the movie versus the book
i just want to know everyone elses opinion on the movie and the book
heres mine: i think the movie was really good as long as you dont compare it to the book, but other wise the movie wasnt that great and besides books are always better than the movies.

Re: the movie versus the book
I gotta agree with dragon freak. The movie skipped so much of the book, alot of the bonding between Eragon and Saphira. The kind of stuff that makes you care about what happens to the characters. Saphira was pretty cool, yet she could have been better.

And the movie couldn't compare ONE BIT. They skipped and changed so much stuff. Saphira looked good. As a whole, it wasn't bad. But it wasn't Eragon.

Re: the movie versus the book
THE BOOK WAS WAY BETTER THAN THE MOVIE. BOOKS GIVE WAY WAY WAY MORE DETAILS THAN MOVIES. BUT YOU NO HOW THEY SAY IN THE BOOK HOW SHINEY AND SAPPHIRE BLUE SHE IS. BUT IN THE MOVIE SHE IS REALLY DIRTY AND ALMOST BROWN COLORED.

yes that is all extremely true but the special effects were very cool, well boring compared to the 5th harry potter movie but you get the drift i think

the movie stinks! when eragon shot his crossbow the shots sounds like rubberbands getting launched. the book so far is great! they also took out way to much of the book and put to little of the stuff from the book in the movie =\

yeah the movie was a mess up. and especaily the part free_flyer mentioned. She flew up in the air and got liek struck by lightning and then came down like 5 times bigger and was like "Ive been waiting for thousands of years for you, Eragon."

Re: the movie versus the book
everyone is probably gonna kill me but.... whatever.
I actually thought the movie was pretty good. It did skip a lot of the details and screwed bits up, but it was good. at least to me.
Jeremy Irons did awesome as Brom- i was so sad when he died but the acting was awesome. Except i didn't like who played arya.
and Saphira was awesome. I actually always imagined dragons as having feathers. believe me its not wierd.
hasn't this topic been done before?

Re: the movie versus the book
i agree. the movie was decent at best when not comparing it to the book. but when you read the book, you see what a disgrace the movie really was. it completely slaughtered the book and did no justice what-so-ever. once again- don't judge a book by it's movie!

Re: the movie versus the book
First off I must say, I created this account just so I can speak of this topic.
I saw the movie before I read the book, and before I even really cared about the book, I just felt like watching a movie.
When I watched the movie i felt as though everything was a little rushed. Saphira grew up in like a flash, Garrow died and I had no connection to the character Roran leaves and I'm like "...okay", it was rushed.
I must admit that besides that fact, I liked it and thought it could have been "Lord of the Rings" big if it had been longer.
My boyfriend (who has both books and is an avid fan) suggested I read the books because they are far better than the movie. I finished Eldest today and was absolutely thrown back by all of the detail and how connected you become to the characters.
I read a few comments here and was surprised that Eragon fans liked the movie mostly because the actor's appearance (mainly because I figured people who sat down and read the "massive" books would have a little more sense than that)
In any case, now that I've read the books I'm more disappointed with the movie than I was to begin with.
That's all =-)

Re: the movie versus the book
i agree that the movie was pretty rushed. as a movie in itself it was pretty good but i read the book first and was very exited to see how they interpreted it into a movie... NOT IMPRESSED!!! i think it is probably better to see the movie first because then you dont think its rubbish compared to the book. i hope they dont make all the books into movies because they messed up the first one so bad they would have to change nearly all of it to make it a good movie and fit in with the storyline of the other one!![/color]

Re: the movie versus the book
The movie did rush things along too fast. In the book it took time for saphira to grow. in the movie she grew in a flash. The ending of the movie was better than the book. The way eragon killed durza was cool.

you are most like ERAGON
You are powerful, brave and heroic and always willing to face any foes you meet. Though you are learning how to form alliances, determine whether you can trust people, and how to use your magic safely and effectively, you can occasionaly be a bit too headstrong. Luckily you have wise guides like Brom and Saphira to show you the way.

I think the beginning was VERY great. I went with an open mind...I was fairly dissapointed at the changes that were made. But I mean...it wasn't bad. Effects were good, the acting was good...
