well since that was TOTALLY off topic i think i can inform you that the color contraversy has been discussed on my very good friend's topic The Green Dragon? under Rumers about the books. now, what evidence do you have about the dragon not being already grown, and not just an egg?

i have presented plenty that seggested otherwise.

Its said somewhere in a book that the last GREEN egg. And that proberly means the dragon is green.

i don't reckon so because if arya was bonded with a dragon she would travel with is rember in brisingr how much pain saphira and eragon went through being seperated and your infering arya would be seperated for ages and multiple times.

Yes, CrazyDragonGirl, the next Dragon's color will be green... because each book is based off of a dragon's color.

Hello everybody I am here to admit to everyone, specifically Annie. I could find no solid evidence that the new dragon will be green only that the cover will be green. I was wrong and I found nothing to show the the green dragon will be green.

CP has said

1) in interviews
2) on his publisher's website
3) at book signings

that the next book will be green. Send him a letter if you still doubt, oh ye of little faith.

exactly if you can prove the next book is green then i for one will believe but until then i think its yellow/gold or possibly white.

It does say that in book 3 Eragon Stepps on a Green dragon egg fragment when comming to heal saphira after she tried to attack Gladier

i think. . . Murtagh has told us that galby is trying to get the last egg to hatch, therefore the varden and elves don't have it, if arya was already a rider, then she would already be fighting with the varden against galby, no need for secrecy at all, all in all, this theory is WWWAAAYYY OOOFFF

exactly!! he would lie and make eragon think that the last egg is in the castle in uru'bane this could be a trick to lure eragon there.

but wouldnt somebody have told eragon by now if that was so? and also, i doubt it because would most likely have been looking for that egg, and as far as we know, he hasnt went many places with shruikan.....

i think the farthest galby has gone with shruikan in the last fifty years is drasleona

maybe brom hid it while he was still alive in the VoS around the same time the dragonriders banished the names of the dragons of the forsworn and they couldn't control the magic and VoS name was disappeared as well

The books say that only one egg was stolen from Galbatorix, and that after that they were moved to a place of the highest possible security, where they couldn’t possibly get at them, this place is probably where Galbatorix keeps the HoHs. So what could possibly make you think that someone would get to this secure place and then leave the HoH, they would be way more valuable that the egg... with all the heart Galbatorix would have no more power than any other rider...Also because of his paranoid nature and the diminishment of power over distance that Galbatorix would most likely not leave them anywhere but under his direct sight, where he could watch and access them at a moment’s notice making very unlikely that anyone could get at them. While he is a tyrant he’s clearly not stupid, and he would make the same mistake of leaving the egg unprotected again... therefore making the theories of the whole threat moot.

The person who stole the first egg only ever stole one... they botched the job and instead of bringing the egg to the Varden they ended up starting a whole wild goose chase involving Brom and Morzan... Basically just saying that after this incident the security would have gone WAY up and would have stopped any other attempt...
Point B)
Because of the paranoid nature, Galbatorix probably has the eggs very close, possibly even with the HoH, basically just showing how they're could be no second attempt at the egg...

Sorry they came out kind of muddled... I don't really know what I was thinking when I posted that. Anyway I just wanted to say that while the theories here are cool, how you the second egg have managed to get out of Galbis sight? I know that CP has contradicted himself before but isn't this really unlikely? Anyway if there is a way that they could have the egg that I overlooked please post it... It would be cool to have a third Rider, especially someone like Angela.

PS: If this is muddled to I apologise but I've been studying for a final in the morning for like 5 hours so I'm kind of muddled myself right now...

i was just thinking ( i know, amazing rite?) and what if the guy who stole saphiras egg didnt botch the job and thats why he ran. maybe he hid the egg while on the run and thats why they only found him saphiras and assumed he'd messed up. so it could have been hidden for ages without anyone knowing! sept galby ofcorse but he wouldnt exactly make it public that someone was able to steel from him and because of that vainness the varden would have no idea

Also the Varden KNEW the thief stole one egg so why wouldn't they know if he had stolen a second.

Galby would be looking (as in with all of his resources for the third egg if it is hidden.

Ok, the title does not match the topic. Your planning a Thoery and the title says that the egg already hatched. It does not make sence to me.

The only way I can see an unknown rider already existing would be due to that where the dragons of old would mate and die(pretty sure it had a name; no idea what it is called), there was a shard of a green egg shell on the ground. Doubt it though; I think CP was just trying to mess with me...

ya never know...the other rider could have been in du weldenvarden when eragon was there....i still think it is hatched tho

First of all they said it was a green egg and the dragon is the same color as the egg so the dragon and egg are both green.

First of all, we know the dragon is green.

CP said that he left many hints who the next Drider will be.
So I say Arya because:

She has green eyes
Her magic is green
If the egg hatched for someone in the Varden he/she would require too much training for them to be at any use at all against Galby, Arya wouldnt need so much training except for her dragon. Really, she knows everything she need to.
Half the riders were female, so far there are none
So far only human riders (since Oromis's death)

ı remember that brom said there were 3 eggs we tried to steal all but we found one one is hacthed for eragon one is hatched for murtagh in anywhere it doesnt say last egg is with galbatorix ı think last one is stealed by s.o. but either galby or eragon doesnt know where it is. it is not hatched yet ı think be couse they have to feel the hatch between rider and dragon ı think ı said galby doesnt know where egg is

Actually, Galbatorix does have the last egg. brom had said that there were three eggs, yes eragons and murtaghs hatched. but brom also said that after saphiras egg had been stolen they were unable to steal the other two because Galbatorix upped security on them to make sure another wasnt stolen.

If we assume that the varden don't know the whole story and that the thief stole both eggs. Why would he only have one when Morzan caught up with him or if Morzan did capture both eggs why did Brom find only one after the battle. So the only time the egg could have disappeared is between the time of the thief stealing the eggs and Morzan capturing him. What motive could the thief the have for leaving one egg somewhere or with someone and not leave the other egg at the same place?

well, i dont remeber how long it said the theif had the egg for before morzan found him.....and the theif probably would ahve wanted to hide the other egg in a different place

Right, why would he want to hide either egg as there are no 'buyers'. The empire would kill the thief after torturing the eggs location out of him (or just stealing said information from his mind) and the varden would probably do the same and everyone seems to be working for or allies of one of these two groups.

but it could be possible the theif was working for a thrid party who wanted to protect the last egg and find the last rider-so he wouldnt nessisarily be worried about sed buyers

Who would this third party be? Some small band of people (beings) that we haven't met before who are going to be introduced in the last book. Seems unlikely but how else will Paolini wrap up the story and any questions about the last egg.

Everyone's hiding of the green egg theory seems to be pointing at the RoK...

I think the elves would have revealed that they had the third egg to Eragon by now after all they even shared secrets with Eragon that they didn't share with even Arya.

i dont know about that....the elves are pretty secretive and i think if they really didnt want the varden to know they have the egg they wouldnt risk telling eragon

Oromis trusted Eragon enough to tell him about the eldunari how much bigger of a secret is one egg in comparison? Also why would the elves want to hide it if they revealed they had it, it would motivate the varden, dwarves, surdans and of course the elves themselves (I'm presuming not all the elves would know about the second egg because it would be hard to keep a secret if that many people knew about it). It would also demotivate the empire's troops and help to destroy Galby's appearance of invulnerability.

but if eragon ever were to get captured and eragons mind broken into then galby would already know about the eldunari so the information would not mater that much if it was lost whereas if he found out the third egg was not safely hidden as he thought but with the elves and he would most likely send a large part of his troops to find elesmera and the egg, no matter how great the risk was to the troops. with the varden, if it were revealed then they would have to same argument over what race the rider would be. and even if the varden found out about it i doubt nasuada would tell anyone for fear of the empire finding out and doing as said about ^^^

1. Galby would know if someone stole the egg as HE WOULDN'T HAVE IT.
2. Logically he knows that either the dwarves, the elves or the varden have it.
3. Even if he knew that the elves had the egg it wouldn't matter as he is currently far to bust defending his empire against the elves and the humans and the dwarves to go looking for the egg.
4. If Eragon was captured and brought before Galby and Galby broke into his mind the elves, dwarves and humans are pretty much screwed anyway it wouldn't matter if he knew the eggs location at that point because he will have basically won.

good points but still if the egg had been stolen then galby wouldnt want it shouted around that he had lost both of them would he? the point is he might withdraw some of is forces from fighting the varden if he knew where the egg was.

Why would what Galby thought matter to the elves in fact I think that they would leap at the chance to annoy galby. Secondly a large amount of humans being diverted to attack the elves is a bad thing how? the elves won't have any problem killing them and it would relieve some of the pressure of the varden.

all evidence suggests that he wouldn't and would most likely send Murtagh. Even if Galby did go himself we have to remember that he can only access the energy of eldunari that he can contact either with his mind or physically so he won't be able to bring all of his power with him to Du weldenvarden. Also I would argue that the elves have a chance considering the fact that pretty much all the elves are in the elven army and that is a huge source of power.

i don't wanna read through 13 pages of posts so sorry if i repeat. But I think Possibly the egg has already hatched because of the shell eragon saw and i think its Vanir and that oromis knew even if no one else did, elves are loyal to each others secrets if oromis couldnt or wouldnt tell for the greater good he wouldn't say anything. Oromis makes a statement in eldest to eragon that he thinks it would be better for him to spar with another STUDENT. There is a chance that no one knows at all but what i do know is that Saphira might be picky enough to not want a mate that is younger than she and two a hatchling could do nothing to help the fight without being altered by magic which isn't good for the dragon.

it is possible that the dragon is hiding somewhere in the forest but not actually with the elves. ofcourse the elves would know but i doubt they would interfere.
and couldnt the egg galby thinks he has be a fake? a good enough wizard could do it im sure!
