All right, think back to one of the eairly chapters in eldest where Arya and Eragon are talking. She is telling him how she was the carrier of Saphira's egg and she had 2 Companions ... I forgot their names. But when Eragon asked what one was like she said what he was like but when he asked what the other was like she didn;t say anything, but got quiet, turned away and "didn't answer." At first I thought that maybe it was because he was mean but then when Nafi(sp) said that she has suffered so much for her race I put it together.
She was in love with one of her protectors and they might have possible have had a child because she was always so sad when she talked about there not being many elven children.
Maybe not child but I'm willing to put money on the fact that she has already been in love and can't give up on him because he died for her.
Also the things he mother says to her give hints. Just think about it.

You are very much correct NightFire. In some way you must have some sort of pity for Arya because she forgot how to love. She was so devestated by the loss that she just pushed love into the back of her mind and left it there to rot.

Ayre is as much in love with Eragon as he is with her. It is her duty and his that gets in her way. She being wiser knows that if they were to "hook up" (as young-uns say today) it would hinder them both greatly. As you could see in the last battle in Eldest. He was so concerned for her that he used some of his energy to protect her with the wards.

Oh I know that Nightfire. She did not make any reference to anything romantic, but the characteristics that make Eragon who he truly is. Honestly, I have a problem visualizing Arya with him. Elf or not elf, she is way older, more experienceed and wiser than him.
Somehow I think, as many on this site, that one of the elves killed in the ambush, may have had a romantic relationship with Arya.

I'm trying to torture you it's just way i think (isn't it quiet...abnormal?!?). I'm just impressed with different ways of ending your story. I think arya is in love with faolin but she has all these emotions for eragon that shes confused and going to keep them bottled up to stop her losing another like faolin. she also wants to interupt eragons training

LOL, Eragon the 1st Elf, I agree with only part of your theory! I too believe she does have feelings for Eragon but there are so many things against her to encourage him that she keeps them as you say, "bottled up.' But still, it would be creepy to have them together by the end of the book.

The idea that came to me when Arya first came into story(forgive me for my english) was that she would be the woman that Eragon would fall in love diply. And i didn´t fail. Though i also believe that they will never be together and that the writter is trying to give us hope just because there has to be a romantic element in every book. And maybe that ending would have its magic , while Arya hides a story very discreet and i think that she will tell it at the next book. Of course that kind of ending would leave me a bitter taste but i guess it is better to think all the possibilities and if the best comes then u will be happy more.

Don't you think Arya have feelings with Eragon? She may have much more feelings than Eragon has for her. But just think about eragon will die over time and she still standing on land missing her lover MAKES her sick (me too). Her action to ragon doesn't mean that she doesn't care about him a bit. Why is everyone saying it couldn't work? Eragon will live or as long as Arya unless one is killed. Even though she has a hundred years on him Eragon is maturing exponentially since the first book.

Nothing you are saying makes any sense. Saphira knows Eragon will never be truly happy unless he is with Arya. The prophecy fits Arya perfectly and as you said nobody else fits and there will not be enough time for him to fall for someone else.

Plus there is no time limit for when you can fall in love. Many times in fantasy novels two characters fall in love in a matter of a few pages.



Her ex ? What book are you reading ? She had some romantic feelings for Faolin but she was never actually in a relationship with him. Eragon asks her flat out did you love him, she says what do you define as love... that means she loved him but she wasn't In love with him... there is a big difference.



How can you read Brisingr and honestly think Arya isn't falling for Eragon and he isn't in love with her.

As Roran said in book 3, love doesn't listen to reason. Saphira has never said anything of the sort. She aproves of Arya.... has she warned Eragon about forcing his affection on Arya ? Yes but since then she has seen that he will never be happy without her. I get that you don't want them together but stop ignoring stuff from the books. Even AnnieBee who hates the idea of them together has said it's obvious that Arya is falling for him.
