That's a really good question. I guess he had all the energy he needed at the moment. And I don't think he had to face a rider.

it seems there is always ups and downs to go with everything, but then again "that's life"

it seems that they wouldnt die thou, having so many soliders to drain, i mean im sure that mabye if he was completely drained that he could suck all the energy from two or so people and feel nearly fine. i just think that the urge of battle was too much on his mind to think of draining peoples energy.

I think that he at the beggining of battle just forget about draining (in my opinion is feeling of dead much better than death). 8)

He should have drained a bit of energy from all his enemies. That way, they wouldn't die, so he wouldn't get the death feeling. Plus, it would make them easier to defeat.

Later, he kills a horse, but it would have died anyway. He was being humane. But with soldiers, they're human. Imagine dying over and over.

You say he was being humane, yet he was killing soldiers with zar'roc anyway. How is killing them with a sword being more humane than draining all their energy? :?

confusing....the feeling of death is all i can think of. plus doesn't it take alot of concentration cause then that makes sense that he didn't do it in battle

But he didn't need energy until he was fighting Murtagh, and then he probably had all of his wits occupied with that.

What a sensible thing to do. If I was Murtagh, I would have done exactly the same thing. He's clever that Murtagh is!

oops, I've gone a bit crazy.

In that case, Galby may be mad but he's not stupid.

the wizards on galby's side in the battle of the burning plains.

anyway, i think eragon was kinda stupid then. even though he hadn't thought of a fight with murtagh, he should've drained their energy and stored it into the belt or the ruby. i mean, at first he was even expecting a fight with galby. that would require a lot of energy and luck in order to win. so why didn't he do that? i don't know.

You are most like BROM

You are indeed wise and experienced! You may encounter foes along your path and you are definitely brave enough to face them. However, you are wise enough to know when you can avoid a fight and save your energy. Your keen ability to think on your feet, resourcefulness, and ability to make allies are skills invaluable in any conflict.

Very good point... So.. Eragon was being really stupid then.

Your right.. why didn't he.

Perhaps he tried to kill them quickly so they won't feel any pain.

Well in that case he should drain them quickly. No matter how good swordsman u are there is no chance that you will hit critical spot with every last one of your attacks so i think that draining will be less uhm... torturous?
painfull will be better word 8)
