Odd Occurrences

IC: Jia flew idly through the azure-blue-sky of the dry-heat-Hadarac Desert. Her gold-rimmed-with-amethyst scales luxuriated in the pleasure of the scalding heat, soaking up the warmth like a parched sponge. Her teal-aquamarine eyes were half-slitted, with her first and second eyelid closed to shield them from the intense-dry-air that lapped at her face. An itch popped up on her neck, and she raised a claw to dig at it absently. In the process, her claw caught on the scar on her neck. She fingered it, remembering how she had received it. She had been in Surda with her Rider, and they had found the remains of an original Dragon Rider, from before the Fall. They had left hastily, but not fast enough. The corpse of both the Rider and the Dragon had magically come to life, and a battle ensued. The skeleton Dragon had nearly killed her with three horrific wounds; A nasty bite to the neck, a slash on her stomach from her chest to her pelvis, and the double crescent shape on the top and bottom side of her tail. All three injuries had been healed to Ka's (her Rider) best knowledge. But the scars remained. Her stomach barely hampered her at all, but the double crescents on her tail hindered her flight to a point and slowed her down in battle. Her neck hardly ever bothered her, except if she had to twist around real fast, then they would pull uncomfortably, but they never kept her from performing an aerial move. She sighed and returned to reality. She noted that her tongue was becoming sticky, and soared slightly lower to search for a watering hole. She happened across an oasis. She hummed and floated down on silent wings until she had landed light on the sand. She padded forward to the edge of the water an lowered her muzzle to drink deeply. Though she was a dragon, dehydration could still slow her down and make her ill if she wasn't cautious. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Wiol ono Rest in peace, ILS. Gender: Guy Affiliation: Dragonriders Dragon: Bahamut	Re: Odd Occurrences For the past few days, Bahamut had been growing weary. Despite sleeping often, he still felt worn out. Maybe it was just the fact that he was bored. Although he enjoyed freedom once more, he saw the world today as boring. Two legs were the rulers now and the remainder of his kin was scarce. Bahamut had been wandering the desert for a while now. So feeling tired he desided to go rest. He found an oasis, so after he took a drink, he layed flat down in the sand. A sand storm began to brew up. This didnt bother him though, he just decided to sleep through it. Several days later, dunes formed over Bahamuts body, concealing him next to the oasis. The only thing that was revealed of him was the tip of his snout...which just looked like a boulder surrounded in sand. Bahamut awoke subconciously when he heard a dull thud coming from outside. Although it didnt interest him, so he remained still. _________________ -------------------------------------

She stretched luxuriously, flaring her wings to full length before returning them to her sides. She sniffed at the air again, trying to pin-point the scent of prey. She caught the traces of fox...abruptly the small russet brown creature darted from bush to tree. She pounced instantly, ending the fox's life swiftly with her talons. Unknowingly, she had jumped directly into Bahamut's field of vision. She settled down near the edge of the water and began to carve her meal into pieces; unlike other dragons, she preferred to eat delicately rather than simply tear a hunk here, rip a chunk there. She buried the head, then set about eating her kill. It was small, especially for a growing dragoness like herself, but it was meat, and she was not about to complain. She had finished half of the meal when she heard a very light, swishing sound. Like sand falling down on itself. It irritated his nose, he flared his nostrils, causing some of the sand on him to shift. Bahamut still had his eyes closed but he was starting to get annoyed. Once done she buried the skeleton, then set about cleaning her talons. She stepped lightly into the pool, shivering with pleasure as the cool water slid past her scales. She sighed and sank down deeper until only the tip of her nose was visible. She snorted softly, then began bathing, paying vigorous attention to every crack between her scales, every imperfection on her hide, until her gold-rimmed-with-amethyst scales glittered and shone in the sunlight. She pulled herself out of the water, still dripping wet, then shook herself furiously to rid herself of the tickling droplets that slithered down her neck and sides. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Gender: Guy Affiliation: Dragonriders Dragon: Bahamut	Re: Odd Occurrences Bahamut cringed in annoyance at whatever was still nearby. It was now in the oasis pool. Finally Bahamut had enough. He lifted his head up from the sand, the mound of sand shook away from Bahamut's head. Although he kept where his body was, so it was just head showing. Lifting up his neck, he turned towards the oasis. He found a dragon just getting out of the oasis. Bahamut watched the dragon for several minutes. Since the size difference was emmese and that the dragon seemed harmless... Bahamut lost interest and layed his head back down in the sand without a word. _________________ -------------------------------------

Gender: Girl Affiliation: Skulblakans Dragon: Faelia	Re: Odd Occurrences Jia squeaked with fear, to her utter embarrassment, and sprang to the side as a mountain of sand a bit to her left shifted and moved, revealing the head and neck of a dragon. When she'd seen Lean as a hatchling, she'd sworn that the ancient black was the biggest thing she'd ever seen. She took that back now. This dragon before her was immense, in every sense of the word. Her legs trembled lightly, but not with fear, surprisingly. With excitement of meeting another of her kin. She took a step forward toward the dragon, who seemed to have lost interest in her as soon as it saw her. She dipped her head respectfully, pulling her left foreleg up to her chest in a small bow. She stood straight again, yet kept her head down low to the ground. I apologize if I disturbed your rest, Veken. I did not know there as any other than me here. she murmured, using an honorific praise from the Draconic Tongue commonly put to dragons with many years and experience behind them. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. She shrugged mentally just as he requested her to come closer. She warily obeyed, feeling slight apprehension at being near such an enormous member of her kin. His head alone was roughly two or three times her mass, easily. The bright yellow irises that looked her up and down made her scales prickle on her tail. She padded forward and stopped so she was just shy of being underneath his jaw. She looked up at him, her teal eyes glittering with curiosity. She listened, fascinated, as he spoke of her future and destiny. She grew slightly disgruntled at his comment on her size though. Am I really that small for a nine month old? she asked cryptically, shuffling her wings. She sighed and waved her tail from side to side, shaking her head. My size for example, some say that fate has smiled upon me, others a curse. Whatever the cause may be, it matters not. We are what we are. Its what you do that affects you. Bahamut paused for a moment. When I hatched, I was taken for an abomination. I was lothed, despised, and hated. So I made them fear me instead, and more importantly...respect me. Before even the two legs came along, the dragons were divided. Seperated by groups or even clans. Perhaps it does, but then again we live in a world of turmoil and chaos, thanks to the scale-deprived, hornless worm on the throne. Everyone kills, sometimes for love, others for greed, and yet others for hatred or anger. I've killed in anger. Someone kidnapped my Rider to sell him on the Black Market. her lips peeled back in a devilish grin, pleasure gleaming in her eye. His body was so mutilated after I was done torturing him, even I couldn't recognize him. I've spilt blood in rage, tortured even. I'm no better than you, if kills of the past are being counted. she said, and snorted softly. She would do anything for Ka. As I grew older my thirst for battle was insashable. I began fighting and killing any dragon I came across. To prove my strength... I fought any one who challenged me to the death. Many years later the elves came. We waged war with them for a very long time. I brought much destruction, blood, and fire benethe my wings. Finally at long last the dragons and the elves came to an agreement. I on the other hand agreed to nothing. So I continued my wrath on any I could find. I became consumed...twisted... and by then for each one of my kin I killed... Bahamut bared his fangs. I ate their flesh. Bahamut turned his head towards the sun. The leaders of the elves and dragons at the time formed together and bound me to a prison, here in the Hadarac. That's all fine and dandy, if you want to dilly around on the past. What you did shaped you then. What you do now, in the present, will do the same for the future. But your actions can only shape you if you allow it to be so, not before. I believe in a sort of Fate. Something that places us when and where we need to be. Perhaps you were imprisoned so that you would survive to help rebuild our race now. she shrugged. That's my opinion. Accept it or not, that's your choice to make. she said offhandedly. She sighed and shook her head, turning half away from Bahamut to gaze at the sky. It was painted with a light orange pink, signaling that night was close to coming. She stretched, arching her spine and extending her claws to furrow into the sand. She ruffled here wings, then turned back to the bipedal, curious despite herself. What were dragons like back then, if they were different at all? They were extremely territorial, such is the nature of wild dragons. To put simply our nature was alot more savage then... it wasnt until we made a pact with the elves that we had a more calm nature. _________________ -------------------------------------

Now dragons today have gotten soft... its no shock that because of that we are on the verge of extinction. Bahamut pushed himself up and got the rest of his body out of the sand. The few other times I've been out here, I've been preoccupied with one situation or another, so I haven't had the chance to actually explore. And this place makes me feel so alive and vibrant with energy. she extended her wings and stretched. And to get away from the battles for a few days.
