It was the middle of the day. It was hot. It was bright. It was quiet. All in all, it was a bit boring. Kariana shifted uneasily, her glittering amethyst scales making a rustling sound as they swept across the stone floor. Her claws scraped the bare rock leaving shallow gashes in the cave, and a trickle of sand poured down past the entrance. She had found a nice shady alcove in the rock face to shelter in during the day. If it weren't for the location, Kariana would have thought it perfect. The only thing is, it was settled right in the middle of the empire. The great dragon was indeed staying in a place which Galbatorix dared to command.
Well, there's worse places I could be. she decided as Uru'baen flickered through her mind- an attempt to reassure herself.

Kariana knew she should be sleeping in such heat, but sleeping was about the dullest thing she could be doing. She needed something fun to do, somewhere to go- some excitement which didn't involve flying a huge distance.

The dragon peered out of the gaping cave mouth which overlooked the city of Gil'ead. Nothing much to see really. Her sharp gaze picked out a few tiny people patrolling the city wall, but apart from that, the settlement was deserted. Everyone must be inside in such weather. Again, her gaze flickered back to the guards. Working for Galbatorix of course. Rage boiled inside her, and she smiled at her sudden idea. Everyone was inside- none of the innocent were to be harmed. There was nothing else to do anyway, not to mention the fact that just about the whole of the Empire was already aware of her existence. Overall, Kariana could see no reason not to go through with it. Carefully, she heaved herself upright and shifted to the rocky precipice in front of her. Spreading her wings, Kariana gracefully launched herself off the edge, and headed for Gil'ead. As she glided closer, Kariana could see soldiers running. She had finally been spotted. Arrows flew dangerously at her from the city wall, but Kariana just grinned as she tucked her wings closer to her body- speed increasing every second.

IC Blake was walking along a path to Gil'ead to check on a Varden spy. He wasn't told his name but was told he hasn't replied for months. I wonder what happened to him.... He told his dragon, Keriaia, who was close by hiding. I don't know... She replied. Well let's find out.. He told her. That's why were here... She said. Blake was still walking when he heard screaming and a very distinct sound. Keriaia are you flying around and terrorizing the gaurds? he asked her. No......But i hear it too.. She replied. He ran ahead and ducked behind a bush. Is that another dragon? A wild dragon? He asked Keriaia. I guess it is... She said back. Blake saw that the dragon was attacking the gaurds. Not my idea of anger management... He tried to say to the Wild dragon.

IC-In spite of all the noise the humans were making, Kariana heard something being said. It wasn't a shout though- it sounded like somebody close was whispering to her. She paused and looked around wildly. Roughly, she landed on the city wall, parts crumbling away beneath her and huge stones flattening those on the floor whilst she struggled to keep her balance. It wasn't easy to stay on the flimsy wall, considering her massive size. She glanced around. Nobody there. Someone magical must be near- somebody who could use their mind to communicate.
Sorcerer, shade, elf, rider, magician... Kariana ran through the possibilities in her mind as quickly as possible. An arrow bounced off her tough scales, bringing her back to her senses. With a roar of anguish, the dragon slashed with her claws at the guard who had fired the arrow- sending him tumbling to his fate off the 50ft wall. Eventually, she replied with caution, ignoring the remark.
Who are you? she growled as a cowardly guard tried to wriggle free from her deadly grasp.

Blake was also being very catiuous. And i should tell you becuase? He asked The dragon. Why do you think this dragon is here? He asked Keriaia. I don't know....What do you think? She asked back. No idea at all.... He replied. He turned his thoughts back to the other drgon currently on the wall.

IC-Kariana curled her lip, replying to her unseen communicator.
Because if you are a friend, I will refrain from ripping you limb from limb. She pointed out, hiding her anxiety about the fact he was a potential magic user. She swivelled on the spot, searching for whoever she was talking too. He could obviously see her, so he must be close. Once again, she took off- leaping from the wall causing most of the section she was on to fall backwards creating a large dust cloud. A spurt of fire raged from between her jaws as she spread her leathery wings and rapidly rose to the clouds. From the incredible height she was at, Kariana could pick out tiny figures running to the aid of their fallen companions. Hoping to see who was speaking with her, she dipped slightly lower circling the southern part of the city near the broken wall. Her sharp eyesight scanned the ground like a hawk, until a flash of movement caught her eye. She landed with a thud, tucking her wings close to her to avoid injury from the fresh shower of arrows. There was a small amount of foliage, and not many places to hide. Grinning in her strange way, Kariana headed to a cluster of bushes and trees, planning to step on them or set them alight to flush out anyone who might be hiding.

IC:The Dragon had landed near Blake he moved swiflty over to the next bush. If i told you i was a friend what would you do? He asked the Dragon Besides refraining to tear me limb from limb? He wasn't sure if the dragon knew but he was staring it sraight in the eyes. He noted that the gaurds were breathing a sigh of relief with the dragon leaving. I hope you know not all of those gaurds were willing to sign up as a city gaurd...some were forced and threatend into it.... He said to it.

Yes, well they must be rather weak minded then. she replied venomously. She sorted through some bushes with her claws, but found nobody.
And cowardly. Kariana added with emphasis, to point out the fact that he was still hiding. She could sense somebodies stare, so he must be near by anyway. She swept her tail sideways along the ground, forming a cloud of dust which rose steadily before disappearing into the air.
If you were a friend, I suppose I might want to ask a few things. she added cautiously.
But if you were an enemy, it could be a case of eat first, ask questions later. the dragon grinned, bearing her long fangs which were now smothered with blood. Gently, she blew a tiny stream of fire into the empty bushes, and watched as it spread to all of the nearby foliage. She waited contentedly, knowing that if anyone was there, they would finally have to reveal themselves.

Before i come out i'm going to leave you with a question, Blake said What would you do if you were sent a letter that said you had to fight for the empire or the empire would kill your family? He asked. After that he walked out of the opart of the bushes what that wasn't on fire. He gave the Dragon a questiong stare. He saw that the gaurds had vanished from the site of the atatck. Where'd they go? He asked himself.

She snarled.
It too late for that! she was feeling the anger rise inside her, and ignored the question about the guards.
They already have killed my family! by now she was on the verge of tears, but didn't let it show. Her silent voice remained steady, and her upper lip remained angrily curled. Her temper with this midget was unbearable, and she swept her tail across his legs, knocking him to the ground. She would never really intend to harm him or draw blood, and she thought he probably knew that, but sure enough, the fall seemed to shock him. It was either the fall, or her words. She continued:
And of course, the tyrant kind felt the need to destroy anyone who I have ever been close to! For nearly 200 years, I've had to suffer in silence, with that thought to keep me company. She was for some reason, pouring her heart out to this complete stranger.
