A shade doesn't control the spirits, the spirits control them. If they can't control spirits very well, then they are more likely to be overpowered by the spirits and become a shade.

If they don't use a dragon for magic, then they use spirits. That means every member can summon spirits to some extent. Any one has the possibility of becoming a shade.

That was the clan Nar Garzhvog headed, however, we do not know of anymore Urgals or Kulls which broke away from Durza's spell. We don't know. Since he has not made any "appearences" in the books we can only guess. So there is a possiblity he is a Shade and gets his magical powers from dead spirits???

If he is a Shade it's not going to be pretty. Eragon's task already difficult task will nearly impossible. Maybe that's where the part of "when all seems lost" part comes in?

I think that CP would have to be psychotic to make galby a Shade. Besides, if he was one, how does he keep getting stronger?? Surely if he was being controlled by a spirit the thing wouldn't summon a spirit stronger than itself?? Shades are supposed to be cunning aren't they?? I can't see one being that stupid.

I guess that if their were a lot of shades he would have trouble being allies with them. Getting to be allies with Durza was probably a struggle on his behalf.

i think so didnt durza say something about how eragon should team up with him because together they were stronger thatn galby or did i jsut imangine that

In the first book when he was captured Durza said that they should team up, He said that he could train him in the Arcane Arts but I think he wanted that because he wanted a rider as a pupet instead of being a riders puppet
