Skills: Liam is an excellent musician, at least with his wooden flute. He uses his flute to communicate with Fin and Vix over long distances. Though they may be too far away to speak with their minds, their ears can pick up the notes of the flute from 3 miles away. Like most elves, Liam is also quite skilled with his sword and bow. He has extreme flexibility and dexterity from training almost constantly on the Rimgar.

Character Personality: Liam is a very determined person. He'll work towards his goals no matter what and he won't give up. The only way he'll give up on something is if there is a chance someone innocent might get hurt. He hates to see anyone innocent suffer for something someone else has set in motion. Liam is also a very private person. He keeps his thoughts to himself, unless asked directly. If someone asks him what he thinks, he'll tell them, even if it's not what they want to hear. He does not abide by the elven rules of courtesy, he prefers to be blunt and to the point. He doesn't see the point in bantering on about something instead of discussing it, then getting started on a solution. Because of his blunt ways, Liam doesn't really get along with most other elves. When he's not pursuing something with single-minded determination, Liam likes to sit beside bodies of water and play his flute for Fin and Vix. Other hobbies he has are training, traveling, and sparring. Since he is an elf, he tends to beat others when he spars with them, so he also appreciates the opportunity to teach people how to defend themselves against stronger opponents. With the start of the Varden's war on Galbatorix upon Alagaesia, Liam has started traveling to small farming villages inside the Empire and Surda to teach the men how to protect themselves, on the condition that they don't join the Empire of their own free will.

Character History: Liam led a relatively quiet life in Ellesmera. He learned how to play the flute from his mother, while his father taught him how to fight. He spent most of his free time learning about the evil Galbatorix had caused in Alagaesia, and before he was 35 he decided to spend his life fighting against the evil king. A few years before his father finished teaching him everything he knew about fighting him, Liam took a trip to Osilon. While there he was wandering through the forest alone and stumbled upon a large, hollowed out tree. When he started to climb the tree, small dragon-like creatures flew out of the holes in the trunk and started to fly around him. Startled, he fell out of the tree, but the creatures grabbed his clothing in their talons and safely lowered him to the ground. Curious to learn about these creatures that had never before been seen in the great forest, he tentatively reached out to them with his mind. To his astonishment, they were not hatchlings, but fully grown magical beings. To complete his shocked state, the queen of the creatures presented Liam with five of her eggs. Two of them he was to keep, the other three he would present to people he thought worthy of such a precious gift.
Humbled by the tiny queen's gift, Liam sent word to his father that he would not be returning and left the forest that day to find people deserving of the eggs. A few days after he left the forest, the two eggs the queen had set aside for him hatched. One was a small golden female and the other was a black male. As they grew it became apparent that they, like their brethren, would not be very big, but the black male was a bit larger than the female. Liam named the golden female Vix and the black male Fin.
As of now, Liam still has not found anyone worthy of one of the three dragonnette eggs he carries with him.

Weapons: Liam has a plain bow of elvish make and strength. The only decoration on the bow is a single rune from the Liduen Kvaedhi, "accuracy". His sword is also plain, but of elvish make. The blade is thin and double edged. The guard and hilt are made of gold and form a cross, with the sides of the cross angling slightly towards the blade to catch his opponents swords. The grip is wrapped in black leather and the pommel holds a small diamond to store energy. The sheath is slung on his right hip (he's a left-handed fighter) and is made of black leather. Liam carries a similar dagger in his left boot, but the pommel is a steel ball that he uses to knock people out.

Animal Companions:
Fin (3yrs)- Fin is a small black dragonnette. Male dragonnettes, like male dragons, are thicker in the neck and chest than females. Fin's scales are a shiny obsidian black, as are his eyes. His talons, teeth, and the spines on his body are all white. He is 1.75 feet long and his wingspan is 3 ft.Fin can breathe fire that is almost as hot as a dragon's and he also has some control over the Earth. (Most dragonnette's can control at least one of the elements.) This is part of the wild magic that all dragonnette's can use. Basically he can cause earthquakes and open rifts in the earth, but it tires him out dangerously to do so. The most he prefers to do is make the ground soft and muddy to slow down his enemies.

Vix (3yrs)- Vix, the fairer of the pair, is a beautiful shade of gold. Her scales are the color of the sun. Her eyes are the same color of her scales and are always glittering with happiness. Vix is 1.5 ft long and her wingspan is 2.75 ft. While Fin tends to be surly and aggressive, Vix is the opposite. She's always happy. Vix is also the thinker to her brother's fighter. Vix can also breathe fire, but she also has control of the Light element. She has the ability to refract sunlight into her enemies faces, or stop the light from reaching their eyes at all. She also has a small gift in healing (it's a bonus to her controlling the Light element). Her powers do not tire her out like Fin's do, so when he uses up all of his energy, she spends her time taking care of him.
Both dragonnette's have the ability to go invisible for small amounts of time.

Ranor- Ranor is Liam's warhorse. He's 17.5 hands high and is dappled grey in coloring. Most of his body is dark grey with lighter grey and silvery dapples, but his mane and tail are black as night. Unlike most elven horses, he allows Liam to put a saddle and bridle on him, but only because it helps Liam to blend in inside cities and towns. His saddle bags were cleverly built and enchanted by the elves of Ellesmera. They have numerous pockets and can hold an unlimited supply of objects, as long as whatever you're putting in them can fit through the opening.

Physical Description: Liam is tall, 6' 5" and very solidly built. He's lean like other elves, but his mucles on his arms and chest stand out much more than on others of his race. His hair is so black it seems to suck in the light and his eyes have that same affect. However, if you look closely, you can see a friendly light glowing in their black depths. Liam tends to wear dark clothing, the more sturdy they are the better. He does not wear anything frilly, he prefers to wear things he can fight and run in. He has a large pack on his back that is for Fin and Vix to sleep in when they are tired of flying. (It also contains the three eggs, which are about as big as his hand.)

Dreams: To find people worthy of the eggs and to see Galbatorix brought to justice.

Reasons for Dreams: Before the Riders were slaughtered, dragonnette's were common knowledge, but they used their magic to wipe everyone's memories of their race after the Fall. He feels that they should be able to move about freely and Galbatorix needs to be gone for that to happen.

Alignment/Side: Liam fights for the dragons, dragonnettes, and elves.

More on dragonnettes: They live as long as dragons, look like miniature dragons, and are as intelligent as dragons. However, they do not bond with people like dragons do. If one hatches around you, you can tempt it to stay with you by feeding it by hand, but if it doesn't like you, it will leave. They can communicate with their minds, but their telepathic range is around a mile at best. Their hearing is extremely powerful, that's how come Fin and Vix can hear Liam's flute from so far away. You can hold one's egg in your hand and still see your finger's around it. They stop growing when they're around 2 years old.
There are only five settlements of dragonnettes in Alagaesia. Each settlement is tiny, only 30-40 dragonnettes live in each one. A few families of dragonnettes live outside of the settlements, but they're as hard to find as the actual settlements. Each settlement has it's own queen. Dragonnette's mate every few years, but the females only lay around 2-5 eggs. The eggs themselves range in color from beige to brown, but the babies inside can be a number of different colors and shades. (Except for white.)

New species wha???? I don't know if I'm supposed to add this or not, but the inspiration for the dragonnettes came from the Dragonriders of Pern series and the Dragon Keeper books by Domita K. Paul. (I think that's what they're called.)
