Random house has decided to go back on there original idea of turning the Inheritance trilogy into a series and as opted to return to the originally trilogy. Due to the economic times and the failure of the movie franchise they believe that a fourth book would not be of monetary value for the establish franchise.

NEW YORK CITY (AP) Stunning news in the literary world this week, as Random House announces that the last book in the popular Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini has been "posponed indefinitely". The fourth and final book in the epic fantasy series, the as yet "untitled" work was set to tie up the adventure entertainingly presented in the previous volumes; Eragon (2003), Eldest (2005), and Brisingr (2008). The Inheritance Cycle was one of the most popular young adult's series in the last decade, selling over twenty million copies worldwide. It spawned a live action movie, the eponymous Eragon (2006), several video games, and a multitude of merchandise from action figures to replicas of the magical swords used by the various characters.

Random House was contacted for comment, but declined to elaborate on the specifics, only saying that a major announcement would be coming later this week, elaborating on this decision.

Mr Paolini could not be reached for comment.



I think it's more likely that they're going to delay it for a bit.. there also could be financial trouble with the company itself.. we don't know anything yet.
