Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
Pendragon is about this kid who's uncle takes him to this place called Denduron. He then finds out that there are ten territories in the universe that Travelers can travel between. There is also this evil guy named Saint Dane, who is intent on destroying all the territories.

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
I suggest Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill. It's about this old washed up Rock star who gets this package of a dead mans suit that is apparently "haunted" and it is. He and this girl he lives with has to deal with that and find out why it was sent to him and they get rid of the ghost. It is really good but is vulgar. Some swearing and nudity and has violent parts. Its more of an adult book.

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
You should read Ranger's Apprentice. It's really good. It's about this kid,Will, and he becomes a Ranger. In the first two books he has to defeat this guy named Morgarath. In books three and four he is sold into slavery. In books five through I have no idea what he has to deal with guy who is pretending to be a sorcerer and trying to take over his cousins kingdom. There are 9 or 10 books, but you can only get 7 in the USA.

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
Some Things That Stay – SARAH WILLIS This book is about a 15-year-old, Tamara Anderson, who moves house every year so that her painter-father has new scenes to paint. Really a romance book, but the descriptions etc. throughout are AMAZING =)
The Bitterbynde Trilogy – CECELIA DART-THORNTON [titles: The Ill-Made Mute; Lady of the Sorrows; The Battle of Evernight] About a girl with confused past/memories setting out to find her name and stuff; sounds original I know, but it is quite good =) It’s set in an medieval/Tudor-style AU that is very clever and original in itself. Beautiful romance etc. but quite a heavy read – tackle with determination!
Enjoy!

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
Isle of Swords: It's a complete take off of Pirates of the Caribbean, but it's still good! It's about this girl named Anne whose father is a pirate. She wants to be a pirate too, but her father won't let her. When the ship stops at an island, she finds a young man that is nearly dead. The young man is taken back to the ship and it is found that he has lost his memory. He is given the name of Cat. After leaving the island there is a fight between them and another pirates second in command's crew, and after defeating him, Anne and her father's crew and ship go to visit the monks to repair their ship. The monks have a map to an ancient treasure that is on and island called The Isle of Swords. Anne, and her father's crew must get to the treasure before the other pirate Bartholomew Thorn gets it.

ARTHURIAN LEGENDS! You MUST read any version you can get your hands on, and read ALL of the versions you can get your hands on! They're all different, so skipping one 'cause you've read another is a bad idea! LEARN ABOUT GRYPHLET in the Arthurian legends, just read them. It's a must. Even the POP UP book is good XP
And yes, I second E&As suggestion. RA is the roxerness. ^?^

I hope no one has said any of the ones I'm going to suggest!
the Gone series. It's about a little part of cali that is completely cut off from the world and everyone 15 and over just poofs. As in, GONE! Into thin air.
Wintergirls. It's about eating disorders so not happy but still really well written.
Anything by Amalia Atwater-Rhodes.
Nobody's Princess and Nobody's Prize. Both about Hellen of Sparta
AND The Forest of Hands and Teeth. ZOMBIES!

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
Good thread I've been running out of books to read so I've just been re-reading them I might pick some of these books up
Some of the books I would recommend have been mentioned like Pendragon, Harry Potter etc
You might want to try books from the author Darren Shan he's got two series of books both with 10 books. 1 about demons/magic the other about vampires which aren't bad they're supposed to be horror/fantasy they're scary though lol. Link for the Demonata series about demons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Demonata#The_Books Link for more information on the The Saga of Darren Shan about vampires The Saga of Darren Shan
Also try the Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. But it's set in a society where Black people are dominant in society, instead of white people. It quite interesting here's a link for the plots of all 4 books she's done http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noughts_%2 ... vel_series)#Background
Finally try The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver there's six books in total. I can't think of the genre it's more adventure Link for Chronicles of Ancient Darkness http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronicles ... ness#Story

Already read 'em!
The Circle: It's similar to Inception. It's about a guy who whenever he falls asleep in one world he wake up in another and both worlds are nearing disaster.
The Silmarillion: The whole back story to Lord of the Rings. All about the Valar, the beginning of Middle Earth, the forging of the rings, the works.

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
I would recommend Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, I am reading it right now. It does have some horror in it that is creepy but it is an excellent storyline:
Richard Mayhew is a plain man with a good heart - and an ordinary life that is changed forever on a day he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. From that moment forward he is propelled into a world he never dreamed existed - a dark subculture flourishing in abandoned subway stations and sewer tunnels below the city - a world far stranger and more dangerous than the only one he has ever known. . .

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
@E+A Max!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Max and Iggy and Fang are awesomio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd say the Skinjacker Trilogy, Neil Shusterman, and the Dreamhunter Duet, by Elizabeth Knox.
One is about where kids go who never reach the light at the end of the tunnel, the other is about a *it's soooooooooooooooo screwed up* Place called The Place where people catch dreams and sell them for money.
Both are excellent, and the third ST book is still not out, last I checked.
EDIT:: 16 posts from my next rank!!!!!!!!!!

caterpillar I read Fablehaven a few years ago and I loved it. I have yet to read the fourth book, but they are awesome.

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan. Read The Red Pyramid (his first book in that series) if you haven't already.

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
Okay...er...I've read pretty much every good story in the YA and Junior fiction sections of my library...so...can anyone reccomend anything that's really super intense in Adult Fantasy Fiction?
And by Adult, I don't mean dirty. I prefer clean stories, so Song of Ice and Fire is already out (Tried it, really, but alas...) But I'm really getting desperate here! I want something hard, something epic, something altogether insanely good. Like, the King Raven by Stephen R. Lawhead, something like that.

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
*raises hand* I's know of something, mellon nin! The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks! Absolutely epic start of the Night Angel trilogy! Absolutely EPIC book! It's about a boy, Azoth, who becomes the apprentice of Durzo Blint who's sort of an assassin with magical powers!
As for dirtiness.... erm.... there is innuendo and references.... and some bad words.... But other than that, it's clean! Plus! The epicness of it outweighs all that by about a million to one!

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
Erms...How strong is the innuendo and how bad are the words? Because that sounds like a completely epic book! As long as they aren't using anything really bad, I's can read it!
Thankies for the suggestion Mellon Nin! This Azoth sounds most interesting! *Bounce*

Re: The Book Suggestion Topic
It's not too bad... you can mostly ignore it, methinks..... I'll have to go back and check the book though... stay tuned for a few more hours...
You's be welcome! Did I mention how much blood there is involved! And at one point, Azoth gets stabbied!

A Beautiful Blue Death ~ Charles Finch
It is in a series of 4 books and they are all fantastic. It's an old-timey detective series that takes place in England but if you like detective books then the series is a really good read.
