Technically, no one over cyberspace can be close friends, unless they know each other in real life, or if they work on the same website in a big luxerious head-quarters, such as Google.

I suppose you could be close friends over cyberspace, though, although on cyberspace, my closest friend is still my computer, since it allowes me to connect and operate in cyberspace.

Then Sauron, do you not approve of internet relationships? (bf/gf type) I personally do not think a person can have a gf/bf over the internet...the chances of meeting are slim...

No, I don't approve of Internet relationships...well, that's my opinion, and there are many valid reasons why Internet relationships are so silly and dangerous. I saw Internet relationships happening all the time when I used to play Runescape (quit about a year ago). The main reason why I don't approve of them, is because you can never be sure who you're Internet dating. You think it may be a nice kid that's your own age, yet, its really a 70 year old pedophile that's pretending to be a 12 year old kid, or something, and if two people in an Internet relationship were to meet each other in real life, the young kid may find his/her self meeting a 70 year old pedophile!

Of course if its an adult dating another adult on the Internet, its a tad safer, although if they were to meet each other in real life, the adult may be meeting a bad guy or something. So really, to add something positive , that I do approve of, is Internet relationships in games such as Runescape, where the two people actually know each other in real life - say their Girlfriend at school or boyfriend or just friend. I wholly approve of that, because a) you know each other very well b) you know that you're quite safe.

It depends on how much you "get into it" before you meet, like if you have a webcam or something, and you can actually see waht they look like...I have a problem with them thinking they will meet..

I hate to contradict you, but in my opinion, that can be just as dangerous as meeting the other person in real life. Going back to the 12 year old kid and the 70 year old pedophile, if they were to see each other for the first time, and the 12 year old kid realised that he had been conned by the 70 year old, he would be stunned and scared. Of course he could inform the police of the incident, but then the 70 year old would probably leave. If that 70 year old was a "Black hat Hacker" to add to the turmoil, then he could probably hack into the kid's systems, and discover where the kid lives. This is going to extremes of course, and usually a 70 year old pedophile wouldn't want to be revealed to a 12 year old, but if they do - and it probably has happened, and not just a 70 year old but any pedophile or bad person, then troubles can occur, if that person knows exactly where you live.

To conclude my statement, I would just stick to real life relationships, with people that you actually know and can trust, because on the Internet - it's a wide world and because most of us are "hidden behind computer screens" it can be scary who people really are.

I agree with you completely, but it just gives a better idea of what the person looks like/is...Im not saying its completely safe or anything, but its SAFER than meeting them in rl...

Again, I agree to stick with rl relationships...Its not smart to meet someone in hopes of getting married/dating..

And are they getting married? From what you tell me, no. It will only "work out" if they get married and keep it going from there. Can you honestly say that dating someone and not marryign them is "working it out"?

Okay, okay, no need to get angry at me. I'm not going to argue with you, but just say this (which is my opinion):

You are correct. Some of these Internet relationships do work out, and there are good people over the Internet, you can also have friends over the Internet.

What my point is in these relationships, is that it's the chance that if you're going to meet someone from an Internet relationship in real life, you may find yourself in the red, if you know what I mean. It may only be a 10 % chance that the person who you are going to meet is rotten, but 10% is still a massive chance, something which I would never, ever risk. Even a 1% or a 0.5 % chance that the person on the other end is bad, I still wouldn't risk meeting them.

There are a few people I would trust to meet in real life from the Internet though (this is relationship chat too, because friends are relationsips)- the webmaster of good sites, such as louis with EragonPlus, Mike with shurtugal.com, emerson from mugglenet, ect, ect, because i can tell that they'd be good people, else they wouldnt spend years on a good harmless website.

Well, nutta if you want your girlfriend back, you have to do something that she'll take you back. I suggest you give her:

a) a ring
b) say you're sorry and that you promise never to do it again
c) buy her chocolates and flowers
d) Take her out to aposh restraunt for dinner, andthen tell her how much you love her, and get the musicians at the restraunt to play her favourite song, then ask her to take you back, but you have to get on your knees and do that.

If that doesn't work, then you may call me the "Problem Failure"

Of about people you know. I know people that have gone with Sauron's approach. Maybe it's just me, but you are lashing out a bit too much.

Why should you care what other ppl think of your relationship? Its your business, not theirs.

Update on my situation as of the 29/8/07.

The other girl that I liked i definitely lost interest in her. Why? Because a) she flirted with so many boys it isn't funny. b )She was turning naughty, if you know what I mean. c) She is so dumb with her school work, even a 10 year old knows more than her.

Anyway, I now like this other girl who I liked back in grade 7. She is my size (which is awesome) and amazingly she is very easy to get along with. I'm not going to tell yous about her, because I respect her privacy. But fronzz - are you sure that your Maddie would have approved of you putting images of her on here? I mean she might not have wanted her face on the internet for obvious reasons.
