They won't make a re-made version of the 1st, not for a long, long time at least. What the movie is designed for is to entertain people who have never read the books. Remember film makers are focusing on making money, not staying true to the book. They will make a second movie but it will rely on the first movie more than the actual book. When the 2nd movie comes out i will not watch it because i know my artistic side of myself will want to burn down the theater i am in.
I agree with you all though, to make a movie that the book fans could be attached to they would have to redo the movie. Everything with the 1st movie was terrible, the sword was blue, the raz'ac where killed, the shade was more like a vampire than a demon, and where the hell did that shadow dragon come from? Not to mentioin the urgals where not even what they where described as in the books. They looked like fat bugbear mated orcs...lol terrible movie for those who read the book, good for those who don't have half a brain, or never read the book.

what I did was I watched the movie and then read the books. The movie was the thing that got me into reading the books. I liked the movie the first time I saw it. After I read the books though i didn't like it,

All the movies I have seen based on books are terrible .
LOTR had massive chunks left out, but they still made 3 movies and look at the oscars thet won.
You will just have to get used to it and accept it as one of life's downers.
I now make sure that I never watch a film version of a book that I have loved. Too frustrating and disappointing!

well, a movie made from a book doesn't have to be exactley the same to be nice.
although they could have sticked more to the book in some places, they couldn't include the entire book in the script

Movie stinks. I hope Eldest (if they make it) will be better.

CP should have pulled a Rowling and got involved with writing the script.

Although I didn't completely understand your post, I guess CP could have had a more active part in writing the script
