Blake
Name: Blake
Age: 29
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Home Village: Drahs Leona
Parents: Draeken Turx (father, alive); Maren (mother, deceased)
Siblings: Todd (half-brother, deceased); Draek (half-brother, deceased); many other half-brothers and sisters who did not survive his father's experiments.
Skills: Blake has mastered all of your basic survival skills. He can live off the land, track, and knows field medicine, including which plants are beneficial and which are lethal. He has some skill in torture. Sword-fighting: One of the Twin's is versed in sword-play, so Blake has trained this skill to the extreme. He is a wicked combination of speed, power, and cunning. Close combat: The other Twin is said to prefer a hand-to-hand and close range attack style, so Blake has trained extensively in different forms of hand-to-hand combat and with multiple close-range weapons. Magic: Despite having so many spells placed on him and having such a powerful spellcaster for a father, Blake's own magical talent is moderate. A fact which earned him many beatings in his younger days.
Character Personality: Blake on a good day is colder than an arctic ice cap in the middle of winter. When he was still in his mother's womb, his father cast many spells on him to make him stronger and faster than a normal human, with the side-effect that Blake has little to no emotions. His mother died in child-birth and when he was old enough to eat solid food, his father took him away from his wetnurse. Those first few months of his life were the kindest, for after that he was shown no mercy and was treated in the cruelest way imaginable, by his own father. In an effort to turn him into the perfect weapon, Blake's father turned him into a cruel, cold, and calculating individual. He is incredibly smart and a better-than-average tactician. Pain is nothing to Blake, for he endured beatings and torture as a toddler that would have killed an adult. Blake is not without mercy though. He will not kill someone unless provoked, and he never kills children. His entire being however, is focused on one thing. Avenging the half-brothers he never knew, and their mother. That is his whole reason for existing. The one thing in life that matters to Blake is capturing the daughters of the Shade that killed his brothers, and taking them to his father, so his father can exact his revenge upon them. It could be debated that Blake has been driven insane by the agonies inflicted upon him by his father and his obsession with the twins Soleil and Illuna, but he is so cold and calculating, so able to function normally, that even those that know him best are unsure of his mental stability.
Character History: The road that led to Blake's birth is a long one. It began with the slaughter of a man's family, then that man's obsession with revenge. When the Shade Tedren murdered the wife and young sons of Draeken Turx, a powerful magician in Galbatorix's army, Draeken swore he would have his revenge, no matter how long it took. He was so consumed by his hate that his true name changed, breaking his oaths to the King. This was exactly what he needed to be able to do what he had in mind, for it was a twisted scheme even in the eyes of the tyrant king. And so he set about creating the perfect weapon for Tedren's destruction. But not just any weapon made of steel or wood, this weapon would be of Draeken's blood. With his goal firmly in his mind, he began siring children as quickly as possible. For awhile he married the women whose bodies he was using, but as they all died eventually from complications and they were really only a means to an end, he stopped. Finally, on his twenty-third try, he succeeded. He sired a child with a poor girl named Maren, his second attempt with her, the first being stillborn. This child survived all of the spells he cast upon it and Maren was able to carry him to term, though she died in childbirth. Draeken paid her family handsomely for her services, though he did not permit them to ever meet her son. He named the boy Blake, but did not deign to give him his own surname, as he had not been married to Maren and it was unnecessary. He waited until Blake was two years old before starting the boy's training. The spells placed on him before he was born made him intelligent and enhanced his natural athletic abilities, but Draeken wasn't satisfied. Blake never heard a kind word from his father and every touch was violent. Not that he cared. The many beatings and torture sessions from his father had stamped out anything that could be remotely associated with emotion. At four years old he was as cold and ruthless as a hardened criminal. At ten years old he killed his first human because the man had pushed him. The man in question was six feet tall and weighed 200lbs. That same year news reached his father of the Shade who had started all of this. To Draeken's delight, the Shade had married and fathered twin girls. He now knew exactly how he would get his revenge, but Blake was ready yet. His training increased with a fervor to where he was only allowed a few hours of sleep a night and meals were eaten on the move, if he had pleased his father enough to earn his food. After sixteen more years of cruelty, hardship, and training, Blake was deemed ready by his father to hunt down the Shade and his family. And so Blake started planning... He sent an initial attack force of mercenaries to the island where the Shade lived, while he followed a few days behind. He knew there was no hope of that hopeless rabble defeating the Shade and his daughters. The only point behind the attack was to flush them out. Blake wanted a good chase before he took the girls to his father. To his delight word reached him that the girls had fled in the face of a nameless threat. This would be fun. It has been three years since the first assault, and Blake has seen nothing of his prey, but neither have they seen him. That's alright though, he's very patient....
Weapons: Blake's favorite weapon is a sword with a two-handed hilt, but a blade that is only slightly longer than normal. The blade is double-edged, and as it was forged by elves, will never dull nor rust. Blake knows his father paid a fortune for the weapon, but doesn't know who he bought it from. He named it "Shade's Death", the name is etched in the Common Tongue on the leather scabbard. Blake also carries a pair of knives that are similar in appearance to Shade's Death. He has trained hard with these knives and plans to use them when he fights the twin with the close-combat style. On a chain around his neck are two rings, forged by the metalsmiths of Belatona while his father spoke the Ancient Language over the hot metal. Each ring is unique in appearance, has the ability the bind the powers of the twin for which it was made, and can only be removed by Blake once he activates it. One ring is made of two delicate bands of metal, one platinum, one silver, twisted around each other with a diamond setting. The inside of the ring is smooth, where the two bits of metal were hammered together, and has runes etched into it. These runes are the physical representation of the spells placed on the ring. The outside of the ring is ridged and bumpy, showing where the metal pieces were twisted around each other. The second ring is similar to the first, but the two pieces of metal are copper and gold. They are twisted around each other and the inside of the band is flat, where the two pieces were fused together. Unlike the first ring, this one has a ruby setting and the runes are on the outside of the ring. This ring has the same properties as the first. If one or both of the Twins are wearing the ring(s), they can not sense each other.
Weakness/Fear: Though he probably will never admit it, his one fear is his father.
Likes: Nothing really
Dislikes: Illuna, Soleil, their father, his father
Dreams for the Future: To capture the Twins and avenge his half-brothers
Reasons for Dreams: This is the whole reason he was born in the first place. He was always meant to be a weapon against them and their father.
Appearance: Considering that no one in his family is particularly tall, it can be assumed that Blake's height is a result of the spells augmenting his physical abilities. He is 6'5" and lean, very lean. He has very little meat on his bones and most of his weight is muscle. His hair is black, and roughly 3in in length. Most of the time his bangs hang in his eyes to hide their color. Another effect of the spells placed on him in the womb caused his eyes to turn a bright, molten orange. They seem to almost glow at night, and it's a very unnerving sight to see orange eyes gleaming at you in the darkness before his pale face and the rest of him appears. He most often wears a grey, long-sleeved cotton shirt, a black leather tunic, and dark brown pants. When Blake was 16 his father learned of the strange tattoos Illuna and Soleil bear on their faces, and as soon as he had an accurate sketch of each, he branded Blake in a similar fashion. On his back he bears a horrendous burn scar. It is a circle, one half shaped like the crescent moon tattoo of Illuna, the other similar to the sun of Soleil. There are straight lines radiating from the main circle like rays of light. The scar almost completely covers the skin of his back.
