Really, I do think it's gonna be Arya. It's so obvious but the storyline would go way more INTERESTING if Arya becomes a rider. Remember what Angela said? Eragon would leave Alagaesia forever (probably on dragonback) I would think Arya would leave with Eragon, both on their separate dragons. WOW... that's kinda romantic. And Roran... there's a possibility since it wud look cool if he and Eragon beat Murtagh together and Eragon shouts "RORAN IS MY BROTHER! NOT YOU MURTAGH!"

agreed!! i reali hope it's Arya n that she and Eragon fall in love.....however i dont think that Elva will return to being a baby when Eragon removes his blessing/curse from her.....i think she will still b powerful... and still has a huge part to play in the rest of the story..... otherwise wot would have been the point in introducing her n going through all the description and emotive language CP used???? it would jus av been a waste of time.

I reckon that as Eragon and Saphira defeat Galby, Galbatorix will as a last act of spite will destroy the egg. Also as Galbatorix will be dead Murtagh will be freed of his bindings and be able to live out his own life.
Saying that I would think that Murtagh is not Eragon's brother but was twisted by Galbatorix's magic. As it was in the vision in the first book Murtagh will be standing on the edge of the lake as the boat pulls away. The dragons in the sky will be Saphira and Thorn (Who I think will be named something more noble later on). As they pull away for distant shores they will find more dragons, as the magic and life of the world wasn't diminished in the world as it has an attachment to dragons' lives.

I'm pretty sure that Elva will sacrifice herself for Eragon or Saphira after helping him with his love for Arya.

I never said that Thorn goes with her... I just meant that they were flying in the sky. Thorn would stay with Murtagh as a good dragon and rider would. I don't think Roran would get the final egg, it just doesn't seem right.

But then perhaps CP will throw in a twist such as a dwarf getting the egg and by that bring the 3 races closer together.

i think that for a dwarf to get the egg there'll have to be some sort of ritual with the dragons and i don't think there's time for that

I think the only two logical people who could be the next dragon rider is ether Arya or Vanir. Arya becouse, 1. not much training would be needed for her to be extremly powerful, 2. Eragon likes her so if the green dragon were to become saphira's mate then that problem is solved, 3. when the egg is captured Arya whould have direct access to it, 4. her magics color is green also, and 5. There needs to be a woman rider in the books.

As for Vanir 1 reason is becouse he is young amoung the elfs (thogh there is no age limit on the next dragon rider as I under stand, correct me if I'm wrong) , 2 he is an exceptional person in magic and swords manship (but he will still need alot of trainign in both of the arts to compare to even Eragon), but 3 and most inportant he is an elf (what can I say the next rider will be an elf in my opinion). But I think Arya is the next Dragon Rider.

I just don't want Arya to be rider simply because it would kill the book for me. Too many books have predictable endings and events, namely Harry Potter. So far, Eragon has been fairly unpredictable with Murtagh getting captured and becoming a rider, but I don't want CP to ruin that with a predictable, and in my opinion, stupid event.

If it was up to me, the egg would just hatch, not for anybody OR the egg hatches for "x" and mates with Saphira to reborn dragons, but they are released. As I recall there was somebody in the book who said that Riders were of the bygone past. Once Galb is defeated, they really should abandon the whole rider concept. Reviving things from the past isn't always the greatest way to solve a problem.

CP just let out too many hints. He should have kept more out of his books. It's too obvious because it's so hint-ridden.

I've just written this in another thread but I'll write it again. We're all thinking about the Varden's side getting the egg. But hello the egg is in GALBY's posession and like Brom said it would be suicide to try and steal the egg. So Katrina is already captured. She becomes the next rider and serves Galby. Eragon grows powerful b/c of the VOS. He defeats Galby and maybe Murtagh will die 2 and then Katrina (and maybe Murtagh) will come back to Roran.

Dragonfan, I don't think that Galby will get it because then Eragon wouldn't have a chance. Galby + Murtagh + another rider > Eragon. BY ALOT. Even with the power from the vault of souls, he has no chance if it it 3 vs. 1. That is why 2 vs. 2 is more reasonable.

Good point, but if there was another rider, they would steal Eragon's glory. And the book is mostly about Eragon. What will happen if the other rider does everything Eragon should have done? What will CP write about then? Eragon won't be special any more. Its a pretty good idea, IMNC, but how are they supposed to get the egg to the Varden/elves if its so heavily guarded?

Back to the topic. I think Katrina might. She's already captured and they probably will show the egg to her as they did to Murtagh. Then she gets the egg, Roran and Eragon come just in time and rescue her, and they go to the Varden. Stupid, but it just might be true.

she's just a damsel in distress. She has no merits besides how she looks. She would be a very weak rider. Because CP needs a strong rider, it can't be her (or any other human, but that's not the point.)

My own opinion is that I hope Roran gets the egg, but it's probably going to hatch for Arya. All the foreshadowing points to her, and Paolini likes to stick to conventions.

i say arya mainly cus shes a trained swordsman and magic user, and theres little time to train anyone in those aryas, i mean, areas, and oromis is dying and who else would train them, unless the egg hatched at end of book, which would be boring, in a way

again, TIME is key. they don't have time to train someone with absolutely no skill in swordsmanship, magic, or dragon riding. They need someone with skill in those areas.

they aren't going to have to wait. and they CAN'T hold on their own. they NEED another rider.

i dnt think arya has much skill in dragon riding either. and i think the biggest evidence that it will be roran is that eraggon and roran go to helgrind without arya so that could be were they find it and it hatches for roran.

srry. dragon riding slipped in there. but Arya will at least know some ABOUT dragons. that's a plus, even if it's minor, AND she knows how to communicate with other creatures. That takes years for most to learn Brom said.

Again, the egg doesn't have to hatch for ANYONE there, and if it doesn't which is likely, Eragon will probably take it to Arya, who he knows was the egg courier.

well that was after he had already completed most of his training, and he had that scar on his back which was a huge problem that roran wont have.

it will most likely be arya. i don't think it will be angela, elva, nasuda, or solembum. (solembum being the next rider?! i can't imagine that! ) roran is very unlikely; he doesn't seem to want to be all powerful, he just wants to kill the raz'ac, find katrina, marry her, and settle down.

i don't thinkthe next rider will be Roran... Eragon himself said that " the Empire needs a king who can age..." (may not be exact words but still...) and the way he lead the people of carvahall he led them like a king! but i still think the next rider will be arya or elva...and who knows the last dragon egg may not be green remember the chapter when Eragon had to go to the stone of broken eggs? he steped on a shard of green dragon egg. my point is there could be a wild dragon in alageasia or a forth rider...this onley my opinion

Elva is too young, freaky, and then she would have 2 marks, so her forehead and palm would glow, which would be wierd. lol. Arya on the other hand has a good chance.

the main problem about roran being a rider is that there wo't be a happy ending between him and katrina. he will live on until who knows when, while katrina will lead a normal life. she'll die and roran will spend a lot of his life mourning, since he loves her so much.
