OOC: Oo, I like long introductory posts.

IC: As night fell over the land, one of the first stars of the evening suddenly blinked into existence and began moving slowly across the sky. As it soared directly above a pine forest in the Spine, it paused, and came to a stop. The star blinked out, and only a small dark shape could be seen where it had been.

Phalynx, the reason for the "star," had noticed something far below, amongst the trees. A distinctly elven shape was beneath her, and an unfamiliar one at that. However, it wasn't completely elf-ish. Perhaps she's only part elf, Phal thought. She extended her concsiousness below and brushed the other's mind with only the barest and most brief of touches, not wanting to startle her. Yes, a half-elf, she realized.

Phal pulled into a steep dive, letting her overly large wings carry her to the ground with ease. Though she had been several miles in the air, it only took a few minutes for her to get about three-hundred feet from the forested earth below.

Greetings, half-elf. My name is Phalynx. To what may I attribute your presence in the Spine? she called to the figure below as she hovered. Phal's star-colored scales glittered in the fading light, and her green eyes, with the gold stripe in the right one, swept around the wood for signs of danger.

OOC: Care if i join?

OOC: I would be more than happy for you to join, Kit. Just please wait until I introduce the counterpart of my character.

OOC:I guess, what do mean by that if i may ask?

OOC: What I mean is that I have a male character (~Erendil~)which is to eventually be paired with Breanna.

It would be great if you would read the character's bio, so that when you do join, the story would flow seamlessly.



IC: Breanna leapt to her feet. Her reaction was not out of fear, but out of wonder. Automatically, as natural as breathing, she extended out a tendril of thought to detect danger. What she encountered was a consciousness so beautiful, so pure, that her breath hitched a soft, low gasp. Here, before her eyes was one of the most ancient, magical creatures of which Brom had depicted during those warm, long conversations. All the stories he had narrated to her over the years, materialized before her very eyes. Her round hazel eyes, shone with rapt attention, reverence and a deep emotion caused by the sight of the extraordinary, sublime being.
The majestic, bright, silver scales seem to illuminate her small camping ground. Breanna then touched her lips, twisted her right hand over her sternum, just as her father had taught her, and said "Atra esterní ono thelduin, Phalynx."
Breanna knew she must wait for her reply, before she could introduce herself and answer her questions.

OOC: Hope you can join soon, Kit.

IC: Phalynx returned the formal elvish greeting, inclining her long head to the half-elf. I am glad to see you are not frightened, or worse. I've gotten much fouler welcomes, she said with a small, warm laugh. The girl certainly shared elvenkind's reverance for dragons. Her eyes were positively glowing as she watched the young dragoness.

Phal fluttered elegantly down to the ground, flaring her wings a little as she landed to catch her descent. What is your name, young half-elf? And may I ask why you are in the Spine? Not many elves or their kin that I encounter here are simply wandering aimlessly, she said, folding her rather overly large wings against her sides.

OOC: okay, i'll read it when i get a chance. you should attach a link in your signiture to your bios, it makes it easier to find. Also just so you know, I'll be using Kit, Shyara, and Shyra, so if you're worried about Kit putting the moves on your character, don't worry, he'd get in very much trouble from his wife/mate.

OOC: No, Kit, I was not worried about anyone "coming on" to Breanna. What worries me is that maybe I would not be able to have him flow effectively into the story.

IC: Breanna could not glance away from Phal. She knew she was acting as a child, however, she could not overcome her awe. "I am Breanna, daughter of Fergal and Vevina." Breanna extended her arm for Shaylee to perch on it and said, "This is Shaylee, my companion. As for my presence in the Spine, it has been my home for the past fourteen years." "I am on my way to seek revenge for the death of a dear one and to help fight the Empire."

OOC: I don't suppose if anyone minds me joining, I don't have any flashy colored text, but I'll try my best, eh? I'll wait for Erendil before posting, of course.

OOC: Wait... wait a minute... why does it suddenly say that all of LadyBrisingr's posts were made by AnnieBee? Why did it suddenly change? Is that seriously you? Was it the whole time? Or is something weird going on? Why would it change if it was, though? And how... why... Aah!!! I AM CONFUSED!!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE???!!!

OOC: ... Now that you mention it... I.. what? What is going on here? Unless I was somehow high lastnight.. all the posts were by Lady Brisingr... But now.. Anniebee.. But... Indeed, what is going on?

OOC: That is what I was wondering...bye the way, when your ready, would it be ok if i join?

OOC: Okay, good, so it's not just my comp going crazy or something odd. But seriously, what's up?

OOC: I just checked LadyBrisingr's charry and it is saying that AnnieBee made it!!

OOC: YEah.. apparently all of Lady Brisingr's posts are now AnnieBee's... huh..

OOC: Okay, here's what I have: Lady Brisingr has made 0 posts, and AnnieBee made all of Lady Brisingr's posts. I found that out with the Members list and Annie's profile. I'm still not sure what's going on, though...

OOC: The answers will come eventually, no doubt..

OOC: Indeed. I shall pm Annie.

OOC: It is weird on my screen two. Rider of Death, sure, but we've got to wait till Lady Brisingr/AnnieBee says we can. She wants to add someone else before I go then you can go too, but you might have to wait till after Wayra

OOC: No problem with me, I'm more confused about this whole name conundrum.

OOC: Aha! Never fear, everyone. Nothing weird's going on at all.

OOC: I hate it when people do that but don't say anything about it.. What's going on? XD

OOC: ROFL! Sorry.

Annie says she wanted her charries accepted like a normal member's, instead of just as staff. Which is a very logical explanation, lol.

OOC: I think she would've been accepted either way... *Shrug*

OOC: Ladies & Gentlemen, I shall explain.

Erendil was a character I had (with a different name) at another RPG site where I was a Mod. After my character had been approved, there were complaints from members that I was approved because I was staff. Result, I filed my charry and eventually left the site. The site closed maybe a yr or 2 ago.
So in order avoid something like that happening again, I decided to submit my charry's under Lady Brisingr which is my U/N at another site. I went through all the channels and even gave the staff a headache or two.

So, now that the story is on a roll, I requested to show my posts as A/B.

OOC: Okay, so now that that is settled when can the rest of us start RPing? and what will the order be?

OOC: Well.. If you're a mod, it's for a good reason, so if your character gets approved.. it was because it's a good character.. I don't mind if you're a mod or not.. you're a good RPer, and you got passed for that reason.

OOC: Thanks guys. That's all water under the bridge. Let's get to business! For the moment I need to go along with Phalynx's and Breanna's dialogue. I imagine I can introduce Erendil soon after; then Kit can come in and afterward, you Wayra. I only wish for the story to flow in a credible manner.

IC:Breanna's visage grew serious and sad. She spoke in a low soft voice, "Brom Holcombsom was my mother's second cousin, my dear friend and a sort of a mentor to me. After my family took in the Spine as our place of residence, Brom was the only human contact I had for many, many years. He was an honorable and just man. It was he whom taught me about the wondrous existence of dragons. He used to be a Rider, but his dragon was killed by the Forsworn during the Fall. His life was ended by some evil creatures known as Ra'zacs." Her voice grew stronger and determined, "And I have decided to forgo my family, my leafy home in the Spine and avenge his death. If I do not or cannot find these abhorrent creatures and annihilate the foul beasts, I shall fight against the Empire until I do find them and have them pay for Brom's demise."

Breanna's small body was straight, fierce in her determination and fervor. She looked at Phalynx's beautiful, green eyes. She noticed she had a fleck of gold going across the iris of one of her eyes. She tilted her head and said; "Brom's dragon was named Saphira. Brom described her scales as sapphire blue and I could not imagine any other dragon would be more exquisite and splendorous than she." She gave a short, soft laugh and went on; "I see that as glorious as she must have been, your beauty is unique and unparalleled to any other dragon.

So that explains all the intellectual posts. Oh well...it makes perfect sense but I dont think many people would have complained because it is a good charry...

OOC: Rider, what's up with you?? Gosh, first I was formal, now I'm Intellectual... Do you not like me anymore or something???

OOC: Ok, people, I am introducing Erendil. Kit, Wayra, feel free to jump right in!

IC: Somewhere in the Spine...

The lean, muscular figure ran through the thickets and greenery of the Spine. His brown hair, beyond the length of his shoulder was tied with a leather strip behind the nape of his neck bobbed with each of his feet landfall. His green enigmatic eyes, were shadowed by a look of determination and purpose. He had been living in the dangerous, mountainous range for three long years. Erendil had fled into the Spine after killing one of the soldiers who had participated in the cold blooded murder of his parents. It was only a few months previous he had returned to Narda, broken into his father's former business and stolen the maps which would help him to plot his journey to Surda. He was tired, hungry and knew he had to soon call his run to a stop. He decided to he should hunt for his dinner. The tubers he had scavenged earlier in the day would make a thicker concoction to whatever game he hunted. Erendil slowed his gait to a slow stop. He could listen to cheerful gurgle of a nearby stream. Cocking his ear, he tried to gauge from which direction the singing brook was located. He closed his eyes and listened carefully. Yes, the sound came from his right. Erendil surveyed his surroundings, looking for an adequate place to halt for the night. Night would be falling soon. Here in the Spine its arrival was swifter than out in the open. The ancient trees, brushes and ever entwining vines impeded the sunlight to shine as long as out of the mountains.
Erendil's long strides took him closer to the craggy outcrop s of the mountain. As he looked, he saw something which seemed like an opening covered with brushwood.
"Hmmm," he thought. "This could be a home of one of the many animals that inhabit the Spine." He pulled out his bow and knocked an arrow on it, walking quietly towards the opening. He realized his bow was not going to allow him to move the branches to check the small cave. He unstrung the bow and placed the arrow back in the quiver. Erendil pulled out his sword and with it he started hacking at the branches covering the opening.
After an hour’s worth of work, he had reached the opening on the side of the cliff.
Satisfied he cleared the torn, broken branches, entered the small cave. The smell of rotted leaves and moss assailed his nostrils with a punch. He knew he had to allow the fresh air to penetrate the small cave before he could make it habitable for the night.

Erendil went for his packs, brought them back to the cave and settled them at the entrance. He decided to look for branches and twigs to make a fire. He picked up his quiver and his bow, and marching towards the direction of the musical sound of water clashing against rock and bank. It was not long before he had a pair of conies in hand. With his belt knife, he then skinned and gutted them smiling at his luck. He then spitted them on a branch and carefully stuffed some wild herbs at the insides and rubbed the aromatic leaves on the exterior of the rabbits. He carefully wrapped the tubers and poking a hole with another branch, he shoved them under the base of the fiery embers. He stood up, and allowed his eyes to gaze at the small mound of brambles he had removed from the mouth of the cave. He chose two branches which would serve as anchors to hold the spitted rabbits. He then got into the task of cleaning the floor of the cave. The stench had been greatly removed after the place had been aired, but he would need to burn some barks of sandalwood if he was to sleep in it. He opened his pack and looked for the small lantern he had for these occasions. He then proceeded to light it a take a better look at his temporary dwelling. The soft glow reflected the rough surfaces which served as walls. He would have to hunch over a bit, since the concave rocky over ceiling was low for his height. Over towards the back end of the cave a long slate served as an impromptu dais, where he would be able to open his bedroll. He went back to the pack and walked out of the cave. He straightened to his full height and walked towards the stream. He stripped and dived into the cold, clear steam. After feeling he had washed of the day’s dust, and weariness, he decided to return to his small camp. Night was almost over him. The fire of his dinner served to warm him up, while he turned the spit. With his belt knife, he removed the tubers he had placed under the embers, spearing them out. Erendil had learned to carve wood during his happier days in Narda. This hobby had proven to be an asset, for he had carved rustic eating utensils he used for his meals in his exile. After he inspected that the meat was fully cooked he, he cut off a hefty piece, removed the wrappings from the red tuber and began to eat. After he was sated he pulled the water skin and drank deeply. He decided against extinguishing the fire completely as it offered a degree of protection from the forest animals. He picked up his rustic dinnerware, packed the remaining of the meat and settled for the night’s rest.

Unlike the fleeting and swift animals of the Spine, Skylarwell stumbled and tripped his way through the rocky region. He had been drinking, and a lot at that. It wasn't all that surprising, he turned to the dizzying effects of alcohol these days, hoping it would take his mind off of what he usually thought of, the dragon he had bonded with. Because of his drinking he almost met a very unceramonious death by walking straight off a dangerous overhang. Fortunatly, he managed to stumble back just in time. Even through his blurry vision he could make out a warm orange glow, and he slowly made his way for it, throwing caution to the wind. He tripped and stumbled his way up to the fire, and once he caught the orange glow on his face, one could see the bloodshot eyes and the emptiness within them. "Hello.." He called out in a slurred voice, not bothering to sense around with his mind.

Shyara was slowly gliding over the forest of the Spine, with a sleeping Kit and Shyra on her back. She had been told to stop at the next clearing, but that was the problem, there was no clearing to be found. Up ahead, she saw an odd looking star, that was unusually bright and rather close to the ground. She moved in closer, her blue and green scales camouflaged her well from anyone who was looking in her direction. The star went out of sight, and then she saw it again in the clearing.

Oh, hello Phal, she said yawning. Do you mind if we set down next to you? Oh, Hi, Shyara said, noticing the human that Phal was talking to. I am Shyara, and I am very tired. You have no idea how tiring it is to fly over these trees without seeing a patch of ground, let along doing it caring two people.

OOC: So Shyara is with Phal and Breanna. and Erendill hasn't met up with them right?

OOC: Can't I feel free to jump right in? Oh well...I'm going to my hole!

PS: everyone is invited to my pitty party but Annie! MWAHAHA!!!

OOC: I'll take a brief turn, if you don't mind.

IC: Phalynx raised her eyes above the treeline when she scented another dragon nearby. The gold stripe in her eye began to glow a faint gold as she used her powers to see who it was. Seeing it was only Shyara and her friends, she lowered her head back to Breanna.

Another dragon will be joining us shortly. This one has a rider, Phal said to the girl. Soon after, Shyara landed in the clearing. Hello everyone. This is Breanna, she said to the newcomers.

OOC: Does Shyara have Kit and Shyra with her at the moment?

Skylar was faintly aware of being moved without moving. He blinked, and the fire disappeared, and when he opened his eyes again he saw the faint flickering of the fire on the cavern walls. He tried to move himself up, but to no avail, and he fell back on the makeshift bed. He groaned a bit, a headache comming over him. Skylar reached his left hand up to rub his temple, but when he touched it to his face he felt the hand was burning. He turned it around and through his hazy vision he could see the silvery insignia resonating light on his hand. He groaned once more, let his hand drop, and fell back into the darkness of his dreams. The hand was left exposed though, and the mark reflected the light of the fire. Skylar's dreams were troubling, and his eyes flickered from place to place under his eyelids, seeing things only known to him.

OOC: *groans* and I have to go to bed! It's past my bedtime!!! I promise to post tomorrow first thing when I get back from work! I have a half day tomorrow!

OOC: Yeah She had them both on her back. Do you think I could post or would it be best if I waited?

OOC: I'd wait for Breanna's reply to your landing.

OOC: I am a bit confused here with the characters. Let me go back and read. How does that make the story flow RoD? I may be too sleepy and tired, but it just does not seem to tie in...


IC:Breanna could not believe her eyes. In one night two dragons had appeared to her very sight. She said, "Atra esterní ono thelduin, Shyara." Breanna was fascinated with the dragons and had not realized she had ignored the Rider.
Blushing, she lower her head and repeated the greeting: ""Atra esterní ono thelduin, Shur'tugal. Please forgive my manners, I cannot get over the wondrous sights of the dragons." She went on, "I had heard of them only from the accounts of my cousin and here before me I have been gifted to see not one, but two of what until now, were just a dream, a legend. "Forgive me, I am babbling." she said. "I am Breanna, daughter of Fergal and Vevina." She went on; "But please Rider Kit, would you like to sup with me. I have a pot of stew which should be done by now, and I would be more than happy to share the dwelling I have prepared for the night."
Shaylee flew and placed herself on Breanna's shoulder. "Breanna," said the white eagle, "This is unbelievable. Two dragons; two real dragons. What Brom told us was true, but the marvel of seeing them is greater than what he recounted to us." Breanna answered her companion through the mental link, "Shaylee, I cannot help but feel good about all this; we may save some time in finding the Varden and join the campaign against the Empire sooner than what we had planned."

OOC: Okay, people, I'm crabby again today so here goes the rant!!!

This this one of the reasons I am so reluctant for many people post on one RP.
I started out with Dracoaestas, then came Wayra, Kit, and RoD. That makes five people in one RPG, and how many characters in all?

Then we need to wait for who ever's turn it is to post, to come in, whenever that may be. Until that person comes in, we are all "on hold." I don't like being "on hold" in my own story!

So please, if you cannot post on a daily basis, don't hold the others back!~

OOC: Ok Annie...I usually am on on a daily basis so I will be able to do it...I'll leave if you want me to though.

OCC: Darn it Rider, I'm not asking you to leave. AND YOU KNOW THAT!!!
What I did ask you is to give me a hint as to how we are going to fit the battle with the Urgals into a quiet, campfire of dragons, Riders and Half-Breeds! (LOL, using Dolores Umbridges' phrase).

OOC: Hehe...I have my ways. Ever since I saw this topic I've been planing. Its a good way to improve my writing skills as well.

OOC: I'm posting for Erendil

Erendil knew there was nothing to do. He would have to let the man sleep it off. He busied himself with cooking. He doubted the individual would be able to stomach anything other than a broth. He chuckled to himself. He had never gone to those extremes, but he wondered what may have driven this man to drink to the point of unconsciousness.

Erendil was willing to help, but not to the point of foolishness. He was a fugitive after all. He would have to be very careful. In the meantime he searched for something to use as a bedroll. This promised to be a very long night.

OOC: If no one minds, I'll go ahead and post.

BIC:
That was the one thing Skylar hated the most, his dreams. No matter how much he drank, no matter how much he tried to not think about it, no matter what he did, he could never escape the dreams. First it was flashes of before his life was bad, flashes of looking at the ground below, of his dragon, anything that would lead him into a false sense of security. Then came the flashes of that horrible day, and he couldn't stop them. A cold sweat started to form upon his brow and his hands started to grasp for something, anything.

Skylar bolted upright in the makeshift bed, almost knocking his head against the cieling of the cave. He was breathing heavy, and the sweat that had covered his face was shimmering in the light of the fire. He found one of his hands clutching at his cloak, and the other gripping Lunaea so hard that his knuckles were white. Skylar's vision was clear once more, and he could make out the figure of Erendil by the fire. He wiped his brow before he stepped out of the cave, and made his way over to him.

OOC: Do you want me to go ahead and continue posting with Skylar, or should we keep waiting?

OOC: Right, then.

BIC:
Skylar stopped himself from breathing hard and sat down, still recovering from the dream. "Thank you, no need to worry yourself," Skylar said, noticing Erendil's hand on the knife. "I'm just a traveler, no harm to you.. The name is Skylar." He sighed and looked in the direction from which he came. "I'm not very well at all, actually.. but that's my problem." Skylar looked to the bubbling pot and sniffed at the broth. His stomach grumbled and he realised that in his drunken state he had forgotten to pack any food. "Smells good.. do you have a bowl I can use?"

Skylar spooned himself some more of the hot broth, enjoying the good food. "Thank you, Erendil.. Not many would offer a complete stranger hospitality. Especially not in this place. What are you doing out here, anyways?" He scooped up some more of the warm liquid in his spoon and gulped it down. "Good brew you have here, by the way."

Skylar finished up the last of the food in his bowl and set aside that and his spoon. "You're right, I'm no wanderer. I'm searching for something, or maybe I'm escaping something. Depends on the way you look at my life. I'm searching for some quiet.. or maybe just something to look forward to in life." Skylar didn't have anything he could possibly give to Erendil for payment, at least, nothing he wanted to part with. So he decided to give up a little bit of himself, at the very least. "Or maybe I'm just escaping from the past. Then again, who isn't these days?" He gave a small chuckle and shifted himself into a more comfertable posistion on the rough ground.

Alec woke up. The urgals were gone. The pressure on his mind was lifted. A man was standing next to him. Glancing up he saw a tall, muscular figure with long black hair. He wore a weather beaten cloak about his shoulders, and carried an elegant bow in his hand. A quiver filled with an array of arrows was slung across his back, and a long dangerous looking sword was worn at his side. The man held out a hand to Alec, and Alec warily took it. Without any sign of effort he was lifted of the ground.
“Your weapons are over there as is your cloak,” said the man. “If you are wondering my name is Skygge and I mean you no harm.”
Alec eyed Skygge with suspicion but said nothing.

OOC: I’m going to continue this later. Someone else can go…

OOC: I guess we need to wait for Dracoaestas to post. I cannot do Breanna's part until then. And honestly, I cannot figure a way to tie your part in with the story. Maybe Dracoaestas will have the creativity to tie you in Rider.

Skylar nodded, "Aye, nature is always an interesting thing to test. It's a bit of trial and error, of course, but it seems you already knew that." He smiled and stood, heading over to the pile of unwashed bowls and spoons. "Rest is a good thing, and it looks like you need it. I've had my fill of sleep tonight, though.. I'll keep watch. That is, if you don't think I'm going to ransack your camp?" He picked up the dirtied woodware and headed over to the stream.

OOC: EDIT: Should I delete my post, then?

OOC: Sorry Wayra. That post was meant for Rider. In the mean time I guess we need to try to get Erendil and Skylar to meet up with Breanna and Phal.

OOC: Guess we need to figure some way to work that out?

OOC: I know and I have no idea when Dracoaestas will be on again. In the meantime, IDK what we two should do. Maybe make these two friends???

OOC: Probably the best idea, or have Erendil and Skylar meet up with Rider on the way to Breanna and Phal? Either way, it's your post.

OOC: I've been away for a few days, but I'm back now, no worries! I have an idea for meeting up with Alec and Skygge, at least. I'm gonna send Phal hunting.

IC: Phalynx was mildly amused at Breanna's fascination with dragons. She hadn't been around that many elves, except for those she was close friends with. She hadn't realized until now just how deeply they respected, perhaps even revered her kind. Phal knew that quite a few dragons would probably let such reverence go to their heads.

"Well, if you don't mind, Breanna, I'd like to spend the night here with you. But first, I'd better get something to eat. It's been too long since my last meal, and I can see the heat radiating off of all those warm bodies in the forest," she said, the golden stripe in her eye glowing as she used her magical sight to look for prey.

"Stay safe, Breanna. I'll be back shortly," she said, getting aloft with a single downward stroke of her large wings.

Skylar had finished with the soup bowls and spoons awhile ago. He had been sitting next to the stream, the quiet gurgling of the water giving him a sense of clarity. His ears perked up when he thought he heard a splash somewhere downstream, but he shook his head. Probably a deer out for a midnight drink. He looked up at the stary sky and yawned. It occurred to him that he was still a little tired from his 'nap'. Skylar returned to the campfire and held his hands over it, gathering the warmth. He looked down at the sleeping Erendil, wondering who he was sharing a camp with. He shrugged, We all have our stories to tell, I suppose. He sat and huddled closer to the heat of the flames.

Breanna could perceive the kindness, gentleness of Shyra's heart. She felt confident she could tell her some of her plans.

Breanna stood up and walked towards her skin posed on the threshold of the cave. She search for two glasses and poured a amber liquid in both. She walked back to Shyra and handed her one and gave the second to Kit. She sat on the mossy ground and hugged her knees as she started to tell her tale.
"I have been living in the depths of the Spine with my parents for many years. My mother, Vevina is human and my father Fergal is elfkind. I have left the safety of our home tree prompted by two impulses. Just as Skylar was about to fall into sleep, his eyes snapped open. He was suddenly aware of the energy and lifeforms in the surrounding area. Why didn't I feel that before.. the energy, it's massive. I'm going to have to cut back on drinking, I think. He slowly stood, glancing at Erendil to make sure he was still there. Once he was certain nothing was going to jump him, he placed a hand on the hilt of Lunaea and moved towards the large sources of energy. She could hear a voice, female, but he couldn't make out any words. And by the time he got close enough to see the firelight, she was done speaking.
