Skylarwell
Name: Skylarwell
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Skills: The walls around Skylar's mind are solid, and his mind would be hard to invade. He also has an uncanny abillity to 'sense' when those he considers his friends are in danger. At times, he is also able to ask for wisdom from his dead dragon, Keriaia. (More on that one later.)
Race: Human, with the pointed ears a Rider would get.
Hair: Dark brown, down to the shoulders.
Eyes: A lighter brown than his hair.
Home Village: Reavstone
Parents: Mira and Ailus.
Siblings: None.
Character Personality: Skylar has always been a kind-hearted soul, this was tampred only slightly by his dragon's death. He is willing to spare a crust of bread and water, and a place to stay at his camp for a passing traveler. Also an honorable man, he repays his debts, and does his best to protect those who can't protect themselves, but in his eyes, he seems to think that he fails at doing so, recently. Chivilry rules Skylar as a warrior, and he follows his 'code of battle', not to attack the deffensless, or already defeated. To him, there is no point for a fight to the death over something foolish as pride. A sad and haunted look usually appears in Skylar's eyes these days, a great sorrow inside of him since the death of Keriaia. Despite this, the tragic death has left him with a small understanding of the world, and that you should enjoy life, and what you have, and never think of what you have as small and insignifigant. Skylar's suffering has also made him much easier to anger than he once was, often causing him to snap at those around him. He would not behave in such a way that he does if he didn't blame himself for Keriaia's death, which he hangs over his own head like a death scentence. Skylar has also lost much of his sense of meaning in the world, and does not as activly fight against the Empire. Although he feels he has nothing left to fight for, he will fight if need be. However, right now, all Skylar wants to do is reflect on his life, and be alone; so he travels the world, hoping to find a sense of purpose once more.
Character History: Skylarwell was born in Reavstone to his mother Mira, and his father Ailus. His father was smith of the town, thus, Skylar entered apprenticeship under his father. By the age of fourteen, he was quite able with hammer and anvil, but his future of becomming a simple blacksmith changed for the worse. The day he was to turn fifteen, the Empire rode through the village, looking for reported traitors. They found no answers, but they found their traitors, Skylar's parents, who had been making and giving weapons for the Varden. Simply being in relation to them got Skylar chained to the wagon train heading for Ura'baen. After marching for two days, they made it to the Burning Plains on the morning of the third day. That evening, a great flash appeared in the sky, and an object fell straight from the heavens, landing heavily about two leauges infront of them. The soldiers sent scouts to see what had happened, and they returned with a beautiful purple orb. Only Skylar's father recognized what it truly was, the soldiers had just thought they found a colorful stone that could make them wealthy. That night, they stopped to rest, not daring to try and travel on the Burning Plains at night. During that time, Ailus explained to Mira what the stone really was, and they both started to form a plan to steal the dragon egg. Only one problem remained for them, neither were healthy enough to not only outrun the Empire, but get the egg safely to the Varden. After deep consideration, they decided there was only one choice, and that was for Skylar to steal it and run. Together, Mira and Ailus told Skylar of the plan, to which he had to take in slowly, after learning what the stone was. Once he had agreed, they combined their strength to free Skylar with a word in the ancinent language that one of the Varden had taught to them incase they had ever been captured. The effort that they exerted almost knocked them out, and they did faint, but not before Ailus said his last words, which were 'Get the egg, son.. run, run as if the wind were your feet! South, Skylar.. south!' Afterwards, he blacked out. Skylar remained as quiet as he could, and it took him at least an hour to get to the cart which held the egg. Once he snuck inside, he looked around in the dark, trying to find the purple egg, and once he did, he began to lift it up, and place it in a stolen pack. However, he could not sneak away, for once he had the egg secured, a soldier alerted that he had escaped, and he knew he had no choice but to break out of the cart, and run, run faster than he had ever run before. Later that day, once he was dust covered and out of the Plains, he sheltered behind a large rock, and took a long rest. He had ran from the cart to there running mostly on adrenaline. Of course, curiousity got the better of him, and he took out the egg to examine it, after awhile, he felt a strange tingiling on his hand, and a strange silver mark appeared on his left hand. Not knowing what it was, he thought the egg had cursed him, and he was about to throw the thing away, when the shell cracked, and the small, amtheyst colored hatchling climbed out, and began licking it's membrane off. He sat slack-jawed for quite awhile, at the mere sight of the dragon, no matter how small. The whimper it started to sound was when he had the good sense to feed some of the rationed meat in the pack to the dragon. He stared in awe for a moment longer, then it curled up next to him and promptly fell asleep. He carried the dragon to the Varden, who explained to Skylar that the mark on his hand was not a curse, but a mark that made him a Dragon Rider. For days Skylar thought it was some cruel joke, but when Keriaia herself explained this to Skylar, he finally accepted the fact of it, and took up the mantle of his new role. Though, once Keriaia was old enough to fly great distances, he started to adventure, fighting the Empire where he could. Many adventures he had for years of his life, until one dark day, he and Keriaia had run into a large group of soldiers, which they could easily fight off. All of the misfortune in Alagaesia was alligned against them that day, for by mere bad luck, a group of spearmen had caught Keriaia unawares, and managed to get one shaft, straight through her eye, and into her head. Two things happened that instant, one, Keriaia released a wave of energy that killed all the soldiers in the vacinity immediatly. This saved Skylar from them, but not the agony of her death. The second thing she did in that milisecond, was, instead of converting herself into the Eldunari, she placed her conscienceness deep within the unaccesible parts of Skylars mind. After hours, Skylar managed to recover only enough that he could move away from the scene of the terrible battle, and nothing but the ashes of the soldiers and Keriaia's body remained. Since then, he has known Keriaia's presence in his mind, but far away from what he could unlock himself. Only when he needed her most, did Keriaia speak with Skylar, since it took much energy to do so. After Keriaia's 'death' however, Skylar has never quite been the same, even though he can feel her clouded presence in a hidden part of his mind. Now, he spends his days wandering the world, searching for answers in life.
Weapons: The only thing he carries that could be considered a weapon is a Rider's sword, Lunaea, or Life; the blade is green like the leaves of Du Weldenvarden.
Likes: Honor, loyalty, friends he can count on, honesty, and Dwarven ale.
Dislikes: Greed, blind hate, murderers and torturers... and stale mead.
Animal Companions: None.
Character's Physical Description: Skylar has his sword buckled to his waist, the hilt barely poking out from underneath his long cloak. The simple, worn cloak he wears covers his body completly, and has a hood attatched to the top of it. The whole cloak has been enchanted with wards that protect him from harmful magic, and cold steel alike. Underneath the cloak, he wears a blue linen shirt, and faded brown trousers. He covers his feet with thick leather boots. Also underneath the cloak, the opposite side of his sword, hangs a pack full of food, a blanket or two, usually a book, and medical supplies. One particular scar marrs his face, a long, faded mark of the past that stretches about a finger's worth down his left cheek. On his left hand is the faded mark of a rider, the silvery gedway insignia.
Dreams for the Future: Peace, freedom, and quiet at last.
Reason for Dreams: He's tired of running and fighting, and most of all, tired of the death.
Alignment/side: Nuetral, but he knows the difference between right and wrong.
This is like a redo of my old char, just with a new name and.. everything.. If anyone did RP with my old char, then they can recognize him if they wish.
