Post Garm

Name: - Garm

Age:- He has been alive since the creation of Hell and the fall of Lucifer into the ranks of demons.

Gender: - Male

Skills: Celestial Fire: He can conjure the blackest flames from Hell along with the flickering white flames of the Heavens. He doesn’t use any energy while using this because his element is partly that of Hell and of Heaven. During the night the Hellfire is strongest. During the day the Heavenfire is the strongest. The fire generally coats his body, though he can breathe it or spit it out at his enemies. The fire cannot destroy everything that exists in the world, but can be used to immediately expunge evil-related things such as the black ichor that can reside in a body that was tainted with mind control. This is limited to two uses a day, at any time (morning, day or night).

Binding: Garm can bind a soul to a certain spot on the earth. He can also rip these souls away from these anchors that he places. He uses a lot of energy to do this because God has only just bestowed this upon him, so much so that he usually cannot move for a full day after this skills use. He is adept at placing souls, but not so skilled at removing them. He can only use this skill once a day.

Ventus: He can manipulate water and fire to create steam that will burn the flesh of his enemies. It creates a kind of tunnel or whirlpool that will keep his victim in place until he can bind them to where he needs them to stay. This does not exhaust him as much as it would another creature because God has bestowed this directly to him from birth. He can only use this technique six times a dy.

Race: - Hellhound

Hair: - His fur is the deepest of blacks, like shadow. His coat appears to be bloodstained.

Eyes: - Striking blood red.

Home Village: - Heaven?

Parents: - God created him.

Siblings: - Several, Cerberus, the hellhounds.

Character Personality: Garm is a vigilant worker, steadfast and sure of himself. He appears stand-offish at first meeting however he is generally rather loose around people he gets to know. He is quick to act and yet rationally thinks about his actions. He finds it easy to make friends, though he often finds that it is hard to maintain those friendships. He has managed to retain friendships with several of the Angels and some of the Nephilim, however besides them he knows no one. He is terrifying to see at first, though generally once someone meets him he seems less frightening. Garm has a tendency to sneak up on people, not purposefully, but he doesn’t quite understand things such as manners. He feels that people should be able to sense a creature or being coming upon them, since that is how most celestial beings are.

Garm is unfailingly loyal. He will never betray someone purposefully, and if he makes a commitment to someone before knowing that someone he knows is on the other side of a conflict, he will generally leave the conflict in general. Unless he is instructed otherwise by God. Because he is a Guardian, he must obey God’s will beyond all things. He has free will, but it is only truly accessible to him after he has handled the tasks that God has bestowed upon him. He is not at all bothered by this idea as he completely agrees with God and his philosophies.

Character History: Contrary to popular belief, Hellhounds do not specifically follow Lucifer. They were created to uphold the justice and peace of the world. Garm was granted the right to guard the outer gate of Hell. However his prowess was called upon by God himself to hunt down a traitor to the race of Nephilim. Long had Garm watched over the Gate to Hell from Alagaesia, and when the time came that his Lord ordered him to take chase after Aescix the Traitor he fell into his duty.

Garm had hidden for the longest time within the darkest reaches of Du Weldenvarden, farther past the Nephilim temples. He had once upon a time traveled with their parents, the Angels to the earth, meant to protect and guide them from forces that even God had not forseen. When they landed on their previous land Garm was restless, having not found his gate to guard. Upon the angels arrival they repopulated with the race that was known as Humans. These relationships caused the birth of the new race of Nephilim, whom were especially blessed by God.

However, despite their blessings they were forced to flee from their home by a King desperate for their power. They fled on boat and air, coming upon the land of Alagaesia. They came ashore on the other side of Du Weldenvarden, and Garm instantly knew he had found his gate. He could feel the tainted powers pulling towards him and set forth with the Angels and Nephilim to cleanse the Forest. After a time he settled, living his duty as a guard dog to Hell, and soon after the Elves forgot him, though the Nephilim never did.

He has long been visited by the Nephilim whom seek help with their blessings and God, as Garm speaks with him often. Though when Aescix rebuked his God by fully allowing hatred to blind him, Garm was ordered to kill him or capture him. Thus he begins on his journey.

Weapons: Claws, teeth. His skills.

Likes: - Justice, guarding the Gate, birds.

Dislikes: - Enemies, people who oppose God.

Weakness / Fear: - His weakness is Heavenly powers, he was created to fight evil, thus has a strong resistance against anything that is evil.

Animal Companions: - None.

Character's Physical Description: Garm has black fur, darker than the night, which he uses often to slink around. Because of his dark elements he can blend into shadows. His eyes are a blood red that seems to never fade, though they burn brighter when he nears his targets. He has a medium-sized snout that contains his razor sharp teeth. His claws are about the size of a man’s hand. He is around 4 feet tall and 4 feet long. (His build is basically like a Rottweiler, same everything, just larger and pure black with red eyes :p)

Dreams for the Future: - To do God’s bidding.

Reason for Dreams: - He is God’s loyal servant, doing as he is bid is what he lives for.

Alignment/side: - Neutral

Looking at the skills of this character, he seems far too overpowered in my opinion. Not only can he create a fire that would destroy everything, he can bind a character down to the earth while he does it.
Al the while both of these abilities don't take much energy out of him.

My only question has to do with the Celestial Fire ability... how would that work in a standard setting? Can he randomly set people or buildings on fire, ie. limits on the usage of the skill.

Past that, you have an interesting character here. I can accept once I understand your thoughts on above. :]

To be honest, Im personally against real-world religious references in a fantasy created world. Plus the actual book series already making the overall beliefs of each race. (Of course besides uniquely made races on this site.) However since we never really made a formal policy on the issue, I cant actually do anything. Just merely stating my opinion is all.

The actual character is interesting though. Im fine with it.

This presents a possible flaw that was missed during the creation of the new section. Namely that characters are not supposed to break the rules of Alagaesia when they're posted in this section of the boards. I think we can live with stretching the rules w/fantasy creatures... vampires, werewolves and the like, but bringing in real world religion is quite a bit past that.

With the non-canon section, you can basically re-do most of your character in your opening post. It's perfectly fine to repost a character's information in a "character bio-like" format in that post if you want to.

I don't know what is to be done about this... we're going to discuss this further, and we'll get back to you all.

Character accepted and ready for roleplay.
