I guess we can all tie this in to the fact that, if Eragon died, for most people, it would be "too late" for them to live life to the fullest because of the sudden chain reaction of death. Then a meteor crash lands and kills all the leftover people, then the dinosaurs die, and the world evolves so humans are formed and all that junk....

Question: Why are we assuming that Eragon would teach Roran magic? If I were Eragon, and I had his personality, I would have this slightly selfish feeling that would keep me from realizing that it's important to keep the dragon riders going, and I wouldn't teach Roran anything. Then I'd die. But that's just me, I suppose we can all assume that Eragon is a selfless as they come, and he want's the best for everyone in the world! Certainly sjlsscsdoo should understand, since he knows that life isn't perfect, and people aren't perfect either.

So, to keep this topic going, i think we should go back to the fact that people WOULDN'T die if eragon died.......just so we can talk about something.....

so im reading eragon...again...to refresh my memory and i was reading towards the end when he thinks about sacrificing himself to end the urgal invasion..."If he were to kill enough to make a difference...it would probably be suicide. That might be what it took to win."...and i thought NO ERAGON DONT DO IT!!!!! YOU'LL MAKE EVERYONE ELSE DIE TOO! then i remembered that all this is 'hypothetical'

okay, well if not roran, then nobody. we have basically excluded everybody else from being rider, so that means 3rd egg is going to be destroyed, which means no dragons left in alagaesia.......everybody goes to battle galbatorix (which is where shruikan and galbatorix die) but when all hope is lost, some weird dragons from some other place come and defeat galbatorix

yeah. i rly want to see a map of everything, the whole world of everything in the book.....but of course that wont happen, cuz cp probly doesnt even have an idea for a whole world, just maybe alagaesia and a couple of other places for the elves, humans, and urgals to come from.....

Yeah...that's one thing I don't like--uncertainty. In the world I've created, I drew the outermost boundaries of the continent of Cellestiem so that there wouldn't be any confusion. I hate being confused. Heehee.

YES!!! He's taking a little boat ride and falls off the edge of the world, and when he dies, he finds the world where all the dragons are! It's spectacular!

well, actually i was thinking that he was riding on saphira and then got sucked into a vortex at the end of the world, but that works too....

Seriously, it doesn't really matter HOW he falls off the end of the world, just that he does fall off and die. THat's what's important...his death...Eragon dying...and stuff......

yeah.....and then poor saphira will die, and then thorn will die, and then eventually glaedr will die, and there will be no hope for the dragons....




until the dragons from other lands come, eradicate the humans and the elves, and live in peace with the dwarves like in the ol' days.....

Then the dwarves get bored because they have no one to fight and then they go to eradicate the dragons just for fun. BUT the elves come from the west again and eradicate the dwarves, then the dragons get angry, because they wanted to eradicate the dwarves, so they eradicate the elves, and then they are eradicated because they have no food. So there is much eradication.

then no one is left......so whats the fun in that?




oh, maybe the humans come back and get eaten up by the urgals, who take over alagaesia and rule it (even though theres no "it" to rule) with an iron fist.....

Then they eradicate themselves because the iron fist was too heavy. So the elvish and Dwarven gods get together and create a new race called dwelves.

wait, dont the elves not have gods? so maybe the dwarven gods and the human gods get togethere and creat dwumans......hahaha, that sounds funny.....

Well, just because they don't believe in the gods doesn't mean they don't exist. What about the Greek and Roman religions? They believed in gods that don't exist. And atheists don't believe in a God that DOES exist. So just because they're in a fantasy world, it doesn't mean that they're beliefs are automatically correct. Am I making any sense at all?

Yeah, neither did I until I started creating my own world (Cellestiem). I was creating gods for the dwarves and gods for the elves, then I was like "hmm...they can't both be right!" So I decided that the elven gods were the true gods and the dwarves believed in Mastagna, who was also an elven god, but had tons of others that weren't real.

I never realized how difficult it is to create a bunch of religions for different races and have them coexist in the same world.

haha, yeah.....thats why ive never really attempted to create another world.....ill stick to using real locations.....well, not rly, i guess, cuz i never tell you where Simon and Selah and Shiloh are at the beginning. I just say its a beach......so its like creating a new world without actually having to create one.....

Well, you didn't create a world so much as created a setting. If you had created a world, you would have mentioned that fact.

true, very true.....but yeah, i have so much going on that i rly dont have the time to sit down and think of countries, history, religion, etc. for a whole world.....i mean, the work and imagination that must take! wow!

Believe me, it takes a ton of time, thought, and creativity. I currently have a full Staples notebook of information (about 120 pages) and I have begun a second volume. I also have a plethora of maps and a English-to-Elvish dictionary. I also have a few short stories that take place in that world, as well as the novella I'm working on. It's pretty intense.

There are a ton of gods that I haven't even discussed yet in my notebooks, a bunch of events that I haven't thought out, and hundreds of small villages I haven't mapped yet. There are about 30 some-odd kingdoms and over 15 realms, all in four countries: Lastaag, Rallmorae, Taenovon, and Rebellos. These countries, when put together, form the continent of Cellestiem. Each country has a capital city, and at least ten kingdoms each.

And I haven't even gotten started discussing it. I could go on for hours, but I won't.

Talk about intense! It's taken me more than a year and a half to come up with all that.

I hope it will. Right now I try to keep it under the radar, since I get laughed at and teased if I tell anyone, and I really don't like that. Thus, I usually don't tell anyone about its existance.

Well, first of all, that would totally shatter everyone's concept of the relationship a dragon has to its rider.

Hey! I just thought of something that made me angry: If CP is trying to make dragons and humans equals, then why can the human survive without the dragon, but the dragon can't survive without the rider? That just kind of makes it seem like the humans are the mentally and emotionally superior race.

hmmmm, maybe, or maybe its cuz dragons are more mentally attached to a human than a human is to a dragon. cuz human existed before dragon, but dragon couldnt exist without human......

But how can there be an unequal attachment? It just doesn't seem right to me. I say that CP should change that concept!

It's just an interview with CP but he says that Dragon can live without their riders. That whole thing was just something made up by Hollywood, or whoever made that accursed awful movie.

I get shudders of revulsion everytime I think of that movie! It was horrible, but I feel bad for this Kingsley guy. First time, and it was a major flop!

first, i would like to state that the fact that a dragon can't live without his rider IS NOT a fact made up by the movie, it IS ACTUALLY IN THE BOOK!

The problem there, though it's a good idea, is that Saphira and Eragon are both newish in dragon-riding related things. Thus, no matter what potential power they have, Saphira isn't skilled enough to sever that connection. Thus, she would probably die too. But if you feel really strongly about your theory, then we could change it so that Saphira survives.

well, im just saying that if eragon did get enough training, he could do that.....cuz remember, we got two more long books to have more training in, so maybe he could figure out how to do that.......before oromis dies of course.......

well, if eragon did die and saphira didnt, then saphria would carry eragons body off to some other land (somewhat fulfilling the other prediction) and then she would stay there in sorrow and grief until other dragons from another land came and then shed be happy again and mate and then theyd go back to alagaesia and repopulate the earth....yay.

But if the Eragon story is following the Star Wars format as it has been, then Oromis--who represents yoda--will die before Eragon can complete his training with him.

Well redundancy is a sign that we haven't come up with anything new, and therefore we've run out of steam.

oh......well, if eragon died, arya would take his place with the new dragon, be stronger than eragon, defeat galbatorix, and everybody lives in peace.......or, she could be destroyed as well, murtagh turns to good for no apparent reason at all (only after backstabbing galbatorix, of course), and then everybody lives in peace......

why: Shruikan or Thorn kills him

I think I'd rather have him die at the hands of Shruikan than Thorn, and in an epic battle on top of Urubaen.

yeah, or maybe murtagh sees eragon die at the hands of galbatorix and murtagh decides to kill galbatorix......

But that becomes too much like Star Wars. Maybe, Eragon is forced to kill Murtagh, but they both kill each other, and Thorn and Saphira follow suit.

yeah, and then galbatorix kills himself just because hes crazy and evil.....but shruikan lives on (cuz shruikan isn't technically galbatorix's dragon) and shruikan rules the world in a reign of evil until the next eragon comes along......

But that Eragon isn't as powerful, and he dies before he even gets to fight Shruikan.

and then some weirdo named Jzethek comes along and actually defeats shruikan but is even eviler than shruikan......

So if Eragon dies, Saphira will die too...Arya will be grief stricken and kill Shruiken. Galby will want a new dragon and go after Gleadr. Oromis will kill him. Murtagh will take the throne, and Orik will poke him. Murtagh dies of a heart attack right after the poke. W00t! Orik! XD
