Who has read or heard about this book? and if you have read it, what did you think about it?

In my opinion, I thought it was a very good book. Excellent storyline and everything.

Oh my gosh, I looooove this book. Ray Bradbury is one of my favorite authors and definitely my favorite science fiction author.

You're kidding me, right? Fahreinheit 451 tells the story of a future where books are burned and the government controls the stupid population through television screens. It's a frightening tale because we are on the verge of coming to that. Bradbury is saying that literature is dying and the people will become stupid and destroy themselves eventually.

And people will have less control of themselves and the government will be telling them what they want them to know know, not what they need to know. Remember how it ended, they didn't know because the government was in control of their minds.

Yeah, not to mention everyone died because of that atomic bomb and nobody did anything.

I'll give you that, Montag was a pretty dull protagonist. But it's still a great story.

I got confused at first on what the main character's name was. It is "Guy Montag." The first name just throws you off lol.

i thought this was a pretty boring book. i mean, yeah, it had a greater meaning than what was said in the book, but the story in general was presented in a dull way. plus, reading books for school is always something i have to force myself to do

Post Re: Fahrenheit 451
This is probably one of the greatest books I've ever read. The themes and conflicts can be easily placed in a modern day sitution. I made to write an essay on that very idea.

About Montag:
1) Montag lives in a world where he has been beat down
2) He's getting old and a lot of bad times are happening around him. When I read the book I imagine my older uncle.

If you want an even better read, read Bradbury's Coda. Some times it's in the back of 451. It's his response to finding out that the compnay publishing his book later on where going to censor it, an ironic move, since the book was on censorship. His Coda is some of best writing I've heard there.
