How come in Eragon and Eldest they all asume that Saphira, Thorn, Glaedr, Shruikan, and the last egg are the last dragons all you have to do is look at maps of Alagaesia (paticually the far east) and you can see there are countless hiding places for dragons, i just don't get it.

i think when it sed that there were no more dragons left it just ment in alagasia but about the westen pasts it sed in the books @ the rise of the dragon riders that they aslo governed the fr western parts but galbatorix can't govern it nnemore cuz it is 2 much work 4 one dragon rider so maybe some dragons (&maybe the riders w/ them) could be in hiding there but i dont think that there are dragons in the western areas cuz the elves & human came from over there and it seemed they had never met a dragon b4 cuz the elves attacked & 1 not knowing that would start a huge war so it seems that if there were dragons over in the east parts that they would know that dragons rn't just stupid beasts but that they r intelagent bings like the elves

To find the dragons, thy must look beyond Alagaësia and over the devine blueness. I made that fairly easy to find out where the dragons truely are. Well to me. But then again, you people live no where near Alagaësia. Good luck trying to solve my riddle!

okay i have been rereading eragon and i found a paragraph about this subect in the coversation between Brom and Eragon when eragon asked him about the names and all that.

“And the dragons?” he asked. “What of them? Surely they weren’t all killed.”
Brom answered sorrowfully, “That is the greatest mystery in Alagaësia nowadays: How many dragons survived Galbatorix’s murderous slaughter? He spared those who agreed to serve him, but only the twisted dragons of the Forsworn would assist his madness. If any dragons aside from Shruikan are still alive, they have hidden themselves so the will never be found by the Empire.”

well I have to say surely answered the question. We know that Brom a Dragon Rider must have known of Gleadr. I believe that they are the five remaining Dragons and Saphira is the only Lady Dragon. Makes this a far more interesting adventure

there is more but in my opinion there will only be dragons in other lands when eragon arya the elves and saphira and the green dragon leave alagasia (pg81, Eragon)and only then.

Not all of them necessarily assume they are the only dragons. In one of the books they say that there might be other dargons, not in alagaesia. Angela's fortunetelling said that eragon would leave alagaesia forever. So maybe he goes and finds more dragons.
