Roran proves to be a very assertive thinker
Last week I was listening to Eldest, AGAIN, and I notice for the first time how assertive Roran's thinking process seems to be. This gives me some indication that he will be holding an important position and role in the next book.
I'll be posting examples of what I mean....
When Roran goes hunting with Baldor and first realizes the soldiers are camping at the outsides of Carvahall, he was right on on his deducing the following...
"He always assumed that when the strangers destroyed his home, they got what they wanted, which was the stone Eragon brought from the Spine. They must not have found it, he decided. Perhaps Eragon managed to escape with the stone... He frowned. That would go a long way toward explaining why Eragon fled, but it still seemed far-fetched to Roran. Whatever the reason, that stone must be a fantastic treasure for the king to send so many men to retrieve it. I can't understand what would make it so valuable. Maybe it's magic. ( Eldest, 44)

Yeah, you're right... come to think of it, there are a lot of examples of that.

I noticed that too. There were tons of examples of Rorans assertive thinking and I think that with out he and the villigers of Carvahall would not have survived.

Perhaps Eraon should consider taking a few lessons from Roran about thinking, even though he is still training and learning how to do things. It's a difficult life, being a rider.

Yet it would only come naturally to him. If Galbatorix was to send so many men at that time when Eragon got the egg, it would be common sense to suspect the egg to have some kind of value to Galbatorix. Of course magic would be just about everyone's first guess due to the fact that Galbatorix already has all the riches and things he could ever need.
