Skills:
Beauty: Serena's race is as fair, if not more fair than the elves themselves. Their physical beauty is almost totally unsurpassed. Serena moves in the water with more grace than an elven queen, and her beauty is only enhanced by the pheromones which interact with both humans and dwarves, but only partially with elves, and not at all with dragons. This beauty allows Serena to get close to her prey.

Singing: Serena's voice is beyond entrancing. It is as melodious as the best of the elven singers. Serena's voice is almost hypnotic in its potency. This ability affects most all humans, there are some exceptions; however, those exceptions are few and far between. This ability does not do much to dwarves, elves, dragons, etc. other than to sound beautiful.

Breathe above & below water: Serena and her kin can breathe above and below water meaning that she cannot drown, and if kept wet can exist out of water indefinitely. This ability is useful when Serena is traveling between lakes, or from river to river above ground.

Physical Strength: Serena is physically as strong as a dwarf or an elf. More so when submerged in water. The dryer she is, the weaker which means that when she gets extremely hot then she is very vulnerable. But when in water, she can overpower most any creature save a dragon, or a creature of similar strength.

Poisonous fangs & nails: Serena's fangs and fingernails are poisonous. These weapons; however, she only uses when forced to do so. She cannot replace a broken fang or fingernail, so these are last minute weapons that are only used in dire circumstances. The poison is a neuro and hemo toxin which temporarily paralyzes, and is very painful unless she bites on a full moon. When she bites or claws someone or something on a full moon the poison is deadly. There is only one antidote, a special type of kelp which can only be found in the caves beneath Sharktooth island on full moons. Or Serena can cure the poison which is rare.

Home Village: - Her race is nomadic, well she is being the only one left, and so she simply travels the seas, or uses underwater tunnels to get to land-locked lakes.

Parents: - Unknown, their race hatches from eggs.

Siblings: - None, as far as she can tell.

Character Personality: Serena is a very proud creature. She is the last of her race and knows it. She is also fairly reckless and brave. She has been known to take on entire ships of sailors on her own. She has a deep seated hatred of Galbatorix and possesses a strong dislike of humans. She will go out of her way to strand, drown, or cause trouble for humans. She also loves man flesh. She is cunning and sometimes hateful but Serena is not evil. She is very intelligent and attempts to use any situation to better herself and those who she aligns with at the time. As much as she hates humans, she refuses to intentionally kill a female, and will not eat a child or female. She has a strong hatred of the human males because of the way they turned and hunted her kin. For those she calls friend; Serena treats with great respect and even a type of love. Serena can be fun, as well as entertaining when the situation calls for it. Serena is not opposed to friends; however, most creatures fear her because she eats the flesh of other sentient beings. When in battle, Serena is very fierce and if she is fighting human males, she is particularly brutal. She does not fear humans because of her ability to rend most if not all incapacitated by her looks and if that fails her voice. She is extremely knowledgeable about the oceans, sub-terrain tunnels between lakes and the oceans, and even the different currents and dangers within the water.

Character History: Serena hatched a few hundred years before the fall of the riders. Her life in her younger years was spent in solitude just like all of the rest of her kind. She hatched knowing how to swim and knowing the basics of hunting. Over the years, Serena's hunting skills began to grow until she was one of the best hunters in the oceans. Life was good, and all was well. Serena lived all of these years in solitude, for it was the way of the mermaid to live alone. This helped to prevent competition for food between the aquatic beings. However, peace was not to last forever. One day when Serena was out hunting, she heard a melodious call echoing through the water. Serena immediately realized the call as one of her kin calling to any mermaid within hearing, and as well as their calls echoed through the water this was likely to be a massive meeting. Serena then began to swim toward the call and what she saw amazed her. Literally thousands of mermaids were there, all of them singing at the same time to call the rest of their race to the deep underwater valley. It was another two days before what seemed the last of their kind was in attendance, but once there an ancient mermaid began to speak. The beautiful creature said, "Many of you may remember the humans and elves that live with and work alongside the great fire lizards. Many of you have serenaded both two leg and beast with your voices. Well that ends now. I have received word that the riders as they called themselves have been attacked and are likely to fall to the hands of one called Galbatorix. This evil rider has gone too far. Not only has he upset the balance between good and evil in Alagaesia, but he has killed one of our sisters. Look!" said the mermaid as she pointed to a gray lifeless form lying on the sandy bottom of the undersea valley. Then, with one accord the mermaids unleashed a shriek that made the water around them writhe with energy. When the sound subsided, the ancient mermaid said, "This day we are at war. We will kill the human who did this; we will drag him and his fire lizard to the depths and end their reign forever. Now go, go my sisters and destroy the evil one!" said the ancient mermaid. Immediately thereafter the assembled creatures dispersed in all directions. Serena then went back to her normal life hunting, and traveling, but always on the lookout for the rider and his black dragon. It was not long; however, before she began to hear the screams of her sisters as they were killed. Galbatorix had become very strong and had ended the riders of old with his great strength, and the mermaids were becoming more and more rare. But, it was not until she saw the massive ships loaded with soldiers that Serena finally saw the true extent of the war against Galbatorix. Serena watched the ship from a distance, but even from there she could see her sisters hanging from the rails around the ship. They were dead, all of them. Serena screamed with rage. Nothing was this evil, nothing was so bold. These.... humans were actually hunting the mermaids. Serena began to swim powerfully toward the ship. The men began to shout and shoot barbed arrows at her. When the arrows became too close, the mermaid just dove deeper into the water until she was lost to the sight of the men in the murky depths. When she reappeared, Serena had a cruel idea. She popped out of the water some distance ahead and began to sing a beautiful song, one of death, and sweet revenge. The soldiers, entranced by the song directed the ship toward the mermaid. They were going toward her, heedless of all around them, and even more importantly what was below them. The ship hit the reef at full speed and a massive hole was torn in the hull of the powerful ship. That day, close to fifteen men died before they got out of the water. After the fight, Serena felt an odd urge. An urge to send a message to the remaining humans, a threat which will drive their kind from the oceans forever. The mermaid then began to feast upon the flesh of the humans who had hunted her kind. As she ate, she began to rather relish the taste, and the more the ate, the better it was until human became her preferred food source. Over the years, Serena continued to hunt for Galbatorix and his dragon, and she also attacked and caused many a ship to sink. However, after close to thirty years, she did see a massive black dragon. She spied the dragon from the water near the isle of sharktooth. The mermaid then felt a slight amount of hope. A hope that she might avenge her thousands of sisters who were slain either directly or indirectly on the orders of the king. The mermaid pulled herself out of the water and onto a rocky outcrop in the sea. She then began to sing a most wonderful song, a song to lure even the most hardened men into her grasp. As she sang, the dragon veered toward her and began to approach her. When the dragon got closer, Serena's fangs and nails elongated and she began to feel that lust for man flesh once more. Then she began to feel it. The excessive heat all around her. That inescapable fire that seemed as if it would consume her entire body. She saw the man grinning and heard the dragon roar overhead and she knew that he was using magic on her. As the heat continued, Serena's power began to wane. She could feel the heat literally sucking the life from her body, and at that moment for the first time, Serena began to cry. The beautiful creature's teardrops fell like liquid gold onto the rock and water below, and an eerie sound, like that of the death of a beloved king or queen escaped her lips. Then a screech was heard. From the depths a dozen or so Mermaids burst from the frothy waters. They screamed with rage and attacked the dragon and the man on its back. As the rest attacked, one; the ancient one Serena remembered from the first meeting pulled Serena back into the water and said, "It is time for you to flee. You must survive and show the world the great power once held by our race for we are all but extinct. You must leave." said the aged mermaid as she too attacked the dragon. By this time three of the attacking mermaids were floating lifeless in the bloody water. Serena did not waste time. The wounded mermaid fled the scene and dove deep beneath the waves and was not seen again for many years.

Weapons:
Serena's extreme strength, her poisonous fingernails, and ability to breath above and under water are her only weapons (and they are explained in skills.)

Weakness / Fear: - Drying out, and being burned.

Character's Physical Description: Serena is beautiful. There is no other word to describe her. Her race was almost wiped out by Galbatorix and that is why they have become man eaters. They are not an evil race; however, they can and do eat humans, dwarves, elves, and anything else they can overpower and drown. They have been forced to this existence because of Galbatorix's relentless hunt. Serena has dark brown hair and beautiful violet eyes. Her scales are a green color, but they only start below her belly button and go on to cover her tail which is the equivalent to a human's legs, but slightly longer. Her entire upper torso resembles a human, but she is slightly different; she is more fair than even the elves. She is very white, but not a sickly white, but more like a "holy" white, at least her upper body. Her tail is a green color and is very powerful for swimming. She has beautiful teeth, that is until she tries to use her fangs, in which case her canine teeth elongate and become much like a rattlesnake. They too are perfectly white.

Dreams for the Future: - To live for the rest of eternity (her race does not die of old age).

Reason for Dreams: - She does not want to die, and would like to continue to hunt in the seas and lakes.
