 Vengeance And BloodTyleek ran with the speed of Theldor, his golden eagle companion that flew close beside him. He was bare-chested, as usual, with his long stave angling across his back. He'd gotten word that a strange woman had been found in Surda, which was where he was heading to now. His hope flared brightly within his heart, but he forced it down, wary to let himself feel to much. Even if the woman wasn't his sister, he would assist her in escape. The earth beneath his naked feet changed subtly, becoming harsher, crueler. The Allatik winced internally; what hardships had this land been forced to watch that had made it so unfeeling? He shook his head and pushed on, determined to reach the Capitol by nightfall. That was still several hours away, and he didn't have much farther to run. Theldor squawked softly in concern, his kind green eyes watching Tyleek worriedly.
I'm fine, Botsa. I swear I won't loose myself, or let anger control me. I've never let it do that to me before, and I'm not about to start now. He soothed the golden eagle, using a family word that Cy Ara had taught him that meant 'Brother'. The male Allatik glanced to the side toward Theldor, reaching out with one hand to stroke the side of his companions head. Everything will go fine. I promise you this, Theldor. He murmured to the eagle, though in truth he felt just as confused as his friend did. He shook such thoughts away, returning his attention to the horizon ahead. Surda was just coming up within his range of sight, and for some odd reason he felt the cold fingers of dread clench around his heart in a hard, unforgiving fist. He swallowed once, but plunged on. If he turned back now, he would curse himself to the day he died for not going on and seeing if it was or was not his sister being held. Whoever the woman was, she would have his full support in escaping imprisonment. OOC: Open plot, anyone can join. Re: Vengeance And Blood He had been given a simple mission, go and spy on the going ons in Surda. He had been told to stay until he found something to report, no matter how long it took. A simple mission indeed, and one that Rathon Karite gladly took on. He knew that Surda only existed because his King, Glbatorix, allowed it to, and it was being ungrateful by secretly opposing him. Rathon knew it, the King knew it, but he couldn't march on Surda without due cause, which is why he sent Rathon on a recon mission. He had traveled by foot, because it was too far to teleport, and had been traveling for some days now. He was tired but continued on, in spite of thirst and hunger. He drew what energy he needed from the things around him using one of the 6 Reaperic Seals; a Void Seal. "I wonder why I wasn't given a horse at least." He wondered for the umpteenth time since he began. "Oh well, it isn't my place to doubt my King." Rathon shrugged and continued on.
After a few more hours of walking, the Surdan border came into view. "Finally..." Rathon muttered under his breath. Since he could now see the border, he threw up the hood on his cloak, adjusted his straight blade katana at his hip and teleported into Surda in a rush of black fire. Once inside, he quickly made his way to shelter. He spied a house on the edge of a roar that was to his liking. Walking up to it he looked in the window and saw a family eating dinner. He walked up to the door ad knocked. The sound of a chair scrapping the floor was heard and the father opened the door. "Why hello, what ca-" He was cut off as Rathon grabbed his throat and twisted, crushing his adams apple and wind pipe. He stepped into the house and looked at the terrified faces of the family. A mother and two children. He raised his hand and a red Hell Seal appeared. The mother and her children burst into flame, and died. The smell was burned flesh quickly permeated the house, so Rathon made a white Heaven seal for air to blow out the smell. Fortunatly, the ashes of the mother and children were blown away, but the father was still on the floor. He turned and made a brown Earth seal, and the dirt floor of the house absorbed the man. "Hm...this'll do..." Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek relaxed somewhat once he crossed into a city to rest for the night, despite the looming walls that normally felt constricting to him. He stopped by in a tavern and bought one mug of beer, to help him relax after the long day. Theldor shuffled from foot to foot on his shoulder, uneasy about something. The Allatik paused a moment and turned to look at his companion.
What is troubling you, Botsa? He murmured to the eagle, stroking one wing soothingly with the tips of his fingers. His friend ruffled his feathered, yet calmed automatically at his comforting touch. Something isn't right here, Ty. Please let's just rest and then leave? I don't like it here. Not one bit. Muttered Theldor, the bird's keen green eyes glancing from side to side. Tyleek crooned under his breath, instinctive worry rising up in him. One night. I swear we won't be here any longer than that. Vowed the Allatik. The golden eagle huffed once, then settled down unwillingly, preening his shining gold feathers to distract himself. Suddenly it was Tyleek on edge, and he wondered why. He sighed and drank that last of his beer before walking out of the tavern. He had a strong resistance to liquor; it would take several mugs, perhaps ten or more, to even make his head fuzzy. He walked down the street, glancing from side to side occasionally. He stopped abruptly when he felt trouble. He instantly dropped to his knees and pressed his palm to the earth, tilting his head back to listen. A woman and her children were cry...why? He sprang to his feet and darted toward the source of the noise, a somewhat small house at the end of the road. He burst through the door and paused, searching. The mother and here young ones were no where to be seen. He froze when he caught the stale scent of burnt flesh. A snarl ripped from his chest. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon had just taken off his cloak, showing that he had light armor on along with a black long sleeve shirt and black cargo pants. The armor was a set of light shoulders, elbow guards, and knee guards. He heard someone bust threw what was now his front door. He unsheathed his straight blade katana and cautiously walked down stairs. As he asended, he saw a man standing in the doorway. He looked angry, but Rathon played it off. "Hey, why did you just bust down my door? Who are you? Well?" He glared at the man, his ice blue eyes boring into the man.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek didn't answer, only kneeled to the ground and pressed his palm to the earth beneath him. He listened in anguish to the cries of the mother and her two children as they burned, the ominous crunch of the father's wind pipe. He could feel the corpse of the father, somehow absorbed into the dirt; the dust of the woman and little ones. Rage dulled his senses as he glared up at the man, his lavender-blue eyes glittering with enough malice to kill on the spot. If looks could kill, the man would have been long dead by now. He straightened up slowly, his gaze never faltering as he slowly grabbed his stave and brought it around so he was ready to fight. Theldor screeched angrily as he flew into the room, fluttering his wings and perching sideways on a support pole with his talons dug deeply into the wood. Tyleek bared his teeth in a snarl.
"This house was not yours to take, nor was it your right to take the lives of four innocent people. You murdered two children and their mother and father for your own comfort!" He roared, nearly shaking with sudden rage. The male Allatik set his feet in a defensive stance, ready to fight in honor of the dead family. Unbidden memories came to him of his own parents....watching as they were murdered right before his eyes. He swallowed hard, pushing the images away. His lavender-blue eyes gleamed anew with hatred. "Get out of this home before I crush your bones into dust, so you can join the lives you took without mercy." He managed to spit out between clenched teeth. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon watched the man put his hand to the ground and then suddenly become angry. "How did he know?" Rathon wondered to himself. He looked the man over, calculating the possibilities. "He couldd have used a spell...he could be an elf....or he could be something else entirely." Rathon figured that since he didn't know much about the man or his fighting capabilities, he should keep his distance. When Tyleek ordered him to leave, he laughed, a cold laugh; a murder's laugh. "Why should I leave my home? And the father, children, and mother you speak of were not my doing. This house was taken by soldier not too long ago but was then abandoned the same day. I merely stumbled upon it by chance. Now, if you would kindly calm down and lower your weapon?" Rathon kept his tone calm and soothing, trying to convince Tyleek that he wasn't the enemy here. Even though his voice was calm, his eyes remained cold, unsettlingly cold, cold that could only come from seeing Galbatorix's madness first hand. He waited for Tyleek to comply or fight, he was ready either way.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek nearly shook with rage as the man attempted to lie. His lavender-blue eyes slashed as he took two careful steps forward; in those two steps was the gracefulness, agility, and deadliness of a very powerful and well trained warrior.
"You spit venomous lies, fiend. The earth reveals the pure truth. I know you murdered this family. I can even tell you how." He snarled, raising his stave horizontally to chest level. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon grinned when Tyleek showed that he knew he was lieing. He silently watched as he stepped forward. He took notice of his movements. It was clear that Tyleek was a warrior, and was very strong, but so was Rathon. "Well since you know my secret, then yes...I killed them. I crushed the man's throat and burned the mother and children to ashes. It was rather pleasant to watch, but short lived" He was testing how angry he could make Tyleek before his restraint broke. He stepped down one step, 5 more below him. "But the question is,what are you going to do about it?" He asked mockingly, a sly grin spread across his face and his eyes glinted with sinister delight.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek clenched his jaw so hard it hurt, his lavender-blue eyes gleaming with barely restrained outrage. He slowly lowered into a crouch for more stability, his gaze never leaving the burning ice blue ones of the man. Theldor screeched angrily in protest, his feathers shivering as the large golden eagle tried to remain still. The male Allatik bared his teeth in a snarl.
"I have patiently hunted a murderer for seventeen years. Do not think your petty taunting will rile me." He snapped, taking two more steps forward. He was just close enough to spring onto the first stair...close enough for him, anyway. "Do about it? I can kill you with a flick of my wrist if I so wish. But unlike you, I'm not a cold-blooded killer. If you leave this house right now, I will let you go and not bother you again, as long as you kept the peace in this town. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon look up and laughed, a laugh that had sent a chill up more than one man's spine. He looked dead at Tyleek, his face suddenly serious. "Your threats affect me as much as my taunting affects you. You must not know who you're dealing with to assume that you can make me face pain, or to assume that you could kill me with a mire flick of your wrist. I am King Galbatorix's personal assassin, I answer only to him. That along should be enough to make you turn tail and run, but just to be sure, hear this: get out now or you will meet the same fate as the women and children that once resided here." He raised his hand and a glowing red seal appeared beneath Tyleek and the air in the room began to get warmer. He stared at Tyleek with his ice cold eyes, waiting for an answer.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek looked down at the strange mark below him. He didn't wait to see what it was; he acted. His legs and torso clenched, gathering strength. He sprang forward fluidly, flying over the mans head. He landed three steps above him and instantly attacked. He swept his stave at the mans feet, knocking him off balance. He quickly spun his weapon and thwacked the man in the back, sending him skittering across the floor to rest exactly where Tyleek had been a few seconds ago. His lavender-blue eyes regarded him coldly.
"Assassin or no, I am not to be underestimated." He said sharply, as if chastising a student. He made an idle motion with his fingers. Globs of earth came up and engulfed the mans hands, feet, and torso. "I assume you need your hands to use your magic? I wonder what would happen if I were to remove them..." He wondered, as if talking about the weather. His fist clenched, and the earth solidified, becoming hard and constricting, slowly crushing... _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon hadn't expected the man to attack, but that didn't mean he was going to let him hit him. Just as Tyleek jumped over his head, Rathon endded the Hell Seal and made a small Heaven Seal. It bent the light around in the air to make it seem as though he was still there. At the same time with the same seal, he compacted the air in the light into nearly solid mass, making a 'clone' of himself. All the while he teleported to the top floor. He heard the man speak about removing his hands and wondered what he was babbling about. He soon heard the 'clone' screaming, which was just the wind being squeezed out of it's magical bounds. Rathon walked quickly down the stairs until he was directly behind the man, silent as air. He leaned in right next to the man's ear ans whispered, "boo.." He touched the man's back and formed a Hell Seal, it imprinting onto the man's tunic where it began to burn with black fire. Rathon back up from the blaze, lest he get burned himself.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek's ears pricked as he felt tiny, soft vibrations under his feet. With his sensitivity to nature and earth, it was almost as normal as breathing. He didn't move until he felt the heat on his back, then calmly removed his tunic; it was hindering his movements anyway. He tossed it aside and turned to look at the man, stave still clenched in one fist. The muscles on his abdomen and chest rippled as he moved, the milky-white scar glowing softly in the light His lavender-blue eyes gleamed with dangerous anger, yet more disturbing was the silent calm that spoke volumes. He did not move, except for the breathing that shifted his torso so slightly. He tilted his head to the side, his expression guarded. He'd seen magic like that once before.
'Is your name....Rathon Hinote Karite?" He asked softly, his mind flashing back to when he'd met Johdzsia, Cy Ara, Siberia, and Ka in the desert. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon watched the man take off his tunic, showing his muscular body underneath. Thoughts of how he could take apart such a body muscle by muscle flashed threwhis mind, but he quickly discarded them. He saw the hate and anger in the man's eyes and was surprised to hear a calm voice. He grinned when the man asked if Rathon was his name. "So, you've heard of me? And yet you still choose to fight me, is it because you want to die?" It was a rhetorical question. Rathon assumed that the man knew his name because of what he had done since serving Galbatorix, as there was a time or two when someone had heard his name and Rathon not be able to catch them, but that was rare. He waited for an answer, assuming he already knew it.

Re: Vengeance And Blood For the first time in years, Rathon face went pale at the mention of his brother. "No, he couldn't be alive, not after 6 years. I was told he was dead, they showed me his body..." He was unnerved that this man claimed to know his brother, and yet Rathon knew his brother to be dead. He composed himself and glared at the man. "You lie. My brother is dead. He died long ago, I've seen his body! Now, tell me how you know his name before I kill you and eat your bird friend for lunch." He growled, done playing around.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek stayed calm as Rathon threatened him and Theldor. He raised his hand, and behind him rose two blocks of earth. They compressed into two statues, colors appearing from within the bland dirt. One was of an averagely tall man with short spiky black hair and gentle ruby eyes, with a small scar along one side of his face. He stared at the statues, no longer in the room with Tyleek, but 6 years prior, crossing the Hadarac, the day he was taking and Ka was killed. He shook his head. "No, no you're lying to me. This is some trick... my brother is dead. You...you must have gotten into my mind without me realizing it and gleaned what he looked like." He refused to believe that his brother lived, he had been dead for 6 years. Suddenly, a fury over took Rathon. How dare this stranger speak to him of his dead brother and try to give him false hope that he lived. A murderous rage filled him. He gripped his sword and clenched his fist. He lashed out with his sword at blinding speed at Tyleek's stomach. "I'LL KILL YOU!" he shouted, his rage nearly taking over.

"Your brother is alive, Rathon. He is the one that believes you to be dead." He said softly. He summoned the memories of his time in the desert, showing the images of Ka, Jia, Cy Ara, and Siberia. As he gasp for breath, Tyleek showed him his memory, which caused Rathon to stop breathing. "No..." His voice was barley above a whisper. "No...you've...you've done something. Altered it somehow. NO! Just shut up...shut up shut up shut up!" By the end he was yelling. A roar broke from his throat as he slashed at Tyleek once, twice, three times. He wasn't aiming any more, he was a mad man.

It seemed so simple to Rathon; Galbatorix was the good guy, everyone else was bad. When Tyleek mentioned what Reapers could do he glared at him, his mind clearing for the moment. "No, Reapers no not pass into the void of Death like other souls. No one knows what happens to us when we die, only that we can not be brought back." His look was stern. He wavered again presented the idea that Galbatorix could have deceived him, or not known what he was doing. "No, that's not possible. Galbatorix is great and all knowing, he would only show me if he was sure." He spoke with affliction, he knew that he was right, wasn't he? His mind shook for a moment, what if his brother was alive, Galbatorix was evil, and Tyleek spoke the truth? Suddenly it felt as if a white hot brand was placed behind his eyes and someone was striking his head with a hammer. He fell to his knees gripping his head in pain, but not saying anything. His thoughts of Galbatorix vanished and where replaced with ones of the King being a saintly figure.

Control, maybe? But how? He seemed willing enough to serve the mad king, so he doubted that Rathon even knew what was happening, if it was even true. He waited tensely for Rathon to come back to his senses, ready to block or dodge an attack if necessary.

He slowly rose to his feet and looked at Tyleek, his eyes blank as if he weren't really there. "King Galbatorix is the greatest man that has ever lived. Any who speak badly of him should die!" Although his eyes betrayed no emotion, his voice sounded unnaturally, almost chillingly, cheery. At the word 'die' Rathon stabbed at Tyleek's shoulder with greater speed, strength and precision than he had displayed before.

His lavender-blue eyes narrowed to slits, focused on the blank, glassy stare of Rathon's. Definitely controlled, somehow. He quickly glanced up to the heavens, his expression apologetic.
Please forgive me when we meet next time, Ka. he muttered in his head. The Allatik stood ready, half crouched. He had a plan. Sort of, anyway. "Galbatorix is a murderer. He sent Shruikan out to kill your family, because your powers were a threat. Your mother, father, and even yourself shielded Ka from harm, hiding him nearby so he would survive. Your brother is convinced that you are dead, despite his companion insisting otherwise." he growled, knowing he spoke the truth. His eyes flicked back to life as he remembered placing Ka between the rocks to hide him from the black dragon. He remembered watching his mother and father get torn to shreds as he was carted away by slavers. He swayed where he stood, his eyes flicking in and out of focus. "I..I remember that day. Ka should have survived. He did, Shruikan fly off without checking where I had hidden Ka. But then why-" He was cut off as the pain in his mind returned. He dropped to the floor, his sword clanging to the ground. He gripped his head and heard voices, muttering the Galbatorix was good. "Get...get out of my head..." his voice was barley a whisper. He fell over on his side, still clutching his head as the voices continued. "Get out...get out of my head." He said louder. Around him he saw darkness, pure and unwavering. He heard only the voices. Soon, he only thought what they said and the pain stopped. He lay on the floor panting for breath, he no longer had the strength to get up.

I can't tell you what it is because of things I have said with words of power. I would like to believe Ka is alive but I can't, I literally can't." He sounded sad, and his eye reflected this. He longed to see hid brother again, but he knew he never could as long as the spell weaved by the King was over him. "What was done to me is why I am the way I am. It leaves me very little free will because of what it makes me think, which is why I killed this family in cold blood. Right now it is telling me to kill you with a Death Seal, which would bring instant death, but I am resisting the urge to do so." His voice was still sad, but he was warning Tyleek of what could happen at any moment should his will power fail.

Since I am to say he is dead, and he is, I don't know what would happen to me should I see him living." He stood and looked at Tyleek. "The spell is resuming it's hold on me. I can tell you are a good person and normally I would not try and harm you, but I can't be held responsible for what I will do once the spell take hold again." He stepped away from Tyleek, his eyes changing from sad but kind to cold and murderous. "Now, I'll give you one last chance. Get out or perish.." His voice was cold once again.

Once he was gone, and Ratohn knew he was not coming back, he sat down on the stairs with his head in his hands. His thoughts where whirling, switching between what the spell told him to think and the idea that his brother was alive. He didn't sleep that night.

At dawn, the male Allatik gave up the idea of rest and decided to explore the town. He wandered from vendor to vendor, looking through the countless merchandise that covered each table. He saw several interesting figurines of an eagle, but none of them were of a golden eagle. He sighed and continued on, walking aimlessly down the street. He was bored, and restless, though he didn't exactly know why.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Some time during the night, he had been contacted by one of Galbatorix's magicians. He had been given new orders, he was to find and assassinate one of the Surdan lesser nobles, as well as anyone he was with. His name was Jiran Loktov, and was one of the people in change of maintaining the Surdan treasury. Rathon set out early that morning with his new mission.He stopped by a local tavern, asking questions to a few people there. Finding no leads, he decided to head into the main part of town to see if anyone was talking about him. Along the way, he began tihnking about his mission. "...and anyone he is with. That was what he said. I hope I don't find him with his family...I don't want to go threw that again." He thought to himself as he walked around. He walked past several shops, but ignored them all. he didn't notice Tyleek as he past by, he was too absorbed in other peoples conversations and his own thoughts.

The male Allatik lanced about discreetly, quickly finding the Reaper walking a few paces ahead. He was unsure whether to follow the man or not, then decided it would be best for the whole town if he did. He tailed Rathon carefully, making sure to always keep several yards of distance between them.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon felt something on his wrist begin to warm up. It was a warning seal, one that old him if he was being tailed. He didn't turn around[ but instead he turned down an ally and teleported to the top of one of the buildings on either side of the ally. He looked over the edge to see who was foolish enough to try and tail him. He was surprised to see Tyleek. He continued to watch, wondering what the man would do when he saw that he had disappeared.

He paused beside a building and leaned against the hard stone, crossing his arms over his bare chest. He didn't have an extra tunic, after the other had been burned. He could see wary glances being shot his way already. Honestly, he didn't care. But if he wanted to stay in town, he would need to buy one. Soon.

He figured he should get away from the man if he was to continue his mission, so he jumped from building to building until he was 2 building over from Tyleek and jumped back onto the ground. "He had better not follow me again..." He thought to himself and continued on.

He managed to pick up snipets of conversation that Jiran lived in the eastern part of the town so he headed in that general direction. He had been given a general description of the man: shot, portly, balding, richy cloths. He started looking around for anyone that fit the description.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon rounded the corner of a house and saw a man that fit the description of Jiran. The man was walking toward a house that Rathon presumed to be his own. He quickened his pace. He managed to catch Jiran just before he went in his door; Rathon saw 2 children, one boy and one girl, a mother, and a baby threw the window. "Are you by chance Jiran Loktov?" Rathon asked pleasantly. Jiran turned and looked at Rathon. "Why yes, I am...but who are you?" He asked puzzled. "I am someone with valuable information. could we speak somewhere, other than here?" Rathon didn't want to end up killing another family. Jiran looked at him and thought before replying. "Yes...my office back at the Court House. Please, follow me." Jiran motioned for him to follow and they headed off to the Court House, but as they left Rathon glanced around. He thought he saw a golden eagle in the sky, but played it off as a trick of the light.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ratohn kept glancing back as he followed Jiran to the Court house. He saw the eagle, and noticed it was closer than before. "Where have I seen that bird before?" He asked himself, then a flash came to him. It was that bird that had followed the man that had come into his house around. He still didn't know the man's name, nor did he care. He made a motion behind his back and a seal formed around the bird, and a small jolt of electricity shot threw it. It wasn't enough for it to be seriously harmed, but was just enough to hopefully cause muscle cramps and confusion in the bird, as he had a funny feeling that the man couldn't be far behind it.

He screeched angrily, contemplating whether he should dive down. He decided against it, only followed the Reaper on. He flew a little lower, keeping an eye on things.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon looked back and, to his annoyance, saw the bird still flying behind them. He had been about to try again when Jiran said they had reached the court house. It was simple building, if old and rotting in places. It was 3 stories high and made of brown wood and unlike the other buildings he had seen thus far it had a floor. He followed Jiran back to his office. IT seemed that he had been about to speak, but Rathon cut him off. "Shut up...I was sent to kill you." He raised his hand. "I'm sorry..." A seal formed on the mans head and constricted, crushing it with more force than necessary so he hadn't felt it. Rathon turned and left, closing the door behind him, and left the court house. he headed back toward his house.

He thought for a moment about not going to the ally and just teleporting straight home, but he figured that he should at least try to gather some information. He slowly walked toward the ally where Tyleek was. He stopped and turned at the far end, he saw Tyleek and Theldor at the other end and slowly made his way to them. He stopped a few paces from them. "Your bird didn't feel like telling me a few things that I would like to know. Why have you been following me and how are you able to track me.?" He kept his hands inside his cloak, one on his sword and one ready to form a seal, just in case.

"I was searching for my sister when I came through here, and I find you causing a ruckus. Why do you think I'm following you?" he asked dryly, finally opening his lavender-blue eyes to gaze at Rathon in amusement. He pursed his lips and stared at the opposite wall curiously, as if it were the most important thing in the world. It was made of earth, so it might have been. "As for how I can track you...How to explain it." he paused and shook his head with a sigh. He pushed against the wall so he stood on his own two feet. "Earth can carry small vibrations of footsteps, heart rate, breathing, and other things that most people don't even know about. My race, the Allatik's, are closely bonded to the land, and can control one element, and are given one animal as a 'Guardian'. My element is Earth. Theldor is my guardian." he said, shrugging lightly. He found no harm in telling some of his heritage. It was nothing that Galbatorix could use against him. He took a few steps forward so he stood a yard and a half in front of Rathon. A small lop-sided smile quirked at his mouth. "Your heart rate is two beats faster than normal, which means your curious and perhaps a little frustrated." he said, then his eyes narrowed. "I've answered your questions. My turn now. Starting with why you're here. And don't think to lie; your body has a physical reaction to telling a lie, and I can feel it." he said, then glanced down to his hand sword, hidden beneath his cloak. "You can release your sword, Rathon. I won't harm you as long as we have truce. As his original mission dictated, he was to look for anything interesting in Surda, and a new race of people was defiantly something interesting. As he listened he made notes. "Allatiks. Earth vibrations. Bonded to an element. Guardian animals." He would tell Galbatorix what he had learned once he returned. When Tyleek commented on his heart rate, it surprised him at first, then he slowed his breathing and forced his heart to slow as well. It was true he was frustrated; he wanted to hurry and get back so he could give his King his report. He shifted a bit when Tyleek questioned as to why he was here. "Well, if you must know, I was sent to Surda on a recon mission to see what was going on and to report anything interesting. While I was here, I was given the mission to assassinate one of the lower Royals in charge of the Surdan Treasury." He relaxed his grip on his sword but didn't remove it, nor did he lower his other hand, which was ready to make a seal. He grinned at Tyleek and Theldor, "I would like to thank you both for making my mission successful. Until I met with you two, I had nothing to report. But I'm sure Galbatorix will enjoy hearing of a new race, just as he enjoyed hearing of the Reapers. Since you said he had spoke to Ka, I'm sure you know what happened when the King found out about our race. What do you tihnk will happenen once he finds out about yours?" It wasn't meant as a threat, it was merely a hypothetical question. Rathon raised an eye brow at them, still grinning.

"You honestly think my race doesn't know the threat of extinction?" he said dryly. His expression turned serious in a moment as he stalked closer to Rathon until barely a foot separated their bodies. He moved no closer, though he leaned forward a bit. His lavender-blue eyes were narrowed to slits. "Seventeen years ago, I watched my parents be murdered. Along with their Guardians. I was three years old, and I watched as their throats were slashed and their blood soaked the ground like a sick crimson river. They were slaughtered like meat, by a man that hates my kind. No one knew specifically why." said the Allatik, his tone deadly calm. Yet behind the calm was a terrible tempest that brewed just at the surface of his eyes. "I am one of two that are known to remain. So tell your wonderful master of my dying Kin. It will make no difference, because its already happening. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon didn't move when Tyleek stalked closer and told his story. It was very close to them same as his own; a story of loss for no reason. As he finished Rathon noted that he seemed to withhold much of his emotions. Rathon kept his grin and spoke slowly, "I hadn't meant to offend you. It had merely been a circumstantial question; a 'what if' question. I never said I was going to tell him." He took a step back. "As you seem to forget, the same can be said of my race as well." He looked up at the sky, and grunted to himself. "As much as I would love to continue this conversation, if I don't report to Galbatorix soon he may grow irritated with me. So long for now, Tyleek." He said, before he disappeared in a puff of black smoke.
He appeared back at his house a moment later. He sighed, debating whether or not to tell Galbatorix of Tyleek. He decided he would, but he would down size the importance. He slowly walked up to his room and wrote his report. Once finished, it detailed the successful assassination of the Treasury Royal, said that there was nothing special happening in Surda right now, and gave a brief outline of Tyleek, refering to him as "a/the man". Rathon said that the man had power over earth, but it was possible that it was merely silent spells being cast. He also made mention that the man called himself an Allatik, but countered it by saying that that could just be the mane of a magician group he was with. Rathon expected to be questioned as to why he hadn't killed the man, so he added as a note: "Not much of a threat to anyone." at the end. He rolled the report up and transported it to Uru'Baen using a simple void seal. The Allatik found a soft patch of earth in an alley and laid down on his side. Theldor hopped off his shoulder and let Tyleek pull him close to his chest, understanding that his companion was needing comfort.

Re: Vengeance And Blood The next morning, Rathon woke up late. He had been tired from the events of the day before, and had no real reason to get up early. He slowly got out of bed, did his morning business, and as he was leaving, he noticed a scroll on the table in the kitchen addressed to him. He walked over to it and read it. It was a confirmation that they had received his report, and a new mission before he left Surda. Upon reading his mission, he crumpled up the scroll an went back up to his room. He put on his light armor, a right shoulder, knees, elbows, and gauntlets. He tied his chain blade to his back, his katana to his hip and threw on his black traveling cloak to hide it all. Finally, with a dead serious look on his face, he left to complete his mission, to assassinate the unknown 'Allatik' and his 'Guardian' before they can become a problem.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek woke slowly, a first that he was trying to grow out of. He pressed his palm to the ground, listening intensely. A set of footsteps was getting closer, varying in beat and weight. He shook his head and stood, grinning. He climbed up the outside of a wall, settling in an open window two stories high. He leaned against the left side of the frame, watching silently as a figure in black came around the corner. He waited until it was almost directly beneath him before he spoke up.
"Trying to hide your footsteps only makes you more noticeable." he said, then grinned. It disappeared when the Allatik noticed the man was more heavily armed than yesterday. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon stopped when he heard Tyleek's voice above him. He looked up, his eyes hidden under the lip of his hood. Under his cloak he untied his chain sword. In a flurry of motion he swept his cloak aside and launched his chain blade at Tyleek, aiming for his chest.

Bleh, never heard of it. IC: Tyleek moved back instantly as soon as he felt Rathon shift. The chain blade missed him by mere inches. The next moment his stave was free and he had knocked the weapon aside. Theldor took to the skies, circling above, sending blasts of wind with enough force to drive the Reaper to his knees. The Allatik jumped down, and as his feet touched the ground, the square of earth beneath Rathon shot up, carrying the man with it. Tyleek's arm raised, his hand curled in harshly like talons. Re: Vengeance And Blood As soon as he saw he had missed, Rathon used the same simple seals he had when he and Tyleek first met to make a clone of himself. He himself had teleported up and above Theldor. He wanted to take out the bird first so then it would be an even fight. He replaced his chain blade on his back and unsheathed his sword. He free fell directly above Theldor and once he was within striking distance he swung.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Theldor's keen ears heard the rush of air above him and spun, opening his beak to release a powerful blast of wind. He was a second too late. The tip of the blade sliced across his breast, from the left side of his neck to just below his right wing. The eagle shrieked and swooped away, crimson blood soaking his golden feathers and dripping to the ground far under him. He landed unsteadily on a building top, staggering before falling onto his side. His vision retreated until he only saw a small point of light as his conscious threatened to leave him. He barely heard a cry of pain and outrage. Moments later, tender hands were stroking his side and wing.
- - - - - - - - - - Tyleek stumbled as his companion was injured. His hand flew to his chest, feeling the curved line in his own flesh. Though no blood fell from the wound, the pain of it nearly overwhelmed him. An instinctive cry of pain and anger tore from his throat, and he leapt up to his Guardian. He crouched beside the crumpled figure, tenderly stroking the eagle. He would survive, but he was out of the fight. The Allatik stood and spun, penetrating Rathon with a glare of pure hatred. "Wrong move." he snarled, his livid lavender-blue eyes glittering with malice. The Reaper had succeeded in angering him beyond his control. Tyleek lifted himself up on a platform of earth, hovering in the air, staring at Rathon with deadly rage. "You wanted to anger me? Well, you have. Now you will die." he howled, and flung spears of stone at the Reaper. He no longer cared that Rathon had a conscious or not, that Ka was his brother, or any of that. He had injured Theldor. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon remained impassive as he fell the rest of the way to the ground. He looked to his blade and saw the crimson blood of Theldor. His head snapped up when he heard Tyleek above him. His words fell on deaf ears as Rathon didn't care how angry Tyleek was, he had a mission and he intended to carry it out. He raised his hand and blocked the spears dead in their tracks with an earth seal. He then twitched his fingers and the seal changed into a hell seal. Suddenly, he appeared behind Tyleek. "I've been ordered to kill you..." He said in a low voice, and unleashed a torrent of fire at Tyleek.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek bared his teeth and clenched his hand. Two largish balls of stone broke apart from the buildings beside them and softened. They joined as one, forming a huge half-circle-like shield. The fire slammed into it, and instantly the stone closed in around it, swallowing the flames and snuffing them out. The shield separated into two balls again, hovering at his side. He hadn't even turned around to face Rathon. Now he did. His eyes were nearly aflame with rage, his entire body shuddering with emotion. The Reaper was too close to Theldor for his liking. Much too close. Tyleek raised an arm his hand clenched in a fist, and flashed his fingers out. One of the balls hovering beside him shot forward, turning into a choking dust that would suffocate the Reaper if too much of it was breathed into the lungs. He sent the other ball forward just behind the dust, tiny and razor sharp little projectiles that could pierce dragonhide. He was confident that the dust would hide the projectiles until it was too late.
"Like I give a damn about your orders. If I go down, your coming with me." he hissed venomously, gripping his stave tighter. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon's cold and calculating side was begining to surface. He took in everything around him, what Tyleek was doing, how he was reacting, his emotions. He planned on using all of this against him. Rathon mentally scoffed at the cloud of dust and raised a hand, forming a earth seal, stopping the dust and making it fall to the ground, only to reveal the storm of stones behind it. He didn't have time to make another seal, so he dropped down as low as he could. Most of the volley missed him, but on managed to slice across his stomach. A searing pain shot threw him, but he didn't let it show. He slowly stood back up and faced Tyleek, noting the hot rage in his eyes. He looked where Tyleek was and noticed he was protecting Theldor. A grim idea came to Rathon. He raised his raised to Tyleek like a claw and twisted it. Although rather than attacking him, a red hell seal formed under Theldor. From it shot bars of fire that encased the bird in a flaming cage. The fire wouldn't burn Theldor as long as Rathon held it in check. He uttered 2 simple words to Tyleek, but these words carried a heavy weight. "Stand down..." His voice was low and unmerciful, that of a killer.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Tyleek didn't exactly understand what Rathon was doing until he felt a sharp pain in his chest. His hand flew up to his heart, his mouth gaping wide as he tried to breath. Freedom was everything to a bird, and being caged was almost worse than death. Even nearly unconscious, Theldor felt the constrictions and responded to them, which in turn affected the male Allatik. Tyleek fell to his knees, his stave clattering to the ground. He couldn't think, couldn't feel. Nothing mattered but the suffocation that consumed him from the inside. He fell onto his back, his spine arching as he tried to escape the smothering sensation. Theldor squeaked softly, barely even conscious. The Allatik turned his eyes to his guardian; the eagle was trying to stand, but couldn't due to the fiery bars.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon grinned inwardly with sick satisfaction, watching Tyleek writhe on the ground. He kept his hand up, which kept the bars in place and kept the fire from burning Theldor. He walked closer to Tyleek. "I can't do that...I told you that I have orders to kill you, and I can not disobey." He raised his other hand and formed a heaven seal. It hovered between Tyleek and Rathon, crackling with electricity. "Die..." Lightning struck Tyleek in the chest, stopping his heart, and exited his back. It hit the ground under him and snapped, sending out a shock wave, restarting his heart. This took place within the span of a second. Rathon lowered both of his hands , setting Theldor free. "There, my mission is complete."

Okay, thanks. IC: Tyleek could do nothing but watch as the lightning came for him. It seemed to move in slow motion, into his chest, making him stiffen in pain. Darkness engulfed him. An eternity later, light flooded back into his conscious, dazzlingly bright, blinding him. His eyes flew open and he was thrown into a massive coughing fit. He turned onto his belly and instantly reached for his companion. The choking suffocation had vanished, leaving them both severely weakened. His fingers brushed soft feathers, warm and pleasant. He pulled the golden eagle to his chest, cradling Theldor close. He buried his face in the feathers, breathing in the familiar scent of the Guardian. He felt something sticky fall onto his hand, and he pulled away to see a drop of blood. He tenderly laid the bird on the ground and inspected the wound. Leave off Ty, I won't die this minute. griped the eagle, huffing gently. The Allatik growled in his throat. Let me at least stop the bleeding. he muttered in response, ignoring Theldor's weak struggles. He placed his finger at the tip of the wound, tipping his head back just a bit with his eyes closed. He ran the pad of his finger down the length of the injury, stopping the crimson blood in its tracks. The tear was not sealed, simply cleaned. Once finished, he tenderly gathered the eagle into his arms and stood slowly, his legs shaking from fatigue and weakness. "I would thank you, but I'm not sure if those are the right words for this situation." he rasped, his voice hoarse from the constricting bands that had tightened around his heart a few moments before. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon stood and watched as Tyleek died, revived, and went for his partner. He stayed silent as he watched Tyleek nurse Theldor. It was difficult to tell what Tyleek was saying as his voice was raspy, but Rathon managed. "Well I think thank you is appropriate, seeing as I just saved you from being hunted by Galbatorix. When I get back, he will examine my memory and see me attack Theldor, our fight, and then me killing you with the lightning. What he won't see is everything after that, so he will think you are dead." Rathon shifted from one foot to the other, noting how shaky Tyleek looked. "If I were you, I would find a place to rest."

It was Tyleek, an Allatik friend of hers. She snorted and flew lower, curious as to what he was doing here. She was alarmed to feel him weakened, and Theldor in no better condition. She growled softly and banked down, fearing no attack. Surdans, or at least most of them, were friendly toward the plight of dragons. Ka, can you feel that? Tyleek is down there, and not in a very good state. I think he's with someone, but I don't recognize who it is. He might be in trouble. she said worriedly. She stilled her wings and floated down to land on top of a building, The stone creaked but held her weight, though barely. She was a few roof tops from Tyleek. Her eyes focused on the Allatik, then widened in astonishment. Her bottom jaw dropped open in bewilderment. She tried to say something to her Rider, to warn him, anything, but her mental voice was too shocked to even croak. - - - - - - - - - - Tyleek swayed in place, exhaustion nearly overwhelming him. His vision narrowed to a single point, and that point happened to land on a gold-amethyst dragoness a few buildings behind the Reaper. His eyes widened, but he was speechless. He shifted Theldor to one arm, then raised the other, to point a single finger at the dragoness. "Turn around, Rathon. Then perhaps you can believe me." he rasped, then turned and jumped down off the roof. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka had been in the midst of daydreaming as the wind blew threw his hair when Jia said she felt Tyleek. He too felt the Allatic, and his companion, and another person. The third was strange to him, but not unfamilier. Like a hazy memory. "This can't be good..." He said, preparing for a fight. Once Jia landed he quickly dismounted and drew hsi sword. "Hey, who ever you are! Turn and face me!"

He didn't turn as the minds got closer, but became more rigid.He broke out into a cold sweat as he felt his brothers mind touch his own. A mix of emotions washed threw him, but were stifled by Galbatorix's enchantments. He kept his hood up and turned to face the dragon and his brother. "I have no quarrel with you Dragon and Rider, so leave now...lest you taste my blade." He tensed, hoping that they would take a hint and fly off, but he assumed they wouldn't. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ka glared at the man before him. Something seemed familier about him, but he had no idea where he had seen this man before. "Jia, what should we do? It's obvious he is the one that attacked Tyleek, but I can tell that he is very strong..." She could see through the darkness of the man's robe to the face underneath. Her mind was still reeling, but what she saw had to be true. You've messed with some friends of mine. That doesn't set well with me. So I'd say I have a quarrel with you. she snapped angrily. She reached her consciousness back to her Rider. He's no stronger than you are, Ka. she whispered back with their private link to each other. Her gold-amethyst scales lifted from her neck as she hissed threateningly. Why use your blade, friend, when you can just use your Seals. But those would do no better against me. I have personal training in evading them. she said, as if talking about the weather. Her tail waved in Ka's direction at her mention of training.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka brushed away Jia's tug at his mind, instead he walked closer to the man. "Maybe not...but he is still dangerous." Ka said to her warningly. As Ka walked forward to Jia's side, the feeling that he knew this man continued to get stronger. He couldn't put his finger on it, and it was annoying. "Tell me, do you have a name?" Ka asked, curious.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rathon didn't move when Jia leaped at him, he simply stared at her in defiance from under his hood. "As true as this may be, I don't think you want to fight me, regardless of what ever training you think you have." Rathon tried his best to not look at Ka, but it was difficult. He twitched when Ka asked for his name. "That, is information that you do not need to know..." Suddenly he jumped backwards a few feet, putting distance between himself and the pair infront of him. He thought quickly of what he could do to escape them, but nothing came to him. A fight seemed inevitable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ka didn't like that the man refused to give his name, but he had expected it. "Jia, calm down...I can't help but get a bad feeling form him, as if there is more to him that what we see. Don't go rushing in on him." Ka warned her. I can see into his hood. As soon as you do, you'll know who he is. she said, and her tone was filled with melancholy. Meanwhile, she bared her fangs at the man. Her teal-aquamarine eyes drilled into him. She contacted the man privately, her mind seething with subdued anger. I know who you are. If you hurt Ka anymore than he already has been, so help me I will tear you to shreds myself. she growled threateningly, taking extra care to shield her words from her Rider.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka sighed and accepted, seeing the man threw her eyes. What he saw made him go numb. He couldn't speak, couldn't think, couldn't move. his whole body had gone numb. It took him a while, and much will power to even speak, but when he did his voice was barley a whisper. "Rath...is that you? Is...is it really you?" disbelief filled Ka's voice as he stared at the man.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rathon growled to himself. "Idiot dragon! Did it ever occur to you that Ka would be better off not knowing who I was?! I can't be held responsible for what I do any more, thanks to you." Rathon's tone to Jia was harsh and cold. Rathon knew that Ka was dead, and yet he was standing in front of him now. The only thing that kept that part of the spell,, that part that forced Rathon to believe Ka was dead, from activating up to that point was that Ka didn't know who he was so Rathon could always deny that it was Ka who he was looking at. Now that Ka knew, there was no doubting that it was Ka. He spoke softly to Ka, the exact opposite as he had spoken to Jia. "Yes brother...it is me. I've missed you." As he spoke he lowered his hood so Ka could see him clearly. "It is me...and I am sorry." Rathon said, raising a hand, forming a Hell Seal. "I'm sorry, but you are dead." His mind snapped, he no longer had control. His one goal was to prove the voices in his head right, to prove that Ka was dead. He unleashed the seal, sending a torrent of fire at Jia and Ka. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pure joy swept threw Ka when Rathon confirmed that it was indeed him. Although joy was replaced with confusion when Rathon apologized. "Sorry? Sorry for wha-" He cut short when he saw the Hell Seal; confusion was replaced with fear. He dove to avoid the flame, but quickly scrambled up. "Brother?! Do you consider that better off? She jumped out of the way of the fire, concern for Ka leaping to the forefront of her mind. She merged her mind with his, making her eyes glow brightly so she could see the truth. She showed it to her Rider. He is a willing servant of Galbatorix, controlled by some spell. she squinted as she tried to distinguish the rest. I can't see much more than that, other than he thought you were dead and he isn't willingly attacking you right now. I think Galby might have told him that your dead, which sealed some sort of enchantment over him. she said quickly. At the end of her sentence, she leapt toward Rathon. Brother or not, he had attacked her Rider, and that was a serious sore spot for her. She landed in front of him and toppled him over, watchful for apparitions he might make to confuse her. She pinned him down under her paw, locking his arms down so it would be more difficult for him to make a Seal. She crouched over him, her talons constricting the earth under him. She hissed, her tongue flicking out. I don't care why, but be careful about attacking my Rider. I will protect him, whether your his brother or not. she growled. She went no further, only sat there with her tail waving listlessly back and forth, wings fluttering softly.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked threw Jia's eye and saw the truth as she did, but it was still difficult to accept, but he knew that he must. He watched Jia jump and pin Rathon to the ground. He wordlessly walked over to him and looked down at his brother. "You are no longer my brother...you are a child of the black-alter, and I will have nothing to do with you." Ka wasn't sure if Jia would realize what he had just done, but he knew Rathon would.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rathon was caught of guard by Jia suddenly jumped him and pinning him to the ground. He was too far gone to respond to Jia at this point. All he could do was squirm and thrash around trying to get out from under Jia's paw. He froze when he saw Ka's shadow fall over him. His eye grew wide as Ka said the single most devastating thing one Reaper can say to another. Ka had just disowned him as his brother, and cursed him by saying he was a child of the black alter. He disappeared from under Jia's paw in a puff of smoke, and reappeared high above them, standing on air. A single tear rolled down his cheek as he looked down at his used-to-be-brother and his dragon. "Kale Hinote Karite and dragon companion, you both have just gain a mortal enemy. Look in fear, as you see one of the 3 sides of this enemy!" As he spoke his voice changed and became deeper, more demonic. His skin became black as coal, deep red horns spiraled from his skull, and his eyes became glowing embers. "Flesh of the cursed, bones of the dead, Demonic Reaper..." As he finished the transformation, 4 black leathery wings erupted from his back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ka looked on as Rathon transformed. Very few Reapers could turn into a Demonic Reaper, and those that could had all been Kings of their homeland. "Jia, we must flee....Rathon is gone, lost in his own mind. I fear i may have pushed his mental limit. Qucikly, we must get away!" Even his mental voice shook with fear. Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia paled when she heard her Rider speak, the golden color leeching slowly from the scales of her face. She knew quite well what he'd said. She paled further when Rathon teleported away from her and transformed into something truly demonic. But she did not feel fear. No, she felt something much stronger. Rage. Color flooded back into her scales, but it only enhanced her menacing appearance. She refused to move, though the true terror in Ka's voice made her resolve waver. Her lips peeled back in a snarl. She crouched down and flew up to hover level with Rathon. She didn't back down, even when she fully saw his appearance. She felt something stir within her, and she let it explode. Her magic tossed Rathon back like twigs in the breeze. She didn't intend to hurt him, only jostle him enough so he would listen. Her scales lit with brilliant golden light, laced with streaks of beautiful amethyst, keeping the Demonic Reaper back with her powers. You two are being ridiculous! You both go for years thinking the other is dead, you find each other, and your at each others throats like rapid dogs fighting over the last scrap of meat! You should be ashamed! I don't care who serves who, you two are brothers and are lucky to have any family left at all! she shouted angrily, her teal-aquamarine eyes blazing with harsh green-gold light. The power in her voice forced Rathon to listen and hear her words, even if his mind was pushed beyond its normal limits. Powerful form or not, she was a Dragon, no matter how young, and had power that few mortals had, even Reapers. And at that moment that power was showing itself through her rage. At herself, at Ka, and especially at Rathon. In other words, she was really, really pissed. More than she remembered ever being in her entire short life.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka hung on as Jia flew up even with Rathon, and gasp as he felt her unleash a raw form of power. He saw Rathon get tossed back, but quickly regained his footing using a seal. Ka had been about to attack when he heard Jia's words. The amount of rage he could feel coming over their link, and he could hear in her words startled Ka. He had never seen her this mad before. As he listened, he saw truth in her words and felt ashamed for what he had done. He reached out with his mind to contact Rathon. When they connected, he didn't feel the strange presence he had before, he only felt his brother.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rathon growled as Jia's magic threw him back, but he used a seal to catch himself. The amount of raw power emanating from the dragon at him was suffocating. It forced him to listen to her words, even thought he wasn't all there. As he listened, the power that was carried in her words rapped around something in his mind and constricted. He felt a burning pain so great that he couldn't move nor speak as the magic around him continued to constrict and squeeze his mind. Suddenly, it felt like glass shattered all around him as Galbatorix's spell was broken. There were still broken pieces around the edge of his mind, but he could see and think clearly for the first time in a long time. His demonic form faded. He looked up and truly saw his brother, his living,breathing brother. He felt him touch his mind and embraced it. Suddenly he shot forward and disappeared, only to reappear beside Ka and tackle him off Jia's back and onto the roof below in a hug. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ka hadn't expected it, but once he realized that his brother wasn't attacking, he embraced his brother as a joy more powerful than Jia's rage swept threw his entire being. They released their embrace and looked each other in the eye. Ka spoke first, "Rath....?" He was questioning if it was really his brother, and Rathon replied with a nod, smiling like an idiot. This itme it was Ka's turn to tackle Rathon, as tears of joy rolled down his face. "Jia, I don't know what you did, but thank you..." She vaguely felt something shatter in her grip, and realized that she had subconsciously attacked the spell holding Rathon, and broken it. She was surprised for a few moments, but shook her head when Rathon came forward and tackled her Rider from her back. Alarm flared in her mind, but she quickly noticed that they were not fighting. They were embracing. She sighed in content, the rage fading away to a dull irritation that was easily controlled. She floated down to the roof and sat on her haunches, watching the brothers. Ka's joy streamed across their link, making her smile. I don't know what I did either... she replied, humming gently in her throat. But you are welcome. she purred. She got to her paws and stalked over to the two Reapers until she loomed over them. She lowered her head to Rathon, glaring at him with one teal-aquamarine iris. She snorted softly in his face, ruffling his hair back. If you know what's good for you, never make me angry again. That was plain foolish of both of you. I could have hurt you. she murmured, then gazed at Ka with something close to agony. I never would have forgiven myself if I hurt you, dear one. she murmured, huffing her breath tenderly into his face.

Re: Vengeance And Blood Rathon was busy ruffling his brother hair, when he felt something ruffle his own. He turned to look, and went suddenly very stiff. He hadn't fully comprehended it until this point: he just tried to fight a dragon. "Duly noted...I shall tried to remember that." Rathon said, some what shakily. It wasn't that he was scared of dragons, he just didn't like them, they were too big and could do things they themselves didn't know about. He turned back to his brother, ready to ask him how he had been since that day all those years ago, when a dull ringing sound went off in his head. He went stark white. "I'm brother, I must go..." He said, without an explanation, and disappeared. He reappeared back at his house. He had just gotten into his room when a soldier wearing full armor and a cape with the twisted flame of Galbatorix. The man huffed at Rathon and spoke in a gruff, military-esk voice. "Rathon, the King wants you to come back to Uru'Baen immediately." Rathon raised an eye brow in question. "Why Captain?" It was a simple question, but the Captain went wide eyed at it. "You dare question the Kings orders?!" He practically yelled it. Rathon knew he had made a mistake, as he never would have asked for a reason if he had still been under the Kings spell. He quickly back-pedaled. "I meant is something wrong for him to want me now..." He tried to appear calm, but he knew the Captain would say something, as all of the Kings officers knew that Rathon was under a spell to obey any order form the King without question. The man replied with a cool voice. "No, he simply wants to know what is taking you so long. Now, return immediately!" The image disappeared before Rathon could reply, it had been a spell. Rathon sighed out loud and sat down on his bed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ka looked up at Jia, and listened quietly as she scolded them. He regretted his hasty action. He looked up at her when he heared the pain in her voice. He was still too stunned to speak much, but wanted to hear how Rathon had faired all these years. Just as he asked, Rathon said he had to go and disappeared. It had taken Ka by surprise, and he looked at Jia questioningly. "Should we follow him to make sure he's ok?" I shudder to think what Galbatorix might do to him if he finds out the spell was broken. she murmured, her voice suddenly tired. The blast of magic was taking its toll on her system. Don't follow him. He's close; at least still in the city. Contact him mentally and see what's wrong. Maybe we can help with whatever it is. she said, her eyelids drooping down half-way.

He dipped his head respectfully to the Dragon and Rider. "Thank you for coming when you did. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka nodded and noticed that Jia seemed tired. He figured what ever magic she had used to help Rathon must have taken it's toll on her, so he lent her his strength. "Alright..." Just as he began ot search for Rathon's mind, Tyleek swung up onto the roof. Ka nodded in return. "Yes, it is lucky. Who knows what he might have done...but that is in the past now, so lets not dwell on it." Ka reached out with his mind, looking for Rathon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rathon began to pack up what few things he had brought with him, most of which he was already wearing. He picked up his pack and headed out the door. He thought about saying goodbye to Ka and Jia, but figured it would be better not to right now. He had just started on the road when he felt a mind touch his. He instantly threw up a void seal barrier, but Ka easily avoided it with counter seals. "Calm down brother, it's just me....where are you?" Ka asked concerned. Rathon hesitated in answering. "I have been ordered back to Uru'Baen, and I think Galbatorix knows that I am free of his spell..." Rathon shuddered, thinking about what the mad king may do to him. Now Ka spoke to Jia, "You were right, Galby does know, and he has summoned Rathon back to Uru'Baen." He returned to Rathon. "So...I guess I won't see you for a while?" rathon suddenly appeared behind Ka, and hugged him. "Don't worry...you will see me again, but lets hope it is on friendly terms." Rathon released Ka and turned to Jia. "Thank you, for what ever it is you did. You freed me, but I am afraid that the Mad King already knows of it." He then turned to Tyleek. "Sorry can't quiet cover what I did to you and your Guardian, but it is all I have to offer at this moment; I am sorry." He back up form the three, "Lets hope that next time we meet, it will be as friends...fair well brother." Re: Vengeance And Blood Jia dipped her head to Rathon, sadness in her gaze. The boost of energy from her Rider helped her shake the lethargy away, though she still felt like taking a long nap. If I could take away the pain you two have endured and still have yet to suffer, I would in a heart beat. she murmured, sighing softly. She lifted her eyes to Ka, curiosity in their depths. Couldn't I carry Rathon to the citadel? Then he wouldn't have to walk all that way, and you two could catch up with each other as well. she said, her tone almost desperate. Now that they had him back, she loathed to simply let Rathon walk away after just finding him.

"Juria Atoc (Loving Angel), it is good to see you yet again. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked up at Jia. "I know you would..." He said, and rubbed her side. He stopped when she mentioned her taking Rathon to the Capitol. "No! That would be entirely too dangerous. You have have to get much too close to to Galbatorix to drop Rathon off." It was a nice enough gesture, but Ka didn't want Jia any where near that blasted city. "Besides, I sure we will see each other again soon..." He said reassuringly. He wanted to keep Rathon around as much, if not more than Jia did but for them to get as close as they would need to to drop Rathon off was too close for Ka. He looked over at Rathon, who appeared ready to leave. He stepped away from Jia and bowed to Rathon, who returned the gesture. They then both waved to each other, their hands passing close in front of their eyes. This was a Reapric gesture of goodbye that meant 'we shall see each other again'. Ka smiled and stepped back to Jia's side.

If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask...assuming I am right in the mind when you do." Rathon chuckled. He glanced over at Ka and saw him bowing. He repeated the gesture and then waved his hand in front of his face as Ka did. They both knew what this meant, so words were not necessary. You can't get much more dangerous than that, unless you count the King's throne room itself. she said in a contrite tone, snorting once. As Ka and Rathon said good bye, the gold-amethyst dragoness lifted her head and released a mournful cry. It was part way between a croon and a wail. In the Draconic Tongue it meant 'I'm filled with sorrow at your departure; let us meet again soon and share a meal and exchange words together.'. Ka would understand it to a point; she'd given him some brief lessons in her native tongue. She stopped finally when Ka's brother was merely a scent on the breeze.
- - - - - - - - - - Tyleek merely nodded in gratitude to Rathon, unsure if the Reaper was blowing air or actually meant what he said. The Allatik shrugged, then turned to Ka. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka listened to Jia's cry, only understanding part of it. "Maybe so, but that was before we met. I don't want you any where near harms way if I can help it." Once he knew Rathon had gone, he turned to Tyleek. "Yes, it would...but I don't know of any where around here that would sell us a room, and I don't think I want to go to the house Rathon obtained if he obtained it in the manner you suggested." He shuffled his feet and looked around, waiting for someone to come up with an idea.

Honestly, Ka, you remind me of my brother. she griped, grumbling a few curses in the Draconic Tongue under her breath. At Tyleek's suggestion, the gold-amethyst-dragoness padded to the edge of the building and looked down. There's a window here I could slip through as well. she added, scanning the alley below for people. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka had to restrain a laugh at Jia's comment. "I'll take that as a compliment..." He said, chuckling to himself and ignoring the few curses he caught and understood. At Tyleek's suggestion, he nodded. "Sounds good to me" He walked by Jia, still grinning that he annoyed her the way her brother does. As he passed he bumped into her on purpose and grinned. "I am not a pale-wingless-rat." He said, insinuating that he had heard her curses. His grin widened into a smile and he jumped into the room. He looked around and saw it empty. "All clear...I don't think anyone lives here." He said, looking threw a few of the drawers.

Before she could retort, he'd already jumped into the window. She rolled her eyes and climbed down the wall, gripping the stone in her talons. She arched her spine and slithered through the window, walking along the ceiling with her claws. She twisted around and landed on her paws on the floor. If her mood had been fouler, she might have landed on Ka, but she wasn't in the mood to possibly hurt him by mistake. Pale-wingless-rat indeed. she growled. Her eyes narrowed to slits as she lifted her upper lip, showing her fangs as she hissed at him. She didn't exactly know why, but she was really irritated. With who or what was a mystery to her. She grumpily settled on her stomach in a corner, laying her head on her forepaws. Her hard teal-aquamarine irises watched Ka and Tyleek.
- - - - - - - - - - Tyleek followed Jia, careful to not jostle Theldor too much. He studied her warily after she hissed, though he knew she wouldn't hurt him. He laid the golden eagle on one cot, sure to smooth his feathers down so he didn't wake. The Allatik straightened and leaned against the wall beside the cot. Re: Vengeance And Blood Ka looked up at the sound of claws on ceiling and saw Jia. He half expected her to land on him. He watched her land gracefully on the floor. He cringed when she hissed at him, as it wasn't often that she did something like that. He moved closer to her and sat down near her. "Jia...whats wrong?" He asked concerned. He glanced over his shoulder at Tyleek. "That's good...we shouldn't be disturbed then." His voice was a bit rushed as he wanted to know why Jia was in such a foul mood. He looked into her eyes, hoping to glean some kind of hint.

He said, with a touch of admiration in his voice. As he gently stroked her head, he began to hum. It was a song he knew only partway. He didn't know the words, only the tune. as he hummed, he felt his own eyes beginning to get heavy.
