Re: Has anyone read this?
It's about these half dragon kids that fulfill prophecy made by Merlin. It's set in the present.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
All of them. There are two series. Four books in each. The first book in the first series is called Raising Dragons. The first book in the second series is called Eye of the Oracle

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
I've only read the first series. I've never talked to anyone else that has read the series aside from my friend who told me about it. My friends family is religious and I only go to church when I visit my grandma but the religion didn't bother me.

Hmm, that sounds really interesting. I can't believe I've never heard of it. Half-dragon? Are they siblings?

No. They are not related. They dod end up getting together in the end though , but that was pretty obvious because there is a prophecy saying that they would.

I wrote down the author's name and the series titles and gave it to my librarian. Hopefully she gets them in soon.

It took me a while to find them. You can probably request them at your local library. That is what I did, but I had to borrow the first one from a friend.

I think I posted earlier that I had given the list to my school librarian, but she's not sure she'll be able to get them in this year. And this year is my senior year. Oh, well. The college I plan on going to has a Barnes and Noble on campus, and the town it's in has a Hastings.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
It's set way in the future on a different planet that has dragons. The people fight their dragons in places called pits. The main character is a kid named Jakkin and he raises a red dragon to fight. (Reds are the best fighters.) The dragons aren't like the dragons in Inheritance though... I dunno, it's good, but... Idk, read it and tell me what ya think.
Are there going to be any more of these DIOM books? Or are these 8 the only ones?

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
I am so jealous. The book money at my school's library is just about gone. Lol, my librarian knows this is my senior year so she's been buying all these books I want to read so I don't blow my money on them in college.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
Its so not fair. They always do the opposite of what people think. What if for once, they do the unexpected and do what the people expect. They wont expect in, but they really like it, instead of having the hero(s) face somekind of downfall, degration, or humiliation, or just giving up something.

I know. I think that the best ending to a series I've read is the ending to Pendragon.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
It's about this kid, Bobby Pendragon, whose uncle shows up and takes him to this place called a flume. He says Denduron and he flies down a tunnel to this other world called Denduron. It's called territory. There are ten territories, and people called Travelers can move between them using flumes. Bobby obviously is a Traveler. This evil guy named Saint Dane(great name) is trying to topple all the territories, so he can take what's left.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
I hated the cliffhanger at the end of book 9. What Travelers are is actually quite interesting. It might take a few rereadings to understand though. Tell what you think of book 10 once you've read it.
ORDER OF SERIES: 1. The Merchant of Death 2. The Lost City of Farr 3. The Never War 4. The Reality Bug 5. Black Water 6. The Rivers of Zadaa 7. The Quillian Games 8. The Pilgrims of Rayne 9. Raven Rise 10. The Soldiers of Halla

M'kay, just checking. I think my school library might have some books by him, but I don't think it's this series.

That's a lot of books. How many pages on average? I read over 134 books last year, and I want to beat my record, so im like speed reading, but I understand everything that I read. Its soooo cool.

You guys are getting way off topic, talk about Pendragon in its topic, I know I've seen one around here.
eragon+arya wrote: I was kind of disappointed when they gave up their dragon gifts though.
This is mis-information, I think you should re-read the last book of the DoM series, e+a, they didn't give up their powers. Not both of them, I'm pretty sure... I think one did but the other didn't. I'll have to check my book for that.
(case you didn't catch on, I've read this series, just haven't posted in here yet. I have all but the latest book.)

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
As to Dragons, the ending was good, but kinda annoying for the reason you said. The new series, from what I've read, was good, but convoluted and didn't have nearly as good of characters. Course, I've not read them since probably freshman year of highschool, so....
Don't entirely remember the ending of Pendragon, and what I think I remember I won't say, for spoilers sakes. Bobby was a great character, and very likeable, which is why the series did well, I think.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
It topok me a while to get through the first two because it was good, but it didn't really hold my attention like Eragon, or Pendragon did.
No offence, they were good books

Are they relatively new books, or what? (Talking about DoM.)

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
I went and checked my 4th book and discovered
he does not say if Bonnie lost her power or not, they say that Billy's ring turned white, but Bonnie just starts crying and asks "Do you want to guess what color my ring is?" and thats the end of the book, they do not confirm whether she lost them or not.
Dragons in our Midst and Oracles of Fire. They correspond, but I'm not sure how.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
I read the first 2 or 3 Oracles books. They were good, but far more complicated and I liked the characters less, though there was some carry-over, if I remember correctly.
Not bad, its just when you read a book, then the sequel comes out a year later, and you have to re-read the previous one to understand the new one....not always a good thing. But back-to-back I'm sure they're better.

Oh I love the first series! I haven't gotten the second one yet but I'm so going to! I thought the end was dumb, but I loved it other than that! And I'm Christian, been that way for a while, yet I still learned from the books. It was so awesome! The last was my favourite, as well as the second.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
It annoys me when authors do prequels. Why not just start the series there if you're going to come back to it???

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
I know. it makes no sense. if the first series is with Bonnie and Billy, and the second one is before them, then it makes no sense because people got used to the main characters and then creating a series that they don't exist in, it won't sell well...

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
It's not that it doesn't sell well, it's just flipping confusing. Idk, most book series I read don't have prequels, so that's something to be happy about. The one prequel that I did like was the prequel of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
Too true, kvista! I hate it when they either do it in the past or do it in the future with different characters. Every time I read a story like that I always, (if it is in the future) hang onto everything said about or said by the original characters. When it's in the past.... it's just not as good.

Re: Has anyone read the Dragons in our Midst series?
Well a sequel that I would def recommend is the Percy Jackson spin-off series, The Heroes of Olympus. It's good, and the next book will actually center around Percy.

If it centers around Percy, then I'm all for it. If it's about someone else, I wouldn't give two hoots about it.

Lol, well read the first one (The Lost Hero), otherwise I can guarantee you'll be lost. Uuuuuhhhhh.... We are so off topic, lol I think I should go look up the DioM series now, while I'm not doing anything.
