Thrandy! I'm never going to be able to watch this movie with my parents if both of them are in it (which they'd better be). I have to figure out how to keep a goofy grin off my face, squee silently, and hide my incessant giggling!
And now I've started randomly squeeing during various parts of the day, even while in the middle of playing a piece on the piano, it's gotten so bad!

If both David Tennant AND Orli are in it, I'm going even if I have to fight of an army of ninjas!
That's good, squeeing is good! Just don't get kicked out of the movie theatre!

I think I remember hearing it's mostly clever filming angles and tricks- like in The Fellowship of the Ring when Gandalf's on that wagon thing next to Frodo, he was actually standing up under his robe or something to look bigger. Might be a myth though.

Re: The Hobbit Part 1 and Part 2
Actually, what i heard is that for the scenes where hobbits and regular size people are both present, they build two of that scene, one of them really big, and they film the hobbits in the big scene and everyone else in the regular size scene. Then they put the two bits together, and because the hobbits were filmed in a big scene, they look small, and everyone was filmed in a normal scene, so they look regular size.
Is that really confusing? It probably is..... My mom likes to talk about how they did that, so i understand it perfectly.
If i make any random typos or grammar errors, sorry. I'm probably on my iphone.

Hah, that sounds likely. It's really clever how things like that can still look so seamless.

Re: The Hobbit Part 1 and Part 2
It's called Forced Perspective. It's a bit obvious in the bit where Frodo says "It's wonderful to see you, Gandalf!" and they're riding in the waggon together. What they do is they have the actors standing/sitting at different distances from the camera. Or they can scale down the image of the actor - not sure what they did for John Rhys-Davies...

Hehe, I'm still stoked about Richard Armitage being a Dwarf; the only facial hair I've seen on him is in the end of BBC Robin Hood season two...and that was epic...but a full on Dwarf beard? Not entirely sure about that. Either way it'll be good. Apparently people are thinking that this will be an interesting role for him because it'll be based completely on his acting skills instead of how gawjus he is ^;^
Only prollum is that a' was really looking forward to David Tennant being in the film and now he won't be...ah well...

That would really be interesting...... I didn't really think about him dwarf style actually! I really just can't see it though. Him short...... beard....... I seriously just can't see it.
I'm still annoyed about that. I really wanted him to play Thranduil! He just isn't in enough films..... Though it does really look like Orlando is coming back as Legolas.

*shrugs* He's still going to be in there!
Now, random question! How would you like it if a ten year old Estel appeared in Rivendell in the Hobbit? As to who would play him, not sure. But the kid who played Eldarion did have an uncanny resemblance to Viggo's Aragorn.

I think it would be quite cool to see Estel, actually.

Actually, he looked a lot like Liv too. More so, I think. Though no relation, it seems.

Hrm... Sadwyn Borphy be his name! And I don't think he'd be too old.... well, he might be. He's fifteen now. I just wish they'd do that.... And his dad is playing Nori.....

Is his Dad really playing Nori?
Of course, it depends how well he can act...it might be that he's a rubbish actor- it's not like he had to act much in his short appearance.
Dude, they should slip Harry Lloyd in somewhere, as...I dunno...background elf number two-hundred and thirty-five or something...
But it's cool that the real father of Arwyn's child is going to be in the movie

Ooh! Most definitely! He looks so elven! Especially with that white hair he had as Viserys!
It tis! It tis! *randomly came up with this in the car* Here's how I's kind of see Estel being inserted in there....
Elrond: *talking to.... someone* Estel: *runs by, laughing* One of the twins: *runs by as well* Get back here, Estel! Elrond: *raises an eyebrow and shakes his head* My sons....

Re: The Hobbit Part 1 and Part 2
The original Hobbit was a cartoon version that came out sometime in the 70s possibly earlier than that I'm not certian, which my brother and I absolutely loved very very much we couldn't get enough of it as kids. Now that they'er making a movie with actors that'll be pretty awesome! I read part of the book too, and it was decent as far into it as I got. This is the only movie that has a real live dragon too!!! YAY dragon!!! =) heehee.
