Throne of the World
OOC: All characters good and evil, though I ask you not too many good characters since this will end in a free-for-all. As to whether or not this is cannon, I will leave that up to the Mods.
As time continues its march into the ether, memories are born and eventually fade away into the void. However, one has remained throughout the ages, defying the slow, yet gradual march of time. There was a legend that had begun in the beginning of time, one that told of a great power that revealed itself only once in every hundred thousand years. It is said that the person who claims this power will have dominance over all sentient life and over the very fabric of magic itself. It whispers into the minds of that who would dare hold it, telling them secrets that would have otherwise remained lost. Some talk about the legend from time to time, each telling becoming more different with it's passing, though throughout them all one thing has remained. Many have sought this power, though none have succeeded.
Today though, a pulse races through the air, touching the minds of all those who could be worthy of such a strength, for such a power can never be bound by the morality of the one who holds it.
Nilarek wished once again he could find a place to put up a base, somewhere to focus his power instead of roaming around. He had been through several lands, scouted several places, deciding whether or not it was defensible and if it had the right about of darkness. No place had ever been the same as the one he had before the gray dragon and silver dragoness destroyed his previous home. I will make them pay for that one day, when my strength is full again. He thought to himself, looking at caravan of travelers heading north to Alagaesia. They'll cheer me up. He thought to himself, walking towards the unsuspecting group.
When he was done and the last scream faded from the lips of the last innocent, Nilarek sat and watched the sun descend below the horizon. They didn't nearly last as long as he hoped, but he did feel better after. As he began to wonder what havoc he would wreak next, a strange sensation came over him. It sent a chill down his spine, gave him goosebumps over his entire body, and sent sensations of both absolute fear and ecstasy through him at the same time, and a voice whispered in his mind. Not that of his master, but something new, something far older and far more vast. Strong. Powerful. Find. Lost in time. Find me. I am yours. Find me. As the presence left his mind, he was left with a sudden urgency and a sense of purpose. He had never felt anything so powerful, The Shadow he was spawned from seemed like the speck of an ant on top of the world. He had to have this power, none other was worthy of it. Everything, even Keralin, was wiped from his mind with the need to find... Whatever it was that called him. It was his. Nilarek had but to open his mind to feel the direction from where this power was coming, and immediately he set out for it. Nothing would stop him.

Re: Throne of the World
OOC: Absolutely, for all characters good and evil as said in my first post.
EDIT: I should also probably mention that the message that Nilarek received is one that all the characters will receive if they join.

Re: Throne of the World
It was sunset, Arthur's favorite time of the day. He stopped and watched the sun descend, feeling the darkness of night envelop him. He always was more of a night person. Being in a cave for over 300 years seems to do that do a guy.
Arthur had gotten really lucky with the body he snatched this time. He was likely no older than 25, he stood six feet tall, had a sword, and he also happened to be carrying a necklace that hold a large amount of energy, that seemed untouched for hundreds of years. Something told Arthur that the man he had possessed had no idea what power he held around his neck. Upon searching his mind, Arthur confirmed the suspicion.
He continued walking. He actually had no idea where in the world he was, or where he was heading, but something was pulling him there. He couldn't quite put his finger on why he was complying with such an urge, and he couldn't seem to stop himself. Some feeling was pulling Arthur to some unknown location. "If it's that strong, it's worth looking into..." He muttered to himself.
The being confined to his own mind screamed, Where are you taking me?! I don't have anything you could possibly want! Arthur silenced him by putting a thick wall between the two minds. He was clearly not in the mood to give into this man's pleas, especially since he was one of Arthur's greatest catches.
Someone...no...Something entered his mind. He shivered as strange feelings racked his body and goosebumps spread all over him. Then, a voice said, Strong. Powerful. Find. Lost in time. Find me. I am yours. Find me. The feeling left. Shaken, Arthur started to run to where the feeling came from. He would not be stopped. He had to get this power before anyone else did.
OOC: Is that good? This is my first post with Arthur, so I can edit it if you wish.

Re: Throne of the World
OOC: Thanks, I thought I would ask, I was not sure how experienced you wanted the RPGer to be.
IC: Leonitus stared at the large tracks smudged by blood. He sighed. This was the third time this week that a small contingent of men had been slaughtered by some sort of beast. Leonitus had left his men back with the others. All of them were competent men, men he could trust, but still someone had to hunt this "demon" as some had called it down. He sighed, the men who had been ambushed were good soldiers, well disciplined, and led by a smart magician who was well trained; however, judeing by the blood-stained and torn robes not even the magician had survived the attack. Leonitus knelt down and observed the track. Wolf. he thought to himself; however, he had never seen a wolf this size, even among the shrrg. This wolf was truly huge. It also seemed that it fought on two legs most of the time. The warrior sighed again and began to follow the tracks.
Lucas growled with pleasure. This was the sixth attack this month and he had yet to be found by the Varden. He had struck a powerful blow against those rebels, and had helped to slightly even the odds for the Empire, and make things a little harder for both of them. He smiled as he continued to lick the blood from his claws. It had been a night to remember. The men heard him coming and were ready, but he was just too fast and strong. He killed them all within a matter of minutes. He continued to think about this until he felt something inside of him. It called him, beckoned to him. He felt drawn toward it. He left his origional direction and turned toward the calling. he had to have that power...

Re: Throne of the World
Nilarek ran as fast as he could towards whatever it was that was calling him. It consumed every other thought until there was only the lust, the need for that power. He ran. At least until his searching brought him to a town, the feeling of power pulsing throughout the entirety of it. The walls around the town soared high and dug into the ground, thousands of stones placed upon one another without mortar, yet feeling stronger than any magical barrier. Nilarek reverently placed his hand on the wall, feeling the mere energy that flowed through it. It was as he looked down he noticed something strange, as if the ground beneath the wall had been disturbed recently. Almost as if... This town wasn't here before, something moved it. Nilarek looked beyond the walls, seeing spires of gold that emerged over the walls, the light reflecting off the walls and giving it to the town below. He was about to start looking for a way in before something else grabbed his attention. Something else was coming. No, someone else was coming. This power was his, no-one else's. He turned and drew his sword, Shadows dripping from it and staining the ground beneath him.

Re: Throne of the World
Arthur finally caught site of a town ahead of him. The walls were very high, but seemed to be haphazardly put together, looking as if the could be knocked over with a mere touch. But it seemed that in the wall, along with the rest of the city, thrummed with enough power to destroy the world and rebuild it again ten fold.
Arthur then noticed the ground around the town seemed torn up in some areas. At first he thought it might be from travelers, but then dismissed the suspicion because it was too torn up. An eerie thought that the town had moved there came to his mind. He thought it as the only explanation. Towns, however, don't just grow to legs and walk away, but in the case of this town, Arthur was willing to believe anything.
Arthur eyed the city with interest for a moment, until another figure came into his view. They stood there with a strange sword. It seemed to drip shadows. These shadows, or whatever they were, seemed to stain the ground with there presence. Arthur waved in a friendly manner, but kept his hand on the hilt of his sword. He did not want to fight this stranger, but if he had to, he would.
