Moonlight
OOC: This is an open thread, though I don't want anymore than three or four people, please. Keep it small for the shy guy. Though, let draco join first, cause I know she's eager to. IC: Sol crept silently through the trees, trying to keep his glittering pearl white scales from sight even though he knew that no one was nearby. He heard something far to his right and he instantly sank to the ground, fear gripping him. After a few moments of nothing happening he slowly stood back up again, his long graceful neck arching as he roved his lapis lazuli (midnight blue spattered with flecks of gold) eyes around his surroundings. He saw nothing that meant harm. His delicate, deer-like ears pricked alertly forward, listening. He didn't hear anything either. He crouched slightly and crept forward again, ears twitching uneasily. The new moon was two nights away, and he had been searching for his shelter that he needed for that night. On the new moon he was worse than helpless; he could barely move at all. He needed shelter, though why he was searching for shelter in the Beor mountains, where there were Nagra three times his size roaming around freely, he didn't know.
He continued creeping until he felt his stomach rumble hungrily. He scowled at it in annoyance, snorting a small plume of white-pearl flames that dissipated quickly. He gave a resigned sigh when it rumbled again. He sank to his belly and prowled forward, searching for prey. He caught the scent of a deer herd and crept forward, discovering the meadow that contained them. He held completely still for several minutes, patience settling into the forefront of his mind. When there was two dear close enough to him to pounce on, he did just that. He pounced and with a snap of his teeth, they both were dead. He grasped them by the neck and pulled them off to the side in the cover of the trees. He hungrily stripped off a piece of steaming meat and swallowed it whole, uncaring that it went down uncomfortably. He ate warily, always pausing between bites to look up for predators that might steal his food. He shuffled his wings as he ate as well, instinct telling him to appear larger than anything that might come along.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Of course you may join. I would maybe recommend Yssala? Sol needs someone that he can trust, since he's so skittish around other people (of any race). So then the order would be me, draco, Brisineo (he asked to join in pm), and then you. If anyone else wishes to join, please pm me, as I'm uncertain if I want any more people.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Alright, time to post. I'll start with Phal. IC: Phalynx sailed contentedly through the huge mountains, her scales glittering softly as she passed through their shadows. She was flying too low to give off light (as she didn't really want to be seen easily in a place where she could be attacked) but it still didn't help that she was painfully conspicuous. She was looking for a place to rest for a while, since she had been flying for a long time. Constant patrolling did get old after a while. Maybe she would return to the valley in a few days to take a breather. She smiled at the thought and spilled some of the air from her large wings to drift ever-lower.
As she was flying at a relaxed pace, scanning the ground, she noticed a small group of deer bolting along a wooded mountainside, as if from a predator. She searched in the direction they had come from and saw something large and dragon-shaped ahead. She spread her wings to their full extent and backwinged a few times to slow her approach until she was almost hovering. The dragon was small, and was sheltered by trees so she could only see his heat signature and some of his magic. The magic itself was glittering and light, and rather soothing to look at. Hello? Who is down there? I mean you no harm, she called softly with her mind, filling her mental touch with her inner light and as much warmth as she could muster, for this dragon was not familiar and she was hoping to make a new friend.

Re: Moonlight
Vedrian opened his eyes upon hearing the steady beat of wings. It was far, but not too much.
He raised his head and looked around; his Rider, Deviandar, lay asleep near his side. He was relaxed on a small ledge against an extremely tall cliffside looking down into the valley far below, something they both loved to do whenever they weren't practicing something new.
Looking down, he saw what he could barely see was a silver dragon that floated smoothly in the black night. Much unlike the Fanghur that he rarely saw now. . . They never came even near to this place after discovering Deviandar's hidden form.
Nudging his Rider, he calmly, but tensely nudged his mind. Wake up.
Deviandar groggily opened his eyes, "What? What is it, Vedrian?"
Quiet. There is a dragon in this valley.
Deviandar looked up at his dragon as if he was joking at first. Well, apart from you or including you?
Apart from me, rock-head. Vedrian humorously answered back as his Rider crawled to the edge of the ledge to get a better look. The silver dragon seemed to be looking down at something, but the light was so dim he could barely see it.
Even still, something was strange about this dragon. . . It seemed lighter, more agile, more. . . elegant. He relayed his thoughts to Bris, as he liked to be called, but he ignored it.
Let us see what it does. He relayed back, I don't want to get included to hastily.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Alrighty then, sweet. Astral, when you get the chance to post you can go after Brisineo, capeesh? XD
IC: Sol's ears twitched as he heard faint wingbeats but they were so soft that he disregarded it as a large bird of prey. He jumped when he felt a mind brush against his, lifting his head and looking about wildly, tensed for attack. Hello? Who is down there? I mean you no harm, he heard. The voice was female, definitely. His ears swiveled around, searching for the wingbeats again. He felt his muscles relax as he registered the warmth in her mental tone. He swallowed hard. He hadn't spoken mentally in a long time. Tentatively he crept forward out of the trees and looked up. The little bit of the moon that showed hit his scales straight on, making them glitter a pearl white instead of the sick white-grayish color they had turned into because of the waning phase of the moon. The silver strip in his left eye glowed softly with the moons light. Hesitantly he lowered his head in a polite gesture to the star silver dragoness that he saw hovering above him. Hel-hello. he stuttered, shuffling from foot to foot uneasily. He remained quiet, looking around at the surrounding area, his deer-like ears flicking back and forth, then back up at her. I am Sol. he said, and then instinct won over and made him back up until only his head was visible.

Re: Moonlight
Phalynx flapped her wings backwards once more in an effort to drift along at an even slower pace. The dragonesque shape emerged from the trees, and she immediately noted the pearly-silver coloration and delicate, almost mammalian ears that continually swiveled and twitched as if picking up every tiny sound. She had certainly never seen another dragon quite like this one. Suddenly, she caught a flash of light from his left eye, and looking closer, she saw a small stripe of silver across it. Intrigued, she let herself lose more height until she landed neatly on the open ground beyond the trees and in front of the new dragon, Sol. I am pleased to meet you, Sol. My name is Phalynx, she introduced with a warm smile. She stepped gradually closer and smiled again. May I ask where you're from? I've never seen you before, or any dragon quite like you, actually--and I've done a lot of traveling, she continued, wanting to know a little more about this dragon. He seemed quite shy and slightly nervous, but she didn't blame him for such a disposition. She would wait until they were better acquainted to ask about the discoloration in his eye. The gold stripe going across her right iris was clearly visible, glowing just faintly as she used her powers.

Re: Moonlight
Vedrian and Deviandar remained silent in unison, as they examined the dragon.
To Vedrian especially, it was strange seeing another of his kind, even if this dragon seemed so. . . different. As if it was a completely new creature altogether. He tilted his head as it attempted to slow itself by flapping backwards; he knew that it was investigating something of it's own.
Vedrian, look. Deviandar commanded, pointing towards the forest where the dragon was examining.
Tracing the creature's line of sight, he looked down in the trees with the best his vision had to offer. I don't see. . . Wait!
A trace of a delicate silver peeked through the canopy, before disappearing again altogether. There is something else down there. . .
It almost looked like. . . Moonlight. Deviandar observed, replaying the memory.
Vedrian began tilting forwards, as if he was preparing for flight. I want to meet them.
No! Deviandar hissed, showing Vedrian his concern, For all we know, they could be hostile. If we appear too suddenly, especially at this time of night. We would just either scare them off or provoke them into attack. Be patient, friend.
Vedrian snorted softly and leaned back into his previous position. They don't look that bad to me. . .
Let us just watch them for a few more minutes. . . See what they do.
Fine.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Alrighty I'll bring in Yssala now.
IC:
Yssala clambered over some roots and branches that were fallen and dead underfoot, hurrying to find a safe place for camp. It had been many hours since nightfall, and she wished she would have listened to her instincts about setting up a camp around sunset where she could still see. Even with her elemental magic and the light emitting from the faeries, it would be dangerous in these mountains without proper fire light to ward off any potential predetors.
The faeries whispered to her, telling her that things were okay. Pheo was up above, following Yssala until he was sure that she was safe for the night and he could get some rest himself. Yssala, for what was worth, felt safe knowing she had friends to back her up whenever things got tough.
Ahead, Yssala could hear some rustling as though the deer were startled. Something had been chasing them. Eventually that stopped, and then the sounds of wing beats as something from above descended upon whatever was ahead. She took no chances, Yssala hid behind a tree and took out her bow with an arrow strung in. She peeked around, getting a better glance at what exactly had landed. She let go a breath she was holding, it was nothing more than two dragons conversing, though she had to keep her guard up. Both appeared to be wild, and Yssala didn't know how wild dragons would react upon seeing a human walking about this time of night. She watched for a while, listening to what they were saying. Both sounded very intelligent for being wild, and both gave off light from their scales, one starlight the other moonlight. Yssala couldn't help but observe them from afar, especially since they seemed so different from any type of dragon she had ever encountered before.

Re: Moonlight
Sol's ears flicked back uneasily as the star-like dragoness descended until she alighted a bit in front of him. Phalynx, as she called herself, greeted him properly, and involuntarily his ears pricked forward a little. A pleasure to meet you too, Phalynx. he murmured, dipping his head low politely. He shuffled a bit on his feet from side to side, lapis lazuli eyes glancing from place to place in search of a way out in case things turned ugly. He tilted his head slightly to the right, making the light catch the silver strip once more, though he didn't know it himself. I...I travel around a lot too. he said hesitantly, his lips peeling back in a very slight smile. Where I come from... he paused, unsure, and then frowned. I don't know where I'm from, precisely. he said, and his ears flattened to his skull automatically. He took a step back and lowered his head a bit more. I'm sorry I can not give you a full answer. I...remember very little, especially anything before... he trailed off a bit and frowned once more. Before what? he asked himself.

Re: Moonlight
Phal smiled warmly at the dragon, hoping to make a good impression. He still seemed quite reluctant to speak or move out from his sheltered location. Her tail twitched slightly in concern when he began speaking but trailed off as if he didn't remember the things he was trying to speak about. She was about to reply, but paused when a glint of moonlight caught the silver in his left eye. She would definitely have to ask him about it when she gained more of his trust. He continued, confirming that his memory was the problem. She smiled gently. It is no problem, and I do not mean to pry. I am sorry you don't remember more, she said consolingly. How about I tell you a little more about myself so that you don't feel like I'm drilling you for answers, Sol? she added with a laugh. Giving away more information about herself often worked to gain trust in others, and she felt free to divulge quite a bit of information about herself.
Phalynx paused and twisted her head around to survey their surroundings, remembering that the Beors were often hostile territory. She berated herself for not scanning the ground completely before landing; it was a habit she was trying to develop. Her sight passed through tree and stone, gathering the heat of the living things. Something warmer, surrounded by strange magic, caught her attention to one side. It was a two-leg, observing them from afar. A smaller organism was nearby her, some sort of large bird. Phal let her eyes flash with golden light. I can see you there, human. Please come out if you are a friend; we will not harm you, she called softly, repeating the last in the Ancient Language to show her sincerity. She glanced toward Sol to see how he took in the information that they were being watched. OOC: I'll wait to see if your charries reveal themselves in your next post, Bris. Otherwise Phal may "spot" them lol.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Hehe. . . Well, they haven't been found by nearly anyone for nearly 50 years for no reason. (Besides, I want them to enter in a little later, if that's okay.) Brisineo stepped back in caution when the brilliant silver-white dragon turned it's head, as if it was looking around for a noise. Get back, Ved. It may spot us.Me? It is you making all the noise. . . The chartreuse dragon snorted. Just be still and let me hide ourselves from their vision. . . I'm not sure of this dragon, but if it's anything like you. . . I have to be extra careful in my cloak. Deviandar said this while his lips soundlessly mouthed a very long line in the ancient language with the extreme self-given discipline he had from his time alone. Within moments, he felt a slight chill overcome him as both he and Vedrian were all but erased from the physical world. The air around them was filtered, preventing their scents reaching the dragon, along with any hints of sight, sound, or even temperature, remembering some certain spells used to find invisible people. All but their minds were hidden from sight, which Vedrian protected both. Brisineo then felt his way towards Vedrian and climbed atop the saddle. Now, I guess we can get a closer look if you want, Ved, but keep your distance.Vedrian naively agreed with a faint, cheerful acknowledgement before leaping off the cliff into the air; his wingbeats silent from the magic placed around him. Looking down from their height, which was twice as high as the star-silver dragon in the air, they could barely see the form of another creature, who's hide shone like the dim crescent moon, and hid in the brush like a frightened animal. . . It probably was one. But the star-like dragon had it's attention on something else, it was looking towards a thicker part of the forest. They both circled silently in the air, watching as the events unfolded.

Re: Moonlight
Yssala felt surprised that one of the dragons had spotted her so easily. Was it the sense of smell perhaps? She was curious now. Even though the female dragon assured her that they were not going to harm her she still held her bow and arrow in her hands as she side-stepped the trees. In her long braid the faeries clung on, hiding behind her as though they were decorative lights. They assured Yssala that the dragons were not going to harm them, though how they always knew whether someone was friend or foe was beyond Yssala's recognition.
"Forgive me," Yssala said quietly to both dragons, stringing her bow along her shoulder. "I always assess a situation before I jump out and go straight into greetings. I mean none of you harm, I am a young mage accompanied by faeries and a red-tailed hawk named Pheo." Pheo screeched in response. "My name is Yssala, and I've just been travelling looking for a place to camp for the night. The Beor Mountains, as I'm sure you both are aware how dangerous they are, much less during the day as it is by night." She looked curiously at the starry dragoness and couldn't help but ask, "How did you know I was there behind the tree? Surely your sense of smell picked it up but then again the tree I was behind was rotted out and long dead." She looked between the two dragons, and added as she blushed, "Oh I'm sorry, I hope I didn't disturb you if you were in the middle of something important. I can leave if you wish it."

Re: Moonlight
Sol's ears flicked back and forth sheepishly, but he raised his head up once more. He tilted his head curiously, unable to help himself. I believe that would help, perhaps. he said quietly, the tip of his tail twitching a little. He stiffened and his ears swiveled forward as Phalynx found someone near them. He tensed to run, instinct pummeling at him to do so. He stayed in place, however, forcing his legs to not tremble with unease. No, no, you are fine. he assured Yssala, a slight smile pulling at his muzzle. I am Sol. he said, dipping his head slightly but not moving his eyes so that he could keep her in his vision. He turned to look at Phalynx, for he had noticed something else about her that entrigued him. Your eyes...they glow gold. And that golden strip in your right eye....what is it from? he asked, tilting his head to the side and taking a few steps closer subconsciously.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: @FE: Well she can see the magic of others as well but I'll wait for you to have your charries join when they wish lol.
IC: Phal smiled as the young female crept into view, her posture suggesting caution. She nodded when Sol said it was fine if she stayed. Yes, stay as long as you wish. There is usually safety around dragons, after all. My name is Phalynx, and it's a pleasure to meet you, she told Yssala, eyes warm. She did enjoy making new friends, and here were two possible friends. She glanced back at Sol with a grin when he asked about her eye. I suppose I can start telling you more about myself, then. That's a good place to start. And it'll answer your questions as well, Yssala. Most of my powers revolve around light, and in sight. I can see other forms of light not visible to most others, as well as the magic of the world that isn't usually visible. When I do that my eyes glow, unless I stop them, she began, pausing to give a small chuckle, and I think the stripe has to do with that. When I was still in my egg there was a weak spot in the shell which cracked. A beam of sunlight entered it through the crack and I was left with this marking. I was hatched in the Hadarac. She folded her wings and decided to rest in the grass, laying with her limbs beneath her for comfort, though her head was still upright and alert.
And you said something about faeries, Yssala? Are those the small creatures around you? Would you mind if I got a closer look at one? I have never seen a faery before, and they are quite beautiful, Phal inquired, her gaze resting on a few of the small, glittering creatures. She decided to ask this question first instead of inquiring about Sol's own marking in his left eye. She was a very curious dragon, but knew she had to be careful about sounding nosy. She would ask him when he seemed more comfortable.

Re: Moonlight
Vedrian dove down slightly to get a better look. After a while of waiting, a female human with eerie lights surrounding her appeared through the brush. They waited, but the dragons didn't attack her, and she strung the bow over her shoulder.
Like I said, Bris, they look nice enough.
What if she knows the dragons already? Bris cautioned back, Again, we don't know their motives.
He paused, his voice growing dark. And even if they are kind. . . I don't want to endanger them.
. . . If you insist. Vedrian sighed as they lowered their altitude again until they were several feet above the starlit dragon. They then waited for the right moment and then dove quickly into a nearby clearing in the forest.
Keeping the magic barrier firm, Vedrian and Deviandar silently sneaked through the trees with the knowledge and experience of their years in this wilderness, until the human came into sight. They stopped, and listened.

Re: Moonlight
Yssala smiled back at the dragons. "Sol, Phalynx, it's a pleasure to meet you both as well." She bowed her head slightly, while Sol questioned Phal about her golden eyes and stripe. She listened as Phal described her special connection with light and how she recieved her stripe. It was quite peculiar, Yssala had never heard of such a thing before. When Phal asked about the faeries that had followed Yssala around, she grinned. "Being the only mage in my village, I was considered an outsider. The faeries that lived just outside our village were always hated by my people and yet they must have seen something in me to follow and guide me whenever I need their help. And I don't mind," she added. "They only dislike humans."
As she spoke three of the faeries floated up towards Phal, their orange butterfly-like wings glowing orange and yellow. They laughed and giggled as they flew around Phal as they examined her closely. "I guess that's why I'm more compatible with animals and dragons, I was always in touch with nature and its creatures where most humans are not." She added with a laugh, "Better watch it though, the faeries are very mischevious." The faeries pretended to be offended as they flew down and scolded Yssala in their language. She just laughed. "Werasteir ue oa Iraele, she apologized. Then she looked up at Sol. "Have you and Phalynx known each other long then?"

Re: Moonlight
Sol's ears flicked forward with interest as Phalynx explained more about her powers and why she had a golden strip in her eye. When he finished he smiled slightly. It was small, but genuine. That is very intriguing indeed. he said, his lapis lazuli eyes glittering warmly. His ears flicked back though when Yssala asked how long he had known Phalynx. Um...five minutes? he said in a tone that made it sound like a question instead of a statement. He looked at the faeries, his ears pricking forward curiously. He smiled warmly at the little creatures. Hello there. he murmured in greeting. He looked about uneasily, feeling like he was being watched. He shivered, then looked up at the small crescent of the moon. He stepped forward into its soothing light, closing his eyes as he felt it wash over his pearl-white scales like warm water. He reopened his eyes, and the strip in his left eye was releasing a gentle silvery glow. He shook himself. The moonlight also turned his spikes and talons into a glittering opal. He turned to Phalynx and Yssala. Are either of you tired? I thought I found a cave earlier that we could retire to. he said, and tilted his head to the side.

Re: Moonlight
Phal's scales prickled and she abruptly felt like she was being watched. She twisted her head to glance behind her, but nothing was there. Shaking her head, she turned back to see three tiny faeries fluttering near her. She stretched out her neck to place her nostrils and eyes closer to the creatures, and got a good look at their magic. Her sense of smell was fairly poor compared to most dragons, but registering the scents of things was always a good idea. She breathed in the air around the faeries and grinned at them, laughing as they darted away to scold Yssala. She laughed again at Sol's answer to Yssala's question. Yes, all of us are new to each other it seems, she remarked. Sol stepped out of the trees, and immediately his appearance shifted. The moonlight washing over him gave him a much more vibrant, radiant appearance. Even the mar in his eye was glowing to reflect it. The star-silver nodded. That sounds good, Sol. It will be nice to get some rest. I do a lot of traveling, and it can get tiring sometimes. Care to lead the way? she replied with a smile, glancing around them in a quick check of their surroundings.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Alright, going to introduce my own charries into this.
IC: Deviandar looked with a calm caution as he studied each dragon. Both the starlit dragon and the moonlit dragon were graceful, and very peaceful. They also shared the similar trait of having a stripe of color striking through one eye. He looked in wonder as a beam of moonlight hit it as it walked out of the shade, causing him to seem to glow in power. According to the human, one was named Sol, the other Phalanx, but he didn't know which was which yet. He wished to hear what they were saying, but that would take away his cover and he might as well walk up to them himself to find out.
The human also intrigued him. She was surrounded by small, glowing creatures. Yet she seemed so young and vulnerable to be so far out into the wilderness, yet he knew she had to have some type of experience to have survived this long in the Beors. He listened to what she was saying to the dragons about herself, explaining why she was where she was and what those strange creatures were. He had never heard of Faeries, but they interested him and Vedrian greatly.
They admired the creatures in appreciation, but their attention was drawn by a distant sound coming from the brush behind them. He looked back, and gasped when he saw an Urzhad, a great mountain bear that could easily match Vedrian in size and strength, moving through the trees as if they were mere sticks. It must have caught the group's scent, and by the looks if it, it was hungry.
That thing could have both those dragons for breakfast! Vedrian gasped in amazement, I don't know if I could even hold him off.
Deviandar looked at both Vedrian, Sol and Phalanx, and then at the Urzhad. He hated situations like this, but it was important if anyone was going to survive. He shed his cloak of magic, and ran at full speed through the trees towards the beast. He stopped in it's path, and waited for only a few seconds before the bear ripped up the section of forest in front of him, and paused when it's beady eyes focused on him. It stared silently at him for only a few seconds, before Deviadnar raised his hand, letting out a bright green glow radiate from the mark on his palm.
The bear took a step back. Even the creatures of the mountains knew who he was by his scent. They all feared him. Even to the very point were the great Urzhad that would kill dragons for food, would stop in his presence. "Ganga" he whispered softly to the bear. The Urzhad replied with a low whimpering growl and turned back in a full retreat. Taking a deep sigh of relief, Deviandar turned back, and gulping down his fear, revealed himself to the trio from the thicket of trees, Vedrian silently shuffling along behind him with an eager look in his eye. "Hello." Bris gulped, "May I ask why you are out in this time of night? There are dangers in the mountains. If I had not been here, you would have been bear bait." He gestured towards the retreating bear, with a slight dry smirk.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Ack sorry I hadn't realized it was my turn in this >.< my bad I'll go now IC: Yssala laughed at Sol's reply about only knowing Phal for a few minutes. "That's okay. It's nice to make new friends anyway." The fairies, after playfully scolding her, investigated Sol next when he greeted them. One of them flew over towards Sol, examining his scales as he stepped into the moonlight, radiating off the light as though they were the moon. Yssala watched with wonder as the scales glowed; she always felt a special connection with the moon itself and she was extremely curious to know what connection this dragon had with the moon. But she would ask him later, especially since everyone had grown exhausted over the course of the night.
Just as she agreed to go with Sol and Phalynx, a roar erupted from the woods behind them. She immediately turned and drew her bow to defend them when a young male human had stepped out and murmured something at the advancing mountain bear. Whatever he said sent the bear running. She raised an eyebrow, knowing that the bears of the mountains were extremely violent and agressive, hardly stepping away from a battle even if they're outmatched. Yssala released the tension of her bow when she realized there was nothing coming towards them. She strung her bow behind her back and crossed her arms, suspicion burning in her gaze.
"I'm nothing more than a traveller," she stated, immediately clamming up and being blunt. With humans, it was more difficult to find trust in them especially since she had a more special connection with creatures. "You said so yourself, the Beors are dangerous, so what are you doing out here at this time of night? And trust me, these mounains don't scare me. I can handle myself," she added for good measure.

Re: Moonlight
Sol smiled at Phalynx and Yssala, nodding in ascent. He turned to lead the way back to the cave he had found, but froze at the roar. Terror swept through him and he didn't wait to see what had caused it, instinct telling him to get away. He bolted, running away from the sound as fast as he could. He finally slowed when he was several hundred feet away from the group and stood shaking with his neck bowed to the ground and his eyes clenched, panting to calm himself. He pressed his side into the trunk of a tree, gradually opening his eyes and staring at the grass in front of his nose. He swallowed hard, then lifted his head up and scented the air, his ears twitching. Reluctantly he turned and slowly padded back to the group. He slowed when he could hear them again, then stopped all together when he knew they could see his head. He didn't go any closer; he saw the new twoleg and the chartreuse green dragon. I apologize. I remember hearing a very loud crash when I was still in my egg. I panic and bolt without thinking whenever I hear a loud noise. he said sheepishly, his ears folding back against his skull like a scolded puppy's.

Re: Moonlight
Phal smiled as Sol turned away from them, however she twisted around at the roar, instinct causing her wings to flare and her scales to erupt into silver light. It wasn't too bright as to be difficult to look at, but it did cast starlight all around them in the clearing. She saw the enormous mountain bear as well as the two-leg forcing it away with magic. A dragon, his scales a vivid bright green color, waited beyond. Sol had darted away in fright at the noise, and the silver glanced back briefly to check on him as she let her scales dim and her wings resettle along her back. The two-leg approached them and asked about what they were doing. Yssala retorted in a rather suspicious and prickly manner, and Phal remembered her speaking of being more trusting of creatures than other two-legs. I am a traveler as well, and we met up here out of curiosity. My name is Phalynx, and I have fought worse than that before, she replied in an amiable tone, giving a small grin. May I ask your names? she added, glancing between the pair. When Sol spoke up again, seemingly embarassed about fleeing, Phal glanced back at him with a smile. It's alright, Sol. It's natural to react that way to some things if you have a bad experience with them in the past, she told him.

Re: Moonlight
Brisineo made a slight chuckle at the traveler's courage. "That may be so, but the slightest scent of blood would have sent more than just that bear your way. I live here, or at least, nearby, in complete exile. I was resting with my dragon when I saw all of you conversing with each other, so I apologize for eavesdropping. I only intervened with the bear. . . The creatures of this forest know me, so I was able to ward him off."
He and Vedrian glanced at the moonlit dragon. It seemed to have attempted to flee when the bear roared. He let out another low chuckle. "Do not worry. . . As long as I am here, the creatures of the forest will not bother us"
Vedrian looked up at Phalanx, astonished at the silver light. I am Vedrian, and my Rider is Deviandar. But he prefers to be called Brisineo. . . But do not think yourself completely safe. He glanced farther down the valley, There is a Fangur nest nearby that would send a swarm of them that would greatly outnumber and outmatch even the most powerful of magicians or dragons, including ourselves. They do not really respect Deviandar as much as the bears do, so you would find us not much help there.
OOC: i'm dealing with some pretty bad medical conditions, so don't expect me to be on as often. . .

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Aw that's too bad Brisineo I hope you get better soon!IC: Yssala huffed, however she thanked him. "I suppose having someone more familiar with the mountains is better than winding up in an unneeded fight." She didn't add that she had travelled all over Alagaisea by foot and had become accustomed in the ways of the animals. There were far more dangerous territories farther west that she had endured however she hadn't said anything. She didn't know Brisineo well enough to already start an argument. When the dragon Vedrian spoke, Yssala was taken by surprise that she had spotted a Fangur so close to them. She wouldn't have known, and Pheo's talent lay with seeing, not smelling. At this time of night Pheo would not have been able to see anything unless they were up close.
"My name is Yssala, I'm a mage in training," she replied to the duo's greeting. "We were just looking for some shelter for the night, perhaps you'd like to join us? To sleep for the night would be dangerous." If this human had a dragon partner, and they were willing to point out the danger close by, Yssala felt she could trust them...for the time being. She added to Sol, "It's completely understandable. It wasn't your fault all those noises outside your egg were going on. You needn't apologize."

Re: Moonlight
Sol's ears flicked back and forth, but he lifted his head. I am glad that you understand. he murmured to Phalynx and Yssala. His lapis lazuli eyes slitted at Vedrian. I know of them. I've even helped them hunt a time or two and defend their nest. They leave me alone mostly now, unless I encroach on their territory without reason or permission. I've traveled through these mountains extensively and know more or less every inch of them, except for the very highest peaks. he said calmly. He turned then, continuing on the way to his temporary home. He flicked his tail in invitation. The cave is this way. Please follow me. Brisineo, Vedrian, you are welcome to come as well. he said, though he didn't pause to see if they would follow.
He padded on for at least ten minutes, his nostrils flaring from time to time as he checked for his own scent. Finally he ducked under a group of vines and stepped to the side, revealing a black hole in the side of the mountain. It is kind of small, and I apologize for that, but if myself, Yssala, and Brisineo squeeze into the back of the cave, then Phal and Vedrian should have room. he offered, his ears flicking back and forth a bit.

Re: Moonlight
Phalynx nodded politely to the stranger, wondering why he lived here in exile. She thought it would be far too nosy of her to ask, however. She nodded again at Yssala's first statement. Yes it will be. I am very widely-traveled, but I do not know many places intimately. Thank you for your help, she added, addressing Brisineo and Vedrian with a smile. She followed after Sol when he led the way, interested to hear that he also knew the area quite well. It was somewhat surprising that he had not met the pair before tonight. As they approached the moon-like dragon's cave, the silver gave it a brief internal inspection, and also surveyed their surroundings. They had received several surprises tonight already, and Phal was intent on making sure it didn't happen again. At Sol's suggestion, she blinked and stared around the group. Oddly enough, she was one of the two largest members. Usually she was one of the smaller members of the group, if she was with other dragons. You have a lovely home, Sol. A beautiful area. And it seems well-protected, she remarked to the young dragon with a friendly tail-twitch.

Re: Moonlight
Brisineo was cautious as always, but he nodded in thanks when he was invited. Even though he preferred to go back to his perch in the mountains with Vedrian, he had already gained the trust of the dragons and Yssala. He might as well get to know them. He was impressed as well that Sol knew the Fangur so well. Ever since he and Vedrian arrived, they haven't been so fond of them, especially when Brisineo transforms into a terrifying beast that destroys their land, and chase away their food in his rage.
He silently trailed behind the group, and sighted the small cave. Looking almost annoyingly at Vedrian, he knew that everyone wouldn't fit inside comfortably. Vedrian responded with a similar look back before turning to the others. I don't want to make your home too cramped, Sol. I will be glad, however, to sit and listen from outside. I'll keep watch for any further danger.
Brisineo nodded to Vedrian in agreement and followed close behind Yssala, studying her. He made no attempt to stop even if she saw him, just because it was who he was. He was very intrigued in the human's youth. He had never saw one so young that was able to fight on their own, let alone, a female. Either she was special, or the world beyond the Beors must have been far different than he imagined.
And what of the Faeries? They really interested him just because of their carelessness, and their playfulness. Such joy he had rarely seen in any creature in his entire lifetime. Yet at the same time, it only contrasted with his dark inner feelings and he shunned away from them, and Yssala as they entered the cave.

Re: Moonlight
Yssala followed in silence, her trained eyes always keeping about for any hidden danger more so out of habit and instinct. Her faerie friends kept close, travelling only as far as to the edge of the tress. Then, slowly, they would drift back to her. Unbeknownst to the rest of the group, Pheo followed from above, silently flying along with them.
She stopped and looked around the cave in silent observation. Then she turned to Sol, and smiled. "This seems quite peaceful. I agree with Phalynx, it's lovely." Yssala noticed Brisineo following close behind her, but said nothing. She tried to ignore him as she whispered to the faeries, "Ueae irse oae nanwae,". They nodded, flipped her braided hair, and hurried towards the trees near the cave. Pheo made his perch on the closest tree where he could see the cave, Yssala knew that he was just keeping an eye on the area just in case. She went towards the back as Sol said, finding a nice patch of moss against two rocks. She sat her bow and arrows next to her very closely while the dragons and Brisineo became more settled. It was odd for her, Yssala was used to travelling alone, without the company of other dragons or another person. She drew her knees up to her chest to warm herself and watched as the others figured out what they were going to do for the night.

Re: Moonlight
Zantos walked along the rocky terrain, admiring the beauty of the landscape. He always tried to walk in places where there was no actual path, if only because it made things more interesting. He could feel the weariness of the day coming upon him, as it was getting late, but the tree in front of him was irresistible. Its trunk was bent at a slight angle so that he could easily run up its side. He flexed the muscles on his legs then bounded forward and sprinted up the length of the tree, jumping out of it but grabbing on to one of the thicker branches and using it to propel him around and fling him into the air with even more force. He felt the exhilaration of feeling almost as if he could fly for a few moments before landing on the ground again. The landing made his tired muscles complain a little, but it was hardly anything worth complaining about. It almost felt satisfying. He turned around to look at the tree again and saw something that caught his eye, however. From where he was, he could not tell what it was, but it seemed to give off a small glow of light and darted from place to place. Curious, he went back to the tree to investigate.

Re: Moonlight
Sol smiled a bit sheepishly at Phal and Yssala when they commented on his home. A temporary home, but a home. He flattened his ears as Vedrian offered to stay outside. Alright, if you wish, but if you want to switch out please tell me at anytime. he said quietly, shifting from foot to foot. He glanced back, lapis lazuli eyes scanning for anything amiss. His ears flicked around, listening. He thought he heard something shuffling around, then flicked his tail and ignored it. He slipped into the cave and went to the back where Yssala and Brisineo had already gone and settled themselves in. He curled into a tight ball, not such a difficult task because he was so small already, and laid down on the floor. Vedrian, if you wish, there should be enough space for you to settle in at the mouth of the cave so that you are sheltered from any bad weather that might come through in the night or tomorrow. he offered, his deer-like ears twitching. At the back of the cave was rather dark, at least until ones eyes adjusted to the blackness. Once they had, Sol's form could be vaguely seen and slightly luminous. Not exactly glowing with its own light, more like his body retained the moonbeams that he had stood in and now visibly expelled them. Even the strip in his eye seemed to light up a bit in the darkness. He turned his head and looked at Phal, curiosity crossing his expressing. That flare of light you emitted before from your scales, is that another ability of yours? he asked, tilting his head to the side.

Re: Moonlight
Phal dipped her head politely to Vedrian as she headed into the cave after Sol, letting him get settled before taking a spot midway between the back of the cave with him and the two-legs and the mouth of the cave where she expected the bright green dragon to sit. She twisted around to regard Sol when he asked about her powers again, giving a nod. Yes, it was. I can give off light, and my flame is approximately the same color, she replied, breathing out a small tongue of starfire to demonstrate. The fire looked like burning starlight, illuminating the cave with a silvery glow. All of my powers relate to the stars. Yours seem to be connected to moonlight, however. Do you have any more abilities? she asked Sol, curious about him as well.

Re: Moonlight
OOC: Sorry I've been brain-dead on this rp. I'll reply now. IC: Yssala watched and absorbed everything that the two dragons were conversing of about the moon and the stars. It was intriguing as well as terrifying at the same time. She had never felt such emotions before.
From the darkness, one of the faeries had darted back into the cave, whispering into her ear that the rest of her friends were among the trees and that there was a stranger outside. She could not tell if it was a friend or a foe.
Yssala stood up, taking out her dagger and looking at Sol and Phal. "I don't mean to interrupt, but I think we might have company," she said, nodding her head towards the group of trees far away from the cave.

Re: Moonlight
Zantos looked curiously as the small light darted into the face of the cliff and suddenly disappeared from sight. He thought at first that its light had merely turned off, but then he realized that there must be a hidden cave somewhere around that area. He quickly ran up to the cliffside and started climbing around, searching for the entrance without being very careful of where he was stepping. Every now and then, he nearly lost his footing, but he always managed to regain it. Even if he lost it, it wouldn't be much of a problem, so he needn't have too much caution. As he neared what he guessed was the entrance to the cave, he sensed presences of great power, and heard some noises that any small creature could not possibly make. Hello? he spoke out, swinging around to the mouth of the cave. At first all was darkness, and then as his eyes adjusted he saw a couple of dragons and two other figures. Waiting for their reply, he made no movement to reach for his sword but only looked at them expectantly.

Re: Moonlight
Sol tilted his head to the side a bit, his ears twitching. Abilities? he asked, his lapis lazuli eyes filled with curiosity. I...don't think so. Other than being a lantern in the dark, of course. he said, motioning to his faintly glowing body. Honestly, I don't know. I've tried to avoid others as much as I can while I'm searching, so I've never had the chance to discover anything... he trailed off. His nostrils flared slightly and he looked past everyone out to the entrance of the cave at Yssala's warning. So he had seen something before. His ears twitched again at the greeting he heard. Hello. I'm Sol. Please, enter. he said politely. So many people. First Phalynx, then Yssala and the faeries, then Brisineo and Vedrian, and now another one! He'd never been around this many people in his life. This is probably the most people I've ever met in my entire life of living out here, he thought to himself. If he were to be truthful to himself, he'd realize that he was getting a bit uncomfortable with so many strangers around. But like any other emotion that might upset the peace or upset someone else, he subdued it subconsciously.

Re: Moonlight
Phal nodded thoughtfully at Sol's reply, wondering if he possessed any more abilities or strange powers related to moonlight. He was certainly an interesting dragon. She twisted her head around at Yssala's call, waiting for a few moments. After a little while, a voice from outside echoed in the gloom of the cave. Sol replied, and Phal waited, watching the mouth of the cave. She could see the heat signature of a two-leg outside, just out of sight. His tone had seemed curious and cautious, but friendly. The silver blinked and glanced toward Sol, wondering how he was feeling about all of the other souls around him. He was probably used to living on his own, so meeting so many new dragons and two-legs in such a short amount of time might be strange, even uncomfortable (it was nothing new for Phal, who enjoyed and even made a habit out of meeting new people).

Re: Moonlight
Brisineo watched in silence as they talked. He was very insecure in crowds, as he grew up with only the company of Vedrian to watch. It made him feel small, almost. But at the same time, he could see the insecurity of Sol, so he was able to understand him a lot more.
Vedrian, on the other hand, had detected the stranger's approach long before anyone else, and had drawn back his head keeping his head fixed towards it's source.
When Yssala verbally confirmed that there was another presence, Brisineo had his hand firmly gripped on his sword, ready to attack if need be. Yet when the stranger only turned out to be someone that seemed to be not of any great threat, his grip relaxed. However he or Vedrian didn't feel like greeting anyone else, as they were terrible at it. Instead, he allowed someone else to move to greet the stranger, keeping the combined sight of human and dragon on his every movement.

Re: Moonlight
Yssala allowed her muscles to become untense as the person had not been a huge threat. She put her daggar away, murmuring to her faerie friend that there was no reason to panic in their language. The faerie nodded and flew fast out of the cave, hiding with her other friends above in the canopy near Pheo. She leaned up against the wall of the cave, and slid to the floor, becoming more comfortable, waiting and watching for what the new person would do.
Looking over at Brisineo, she detected a tension in his expression, almost as if being around others made him uneasy as well. Or perhaps it was just that it was almost crowded in the small cave. She said to him, "How have you become aquainted with the surrounding mountains and forests? As we made it clear, not very many people venture out here for the dangers are great." She blushed as she said this, Yssala realizing that she had spoken her question out loud. Normally she wouldn't say anything, let alone ask questions directly towards humans.

Re: Moonlight
Zantos looked around the cave, starting to get an uncomfortable feeling of intrusion. He shook it away and smiled at the woman who had asked him a question.
"I'm just a traveller," he said. "I know these mountains well enough, as I've been here quite a few times. I'm no expert in the terrain, but I like it despite its dangers. Besides, there's really not much I'm scared of," he said, keeping his voice in a friendly tone.
"By the way, I didn't interrupt anything private or important, I hope?" he asked.

Re: Moonlight
Sol's ears pricked to alertness as the human came into sight. His nostrils flared a bit and he shook himself, snorting softly. He smiled slightly at the man, dipping his head a bit in greeting. There are probably worse things in Alagaësia than Nagra (giant wolf) or Beorya (giant cave bear). he said, tilting his head a bit to the side as he spoke. And no, you were not. We all met each other just recently ourselves. Welcome to my home. Temporary home, actually. I travel a lot too, searching. he said, twitching the tip of his tail. He stiffened as he felt an involuntary shudder go down his spine, and knew that the moon had reach it's zenith in the sky. He looked out of the cave and up to the night sky. He couldn't see the moon, but he could see its warm glow. Once morning came, he would have to leave the group. He did not trust these strangers enough to be unable to defend himself around them. It was only one more night. Once dawn came, and then night descended once more, he would he helpless, unable to move barely at all and his thoughts sluggish. It was always this way on the New Moon night, when he was at his weakest. He shook himself and gazed around at the others. We should all get some rest. It is very late. he suggested, padding back to his spot near Yssala and curling up against the back wall.
