I'm starting to suspect that CP is going to turn Angela into a werecat. All of the things we know about their behavior seem to apply to her, but we know she's not already one. And then there is the fact that Solembum does like to travel with her.

What do y'all think?

Well, there's the fact that everybody notices she happens to be where things of importance are about to happen and then gets herself involved in them, and she is far older than she appears.

And just because she's based off his sister doesn't mean he won't turn her into a werecat. Maybe his sister really likes cats. Lol, jk

Lol, that would also be me. But I posted that before Brisingr came out, and now that it has, I'm starting to think she's more likely to become a werecat. Besides, if she had been a Rider, how could she have been that mad spellcaster's apprentice?

o.k. i just thought of a good argument! when both solembum and quickpaw(more commonly known as maud) change into human form they appear to be children. Remember brom said that werecats live as long as dragons.
Angela is short but not kid short(height reference in eldest when angela is making poison and when heading out to battle I THINK)

as for tenga, maby angelas dragon(assuming she was a rider) may have died before she learned magic and the rieders refused to tutor her so she turned to tenga.

Eldest also says that Maud appears to look like a woman-child in her human form. Not to mention that whatever turns a person into a werecat (cat-scratch fever, maybe? lol, jk) could alter their appearance, much the same way the dragons did Eragon, or just being linked with a dragon does to a human Rider. And Brom said they had extraordinarily long lives, not that they live as long as dragons.

The chances greatly lean toward the fact that she would have already started learning magic before her dragon was killed, if she had been a Rider that is.

i'll have to reread that part of eldest. also we dont know of werecats using magic. i'll be back to further my point

And Brom also said that nobody is sure if they can use magic or not. So some of them might be able to, some of them might not. Or maybe when somebody is turned into one, it cuts them off from using magic somehow.

brom also said that they are an ancient RACE. humans and werecats are two different races. eragon did change RACE he his transformation was just accelerated so even he didnt change race.

It says in Brisingr that what Eragon became was neither completely elf, nor totally human. He's half-and-half. What the dragon's did to him was more complex than just the normal transformation of a human Rider.

Maybe the werecats are dying off and they're looking for people to turn. Like you said, they're ancient.

And just because Brom said they're a race, doesn't mean that normal people can't become one.

Besides, when a human Rider's appearance started to change, they didn't lose all of the scars they had ever gotten. Eragon did when the dragons changed him.

It's really not that hard to imagine her becoming a werecat if you think about it.

And if you get turned into one, it could also alter your appearance, making you appear younger than you are. (Which, by the way, Angela already looks younger than she is.) So it wouldn't be difficult to change a few things until she has a semi-childlike appearance.

Also to IE96 I don't think there is any evidence that Selena and Angela are the same person other than they are both human women.

But I will list a few of them anyway
1. Selena died.
2. Brom saw Selena's dead body.
3. Selena is related to Garrow and would look really old by now.
4. Selena wasn't taught by Tenga.
5. Selena was a competent spellcaster (Angela isn't).
6. Selena is related to Eragon.
7. Angela is accompanied by a werecat Selena never was.
8. Angela has dragon bones.
9. Angela has had to eat her own herbs in the past. Selena never had hard times when she was with Morsworn and before that she was a farmer's daughter so no magic herbs.
10. Angela is much older than Selena would have been.

I agree with aluminiumclock, Angela and Selena aren't the same person. Here's why: Garrow was Eragon's uncle and they looked somewhat alike. If Angela was Selena, she would have recognized him when he came into her shop. Even if she didn't, she would have known when he reached the Varden.

And why would Morzan teach Selena how to read dragon knucklebones? It wouldn't be of any use to her while she was working for him. Nah, Selena is definitely dead.

Well we hear it second hand from Oromis when he discusses Selena and Brom with Eragon.

I remember Oromis saying that Brom arrived just hours after she died, so I guess it is safe to say he saw her body.

If you have read them, then you've seen where I've posted about her already having certain characteristics of a werecat. So it's entirely possible that she gets turned into one. (Nobody knows if they're born, made, or both.)

Werecats could have a stage like the Ra'zac do before going into their mature form.

I dunno about Solembum being the one whose giving her an extra long life. How would he manage that? I think that she's just lived an extraordinarily long life to start with, and somehow when Solembum first met her, he sensed she was going to become a werecat, so he's sticking with her to help her when she does finally change into one. (Seriously, I'd need some major help if I woke up one day and had fur and a tail.)

Sorry about me short posts im working on that and for the first week i had no idea people were talking to be when they said IE96 but then I realized that so this is what i was thinking: If elves can change their body forms (ex;Bloodgarm) than could solembum and angela be elves because oromis said that she was once in ellesmera and only elfs and dragonriders are allowed in and selena used magic to make her look human like arya did when looking for eragon after he stayed to investigate helgrind. There big enough for you.

However in answer to your paragraph no it is not possible. Solembum is a werecat the werecat Maud acknowledges this and Maud isn't a transformed elf as the elves would recognize his consciousness from when he was an elf among them. Angela is an incompetent spell caster so probably couldn't cast spells this complex even if she could make herself look human she would still have elven attributes such as enhanced speed and strength and there is no evidence for this. Solembum probably couldn't do it for her because it seems werecats are like dragons when it comes to magic. ie: they can use magic without the ancient language however like dragons they can probably only cast certain spells on demand for dragons an example would be the dragons being able to breathe fire.

It doesn't clarify if werecats can actually use magic in any of the books. They usually just know things they shouldn't. So my guess would be: They can use a form of magic that other spellcasters can't, because it's one of those 'avenues of magic' that can't, or haven't been, explored by elven/human/dwarven spellcasters.

Well we do know some types of magic they use. The example I was thinking of was when they keep transforming forms between being a cat and a young human.

Oh ya I forgot they can shapeshift so they can use magic like shapshifting and talking with their mind.(forgot what is is called)

People who can talk with their mind or block their thoughts can't always use magic.
