The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
(Felt like using that for a title, lol.)
Okay, what if the seven words Brom said to Eragon in Eragon in the AL were a way to say "I am your father,", but didn't tell Eragon in real language because he wanted Eragon to learn it all. I'm not saying it is definate, or even half-way over the shot of being real, but it is a chance, and would make sense. I think that's why Palinin didn't give us these words directly - we could have figured them out and discovered Brom was Eragon's father. Thoughts?

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
1. Like you said, it was seven words not 4 2. this isnt star wars 3. it says in eragon 'Brom told eragon 7 words in the acient laungage and then told him what they ment' (not exact words) 4. even if he didnt tell him the meaning, he would remember what the words were and he would have figured it out once oromis enhanced his knowledge of the acient laungage. 5. Why would Brom tell him it in the acient language if he knew he wouldnt understand it?

I didn't give the exact quyote and this thought comes from the fact people are speculating Brom is Eragon's father. 3. Read the page again. 4. Who's to say Oromis didn't know? He was Brom's Master. 5. Because he didn't know Eragon would understand it there and then. 6. You got owned!

ummm yeah, way to much time! lol.... well, its a fine theory, but i think the seven words were probably spells, seeing as they were in the ancient language and all, dunno, i definetly think they are important.

YESS!!!! LOVE THAT OWNED PAGE!!!!
However, brom is simply NOT eragon's father. From the points that other people have made (Which I am certainly NOT repeating). Besides I don't think CP would have his story go in that direction cause it's just lame.

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
the seven words might be -words to get him into the VOS -words he had to say when he wanted to retrieve Brom's sword from his family (ya know since he kinda lost zarroc) -words to only be spoken for great healing or destruction -words to protect one person of his choice if the time came (if galby ever cornered arya or saphira, he could use these words to save them) -maybe galby is incapable of dying in a normal way and the words would kill him

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
Actually, I'm not quite sure anymore that Eragon is going to kill galby. I'm positive that Shruikan is going to die, but not galby. I read an interview or something a couple of months ago on alagaesia.com where cp was talking to some other author and he said something like,"I don't know what to do with a villian when the hero doesn't want to kill him." I'm not sure, does anybody else know what I'm talking about? I'd look it up and reread it, but I forgot where on that website I found that at.

I mean its probley the most talked about theory, and CP shouldnt put it in the book if people have already torn it apart so many different ways that there is nothing new. What about suprise? I dont want Brom to be Eragons father.

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
Have you ever known of CP to come right out and say something? I haven't, so I think it's possible that Murtagh and the Twins jumped to conclusions when they heard Selena's name. I believe that Murtagh and Eragon are half-brothers. Same mother, different fathers (Brom and Morzan).

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
I still think that Brom is Eragon's father. Can you prove to me without a doubt that he is not? Do you have rock hard evidence? Aside from the feeble Murtagh said so, I don't care that it was in the AL. That just means he believes it to be true, that doesn't mean it IS.

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
AL= Ancient Language
All I have for proof is a pattern. That's all I need personally. Brom=blue dragon/Saphira; Eragon= blue dragon; Saphira
Morzan=red dragon/?????; Murtagh=red dragon/Thorn
Not to mention this: Oromis told Eragon that when Brom was his student, he was constantly asking questions. When Jeod described Eragon to Roran to prove they had met, he said he was constantly asking questions. Whose to say the father didn't pass on his personality to his son?

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
First, personality comes from a child's upbringing. I don't care what you say, genetics may have SOMETHING to do with it, aggression wise (Having too many chromosomes or something like that, I'm not stating the whole argument here as it is REALLY off topic). A clone of Hitler will not spawn another war unless given the EXACT same conditions that Hitler did. Second, there is absolutely NO hard-rock evidence that Brom is Eragon's father. All there is are theories that people have come up with within their highly twisted sense of logic. CP said in his book that Morzan was Eragon's father as a HUGE twist in the story, in order to make people re-examine their opinions about Eragon.

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
Wouldn't it create an even bigger splash if Brom DID turn out to be his father? After Murtagh told him Morzan was his father? Btw, what about what that riddle Blagden told him in Ellesmera? Blagden would never have met Morzan, otherwise he would have told Galbatorix where to find it. On the other hand, Brom had been to Ellesmera before and he was Elf-Friend, so no doubt he would have met Blagden. I don't care what y'all say, my opinion will not be swayed. I believe that Brom is his father. Anyway, we're off topic.

Uh...yes you are very off topic, but I guess the topic has been proved wrong anyway... I think the likeliest (sp?) one would be the VOS one, although the sword isn't bad.

Re: The Seven Words of Brom the Wise
About sword... i think he will please the elven craftsman to dead rather than go search for Broms old sword - if reaching it's destination wasn't extremely complicated Brom will do it himself a long time ago (what doest it matter if he is arrested with his own sword or with sword of fallen dragon ridder who by the chance was one of few working with Galby). Unless you need a dragon for reaching it...but than again have you ever tryed to describe precise place with 7 words?
