After trying to obtain an interview with Christopher Paolini before leaving for New York I was finally able to obtain some questions answered. Random House Canada offered us the chance to get some questions answered by Christopher Paolini.


SF: Do you have an estimate of how many copies of Brisingr you signed at the first event in New York?

CP: I signed 2000 or so and then I did an additional 1700 at the RH offices the next day.

SF: What did you think of the turn out of the fans?

CP: It was wonderful - I couldn't have asked for anything better and even more incredible than the turn out was their incredible enthusiasm.

SF: Have you seen a copy of your books in every language which they were publish?

CP: Pretty much! There are a few that have yet to be sent but I've seen the majority of them.

SF: Is there a message you would like to give to your fans from SaphiraForums

CP: I'd like to say thank you to everyone for reading the series. I very much appreciate their devotion to the books. I promise to write book four as fast as I can!! And as Eragon would say, "May your swords stay sharp."

SF: I know this is kind of ahead of time, but do you think you will continue writing after book 4 and if so is there anything that you can tell us?

CP: Yes, I intend to continue writing after I continue the series. However, at the moment book four is my main priority and I don't really want to discuss something that far into the future at the moment.

Wait how would you know tha Brisinger is a geat book have you read it? If so I envy you to the very bottom of my heart

oh i feel really bad now...every1 i know has already finished it and i havnt even got it yet grrrrrrrrrrrrr so frustrating

My guess is at least another 2 years I know, I get called optimistic all the time.

Im thinking faster than two years only cuase he had most of book three done he said at one point before he split it into 4 books. The means he has most of 4 written right? so all that he would need to do is so revising and add some stuff and more detail in order to make it its own book... Thats just my guess

It doesn't really matter if he's finished book 4 or not.
His editor will decide when it will be released for max. impact and profit.
My guess is sept'09 or sept'10.

Guys don't talk like this on SF. The 4th book will come out when it is ready. It will just have to take the time so that it is better then Brisingr.

Let's keep it positive, we're all here because we're fans of CP's work, no matter how long it might take....

I'm kinda hoping it won't be another three years though



And believe me, being ready is a LOT better than being fast. You learn that with software very quickly after the program crashes for the 100th time when they could have spent more time developing it and done a much better job.
