 A Braw Day!OOC: Open to anyone, I am RPGing in this one with Gavin. To clear things up, what he says is not a lot of mispelled words, he has a Highland Scottish accent, and as I RPG with him, I should get better with ist, if there are any questions about what he is saying just ask!
IC: Gavin flapped his monsterous wings over Vroengard. He had claimed the isle as his own. It was just the right temperature, it was cold enough to keep him comfortable, and the animals of the island were more than just a simple chalange to hunt and kill. The gigantic bird soared high over the island until he saw something eh had never seen before. It was a large thing that was folating over the water toward "his" island. He flapped toward the "it" and as he neared it, he saw many small humans runnign about the ship, goign too and fro doing some jobs on the "it". He screeched loudly and said, Auch! Who aier ye that ye air out on such a braw day, how deer ye approach the great laird Gavin! Turn ye back this instant an I'll let ye live tae see another day such as this! screeched the Roc at the shipmen on the boat. Re: A Braw Day! Abrza flew over the island Vroengard. The islands had always interested her, for some reason. It was probably because she was never at one of them before. She didn't care why she was interested in them, she just knew she was. She continued flying, trying to feed her raving curiosity.
Out of the blue, she noticed a boat. Not long after, she noticed a strange creature yelling at it. She wanted to fly down and see what was going on, but knew it would be unwise. The creature could try to kill her for all she knew. The fanghur wasn't about to go down there and fight if she had anything to say about it. Re: A Braw Day! Gavin's dangerous temperature was wearign thin. The men did not turn back, but instead they began to come forward with more speed than before. Gavin's anger built and he attacked. He said, Auch ye ha made a bad mistake on this day, I'll tier yer bones from ye skin, and I'll rip ye tae shreds, ye will rue tha day ye insulted tha braw laird Gavin! screeched the Roc as he swooped at the ship and its sailors. The soldiers on the ship, however were well prepaired, as well as armed. They shot arrows at Gavin and even used some magic to drive him back. The grear Roc screeched angrily and swooped at the ship, attacking the sail and rippign it from the boat. He then was about to come around and attack it again, when he saw a small dragon-like creature. He roounded upon it and screeched a warning, saying, Auch, I am the laird Gavin, what business ha ye here? I'm askin ye tae leave whil I giv ye tha chance, will ye do as I say, or will ye perish under my great power as they shall?

Re: A Braw Day! I mean you no harm, Gavin, Abrza said, My name is Abr zar'rac. I was simply curious what the islands were like. She thought for a moment, wondering how she could get this creature to allow her to explore the island further. Then, an idea came to her mind. Why not just use a mental screech at the boat? It would probably make them go away, and if they did, she figured Gavin wouldn't care if she did a little exploring of her own.
Gavin, She began, I have a proposition for you. I'll help scare off these people, but only if you allow me to explore the island. Decide now, for your life may depend on it. On the inside, Abrza was really taking into consideration what Gavin said. He said, Auck, I'm sorry, I've a problem, I get vere angry an I canna do anythin bout it, I hope I didnae offend ye, but I was just protectin what was mine. said the Roc with a sad face. He looked at the dragon and said, Aye, I'll enjoy som help, but what can such a wee barin do gainst weapons such as theirs?

Re: A Braw Day! You'd be surprised what a fanghur can do to scare people off, Abrza said. Had she used her mental screech yet today? After a few moments of thinking, she remember that she had not. She swooped down towards the boat. The people began shooting arrows at her. She dodged them as best as she could, and let out a roar to scare them. An arrow hit her belly area. She cried out in pain. She had thought just her very presence would scare them. Apparently she would have to take drastic measures.
She eased up her mind, letting her barriers around it tumble down. She stayed still for a moment, and then with all of her mental strength, she screeched. It was very piercing, and she saw several of the humans on the boat pass out automatically. Re: A Braw Day! Gavin screeched in pain when a screech went off inside of his head. He immediately went on the attack, hsi powerful claws and wings working together to lift the "it" out of the water. He began to haul the boat higher and higher into the air, until the soldiers had all leapt out of it, then with a sigh, he dropped the massive weight. He screeched again as two large dark shapes appeared on the horizon. They were dragons as best the Roc could tell, one was black and much larger than the other, and the other was small and red. He screeched angrily and said, I'll not have ye coming tae my home! Get ye away afore I keel ye! screeched the Roc as he flapped to meet the two dark shapes.

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza opened her eyes. She saw Gavin lifting a boat, and all of the passengers jumping out. She landed quickly, looking up at him. She followed his gaze, wondering what he was looking at. Then, she spotted it, or them, rather. Two dark shapes filled the sky. One was black, the other was red. Both were much larger than her. They must have been dragons...
Gavin, no! Re: A Braw Day! Gavin turned back on Abrza, saying, Auch, yer not sayin that te think that I'm weak are ye? screeched the Roc threateningly to the small dragon-like creature. He flapped powerfully over the water toward the two dragons and saw that there were people on the backs fo the dragons. He screeched angrily and gave them no warning. He hurtled through the air at the smaller red one and tore at it with his claws, tipping through scale, and muscle alike, then Gavin felt something on his side, the black dragon was burnign him! He squawked oddly and flapped away, circling for another attack.

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza was about to scream in protest, but the roc had already flown off at the dragons. She by the dragons and the roc, saying things like Stop this pointless violence!, Why are you doing this?!, and STOP IT!!!. She saw them keep on going. She kept on yelling, trying to stop them without getting involved. Nothing was happening.
Finally, the fanghur realized her yelling wasn't going to help anything. She targeted the minds of the dragons and their riders, preparing to screech so loud they'd be paralyzed for a few minutes. She closed her eyes, pushing herself into the minds of the dragons and riders. With every ounce of her strength, she screeched into their minds. It was about three times as loud and paralyzing as the last screech. IC: Solarae growled as she saw Thorn and Shruikan fly out over the ocean. They had not detected her, but she had seen them. Where are you off to? she thought suspiciously. Her orange wings rose from her back and she bolted off into the air, trailing behind the two pairs of slime-ridden snakes. She didn't like being near the ocean or water that much, not being a particularly advanced swimmer or fisher, but she was alright with it enough to go out on business. And this was business, alright. This just keeps getting more and more interesting, she thought with one raised eye-ridge as the rest of the scene came into view. The mad king and his new rider were heading to Vroengard, where a battle was already taking place. A gigantic, snow-colored roc had a large ship dangling from his talons, and a tiny dragon-like form flew nearby. Solarae peered more closely at it. The scales were of duller color, the body more serpentine... it was a fanghur! Suddenly, the evil dragons swooped for the attack, and Solarae frowned. This pair didn't stand much of a chance; neither had magical ability save the fanghur's screech. And those feathers could burn easily. She decided to help. Hey scum-wads! We've met before! she cried out as she flashed in, a swift, fiery shape in the air. A huge cloud of fire erupted from her jaws and swarmed over Thorn and Murtagh quite unexpectedly, and she saw the magic barrier come up just a little late. Ha! Let's see what ya' got! Bring it! she called to her enemies with glee. A sudden mental screech almost jolted her out of flight, but she closed off her mind quickly. The fanghur had brutally attacked the minds of the dragons and riders, and they were recoiling with pain. The fanghur was falling from the sky. Ah! Mister roc! Please catch her as I am of unsufficient size! IC: Gavin screeched annoyedly at the orange dragon when she asked him to rescue the other dragon-like thing. He sighed audibly and dove after Abrza. He closed hsi wings and dove after the small dragon thing and caught it in his powerful claws before it hit the water below. Right before he hit the water, he snapped open his wings and flapped to get higher than the black and red dragons, then, once more he attacked. He hurtled out of the air at the dragons and partially landed on the back of the black dragon. He screeched angrily and asked, Auch why do ye dare tae face me! I am tha great laird Gavin, and ye will remember it tae ye are dead! screeched the powerful Roc at the evil dragons and their mounts. _________________ Role-Playing Characters: Ara The dragon of illusion.  IC: Abrza felt herself being caught, and then set down. She opened her eyes. She found herself safely on the ground, Gavin, and now an addition fanghur-sized orange dragoness helping out in the battle. She could feel her strength regaining, little by little. Still, she wasn't going to get up and fight for as long as she possibly could. She kept her eyes on the battle, not wanting to miss a second of it. She couldn't do anything to help them now, as she had used both of her screeches. Almost automatically, the fanghur lightly pushed herself into the orange dragoness's mind. Hi, my name is Abr zar'rac, friends call me Abrza. Pleased to meet you. By the way, sorry for interrupting you in the middle of a fight, it's kind of a force of habit... IC: Solarae laughed at the annoyed look the roc got when he obliged her request. Well, he can't expect me to catch her, she thought with a laugh. My name's Solarae, guys, she said quickly before she completely forgot her manners. She flew swiftly back to the evil dragons and riders. Thorn and Murtagh were sinking in the air, obviously having a great deal of trouble recovering from Abrza's attack. Galbatorix and Shruikan, however, were hovering menacingly. Solarae darted underneath them, knowing that if she was in the dark king's sight, she could easily be injured by some powerful magic. IC: Gavin nodded toward Solarae and said, Tis nice tae meet ye, but what is such a wee barin doin out here wi such enemies such as these, ye need tae go back tae yer family, I'll handle these two. said the Roc to the small orange dragoness as he once again dodged the fire of the black dragon. He knew that to kill the dragon would make the riders practically useless, but he had never faced an opponent that rivaled him in size, as well as strength. Also, if too many of his feathers were burned, he could lose hsi ability of flight, so he had to be careful. He soared high, high above the clouds, and directly in front of the Sun to blind his opponents, then dove swiftly, only to lock talons and beak with the jaws and claws of the black dragon. Re: A Braw Day! Abrza stared up at the fight with disgust. She could understand where Gavin and Solarae were coming from, but not the four that they were fighting. She noticed that the red dragon was still having trouble recovering from her mental attack. She hurled herself into his mind, battling it out like that. It was the only kind of fighting she exactly approved of. The dragon's mind was strong, but she was determined to be stronger. She was also determined to stay hidden, so they couldn't find her and try to kill her. She continued to fight with the red's mind, so one of her friends could attack him.

IC: Solarae growled irritably when Gavin, like most of the new people she met, assumed she was a young dragon. Gah! I'm over 600 years old, okay! I'm just really small! she called back, still battering at Shruikan. She saw the roc diving out of the sky toward him, and swooped away. The two large creatures locked together in a rough, physical fight, but she saw Galbatorix raise a wall of fire and send it pulsing out toward the roc. By this time, however, she was already assaulting the much-smaller Thorn. The poor young dragon was obviously engaged in mental combat, and it was clear he had still not recovered from the earlier attack. Solarae felt bad for him, but he was still an enemy. She sent an enormous cloud of fire toward him. The flames were much hotter than a normal dragon's, and Murtagh had barely enough time to shield them from the fire. However, he had underestimated the heat, and Thorn screeched in pain as he reeled backward. Abrza! Re: A Braw Day! Gavin merely grunted in acknowledgement to Solarae's statement. He was far too busy trying to deal with the fire of the rider. The black dragon's rider seemed to be skilled with fire magic, because the Roc was forced to break away from the black dragon and attempt to didge the fire from both of them. He decieded to draw them into a place more suitable for one of his size, as well as agility compared to the dragon. He dove past the rider and dragon, however while flying past, he reached out with one of his talons and left a nasty jagged cut on the side of the dragon. He screeched angrily and flew on, back to Vroengard and to the tall forest there.

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza felt out of place as soon as Solarae asked her to come up and fight with them. I'm a er- pacifist. I don't really fight... She said, looking down. She let the battling of hers and the red dragon's minds stop. That was just enough time for it to tell it's rider where she was. They left the orange dragoness behind, and dove towards the fanghur. They stopped in front of her, and the dragon breathed a strong stream of fire at her. She dodged, hissing.
The dragon swiped it's claws at her. They hit her side, cutting into her deeply. She jumped up, snarling. A tail smacked her face, and she was on the ground. The dragon was over top of her in no time. She had to move her head several times so it was not bitten off by the big red dragon. Finally, she realized that she would not get out alive if some fighting didn't take place. Oh it is soooo on now... She said lowly. She jumped up from the big dragon's grip. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae rolled her eyes at the fanghur. I meant with your mind! Gah! she cried as Thorn dove after Abrza, having found her location. Solarae pelted after, but a spell from Murtagh propelled her back a short distance. The orange roared and dove once more. Thorn was standing over Abrza, trying to attack her. The fanghur had apparently decided to start fighting back, for which Solarae was grateful. Pacifist or not, you need to keep your own hide safe in a fight.
The fiery dragon swooped low and darted under Thorn's belly, raking it with fire-laced talons. He roared and reared up in the air as he jerked himself away. Solarae flipped herself back upright and darted back toward his neck, dodging a snap of his jaws and giving him a good slash across the muzzle. She flapped away a short distance and then let out an enormous, super-heated cloud of flame over Abrza's head and straight toward the red dragon. He jerked back again, beating his wings as he prepared to take flight. C'mon! He'll be easy to drive away, he's almost finished with us! Re: A Braw Day! Gavin screeched annoyedly when Solarae said that he could not get away from the spells in the trees. He instead shanged course, heading to Doru Areaba, the place where he had firse landed here. It was a powerful place, that much he knew, he only hoped the power would help him. He landed in the midst of the ruins and waited, his wait was not long, for the large black dragon was not far behind him. The black dragon growled threateningly at Gavin, but waited as his rider climbed off of his back. The rider stepped forward and said, "Hello, master Roc. I am called Galbatorix, I come to you with an offer. Fight for me, or perish. I do not care which, but with your strength and skill, you would be a great fighter." said the man as he stared into the fierce eyes of the giant bird. Gavin screeched angrily and flapped his powerful wings. He said, I am not yer servent that ye may tell me what tae do. Now, I'll give ye this offer, leave now, or die. Ye ken that I can kill ye from here, and I am about tae lose my patience!

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza roared and swooped down at the rider on the dragons back. The rider was too distracted to notice her coming. She smacked him off of the red dragon with her tail. Then, she jumped onto the back of the red dragon, and started clawing at his neck scales. She was quickly flung off, but she got up just as fast and flew to the dragon's belly. She did as Solarae did, and tore at the belly with her talons. Blood started pouring all over the black and green fanghur, and she almost threw up with disgust.
She flew back up into the sky, preparing to peck the red's eyes out. But as the rider was about to get back onto the dragon, she started raging through his mind, paralyzing him. But the rider's mind protection was strong. She was pushed out in a few moments, but she was still working to drive them away. She started her rampage through the dragon's mind for a second, to show she meant business. His flapping increased, and soon they were off the ground. What are their names again? She gingerly asked Solarae. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae blasted fire in Thorn's face as Murtagh was knocked off his back by Abrza. The dragon roared and jerked his back to dislodge the fanghur, but she only moved to his stomach. Solarae continued attacking his face to distract him, for his claws were easily within reach of killing Abrza. The orange darted from side to side as Thorn's teeth snapped at her, and simply shot around him, scratching and clawing at his head and swiping with her bloodstained tailblade. She glanced at Abrza when she asked for the names of the pair. The dragon is Thorn, his rider Murtagh. They work at the side of the evil king Galbatorix, she spat, her voice filled with contempt for the pair. Another cloud of flame erupted over them, and Thorn staggered back. The young dragon was having a very hard time coping with the onslaught.

Re: A Braw Day! Gavin flapped his powerful wings so hard, that he knocked the man from his feet, but them man only began to laugh then he mumbled some words that Gavin did not understand. Then, the ground beneath jim erupted into a large flame. Gavin was taken by suprise and squawked awkwardly and took to the air. He said, I've had enough of ye! Now, say yer prayers, for tha great laird Gavin will take ye tae yer ancestors! screeched the angry old Roc as he dove at the man. However, the large black dragon leapt from front og the man and blocked Gavin's attack. Then, instead of pulling away, Gavin latched his powerful talons into the back of the dragon and began to flap hard to pull the dragon into the air.

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza nodded at Solarae. I have an idea, She said, I'll fight Thorn with my mind, and you can fight him. Then, it will make your job easier, and it will make me feel much more comfortable. She didn't bother waiting for Solarae to agree, and flung herself into Thorn's mind. This time, the dragon had built up a wall. It was small and pathetic. The fanghur smashed it with only a little effort. She started rummaging through the dragon's memories while fighting him, trying to learn as much as possible. What she saw disturbed her dearly, and she decided not to look at anymore memories.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae paused for a second before shaking her head. The so-called idea that Abrza had suggested was Solarae's original plan... she decided not to worry about it and instead focused on her part. She darted toward Thorn's chest and swiped at him once with her deadly-sharp talons before flapping away. He was not fast enough to catch her, and she was also too fast for Murtagh's spells.
She flew in once more and latched on to the dragon's side under his wing, out of reach of his claws and the rider's spells and attacks. She dug in with her claws and began ripping and hacking with her teeth and tailblade, which suddenly burst into flame. Gavin began to succeed in hsi attempt to pul the black dragon into the air, and then drop it on some rocks below to pretty much kill it, until the dragon and the man both used their powers to burn him. He screeched angrily and flew away. He soared high, as well as fast, until he was well above the clouds and saw the red dragon, Abrza, and Solarae fighting, so he decieded to leave the black dragon and its rider alone for now, because they had figured out his weakness, fire and attacked the younger rider and dragon.

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza did not hold back on Thorn with her mental assault. The red dragon was almost at the point where he couldn't move at all. His rider was too busy trying to defend his dragon from the physical to help with the mental, and he wasn't doing a very good job at it.
Abrza couldn't react to Gavin's showing up, as she was too busy. Thorn was starting to get better at resisting her. Re: A Braw Day! Thorn was trying desperately to get away from the assault. The combined efforts of Abrza's mental attack, Solarae's extremely painful fire, and Gavin's sheer size and strength, were proving too much for him and Murtagh. They were not experienced enough or powerful enough. Solarae grinned as they began to retreat, Thorn flapping his wings and backing away from the other two as he shook his head painfully. Solarae kept herself latched onto his side to make sure he left completely. Once they drove out these two, they could all gang up on Galbatorix. No doubt the mad king could kill them all, but not without great risk to himself and his own life. He'd probably leave and send in some soldiers to deal with them.

Re: A Braw Day! Gavin screeched his battlecry as they drove the small red dragon and its rider away from his island. The red dragon was bleeding, with three long furrows in its back. Complements of the giant claws of Gavin as the red began to flee. Then he turned to see the large black dragon and its rider flying toward them. They were moving very fast and both of them looked angry. The rider had his blade raised and his other hand free, in something like a fist, with which, he hurled something red at Gavin. The Roc screeched angrily and swerved around the projectile. He said, I am tired wi this game, I want tae put him in hi grave afore he can harm any more o my island!

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza waited until it seemed as if Thorn was going to leave to pull out of his mind. She turned. There, was Galbatorix and he was riding a black dragon. She didn't ask for the dragon's name. She didn't want to know it. All she knew was that a great evil energy flowed off of the two. She stared them down, waiting to see who would make the first move. Solarae and Gavin probably would do the same thing they did, and she would break into the black dragon's mind.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae roared and jumped off Thorn as he flew, breathing a last gout of flame onto him. A huge, ugly wound, barely perceivable as flesh, was on his side. His scales were melted into his skin, and long bloody furrows, also burned and melted, ran in crisscross patterns on it. That would take a huge effort to heal without a scar.
Solarae turned back and saw that Galbatorix and Shruikan were headed toward her new friends. She roared again, and hurtled towards them, with no regard for safety or the fanghur and roc. At the last second, she twirled down and slashed Shruikan's wing-membrane with her tailblade, leaving a long tear. She twisted herself around and flew under him, out of Galbatorix's sight. Shruikan swiped and slashed at her, but she was older and more experienced than the black, and was too agile for his attacks. Re: A Braw Day! Gavin watched as the black dragon and rider came toward them. He could not take them alone, but with the help of these two, maybe he could. He screeched defiantly and flew toward the evil pair. He squawked angrily and pecked at the rider, who managed to dodge the huge beak as Gavin flew past the black dragon.

Still, this did not hamper her assault by much. She could see the dragon's past before her eyes. She felt bad for him, but this did not stop her from ravaging through his mind. He served evil. And for his own good, he had to be chased away.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae saw Gavin fly past Shruikan from above, attacking at him. Abrza was farther away, deep in concentration on her mental attack. Looks like I get close-range. Heheheh, Solarae said to herself with a rather devious grin. She darted in towards the black dragon once more, avoiding his claw-swipes. She got under his wing on his side, where she had been on Thorn, and attacked powerfully with claws and tailblade, all on fire. She flew out again after the brief attack, but it had been a strong one. The wound was ugly and deep, though not very wide or long. She flew in again and slashed quickly above Shruikan's hips as she passed, flying under his wing and out of Galbatorix's sight.

Re: A Braw Day! OOC: Now that the battle is in full swing, here comes the "meat" of teh story, here is where Galbatorix and his crew suddenly dissappear, and Gavin begins to hunt them. Which is the main part of the storyline, it will take Abrza, Solarae, and Gavin through the islands and will stop on the Western edge of the Empire, on the coast.
IC: Gavin screeched happily as Shruikan was injured by the orange dragoness. He took that chance to finally land on the back of the injured dragon and finally finish them, but just as his powerful talons sunk into the back of the black dragon, the skin beneath his powerful claws seemed to dissappear into nothingness. Gavin squawked nervously and asked, What trickery is this? I have neer seen such as this afore. Abrza, what happened? however just as he finished his sentence, the dark words of the rider spoke. "Hahahaha, well you have done, fanghur, Roc, dragon, however your efforts are futile. Our powers are beyond what you think. All you fought was an illusion, and all you saw was untrue. You will yet fall to our dark power, all three of you." said the dark voice of the man. Gavin stared in wonderment at the raw power of their enemies then the voice spoke once more, it said, "Our illusions have entertained you long enough, for we have already gained what we wanted as you were fighting nothing." laughed the voice as it dissappeared into nothingness. Gavin screeched angrily when he saw that he had been fooled and said, Auch, if we were not fighting them, then what has been happening, they must be skilled in the arcane arts, tae do as they have. _________________ Role-Playing Characters: Ara The dragon of illusion. Re: A Braw Day! We have to find them! Yelled Abrza. She would not allow herself to stop hunting them down. Many deaths would be caused by those four if they weren't put to a stop. Still, she couldn't help but feel stupid. She fell right into their trap. She had always thought of herself as extremely smart for her race. She was, of course, but falling victim to their magic made her feel like the very dumbest of her race.
Abrza shook her head, as if she was trying to get any magic that was around her away. So... We fly? Re: A Braw Day! Solarae let out a frustrated roar, her fire briefly exploding outwards and dissipating into the air. I thought their blood tasted too fake. Where are you, you traitorous egg-breaking cowards?! she screeched into the air, You've fought me before! Are you afraid to fight me again?! Were you too intimidated by our last encounter, eh, Galby?! Solarae was unbelievably angry. She had been itching to face these four again since the big fight in Uru'baen, when she and her friends had attacked the city in full force but had been driven back. It had never been finished for her. It had started with her parents' deaths, and could only end with the death of Galbatorix and his puppets. She glanced at Gavin. Oh yes, Galbatorix (the man on the black dragon), he is the mad king of this land. He is very skilled with magic, and extroardinarily powerful because of hundreds of magical devices he has, that give him energy. Shruikan is his dragon, enslaved when his mind was broken. Murtagh and the red dragon Thorn were also enslaved when their true names were discovered by the king. Now they rule this land in terror, and it is my wish to kill them. Yours too, now, it seems, she explained, sensing that this roc was a newcomer to Alagaesia.
She looked at Abrza when the fanghur spoke of going after them. Yes, we will fly. We will track them down. They are away from their little city, and at a very low level of protection. It's the perfect opportunity! Let's go! Re: A Braw Day! Abrza was not very surprised at hear Gavin's response. Still, even after that battle they just went through, she still remembered the roc's promise. Do not forget... She said, I am coming back here to explore, just as I first intended. You promised me that. She kept a serious gaze in his eye. Then, with a few flaps of her wings, flew up beside Solarae.
I hope I don't have to do another mental screech today... She stated. Then, she realized what she said sounded suspicious. It takes quite some energy, she lied. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae shook her head at Gavin. I'm not going to force you into anything you don't want to do, but I can't say I understand your thoughts. Galbatorix attacked you, and I'm sure that if there were more rocs in Alagaesia, he would enslave or kill them like he did most dragons. He is evil, and now is a good chance to attack. You can come or not, but I want to take advantage of the situation before he gets back to his city, she said, hovering anxiously and watching the direction the king had been. She glanced at Abrza when the fanghur spoke. I'm sure you won't have to attack again today. If we do find Galbatorix or his minions, it won't be for a while, either because they're leaving or because they want to lure us into a trap, Solarae replied.

Rocs are far harder to break mentally than dragons, he will never enslave my kind, firstly since he can only get to me on his dragon, which I have already beaten... said the Roc as he began to rant aobut how much more powerful Rocs are than any other race in Alagaesia. Then he looked at the burned spot on his feathers and saw that he was in pain. It took him a short time, then he slowly came to the idea that he should attack this human and dragon again. He looked at the dragon ang fanghur and said, I have an idea, if that rider is somewhere around here, then why not attack his home and wait on him! said the Roc, who was glad to be the smartest in the group, even though he would never have realized it were it not for the orange dragoness. He began to fly toward the mainland then asked, Hey, where is his home anyway?

It was not really a good idea, trying to find their home. There, they'd have many advantages over them. They'd be much more likely to hunt them down by following where they had heard their minds. She told Gavin of her concerns. She didn't think he would see her reasoning, though, because he seemed very stubborn.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae just barely stopped herself from laughing out loud when Gavin said that rocs were much harder to break mentally than dragons. Well, if he's anything to go by... she thought with a small snort. He continued, finally coming to another idea that seemed completely ridiculous. She shook her head. Unfortunatly, Galbatorix is not like other enemies. His home is guarded by thousands of soldiers and magic-users, with powerful weapons and enough firepower to kill us a hundred times over. Not to mention all the magical traps and wards that would get us first. That's why I suggested we go after them now. Because now, they are away from all the wards and soldiers and magic, so they are vulnerable. Also, if they get back to the city of Uru'baen, which is their home, they will have an almost unlimited energy source to work their own magic. A roc, a fanghur, and one dragon wouldn't stand a chance. Believe me, I joined with a small army of dragons, riders, and other creatures in an attack on the city, and we were not able to defeat them, Solarae explained, choosing her words carefully and enunciating every point. Gavin seemed stubborn, and his ideas not educated about the true nature of Galbatorix. If he didn't understand the danger he was in, he could be killed.

Yer not sayin that im weak are ye? asked the Roc who was getting slightly angry, not just at them, but at himself for thinking he had come up with such a good idea, but had only made himself look foolish. He then calmed himself down slightly and said, I am sorry, I cannae help it. I have a problem, I can be happy, as happy as a lark, but I get mad easy. said the Roc as he turned back to the others and asked again, How will we find them. said the Roc who still did not really believe them but knew that he could not do it alone.

I'm not exactly sure how we'll find them, but since they were here, I'm going to assume they flew to another one of the islands, Abrza said to Gavin, And they already have some distance made between us and them, and it's gaining by the second! Re: A Braw Day! Solarae shook her head at the roc. Hey, I know you're a strong dude, no worries. It's just, all the strength you have would never be enough to face off against all of Uru'baen's defenses. Even a small army of dragons and magic-users could not do it. And I agree with Abrza, let's head out. Once we get close enough, I'm sure I can pick up their scents. It'd be hard not to be able to smell that stench, the orange said with a grin. She hastened after the fanghur, keeping her nostrils wide for any trace of the mad-king's smell, or that of his minions/slaves. Her mind was also cast out for traces of them, if they were nearby.

Re: A Braw Day! Gavin snorted and flew after the other two, flying much higher and using his mose effective sense, sight to look far ahead of them to see what lay before them. He saw some islands in the distance, but they were miles away, however, it was likely the rider had used magic to help the dragon to get there faster, if, in fact they had gone to the other islands. Gavin asked again, How can he use that magic, were it not for that, I woud have kiled them both, well were I not tricked by tha cowardly two! said the Roc as he flew fast as well as high to try to catch sight of their enemies.

IC: Abrza remained silent. At the mention of magic, she shut up. It was magic that took over her body when she lost confidence. It was magic that had been used to kill her parents. It was magic that cursed her. She didn't resent magic itself, but the people that used it against her, and anyone else who might be in her position. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae flew in the middle of the group, her senses on alert. She eyed the fanghur as she flew rather strangely, but turned to look up at the roc when he spoke. If they did not have magic, they would not have been able to take over Alagaesia in the first place. Hey, if their magic was halved I bet they would've gotten beat a long time ago. But we just have to deal with the strength they have, and hope it doesn't get more powerful, the small dragoness replied with a decisive snort.

Re: A Braw Day! Gavin listened to the orange dragoness absentmindedly as he flew, for he had already seen something. It was a rather large creature, almost bigger than Gavin himself. It looked much like a serpent, or maybe a dragon, however instead of being on land, or in the air as a dragon or snake would, the creature writhed in the water, just beneath the surface. It moved about swiftly, and silently through the water, as if it were chasing some fish, then it was revealed to him. It was not a snake, it was different. It had only one head, but it had four powerful webbed feet, and a reasonably long tail that could easily be used to propell it through the water. He looked at it and asked, Ha either o ye seen such a beast, I don ken (ken is his way of saying "Know") wa it is. said teh Roc as he flapped hesitantly at the sheer power and size of the monster.
Circe chased after the large scool of fish, tuna in the seas near her home. Tuna did not normally scool in seas this shallow and preferred to be out in the deep chasams of the oceans, so they were a special treat, something that Circe did not see, but on the rarest of occasions, so she hunted them. She swam after the powerful, as well as fast fish, her webbed feet and tail churning the water to get at the fish until she saw the creatures above her. She stared, mouth agape at the Roc above her. It was majestic, it was powerful, and most of all, it was a threat. She worshiped their kind, but Rocs were large, powerful, but also very territorial. Circe hissed aloud and dove beneath the surface and watched the dragon, fanghur, and Roc as they flew above. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae caught a strange scent a few moments before Gavin spoke. It was like a mixture of snake, dragon, and fish. She noticed the beast far below and let out a small growl. When the roc spoke, she shook her head. I haven't spent much time around the ocean, but that creature looks like a threat to me. No sense in bothering it, she replied, watching the beast through narrowed, suspicious eyes. She saw its gaze turn towards them, and bared her teeth slightly. She wouldn't take anything from this creature, and if it decided to bother them, she'd have a few things to say. But if it left them alone, she wouldn't bother attacking. They had a job to do, and as fun as a fight with such a creature might be, she couldn't waste any time in such a venture.

He was not afraid of a fight, but no sense in getting into something that he may, or may not be able to handle, besides, it was probably just heading back to the deep depths of the ocean, and he would never see it again. He said, Auch, lets leave tha beastie alone. Itl be no problem, long as I'm with ye. Say, lets get some hunting don on the next island we come to. I'm gettin hungry. said the Roc, who was glad to get his mind off of the monster and on something more important, his stomach.
Circe slowly swam through the ocean after the three flying creatures. Re: A Braw Day! Anyway, we can't take our eyes off the prize, Abrza said, We still have to catch up to those evil-doers! She was glad that eyes were not fixed on her belly, but on the creature below them. She started to get more comfortable, flying normally again. For once, she wasn't thinking about people seeing her curse mark. It was a mistake that anyone in her place would make. Her mark was clearly visible to anyone who decided to look at her.

The dragon's blue eyes widened in surprise as she saw the strange marking on her new friend. It reminded her of the Tribe's Kallek Marks, but it was obviously nothing of the sort. It looked almost... sinister. I know I'm being nosy, but what's that marking on you? she asked, the curiosity clearly evident in her voice. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae frowned in sympathy at the young fanghur's words, upset over her revelation. She grew extremely angry at the mention of shades causing this. She despised shades. That's awful, Abrza! I've met another with a sort of curse on her. It wasn't the same, but it affected her in ways that would make any dragon long to rid her of it. And you probably feel similar to how she felt. If you ever want to seek out those shades for revenge or a way to lift the curse, just come find me and we'll rip some entrails out! she exclaimed immediately after the fanghur finished speaking. Her voice was filled with passion and sincerity; she truly wanted to help Abrza, and it made her all the more angry at shades in general.

Re: A Braw Day! Before I hatched, my egg was green. When the shades cursed me inside of the egg, I felt a darkness surround me, but I managed to break it in some places. This is why I have the green line-things on my black scales, and why I am not evil. She felt obligated to tell them her whole history of her 'tangos' with evil, but she knew that she didn't really need to. Most of it was her business. Besides, she was still feeling a little emotionally sick from having to fight earlier.
When Abrza heard Solarae's offering, she smiled greatly. You know, The Fanghur said, I might just take you up on the offer some day. As they landed on a large island, Abrza went to look for food. She had no idea how big of eaters Solarae and Gavin were, so she was just looking for herself. Eventually, she found a family of rabbits. She quickly killed them, and dragged them back to camp. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae growled at the thought of such evil shades. Well it is good you managed to escape at all, even if you have some sort of curse. But perhaps there is a way to reverse it. When you want to hunt down some shades, just come find me, she added with a grin of reassurance. She glanced at Gavin and nodded when he suggested spending the night on the island below. Galbatorix would have to stop too, and she doubted Shruikan was fast enough to escape them.
The orange swooped down amongst the trees and sniffed around. Hm. Not much big game here, she thought, only smelling sea-birds and small mammals. However, a strong smell coming from the south caught her attention. Oo, goat, she thought, racing forward. It wasn't uncommon to find some escaped goat on islands, at least from her experiences. Humans who stayed on islands for a while sometimes lost a few of their animals, especially goats for some reason. Re: A Braw Day! Gavin looked at the small rabbits that Abrza had brought back and said, I cannae eat such small beasties and flapped away to search for something more "suited" to his large appetite. He followed Solarae, but could not bring himself to take something to easily killed as a simple goat, so he contrinued on, he flew high and fast, using his superior eyesight to locate his prey, however there was none to be found...
Circe screamed with rage in her head as the Roc landed upon her island. Re: A Braw Day! Abrza stopped from her gnawing for a second. It felt as if she was being watched. She shook the feeling away, figuring that if even if there was something watching her, she'd still be able to defeat it with the help of her friends - even if she used another mental screech, her curse mark would take over. She went back to her eating, already making her self at home.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae tracked along the edge of the forest. A large open area stretched before her, marked by a very low hill that broke off on the other side in a steep cliff to the ocean. She couldn't see this, but could smell the sea and the bare rock, and could hear it crashing far below. A cold wind was stirring the tall grasses, and she caught a whiff of fear-scent on the goats. The wind was making them uneasy. The orange stepped lightly and slowly into the field, stalking her prey like a big cat. She crept closer, moving alongside the small herd of grazers and getting downwind of them. She finally got directly downwind. Her path had curved slowly towards the goats so that she was almost close enough to spring. She began creeping forward again, keeping herself perfectly silent and low to the ground. A sudden leap brought her onto a bleating animal's back, and the rest fled in terror as her jaws clamped down on the goat's neck, severing its spine. Solarae raised her head, jaws dripping with blood, and suddenly glanced out over the water. She had seen a brief flash of movement in the waves. Solarae bent to snag her catch in her teeth, deciding to get out of the exposed area on top of the cliff.

He continued to fly until he came across a large scool of tuna. The large fish swam with great speed, agility, and power. Perfect thought the Roc as he angled himself to attack the tuna, however something large, and feathery hit him in teh side of the head and caused him to swerve off course and nearly fall into the water. The roc raised his head angrily and said, Who had tha nerve tae hit me?! and flew angrily about searching for the offender.
Circe smiled as the male roc flew about angrily. She had been just fast enough to hit the Roc, then get back under the cover of the clouds to conceal herself before the much larger, stronger, and dumber male saw her. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae paused before she left, a large bite of her kill hanging from her jaws. She had caught a very faint scent on the breeze; it smelled almost like another roc. She tensed her muscles, standing completely still as she flared her nostrils for the smell. She suddenly heard a loud cry, and darted forward to the edge of the cliff, swallowing the piece of meat. Below the cliff and far to the right, she saw a female roc flying away from Gavin, who was stumbling in flight as he tried to regain control. Solarae hissed and bared her teeth, blue eyes flashing. In less than a second she shot off the cliff edge, wings flapping quickly as she raced toward her friend. She sent a small, warning shot of flame at the new roc. The fireball just missed the female and exploded brightly in front of her, singeing her feathers. Back off! You mess with Gavin, you get flamed! the fiery dragoness challenged, giving a brief, threatening roar.

Gavin's eyes dialated when he saw the female Roc. He knew better, but his instinct was too strong. He screeched loudly and shot off after her. Despite the fact that this was not his territory, Rocs only met during the mating season which lasted only a few weeks, other than that, Rocs hated one another and two were rarely ever seen together unless they were fighting for food or territory. Every move, every yell, it all seemed to disgust her in an unimaginable way, but she had to help her friends. If they asked for her mental abilities to be used against this female roc, she would, but until then she would watch and make sure her friends were okay.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae growled as the female roc flew up and away, annoyed that she was avoiding a fight with the orange dragoness. She growled again when Gavin flew up after the other roc, taking the bait. Gah! Gavin, what are you doing? She wants you to follow her up there! Solarae cried, hovering below the two rocs. Despite Gavin's strength, this roc was smaller and would obviously be more agile. In the open sky, she probably had the advantage. Also, the way she was trying to get Gavin to follow her suggested she had other tricks in store. Solarae usually didn't mind fighting, but in this case, it was just a pointless territorial fight, pointless because Gavin wasn't trying to steal this territory. And what was more, they had work to do! Galbatorix was getting away! Gavin! You can come back here and settle things another day! We've gotta keep moving! she shouted, wondering what the best approach would be to get moving again as soon as possible.

He hovered in the air, watching her every move, then with an angry hiss, he slapped his huge wings powerfully at the other Roc. The wind created by him knocked the Roc off balance and caused her to begin to falter in her flight. This, Gavin took full advantage of. He shot through the air after her, but missed her by less than two feet. The smaller Roc then was behind him. He hissed and turned to strike her with his claws.
Circe squawked awkwardly as the wind hit her. She was then thrown off balance and almost fell out of the skies, but her small size and agility safed her from the larger bird. She only barely managed to whip her body out of the way of the attacking Roc and position herself behind him. IC: Solarae growled as Gavin snapped at her. How can I stay out of this? You wasting time fighting this roc for no reason affects me! Maybe I should just go on after Galbatorix without you! she retorted angrily. She watched the fight progress, knowing it wouldn't be a quick one. Finally, she gave an exasperated sigh and flew up to get at the same level as the two fighting rocs. As the smaller female began to attack at Gavin's back, Solarae hissed and sent a small fireball at her. The flame exploded directly in front of her with enough force to blow her away from the big male. I don't care if you don't want me involved. I'm not letting this fight take longer than it has to, if you insist on fighting, she snorted. And though she wouldn't admit it, she didn't want to see the big roc get hurt. Re: A Braw Day! Gavin clacked his beak together as the smaller Roc's attention was drawn to the orange dragoness. He silently flew behind her and buffeted her with his powerful wings. The blow sent the other Roc spinning. She landed with a loud thwack! and sunk into the water below. Gavin screeched happily and circled over where the Roc had fallen to see if she would recover.
Circe cursed as she fell into the water, however she did have one distinct advangate in the water. She began to focus her mind, and soon, the powerful sea monster hurtled toward the surface. She roared with anger and attacked the Roc by grabbing his leg and began to pull him under the water with her. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae's eyes widened as the female roc hit the water and... promptly turned into a giant sea monster! Of course this would get more complicated, she thought with irritation. She dove toward the ocean as the giant monster latched on to Gavin's leg and began dragging him toward the water. I may dislike the water, but I dislike you more! she cried as she sliced into the waves like an arrow. Solarae wasn't the strongest swimmer, but she was a very strong fighter no matter what medium she was in. She had made sure of that with long hours of training in the Burning Sun Sea in preparation to fight a giant kraken. It had been the last kraken in the Sea, as she recalled, and had been causing no end of grief for the inhabitants of the area. Solarae swam toward the sea monster, ready to dodge or burn. Though she couldn't actually catch fire here, she could superheat the water.

Re: A Braw Day! Gavin screeched angrily as he fought the beast that was pulling him into the water with its powerful jaws. It continued to pull him down, until finally he felt his talons touch the water. Then, as suddenly as he touched the water, the monster let him go and instead went for the dragoness. Gavin screeched and promptly flew high enough into the air to be able to see safely what he was fighting.
Circe roared angrily as the dragon heated the water near her to a boiling temperature. Re: A Braw Day! Solarae bared her teeth in a silent hiss, recognizing the beast's tactic from earlier fights. She swam the opposite way, straight at the monsterous creature. The water around her was scorching, and any sensitive flesh on the beast would be burned if Solarae got too close. Eventually, she couldn't really navigate the churning waters around the creature, and so just worked on swimming to the surface again, which was trouble enough. She had had near-drowning experiences, and didn't desire another one any time soon. Still wanna fight, Gavin? she called at the roc with a hint of laughter in her voice.

Now that the beast had transformed and entered the water, he no longer wanted to fight, and was taking her earlier position of wanting to find Galbatorix. She was on the surface of the water, and preparing to lift off. She glanced to her side in alarm when she heard a roaring noise, and saw a huge wave of water surging toward her at high speed. The orange flapped her wings swiftly, making it into the air but not knowing if it was too late. The water hit her hindquarters and dragged her back down, but since it had not gotten all of her, Solarae managed to stay on the surface. She jumped clear of the waves once more, attempting to get airborne and away from this strange shape-shifting beast. She didn't really want to get into the very fight she had originally wanted to avoid.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae glanced downwards once more when she was sure she'd made it to a safe height. The beast was no longer near the surface, that much she could tell, but she didn't doubt that it might be further down, watching them. Well. I suppose that's as good a reminder as any to get our butts in gear, she said with a laugh. Though Solarae wasn't truly afraid of the monster, she was afraid of dying by getting dragged deep under the ocean. The orange didn't especially enjoy large, deep bodies of water. She was ill-suited to them, and was glad they were moving on once again. They had a mission to get back to.

He said, How air we tae draw the wee king out fra his hiding place? asked the bird who knew, despite his fierce pride, and somewhat dim-wittedness that it would be suicide to attack a city, even a coastal town by himself, with only the help of a fanghur and a small dragon. They could do some damage, yes, but in the end, all of them would end up full of arrows, and that was not something that Gavin wanted to try to deal with.

IC: Abrza was quiet until then. She wanted no part in the fight whatsoever. She was saving her anger and energy for Galbatorix and company. She knew that she would need every last ounce of it, and then some if she expected to lay more than a few scratches on them. Now that that's over or whatever.... Re: A Braw Day! Abrza thought hard for a moment. What could give them the element of surprise, yet be quick enough to do they wouldn't be battling in a city? She had no idea what would distract those oafs long enough for them to take a beating. Then, an idea that made her tremble a little at the thought of it entered her mind. She tried to shake it, but then realized it was the only thing they could do. She would have to do a third screech, and then resist the evil curse taking over her body long enough to see the large dragons and their riders running to defeat her, with her friends poised to attack.

If she carries it out before we reach the city and Galbatorix goes after her, we shouldn't have to deal with the city's archers. There will probably be some with the King, but not too many. My fire can deal with those arrows and their sources well enough, she said with a grin. She turned to the Fanghur. So are you alright with doing this, Abrza? I will not let anything happen to you, if you're the bait, but you have to be ready to escape once Galbatorix is in position, the orange told her new friend seriously.

He continued to talk as he flew fast and high over the water. It would not be lont before they saw the mainland.

Re: A Braw Day! Solarae grinned. Well in that case, let's hurry up. I think I'm getting a whiff of 'em ahead. Shouldn't be long before we can definitely be sure it's them, she replied. She was older than Shruikan, not to mention she had very good training with her sense of smell. She knew how close they could get before the black caught their scents, especially if they hid them.
After a few more hours of flying, Solarae decided it was time to make some preparations. Alright. We want this to be a surprise attack, so we should shield our scents as much as possible. Not to mention our minds. Once we get close enough for Galbatorix's men or the king himself to detect us, there's no backing out. What do you all say to landing for just a couple minutes and rubbing some plants on us? Re: A Braw Day! Gavin snorted oddly, the thought of rubbing plants all over his body repulsed him. He said, Why air we tae run tha plants all oor aur bodies? We're tryin take kill tha king, not play hide an seek wi him. said the lage bird as he landed on the island. He did not want to rub the plants on him, also, he had no way of knowing what it could or would do to his ability to fly. If he lost that, he would be in serious trouble, and would likely run out of food on that island within a week.
As the other two landed he looked them over, both of them were physically fit for a fight, but neither of them seemed to have enough muscle to do any real damage. He asked, How do ye two hairm your enemies? He has too much magical power, she explained, leading the way to the ground, And the plant doesn't smell bad or anything, and it won't do anything more than conceal our scents. Nothing dangerous. Solarae landed neatly amongst the trees, sniffing around for the special plant she knew of. Didn't know the name, but that didn't really matter. She glanced up with a frown as Gavin spoke again. Well you're just Mister Doubtful today, ain't ya'? There are more ways to defeat an opponent than simply overpowering them. Believe me. I've won vastly more fights than I've lost, she retorted with a grin, 'cause I've got something better than size or strength. I've got skill. She sniffed around a little more, and finally located the plant that would hide them. A nicely sized patch was growing near a stagnant pond. Aha! Perfect. Just pick some of this and rub it on your scales or feathers, she exclaimed, cheerfully demonstrating.

Re: A Braw Day! Gavin hissed annoyedly and lifted some of the plants with his large talons. He began to rub the pungent plant all over his body and finally finished rubbing it all over his body. The plant had a smell, as well as slightly stained his feathers. He sighed when he saw the ugly green on some of his beautiful feathers. He said, Sometimes, it is better to have scales than feathers, feathers get stained.... said the annoyed Roc as he looked at the large hole near the pond where his large talons had scooped up some of the plants.

Re: A Braw Day! Abrza gingerly picked a few leafs off of one of the plants and rubbed herself down with it. She made sure every inch of her body had been rubbed thoroughly and then dropped her leafs. Abrza inspected Gavin's stained feathers. It'll come out... She said, And besides, it's a cold world out there if you don't have any feathers. Believe me on that one. She laughed lightly and then looked downward for a second. What she was going to do soon, could cost her her life.

She finally controlled herself enough to finish rubbing herself with the plant. Yeah don't worry about it, Gav. Stain'll come right out. And scales get stained too, you know. Just look at my tailblade. It didn't start out red, she said with a grin, bringing her tail forward to present it to the roc. The leaf-shaped tailblade on its end was stained with a permanent blood-red color. Well, it looks, and smells, like you're both ready. Are you? Solarae asked, glancing between her two companions.

Gavin rolled his eyes at the dragoness and said, Aigh mih fethers may be flammable, but i'm tha best o tha best when it comes tae fighting. said the large bird as he shot into the air, his powerful wings knocking aside small trees and causing small dist-devils on the island. He grinned, it was not often he got to shot his strength to others when he was not fighting, but flying like that did show them just how strong his wing muscles really were, more than enough to flatten a cave bear.
