 Night EmbracedYssala sat cross-legged in the grass on the cliff of a mountain, meditating. The moon was out, a few stars sparkling, the brightest ones managing to shine their best. The wind was crisp, though not entirely cold, as she wasn't that far up in the mountains. Her hawk friend, Astral, was sleeping away in a tree somewhere, though she knew at the sound of any threat, he would wake even if he was not nocturnal.
Her eyes were closed, as she took in calming deep breaths of air, though in moments, whispers began to float around her head, gentle, soothing voices that have kept her company for many years. "Sala? Sala...Play with us, please?" Yssala opened her eyes calmly, and turned her head to face her little friends the fair folk, floating around her like little fireflies. They had followed her even this far, and they were restless. "In a while, I still need to do my nightly ritual. It's tradition," she reminded them with a small laugh, smiling. "I'll be done soon." The faeries didn't say anything, but they continued to float around her, though Yssala didn't mind. Re: Night Embraced She was exhausted. Sahara had been flying for who knows how long, looking for something, anything! It was the first time she'd been so far away from her home, she wanted to see what was out there. She sat on a cliff, it was hard and cold, unlike th warm soft sand she'd been used to. Sahara rustled her feathers for warmth as she readied herself for sleep. Her eyes were closed, and she was in that midway point of being asleep and awake, she heard a noise, a voice to be exact. Sahara opened her eyes and searched for the voice, on the cliff below sat a woman, surrounded by things she'd never seen! Is that one of the pale skins the tribe members spoke of? What are those things surrounding her? Do all pale skins has lights shine around them? Questions ran through Sahara's mind. Sahara examined all around the girl,maybe there was something that would answer one of her questions. Only one thing stood out to her, a hawk, a brother, in a nearby tree. She let out a whistle that called to him. Brother! Brother! My name is Sahara, who is this woman that has lights shining around her? Is she from the Goddess of the Stars, Asteria?

Re: Night Embraced Yssala continued sitting on the cliff side, when she heard a loud screech come from behind her, alerting her that something was nearby. She got up, pulling her dagger out in front in case she needed to use it, her other hand pulled upward. She moved her eyes around, to look for the new arrival.
"Who was it, Astral?" she whispered to him. He flew down and pearched on her shoulder, whispering to her in the hawk language she understood. "A roc you say?" she murmured. "Is it friend or foe?" Astral whispered again in Yssala's ear, and she nodded in understanding. He flew towards his tree again, and got comfortable enough to get some sleep. Yssala called out softly, "Roc...Sahara, please come to me, I won't do you any harm. Re: Night Embraced Did he just ignore me? ... Meanie, Sahara thought as she scowled at the bird. When the woman, pulled out her weapon Sahara flared her wings and backed away, hoping that the human wouldn't attack her. As she heard the woman call out to her, Sahara etched forward. She glanced down at the woman, she didn't appear as if she was going to attack. Happily, Sahara glided down towards the human. She stared at her for awhile before speaking, this was the first human that wasn't indigenous to the desert. She keep shifting her feet as she examined the human. Everything about was so different! Her hair, skin, eyes, voice, clothes, and probably more that wasn't visible. She walked around her touching her hair with her beak, as well as her clothes. She sat down in front of the woman and gazed into her alien colored eyes. So whats your name, Pale skin? Where you from? Whats your hawk's name? What were those things that were with you? Are you from the Goddess Asteria? Sahara finally asked rather quickly, almost molding all her questions into one mesh of a sentence.

Re: Night Embraced Yssala hesitated from putting her weapon away as Sahara went around sniffing her hair and clothes. However, once the roc seemed to be friendly, she put away her dagger, and sat back down. The faeries came out again from behind the rocks when they realized that it was not a threat, nor a human, and they began to dance around Yssala's head, playing with her hair and murmuring sweet things to her. Yssala sat down on the ground again, crossing her legs and looking up at the Roc, smiling at Sahara's impatient questioning. She began slowly, answering each of Sahara's questions.
"My name is Yssala," she replied quietly, taking out a blanket to keep her skin warm against the bitter wind that picked up. "I originate in a village that is on the border of the Du Weldenvarden. What about you? Where do you come from?" Yssala looked at Astral and smiled. "Forgive him, he's not used to other birds directly conversing with him like that. His name is Astral, he's been watching over me for quite some time. He protects me..." "Oh, and these?" She looked around at the faeries who smiled at her. "These are my friends, the fair folk, or commonly known as faeries. I'm able to speak their langauge, while others seem to not hear what they say...except for creatures of the forest." Yssala raised an eyebrow curiously at Sahara when she mentioned about a Goddess...that raised a question of her own. "I have never heard of her. Re: Night Embraced Where is Du Weldenvarden? She asked. When the creatures returned to float around Yssala, she took a few steps back, unsure about them. I've never seen or heard of them, She said wary. Sahara's eyes stayed on the lights, or faeries as Yssala called them, she didn't even hear her question. Huh? Oh, well legends say that the gods and goddess' will send one of thier ... "helpers" to the Earth, to interact with the people and see how the world is. The reason I thought your were from her is because, well, Asteria is the Goddess of night and stars, and the moon was shining on you, and you looked like you were trying to speak to Asteria. Plus these Faeries looked like little mini stars floating around you, Sahara explained to her embarrassed. Oh! You asked me were I was from right? I hatched in a tribal village in the Hadarac.

Re: Night Embraced "Du Weldenvarden is north east from here," Yssala explained, while looking at Sahara's expression of the faeries. "Oh, you needen't fear them, they will not harm you. These faeries originate from the forest, they are quite peaceful. Most faeries are gentle, though timid, and very misunderstood."
Yssala laughed. "No, I was not talking to this goddess, though that would be an interesting concept since I know nothing of my past...all I know is that my parents died when I was very young." She sighed and looked up at the moon. "Your Goddess sounds very kind, from my interpretation that is..." Yssala had never been thought of anything more than a mere human, let alone some messenger of the moon and stars, what Sahara said made Yssala wonder... "Have you been in the village for your entire life?" Re: Night Embraced Sahara looked on the direction of which Yssala spoke of, her eyes filled with wonderment thinking about the forest. I should go there someday, I've never seen a forest,She told herself as well as Yssala. As she spoke one of the faeries landed on the edge of her beak. Sahara went crossed eyed so she would be able to see it, she cocked her head, amazed and confused by the small creatures. The faery darted off her and went back to floating round Yssala, Sahara giggled as the creature flew off. Whats so misunderstood about them? It's not like people think they're evil right? Sahara asked wanting to know more of the tiny creatures. When Yssala mentioned her parents, she lowered her head so it was right next to hers and stared into the moon. Yes, she brings light into the darkest of nights. I'm sorry about your parents, I never met my parents either, Sahara said softly. When Yssala asked her of her home, Sahara lifted her head up, and answered, Yes, my egg was found by a man named Atlas, while he was out hunting in the desert. I was raised to protect the Tribe from rabid animals and raiders, but ... I failed.

Re: Night Embraced Yssala's eyes were sad as she remembered what happened back in living in the forest with her grandmother. "The village folk were not very understanding, they thought that the faeries were mischevious creatures that tormented humans as they slept."
The faeries gasped as their floating around her stopped. "I was the only one who seemed to hear what they had to say, to see what their wisdom could teach us," Yssala went on in a whisper, which made the faeries continued to dance around her. She looked up and laughed as one of the faeries that went up towards Sahara came back to join his friends. "Yes, they are quite playful, and they seemed to have taken a shine to you." Yssala looked at Sahara with sympathy. "You had the responsibility of keeping an entire tribe safe? Re: Night Embraced Well, I can't really blame them. They do have this mischievous look about them, but I doubt they would torment anybody while they sleep, Sahara said watching the faeries dance. As the faeries spun and danced, it started to make Sahara dizzy. Once she broke her concentration on them, she laughed once again. And I to them, she said happily. She looked down at Yssala when she asked what happened. I didn't do it alone, we had warriors ready to defend as well, but it was my job to keep away the people the were trying to attacks so we didn't have to lose lives in a useless fight. No night, just as everyone was getting ready for bed, it sounded as though a stampede was headed our way. It was raiders, but they weren't alone, they had wolves. Big ones, strong ones. They greatly out numbered us, not including their pets. They had the wolves attack me, before they tied me up and dragged me away. The last thing I remember seeing before I fell unconscious was my father, Atlas trying to save me. I woke up hearing how they were going to kill me, but then a large gust of wind hit and when I looked over to where the humans were, they were gone. That when I escaped, Sahara told Yssala sadly not even looked her in the eye as she spoke. I think Ra, that God of Wind saved me, she said, more confidently to her.

Re: Night Embraced Luna flew along the edge of the Hadarac. She was just barely old enough to breathe fire and was exploring her newly claimed territory, the Hadarac. She had chosen the dry, barren wasteland for two reasons, she loved the warmth, and there were rarely ever any clouds in the sky, meaning that she could see the moon any time that it was out and watch the spirits of the moon come down and dance. That was something she had always loved.
She flew with a silvery white light glowing around her to light her path through the night, ever so often, she would look up at the bright moon above and feel empowered as a dragoness of the moon. It was not long during her flight that she saw two figures, they were sitting near each other on a rocky outcrop some meters away. She slowly flew over to them and before revealing her presence, asked, Hello there, may I join you? _________________ Role-Playing Characters: Ara The dragon of illusion. Re: Night Embraced I know right?! And if he saved me then Set must've saved the tribe! She exclaimed happily. Well, Ra is the god of wind, and Set is the god of sand, she started to explain, Together they rule over the deserts. Creating powerful winds, and large sand dunes. The two are much more stern than some of the other deities. I remember this one story where Ra and Set got mad at a tribe so they created a powerful sandstorm and destroyed them so a new tribe could arise. Sahara showed Yssala the bracelet that she wore on her ankle. Those are the crests of Ra and Set, she told her indicating to the two beads that were different from the rest.
When Sahara heard wing beats she turned to see ... something coming towards them. She jumped back, she'd never seen such a creature! A lizard with wings .... weird, she thought. Re: Night Embraced Yssala soaked in Sahara's story-telling, as she told Yssala of Ra and Set. "That is amazing. I have certianly never heard of any gods such as them, but they are noble, and I am glad they have savd your tribe as well. And your bracelet is lovely." When Sahara asked what the creature that descended from the sky was, she laughed and nodded, standing up. "Yes, that is a dragon. They've become quite common over the past few years. Though I have never met her before..."
Yssala looked over at the silvery dragoness, and smiled warmly in welcome. "Yes, you may. I am Yssala, and these are my friends, the fair folk," she referred to the fairies dancing next to her, "and my hawk friend Astral." Astral said nothing, for he must have drifted off to sleep. Re: Night Embraced Luna landed beside the larger bird and the woman and said, I am Luna, the moon dragoness, and daughter of Eroth and Ara. said the dragoness, who caused her scales to light up wiht a soft silvery white glow, that made her look almost exactly like the moon itself to express her point. She looked around at the faeries and said, They are quite beautiful, like the moon spirits who gave me my amulet and powers, only smaller. said the dragoness as one of the faeries danced about her head. She smiled and said, So, what brings you out here?
