Voodoo dolls were originally used by Haitan witch doctors to help heal people, then idiotic American tourists who went over there and saw them fabricated all of that rubbish about them being used to hurt / curse people. Voodoo actually has nothing whatsoever to do with curses or malicious use, it's used entirely for healing and therapy. Go figure.

Maybe they can be misused like that, but originally their purpose was for healing and not harm. Voodoo in general is a healing magic, and has absolutely nothing to do with curses whatsoever. As I said, tourists from America, England etc went over and fabricated rubbish.

We north americans are very superstitious. we believed voodoo was a pagan ritual.

I did not say that it came form America or England. I said that the stories of curses and dolls being used as pin cushions were spread to western people like us by American and English tourists who went to Haiti, saw witch doctors and voodoo dolls and got the wrong idea.

Voodoo itself was born from a merging of the traditional beliefs of the West African slaves brought to Haiti and Roman Catholic Christianity which the slavers tried to force upon the slaves, so yes, it's roots are African and I don't deny that.

All I am trying to say is that Voodoo has nothing whatsoever to do with curses, zombies or any other kind of malicious magic. The whole thing with Voodoo dolls being used to hurt people, zombies being created by witch doctors, curses etc. is simply speculation that was made by western tourists and added into mainstream western culture.

Well, the best way to resolve a dispute over knowledge like this, is to look it up. The internet is an amazing tool for learning new information. =]
