I think Roran will be next Rider, it makes since. CP said that a good chunk of the book will be spent with Roran, didn't he? Well anyway, it would make since, to me anyway, because Roran would be the family trader!

I've just finish the book, and love it!!

Just a few thoughts: I'm not so sure that Roran is the family traitor, because I think that Eragon and Murtagh are brothers and he is more likley to be the traitor. He was raised by Galbatorix, plus he never alowed anyone to enter his mind, that's why I think he's hiding something. And Durza? He knew Murtagh!
Remember those months when Murtagh mother disapear? I believe that she knew she was pregnant but didn't want anyone to know (because she didn't want the baby to have the same luck that her other son), so she escaped, went to her brother, had the baby (Eragon) and returned. I think it makes perfect sense! But I like Murtag, so I want to believe that after the betrayl he gegrets it, because he does love his brother and because he have fallen in love with Nasuada. I also think that Murtagh should have his father sword, because Eragon should have one of his own and since they are going to Ellesméra, the elves should make him one. Than again these are just my ideas, like Louis said, we have to wait for the next book!

I think the next rider will be the boy Eragon blessed.

From what I'v heard about family betrayal i think that a war breaks out and roran inlists in the army. It may seem stupid but thats my opinion. I feel Murtagh should be trusted due to his deeds on the way to and his stay with the Varden. No offence but roran is unlikly to become a rider and the books are unlikly to span enough time for the child to grow up and train to be a rider. The child also lives with the Varden while all the known dragon eggs are located with the empire, from what I have heard it will be near impossible to steal the eggs without a large war. A covert operation would be unlikly with eragon and arya indispensible and normal spies should be unsuccesful.

I dont think that the knew dragon rider is ny1 we no yet. About the family betrayal... hav u thought of mayb his father betraying him?? We (except mayb those who hav gotton a copy early) dont no nything bout his father yet. But if murtahg actually was his brother he has a good chance of betraying eragon. Or roran could b mad at eragon 4 leaving w/out going to his father's funeral and mayb roran blams eragon 4 his father's death. I guess i will just hafta wait and c...

no, cuz he got the dragon rider blood from his father,morzan, and his relation to roran is through his mother, so roran has no blood connection to morzan like eragon and murtagh do

dont you guys remember there are four riders at the end of book 2? Galbatorix,Eragon,Murtagh,and Oromis. so who's going to be the 5th rider? i think its a mystery! i think it will be a new character that chris.P. brings out, or at least i hope! i mean it would be really awsome if Roran was the next rider but dont you think that Chris.P. would think that was to ovious?{don't get me wrong Roran is one of my fav characters} maybe it will be an elf:?:

i dont think that being a Rider means that you have to have Rider-blood... remember that the Dragon itself picks who is worthy ... sooooo... i guess it is possible that Roran will be the last Rider. but- if there will be a new character... hmmm... i'm not really sure.

i repeat my previous statement: there are 4 DRAGONS, glaedr,thorn,saphira,and shurtagle{i didn't spell that right} and then there is still the dragon egg that hasn't hatched yet, if saphira mates with Thorn and Shurtagle. and if the last egg hatches for a new rider it could be a girl so there would be two girl dragons and two guy dragons{excludeing Glaedr becouse he is so old}or it could be a boy, but either way it works
