So does anyone have any good theories or heard any rumours about Selena that might play an important part in the 4th book?

the have been some theories that Wolf-Eyes is Selena, which so a certain degree i agree with

oh really??? wow that's definitely an interesting one - im re-reading the books at the moment, so as soon as I've finished Eldest i'll read up on Wolf-Eyes

i didn't really pay much attention to that part so it'll be interesting to read over it with this new theory in mind

I think Selena is dead, you know like no longer living. So I doubt she'll have a big role in book 4 lol

I'm still intrigued by the fact that she managed to use the word for "Heal" to render 12 of Morzan's soldiers useless by healing them of their fears, loyalty to Morzan etc before killing them

Brom and Garrow said Selena was dead and I don't think they would lie to Eragon so Selena has to be dead

That's true, however Brom said he arrived at Morzan's castle too late and that she'd died - he never stated that he'd seen her body or anything (at least not that I can recall) so he may have just been told that by servants or someone

could be that she was whisked away for her own safety? she just wanted to see her other child (Murtagh) one more time before she disappeared?

I guess you could call it a "twist" if Selena was alive though I would find it kinda annoying

i wouldnt be too happy, WHY didnt she stay with eragon in the first place and let gertrude help her out instead of going back to morzans castle. if she didnt die in the castle, then maybe a few spellcasters could have rearanged her face using magic to make her look completely different so she could hide effectively.

If she was an elf (which I doubt) she might of been able to sing the dead body of an animal to look like her.

How much energy would that require. All the energy it would take for that thing to turn normally into an elf so more than Selena-elf or not-has. Also where would she learn to sing Eragon only learnt it after weeks of being taught by Oromis.

If she was an elf she would have learned how to sing plants into different shapes at a young age. And arya made her body look like a humans by even thou naturally it would take more energy than she had.

right however that's a very small change only the ears, eyes and cheek bones not completely changing the anatomy of an animal or plant including growing new organs. Not to mention when she came to the estate the she was still alive and the healers tried to save her life and when Brom questioned they replied in the ancient language about her symptoms and death.

So your suggestion on how Selena is still alive is that she somehow made an exact replica of her own body using tissue arrived sick at Morzan's estate then managed to escape and leave the fake body in her own bodies place while she was critically ill and then hide from everyone for 20 years. Also remember the healers could use magic and sense people's minds. I also believe they would have been tending to her 24/7 as she was Morzan's black hand and so the second most person on his estate after Morzan himself.

Just want to re-kindle this topic about who selena is. I am also thinking that there is a strong possibility that Angela is Selena. Why else would Angela be randomly following Eragon around?

Selena died in Morzans castle despite having been treated by Morzan's healers. Brom arrived there a few hours after her death. We don't know why tho. All we know is that she was deathly ill.

Could be easily faked by a very strong magician as herself, she was well known for her power and probably could trick both Morzan's healers and even Morzan of a fake death. Angela is also quite strong compared to others. What good reason would Angela be following Eragon's moves? Her son is a possible answer.

That would be kind of creepy too; Angela is supposed to be like CP's Sister, and Eragon is (So I've heard) supposed to be a bit like CP himself...so if Angela was Eragon's mum, then that would make CP's sister be CP's mum....

She hasnt helped him... And if you look back at it she doesnt really follow him around she even states that she enjoys Solembums company and that he'd leave her anyways if she didnt leave with him. Not only that but she's never shown any "true" interest in Eragon, nor Murtagh for that matter.

True, however Angela just always "mysteriously" goes wherever Eragon happens to go, knowing much more about the Varden's issues than any normal herbalist that wasn't directly connected with the Varden in some way at one point in time. This suggests that she once was a critical person in the Varden, but lost her connection (e.g. Brom vanishing)

But that makes no sense Brom LOVED emphasis on loved her, dont you think he would have said something to her if it was angela, when they met just outside of Jeod's place when they first go to Teirm? than just asking where Jeod was? Also Eragon see's a Fairth of his mother aka Selena he would have been able to recognize angela in a second if she truly was Selena. And what about when him and Oromis are talking about her and Oromis states that she didi die giving birth, they were speaking in the AL, so we know that to the best of Oromis's Knowledge she is dead.

Angela is based on CPs sister. Eragon is partly based on CP him self and Roran and Katrina is partly based on CPs parents. Having the character who is based on CP sister as the mother of the character who actually is based on CP would only be weired.

Oromis doesn't know everything Brom is secretive. If Brom didn't mention that he was Eragon's father why would he mention his mother? Brom had more important things on his mind like training Eragon and trying to survive.

She magically knows where Eragon is all the time? Solumbum just randomly follows Eragon around for no apparent reason other than it is "Interesting"? Solumbum who is Angela's closest "freind" as far as we know, just happens to talk to Eragon.......... because he and Angela could be potentially related.

Selena can't have had any connection. Before she became the Black Hand she was a normal human who lived in the Empire. After that she obviously was with Morzan.

The Menoa Tree on the other hand is a gigantic tree (taking up about 10 acres) in Du Weldenvarden, where the elves celebrated the Agaetí Blödhren, or Blood-Oath Celebration.

It started with Linnëa, an elderly elf maiden, who grew up singing to the trees. She didn't find a lover until she met a young elf. At first they had a great relationship, until the young elf started to desire for a younger lover. He found one, and for a time, they were also happy. When Linnëa discovered the young elf's treachery, she stabbed him and his lover to death. Linnëa was so overcome with grief and guilt that she sang herself into the oldest tree in Du Weldenvarden, and after three days and three nights, she had completely sung herself into the tree.

There really are no connection there. I am quite sure that they don't even know of each others.

There is still a chance that she is alive as nobody as far as I know has really seen her dead.

Brom and several of Morzan's healers saw her dead. The healers tried to save her and Brom raced there to try to save her. But when he arrived she was already dead.

I think Selene's dead and done with... but there is a chance that she's alaive because she would be about Brom's age...

Selena would not be about Brom's age Brom was old enough to have seen the fall of the riders - which was about the time Arya was born which is roughly 80 years in the past.
Eragon is how old? 17 18 since his 16 birthday was in the first book. i cant imagine Selena being more than 24 whe Eragon was born and she died.

I'm going 100% that Selena is dead. I think Morzan or someone would have killed her by now.
