Mahari the mad(Jia)
"Without a family, man, alone in the world, trembles with the cold" --Andre Maurois, French novelist, 1885-1967
OCC: This topic is just for me and Jia right now
ICC: Nathen once said he would give everything to help a close friend. He, just never expected one day he actually would lose everything. In helping Jia in her venture across the sea he not only lost Elsa, who in his darkest hour abandoned him. But his mother, and bride to be. Both ripped from his life violently by death leaving Nate nothing but a empty husk of who he once was. With nothing left in the world of men. Nathen took the form of a poison drake and turned his back on humanity and the troubles of the world, forever.
Deep in the forgotten parts of the elven forest he dwelled now. Brooding, and meditating. Trying to find a peace that all of us look for.... and most never find. But even in his solitude Nathens presence did not go unoticed. He was a outlander to the other feral dragons. Queer not only in appearance with his black scales and bony like quils running in a neat line from the base of his kneck to the tip of the tail.
But in habit. The way he carried himself and dabbled with old scrolls, books, and tombs in his cave set up in ways a human would set up a house. It was in this cave he was now. A cave thats entrance stood under the mangled roots of a ancient tree that probably was the oldest in all the wood. Nate sat on his haunches. A open book floating on its own accord before his snout. Among his solitude Nate also saught mastery of the mysterious force called magic, and its use without words that was proving hard. Simple levitation was all he could manage for the moment.
The book closed and floated over to rejoin a stack in the corner. The black drake lifted a claw and moved it to guide another that now took its place floating before his eyes. "I wil bring you back my love" Nate mumbled out of habit now formed from the hermit life he lived. With no one else to talk to accept himself. No one had ever braught the dead back to life. Nate saught a way. To take back, that, that was taken from him.
Nate closed his eyes and sighed after a moment of reading the old runes on the pages of the book. "I sense something" He spoke to himself. "An aurora I have not sensed since....."

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia's heart ached. She had promised a friend she would help him. She had failed. Now, with the help of her daughter, she was searching for him desperately to try and make amends. To grovel at his feet for forgiveness if necessary. She looked the skies over in vain for his dragon, Elsa, but found no sign of her. She was searching for the Seal that she had given Nathen. As she had created it, she should be able to find. She jerked to a stop when Sarai spoke up. Mother, I think I found something. Let me check it out, and only come down once I confirm that its him. Jia itched to tell her daughter otherwise, but Sarai knew best in these sort of situations.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai sniffed uncertainly at the edge of the tree, feeling inside of it to the cave that was hidden within the tangled roots. She pushed herself inside until she staggered onto the floor, tripping over a stray root as she did so, which sent her forward onto her nose. She growled in annoyance but didn't let it take her attention, not even the throbbing of her snout. Your a very hard one to track down, you know that? she snapped, shaking herself in the small space. She knew it was him from her mother's memories of him in dragon form. She decided to keep her mother a secret for now, unless he had somehow already sensed her, which was entirely possible. I'm Sarai, daughter of Johdzsia Goldenscales. She's been searching high and low for you, all over Alagaësia, even venturing into the deepest parts of the Empire, worried sick that your dead or worse. she growled. She sat on her haunches, sending a confirming flick of her mind to Jia, but a cautioning thought that warned her to stay back a bit.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Nate did not open his eyes. A lip curling a little in irritation. "Where I come from it is inpolite to enter anothers home without invitation. Even more so to talk down to them in there own home as if you own the place" The black male kept his eyes closed feeling all the magical energy in the area. Taking special note of the aurora around the female before him. "I know who you are daughter of Johdzsia" The male opened his eyes to look on her with the terquois blue orbs. "Your mother often spoke of you" Moving with grace he went up to Sarai and took a foreclaw in his own to peck it with the tip of his snout in a very human like manner to simulate kissing her hand. "But the tales fall short of your mothers claim to your buety
He released the gentle hold on her claw and put a paw to his chest and lowered his upper body a bit to the ground. "The one you seek died with his family. I am not he. But you may call me Mahari" The male was charming enough. And it was all genuine and real it would seem. Either that or he was a proffesional actor. The male gave a cackling laughter like the noise of a hyena that hinted to a damaged mind. "Mahari the mad the others call me. But I prefer the title of accentric" Standing back up right Nathen, or rather Mahari waved a foreclaw sending the still floating book back to join the others.
He motioned with his head back to the exit. "It has been charming my dear. But I am afraid I must beg your leave. I have much research to do and I fear I would lose myself if I lay eyes on your mother." He paused. "As in lose myself I mean choke the very life from her throat"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai's eyes widened, and she had to smile and duck her head with embarrassment at his compliment. Her head tilted at his introduction of himself, but she just shrugged. Very well, Mahari. But one can not change who they are simply by appearances. she said with a quiet snort. She'd tried that. She scowled at him at his remark of her mother. I could stop you. I'm more than I seem to be. she said, and her scowl deepened. That's a sorry thanks. She's been searching for you since the very moment she was free of obligations. She's outside right now, in fact, waiting for me to invite her in. She's terrified that she's too late. Trust me, I know. Kids know those kinds of things, especially when their mother talks about it nonstop when they can't stop fretting over it. She sent another flick of thought to her mother, inviting her inside. She closed her eyes and inhaled sharply when she felt Jia land and Change form.
- - - - - - - - - -
In her Reapric form Jia darted past the roots but paused just outside the cave entrance. Relief swept through her at the sight of Nathen, albeit in his draconic form, but at least he was alive. She instantly worried when she didn't see Elsa, but perhaps the poison-black-dragoness was out hunting. Tears filled her eyes and she shook her head,"Nathen...I can't tell you how much I'm sorry. I tried to come to you. I tried the very day we arrived back in Alagaësia. Apparently I didn't try hard enough." she choked. Her eyes were so blurred with tears that she didn't see her daughter move protectively in front of her.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Nathen listened to Sarai as he turned his kneck to bite at a itchy spot on his shoulder where a parasite took residence. With the stowaway plucked from under the scale Nate spoke. "I would expect you to stop me. That is why I would rather avoide the whole situation all together. You bring your mother in here you force my claw. Your mother and I are past words. Words cant bring the dead back to life" With the unexpected appearance of Jia Nathen growled deeply and turned his back to her and went over to sit on his haunches near a desk covered in scrolls. "Not yet anyway" He mumbled. "Not yet"
Jia's words fell on deaf ears. His back was to her as the male dabbled over scrolls on a table talking to himself in mostly none sensible giberish. Whatever he was dabbling over caused a spark of anger. Growling Nate stood on his hindlegs and threw the table over scattering everything and turned around. "Your presence offends me female!" He yelled in Jia's mind and continued to walk towards her on his hindlegs. His foreclaws tucked in close to his body. "Stop your crying you weak pethetic creature! What do you have to cry about! Grow a damn pair and stop your sniveling!" Nathen bit at a root hanging down from the ceiling of the cave in anger and resumed yelling. "I have nothing! Not my mother! Not my lover! Elsa severed our bond and fled the battlefield leaving me to bleed to death with a arrow in the throat! Yet I live for all that is worth and you dont see me crying like a child!
He pointed a foreclaw at Jia. "I will never forgive you. That is all you need to know. It is done and cant be changed. So stop your crying and move on." Had not Jia's daughter been between him and her Nathe would have choked the life from Jia with his own two claws. "I cant believe you coming into my cave as if tears and words would make mends
He went back to all fours. "Leave" It was not a question but a order. "Nathen is dead. I am Mahari the mad"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai didn't have to look behind her to know that her mother was crumpling into a shell with each word that Mahari uttered. Her anger grew, but she kept it carefully in check. When he finally felt silent, she peeled her lips back, baring her fangs, and snarled. It was such a loud and deep sound that one might expect it to come from a creature much bigger than herself. We have lost loved ones too, mind you. Ella, the Rider of Zeke, Jia's brother, is dead. Ebony, the companion of Ella's sister, Felecia, is dead. she said quietly. Her gaze hardened. You knew the risks of helping my mother, and you accepted them when you told her you would help. Seems to me like your the one complaining and being pathetic. And if I ever hear you speak to my mother like that in my presence again I will tear your throat out. Understood? she said sharply. You have no bounds to yell at her anyway. We watched loved ones fall in battle continuously for days on end. How many have died that are close to you, two? Remember that I fought as well. We watched a few dozen that we love or at least care for die. Your right. It can't be changed. At least, the past can't be changed. Change the future. My mother searched for you for weeks, night and day. I've had to remind her to eat and sleep, or she might have gone on without doing either. At least acknowledge that she still cares for you. she retorted.
- - - - - - - - - -
Jia's eyes closed, and she cringed with each word, like it was a physical blow being dealt onto her body. She barely heard her daughter defend her. Finally her eyes opened. They were still filled with tears, though none spilled over,"Kill me, then, if I can not atone for what I have done to you. I can not bare to remember betraying your trust. Or I shall kill myself, to try and make amends." she whispered. She knew the risk of being to close to him now. She didn't care. She had hurt him. It was what she deserved. So she walked past her daughter until she stood in front of Nathen and went down on her knees, bending forward to touch her forehead to the ground with her hands on either side of her head,"I am at your mercy." she murmured. Mother, no! cried Sarai, but a hiss from Jia kept her back. She didn't want her daughter to interfere.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari watched Sarai. His eyes betraying his thoughts on her interference into the affairs of her elders. "And so the pup bairs her teeth" He said to her in amusement. "So eager for conflict, eager for the taste of blood. A curse of youth and inexperience that you will lose with time. I commend your defence of your mother. But this is not your affair."
Mahari was about to turn around when Jia finally spoke. "Oh I would enjoy nothing more then to watch the life leave your eyes. But that wont bring anyone back" He took another step away and at the mention of suicide he grew more angry and turned back around. "Are you so frangile that you would take your own life just because you lost someones friendship! Leave your daughter to the world!" He snorted. "You would leave your mate hearbroken and alone?" Last time he spoke to Jia back when he use to have an enfatuation with her she had one. Things might have changed though.
What came next caught him off guard. Jia prostrate and helpless before him. It stirred something. But not so much pity. She evidently knew Mahari more then he knew himself. He hissed in pleasure and braught a claw down towards her but it stopped short and started to shake. He was fighting himself and the anger. The voices came then tormenting him in his mind. Closing his eyes a single tear snuck out and ran down the side of his face and dripped to the ground. Taking in a breath and sighing he opened his eyes. The windows to his soul showing his pride was hurt having been seen in a state of weakness.
He pulled his claw back in and with a shaky voice told Jia. "Nathen is dead, along with the hate he bore. You...." He struggled with the words. "Are....forgiven" Turning away finally Mahari looked left and right. All the scattered scrolls and the upturned table all right themselves by unseen magic. "It will take some time" Mahari added. "Before we have something that you and my old self use to have. Time.
With the cave back to normalcy he went over to a pitifully built nest that was his bed and lied down. "Now please. Just go. I dont want you to see me in this weak state" Mahari shook his head. As the voice of his dead lover came to haunt him. "You did it, the all consuming fire of hate extinguished. I always saw the good in you.... let me go" Though the voice was only in his mind Mahari spoke to himself. "I cant, your all I have. I will bring you back"
With Mahari talking to himself it was easy to see why they called him Mahari the mad. Jia was forgiven. It was probably wise to leave the poor wretched man to his misery. At least for now.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia stayed where she was, not even flinching when she heard him lift a paw to strike her down with one of his talons. She closed her eyes, waiting for Death. But it didn't come. She looked up, to see his claw shaking just above her body. She bowed her head as he spoke, squeezing her eyes shut. She stood, her head still bowed,"As you wish. Even of your forgiveness, you have only to call, and my every power is at your service." she murmured quietly, and then backed out of the cave. Sarai did not follow her. She trusted Nathen to not harm her daughter. Once outside she Changed to her draconic form and found a place to sleep.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai straightened, her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey eyes glittering dangerously. I will always defend my mother. Not my affair, and I'm a pheasant! she snapped. She tensed as he shifted to strike her mother, but something in the way he moved said he wouldn't actually hurt Jia. She hid a tiny smile when he forgave her, though frowned a bit when her mother pledged her service to him. She snorted at Nathen for pleading they leave. Technically I can't actually see your weakness. I was hatched completely blind. she said. She touched the Changing Seal that her mother had set on her and Changed to her human form. She appeared to be no older than her late teens, with enchanting black hair streaked through with bits of gold, just as her scales were. Her eyes were also the same and, just like in her true form, she was blind. That was by a bit of tampering by her, so that whatever form she was in, she was blind. She felt better that way. She sat on the edge of Nathen's nest, careful to not snag her midnight blue dress. She gently took his triangular head in her hands and held it in her lap, stroking his scales. It was no true skill from her mother or father, she was simply instinctively empathic. Have you ever met my father, Shruikan? she asked to distract him.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari watched as Jia left and sighed seeing her daughter did not. The last thing he wanted was sympathy. It made him feel weak. His old self was weak. To weak to save those he loved. But not now. When Sarai changed forms and sat in his nest to take his head in her lap he tolerated it like a housecat sometimes tolerated its owners attentions.
"Your such the sentimentilist, just like your mother" His mind said after brushing hers. "I have not had the honor of meeting the male" He replyed to her question while ignoring the voice of Esenya that now weakened to a wisper. "Probably for the best as I would have removed him of his pride like a stallion unfit for breeding"
A rumble echoed in his chest in thought back to his old life. "I'm hardly one to judge though. Men tend to think with the head between there legs then the one on there shoulders" Having grown tired of her touch mahari gently pulled away and crossed his foreclaws to rest his head on them. "Why are you here. Do you not fear me?" A soft hyena like laugh escaped his maw. "Most do" He changed tact now in a desperate attempt to get the solitude he prefered. "Your father and I are not so different you know. Sinners with a weakness for..... earthly pleasures.
Victory swelled in his chest. Yes, she would flee now and leave him alone to his thoughts and plans. He did not say he would do anything bad. But the hint was there.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai smiled. True I suppose, even if my mother has an advantage with her powers, I always seem to catch what others around me are feeling. Maybe its because of my powers. she said with a shrug. And that I suppose isn't a surprise. Few people have met my father and lived to tell of it. she had to smile at his words for Shruikan. She knew perfectly what he meant, but it still made her smile. A few human men tried to lure me to their tent, despite the obvious fragility of my human age. she said, and snorted. She barked a laugh. Oh that's rich. Me afraid of you? After I've seen pretty much my own personal hell? Right. Hilarious. she said, and crossed her arms over her chest. And how are you the same as Shruikan? He only raped my mother on orders from the king himself, something he could hardly ignore or disobey. Earthly pleasures my scales. You said your old life is dead. Fine. Nathen is dead. You are Mahari now. That means nothing of what you did as a soldier counts for what you are now, so just chuck that thought out the window of your mind before I kick it out for you. she growled. She could sense he wanted to be left alone. A deaf person could hear it in his tone.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari gave a nervouse laugh as he listened to Sarai "Hmm, must be losing my touch" He said to himself and not quietly at that. He clearly was a person that pretended to be bad more then he actually was. Her words hit a low blow though that actually caused his loins to ache. The knowledge that her father was ordered to commit a sin compared to him that did it of his own free will made him feel, well, like a pile of crap. In a way he was worse then her father.
There was a awkward silance before Mahari broke it with a amusing voice tone. "So, uh, yeah" He scratched at his chest with a paw. And then his kneck. "So I take it your not leaving. Your mothers kind heart is not the only thing you take after. Your as stubborn as a wild ass to boot. Fine then my dear. You may stay if it fancys you" He reajusted himself and let a hindleg hang out the nest. Going back to pleasentys he added. "Welcome to my lair of solitude. Forgive the mess, I have not had the chance to entertain female company. Nor ever expected to. There really is not that much to do here unless you enjoy reading. I have countless old tomes, scrolls, and books. From forgotten and forbidden history of forgotten and extinct races and civilizations. Some of ancient fables, myths, and legends. Others of complex spells I would not encourage anyone to dabble in unless there experienced. Feel free to read any and all"
He raised his quickly forgetting one though. "Accept one" He pointed with his nose to a book made of what seemed human skin on his desk next to a welcoming candle. "I have only one rule. Never, ever. ever.ever ever ever ever..... read that book. Dont touch it. Dont look at it. Dont even think about it. "
He closed his eyes and spoke aloud again to himself out of the hermit habit. "Oh by the gods I should not have even mentioned it. She is a woman. Of course she is going to touch the sodding thing. Woman never listen"
It was the borbidden fruit. The one thing she was not to touch. Rules as they say, were ment to be broken

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai smiled, her eyes twinkling. I finally got the point across, did I? she said, and her smile widened. She laughed, a warm sound, as he attempted to excuse the mess. She could have laughed again at his suggestion for her to read. Her smile turned into a full grin, and she slapped his shoulder,"I can't read, or did I not mention that I'm blind? Don't worry about your precious book. Though I'll tell you this; my powers are showing me something weird about it, and powerful." she said aloud, her voice like gentle music chimes. A shudder went down her spine,"I wouldn't want to touch it anyway." she muttered under her breath. Or think about it. What she felt from it was slightly cold, like a chill breeze against her bare skin.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sheer embarassment put Mahari to shame. "Oh silly me. My appologies. There is something here though I could teach you to read actually. A usless skill to me I had to learn. He got up and stepped off the nest to walk over to one of the many piles of manuscripts. As he looked for the object on mind he spoke to her. "It is good you sense it. It is... well, I will not utter the words here. But it once belonged to the most powerful necromancer in history from the ancient world, slain by a dragon rider when the order was at the height of power. Legends spoke the man mastered life and death" He went quiet. Even to the point of bringing those he loved back to life
"Ah, vic-tory" Mahari said aloud as he procured a book made of leather. Using the magic as before the book went on its own accord in the air towards Sarai. "I procured this lovely little thing from the ruins of an old monestary in the beor montains. It took many many a night and day to decypher the bumps on its pages. The author was a blind monk that invented a writing system for those who lost there sight. You just feel with your hands. I had hoped it contained knowledge... but it was not the knowledge I saught. But it is rather lovely poetry. Ah, music of words"
He went over to Sarai and lied down a hand length away. "Do be careful" he said with concern. "It is the only one of its kind. Sadly the writing system for the blind died with him. Only I know it" He paused. "And so will you should you wish me to teach you" Without even waiting for her to ask in his excitment in finally putting knowledge to use other then his personal quest for bringing his beloved back to life. He reached out with his mind and linked to hers. Transphering everything he knew of reading the bumps on the pages.
"Far more effective then conventional teaching methods at acadamys and schools no?" He said to Sarai. "If all men could learn things this fast and well the world would have more scholars He motioned with a paw. "Go on then" He said in excitment. "read and show me what you can do" So there was something that put life into Mahari the mad. Knowledge and the teaching of it.
Knowing Sarai could read would bring him joy he had not felt in a long time. He believed no one should be cursed with ignorance. Not when whole worlds could be discovered on the pages of books.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai waved a hand,"Think nothing of it. No one can truly tell that I'm blind anyway, unless I tell them." she said with a shrug. She was intrigued by his mention of a way of reading that a blind one could use. She could feel a rush of magic - it always felt cold to her, like a chill breeze - and guessed that he was levitating the book toward. She lifted her hands and winced when she found the book closer than she had expected, and striking her knuckles on the cover. She huffed, then gently grasped the book and held it to her. She ran her fingers down the page, feelings the strange bumps that covered its length. She looked up at Mahari,"Of course. History is to be preserved." she murmured. Her eyes widened when she heard his offer, and then the touch of his mind. The flood of information made her back arch subconsciously, but the knowledge she now carried was priceless. She smiled up at him, her eyes lit up, and then back down at the page. Supporting one side with a hand, she slowly ran her fingers across the width of the page at the top. It seemed that what she had opened up to was a short song or poem,"This is a poem or short song titled...Taking Darkness, I think." she said. She beamed at Mahari,"I'm reading. Mahari, I'm reading!" she exclaimed happily. She gently and carefully set the book aside, got to her feet, and ran to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and scratching underneath his scales,"Thank you. I had thought I would never know the pleasure of being taken to another place." she said, burying her face into the side of his neck.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari prummed when Sarai hugged him. He was happy he had helped her. But still out of instinct he flinched at her first touch. "Easy, dont choke me now. If you like I can try to rewrite other works on a blank velum for you to read" He said. "It is nice to know some knowledge wont die with me" Mahari looked to the cave entrance and saw that darkness had fallen outside. "I am afraid I must bed for the night. I have things I must do at first light." He had almost forgotten about his plans to attack and slaughter a Varden emisary sent on a political mission to the elves. The very one supposedly that ordered the execution of Esenya.
At least she went quick. Rather then a slow death in her hanging her kneck broke. After tommorow all he had to do was find out about the other Varden politcal figure that ordered the raid on his house. The one where his mother died by resisting arrest.
"Sarai" He said in a serious tone now. "I will be leaving tommorow and I dont want your mother to know ok? That and the book of the dead. Can you keep this secret?" Mahari feared Jia would destroy the necromancer spell book if she learned its existance. Something he could not allow. Not when he was so close to learning how to revive Esenya. The very thought of her braught the voice back along with the headache that followed.
Speaking to himself again and not really knowing it since he was mentally ill the male said. "I will never forgive them love. And I cant forget about you. I will make them pay. Bring you back and the army I will summon... Surda will burn" Blood dripped out of his nose now. A rythmic tap with each drop as it hit the cave floor. "It will burn and the fallen risen to join the ranks of my horde"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai laughed and released Mahari,"Sorry. And I would like that very much. I will make sure it never dies. I will teach everyone I can of this knowledge." she said. She nodded once at saying he had to bed down for the night. She yawned widely in agreement, her eyes suddenly heavy with sleep. She attempted to curtsy, though it was a bit clumsy because of her fatigue. She tilted her head at his request,"Sure. Mother frets over you too much already. Not knowing something that you do won't hurt her." she said, and shrugged. She squinted at him. Sometimes it was hard for one to tell that she was actually blind,"May I ask what your doing? You could ask for Mother's help without telling her what you are doing, precisely. She did offer her powers to you, however you might use them." she said. Her eyes drooped and she held her hand to her temple, trying to alleviate the sudden headache that hammered at her head. She was tired, and so the affects of her powers were stronger when she was drained, like now.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
"You are not well" The voice of Esenya echoed in his head. "The book, it has always been the book and the amulat. Let me go, move on. The flying fortress of Myria must not rise from the sea. Never must its shadow darken the land again." Mahari was snapping out of his stupor and looked down to the puddle of blood on the ground and rubbed his nose against his body. Only now hearing Sarai ask what it was he was to do.
"Nothing Sarai. Just tieing off loose ends. Go to sleep I will be there in a minute" Going over to the book made of human skin on the table he stared at it. A symbol of a eye suddenly opened and stared at him. Mahari reached out stopping short. Mahari pulled his claw away cautiously and the eye in the center of the book closed. A rumble of thought echoed in his chest and Mahari blew out the candle letting the darkness take the room. The darkness that was cold, yet welcoming. Tommorow Mahari the mads rise to power would begin.
And the land would be shadowed by a darkness not seen in a age.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai only nodded. She was too tired to walk outside and somehow find her mother, so she just walked to the nest and laid down just inside the edge. Her eyes closed, and she was deeply asleep in moments.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari woke with a jolt in the morning. Startled by a dream of him still in dragon form with black armor sitting on a thrown of bones. He looked to the book on the table and then down at Sarai. Getting up slowly to not disurb her he went over to the table and covered the book with a cloth. Where the cloth had been there was a amulat and knecklace covered in draconic chicken scratch he still yet had not translated. Putting the thing around his kneck he felt a surge of power. The intense fire of hate burning stronger then ever in his chest. Leaving the cave Mahari squinted as the morning sun temperarily blinded him until his eyes adjusted.
With a running start he flapped his wings and took to the sky. It was not long before he saw the Varden emisary and the elven security force. Mahari glided in and perched himself on a old stone pillar overgrown with vines. The convoy stopped and Mahari stared at the small figures below as they looked up to him. Gripping the amulat around his neck with a claw he looked to the old burial ground close by. On command those once dead rose from there resting place. "Kill them" Was all the command they needed. Even the bodies of the freshly killed rose to join the ranks of Mahari's minions and unlike the ancient skeletal corpses. Were just as fast as they were when living.
Relishing in the battle below Mahari growled when it ended and said aloud to himself. "All to easy, pethetic. Strange, victory brings a sour taste to my mouth He looked at the dead warriors below and waved a claw. "Begone with you." Reanimated skeletons fell apart and the fresh bodies to the ground where they stood. With no survivors he did not worry about the elves knowing it was him.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai stirred slightly when Mahari left, though didn't wake. She only curled into a tighter ball to keep warm. She did however feel when something shifted, far away, almost at the outer edges of her range. But it was sharp, and it was painful. She shot bolt upright, clutching her stomach and head as she felt the deaths of the twolegs, one after another. Even those that fell rose up to fight once more. Blissfully, it didn't last long. Once it was over she curled into a tight ball and sobbed. So much pain. What could do such a thing?

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari did not understand as he flew back. He should have felt better having killed the one that ordered the execution of his love Esenya. But he felt no different. Not better, or worse. Upon landing back on the ground with a few hopping jumps to slow him down Mahari furled and unfurled his wings as he walked back to the cave completing folding them to his body right before entering.
Something did not feel right though. Sarai" He asked as he neared the nest. "Are you alright" As he said those words he took the knecklace from around his neck and set it on the table. The power he had felt before gone with it. OCC: Sorry its short. Going to bed.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai barely heard him as Mahari returned. She looked up only after he called her name. Her eyes glistened with tears. Pain. Slaughter. she choked. A piece of my powers, unfortunately, let me feel the death of others, if they are within my range. she shook her head mutely, her gaze anguished. I had hoped I had felt the last of death when I left the war. Apparently I was wrong. she murmured. She closed her eyes. The battle wasn't so bad. Once a soldier went down they stayed down. But this that I just felt...Fallen and supposedly dead soldiers getting up once more to keep fighting.... she shuddered in horror.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari saw the wetness in Sarai's eyes and at that moment wondered if he had just came after she was done crying. Or if she was just trying to suppress it. Listening to her words he felt pangs of guilt. He would have rather just left and avoided the whole situation all together, but it had to be addressed.
Lying down across from her his mind brushed hers. "Death is a shadow that follows us all. Even when wars end and the voices of fallen comrades leave us, still, he is there waiting for us." He paused in disision before finally deciding it best to just tell the truth. Lies, he had learned. Were always uncovered. It would be easier to just address it now. His voice now sad with regret came again. "I had hoped to spare you the horrors. But alas, I did not know your reach extended so far. And for that, I apologise. But do understand this. Those men had to die. They took someone from me. And had they lived, others would suffer from the power there words held.
A growl rumbled in his chest. "No man should have power such as they. To speak but one word and end lives. Two wrongs do not make a right I admit. But between to evils I believe I chose the lesser. This he truly believed. "There are others I admit I have planned to kill. But doubt now. Todays actions have braught a sour taste to my mouth." Standing back up now he realized old man hunger was knawing at his belly. "As the male overlord of this small territory it is my duty not only to protect you. But provide. I will leave now to to mark my bounderys and hunt. Do you or your mother wish to accompany me?" The last question was out of civility. He was not really sure if he was ready to talk to Jia yet. Mostly though it would serve as a distraction for the pain he caused Sarai. Food always distracted him from his inner demons. That and study. He just hoped it would be the same for Sarai.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai closed her eyes as she listened to Mahari speak. She understood why, probably more than her mother would. But that did not lessen the stings of the deaths in her heart. She merely nodded at his offer. Mother will hunt on her own. She doesn't want to push her presence onto you before your ready. she replied quietly, and stood. Her head hurt from crying for so long and as hard as she had. She sniffed quietly and pushed the pain away, forcing a semi-bright attitude to take over. She Changed to her draconic form and shook herself, disgruntled at how small she was for once. She was about the height of an under-sized pony and roughly as long as a komodo dragon. She smoothed down the scales on her chest, motioning for Mahari to go ahead. She decided to get out what she wanted to say now, before her mother was close and within hearing distance. I understand your motives, perhaps more than mother would. If you fear that I would condemn you then let me say that no, I don't condemn you for killing those that have hurt you. Mahari, they hurt you. Or more specifically your old life. I would help if I can, even, but I wouldn't know how. she hesitated. But then again I must speak logically as well. You say those men had no right to end the life of someone you loved. Alright, fair enough. What gave you the right to end theirs? Monsters or no, unfair or no, revenge or no; they had families as well. You were ready to kill mother, but didn't because I was present. You would have killed her, had I not been there. How does that change it? Whether I was present or not if you killed her, she still would have been dead. That doesn't seem right that you would not kill her with me present, but ended the lives of the others when they perhaps had their own children elsewhere. she looked up at Mahari, frustration in her eyes. I'm just trying to understand, that's all. I don't hate you, nor am I trying to make you guilty, I just want to understand.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari wondered how Sarai hunted with her small petite looking body. He wondered if she depended on her mother for such things. Thinking back to her fighting in the war though she was no doubt more then she seemed. He listened to Sarai and his usual hyena like cackle escaped him. "Your pretty on the eyes my dear. Enough to stir the loins. But not that pretty as to sway my heart from my true love. It was not you who stayed my claw" Mahari held up his right forearm and closed his talons upon eachother. "Another female holds power on me" He closed his eyes. "I hear her from time to time wispering to me to let her go, move on. But it is a part of my former life I cant" He reopened his eyes.
"I do not expect you to understand. All you need to know is" He paused and spoke now with a deep sadness. "If I let them live, they will haunt me.... forever" He was done talking. And left his lair outside where he waited for Sarai.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai laughed. She knew she was pretty, in all her forms, sometimes more 'entrancing' as she was described by a few men back in the war. it was lucky her mother hadn't heard Mahari make that comment about her, else her mother might have removed his pride. Sorry or not, she knew Jia was very protective of her, given how Sarai had been conceived in the first place. The black-gold dragoness simply nodded her head in agreement, wishing she could ask for more information, but not wanting to push Mahari. No matter what she said to him of her not being afraid, she was, just a bit. She didn't know him, didn't know how he would react to what she said or did, and this made her wary of him, but not necessarily fearful. She nodded and followed him out of the cave. She stood completely still for a moment, tracking if there was any prey close by. Lucky, there was. Mahari, there's a middle-sized deer herd a bit to the east of us that we could hunt. Roughly fifteen head in all. I can take down two and you, perhaps, five? she asked, ruffling her wings eagerly. She enjoyed hunting with a partner; hunting with her mother was almost an annoyance, with Jia always worrying over her and trying to shield her from being scratched by a twig. Sometimes Sarai just wanted to scream at her mother to leave her alone and let her fend for herself, but she didn't because it would crush her mother and she had already endured enough pain in her life. The black-gold sighed at her thoughts and pushed them away. Regardless of that, she loved her mother dearly. She shook herself and focused back on Mahari. Where are we going first? she asked, her head perking up with eagerness.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
A look of horror crossed Maharis face as his jaw hanged open. "Dang girl" His mind brushed against hers as he always did as if afraid to make a full connection. "Do you or your mother really need that many? I was thinking more of three. One for each of us. This is my territory and I know it well along with the herds that graze here. Trust me when I say they are big enough to satisfy our appetites. Any more would just be, well, greedy. And I dont want to thin them out so in the future I will be forced to raid other males lands for food.
Mahari stood beside Sarai now and ruffled his wings in preperation for flight. "Lets play a little game then shall we" He said cheekily. "I'll race you to the herd and see who is the swiftest to not only take down one for themself but the other one for your mother. On the count of three. One...two..." Mahari playfully, but not to roughly pushed Sarai with his shoulder to put her off balance and took to the sky not even bothering to count off three giving him the headstart.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai was a bit startled but shrugged. No matter. I'll probably only eat half of mine anyway. she said. She tried not to smirk when he playfully shoved her over to give himself a head start. But she didn't even open her wings. When she flew she truly was blind, so she preferred to be on the ground. She took off at a fast sprint in the direction of the herd, working her legs and wings to the max to get full speed. She arrived at the herds location and paused just on the edges of the tree cover. She didn't hear any wing beats, though that meant little, nor did she feel any muted footsteps. She crept out, estimating where she could attack. Before the war her mother, and Kale as well, had taught her pressure points in the various races of Alagaësia, including prey, although not as extensively in that area. One well placed blow to the neck or chest and the deer she hunted would drop like a stone. But she paused, waiting for Mahari. She was in his territory, meaning he got the first choice in prey, whether he had challenged her to a race or not. Or at least that's how she saw it. She was more wild dragon than anything, and instinct told her this. A few racial memories as well, but not so much. She sat on her haunches and waited, the tip of her tail twitching back and forth like a cats.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari took off fast at first but slowed down without even looking back as to give Sarai a chance. She was blind after all. Scanning below with his keen eyesight Mahari spotted the heard. The sun was to his back and the advantage his. By the time they saw his shadow it would be to late. After the quick scan he ignored the Male buck of the heard and the doe's that were nursing fawns or had young nearby. His eyes were set on childless doe grazing near the heard bounderys.
Tucking in his wings Mahari dove and flared them out mere seconds before he hit the ground. His hindclaws pinning the surprised deer, keeping it motionless as he bit the back of its neck and twisted to deliver the killing blow. By now the heard was scattering.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai's ears pricked as she finally heard wingbeats. She waited until he landed with his kill, then sprang forward into the midst of the deer. She lashed out with her tail, landing well-placed blows on the neck and chest of two young males. They dropped like stones to the ground, bodies perfectly intact and no blood spilt. She looked up at Mahari. I prefer to eat my kill still warm, hence why I take pains to not pierce the flesh. she explained, for some dragons she had spoken to had asked why she killed the deer by hitting pressure points instead of snapping its spinal cord. It was cleaner in her opinion, and even a snapping of the spine sometimes didn't kill instantly, and she didn't like causing pain, even to an animal of prey. She set one deer aside and sat on her haunches beside another. Shall we eat here or return to the cave? she asked, tilting her head curiously.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari snorted in amusement after seeing Sarai come out of nowhere and down to males with little effort. He listened to her and just replyed simply. "Clever girl" . "Let us return, best not to keep your mother waiting." Acting out of curtousy he took one of the young males Sarai downed in his jaws. While still holding onto his kill with his talons Mahari took flight and headed back.
Landing near the den Mahari set Jia's deer off to the side and prepaired to start eating before a familiar scent caught his nose. Leaving the fresh kill where it was he smelled at the dirt near his den and sighed before returning to his meal to be. It was a local female that had been bothering him for favors lately. A friend of sorts. Mahari could not help her. But Jia and her daughter probably could.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai struggled with the deer carcass for a moment but managed to get it settled in a position on her back that it wouldn't slip from. She followed underneath and slightly behind Mahari back to his cave. She arrived as he began eating, though she had felt him inspecting something near the entrance to his den. What is it, Mahari? she asked curiously as she began carving her meal apart, a habit she had learned from her mother. Her eyes shifted up and then down. Who was now walking toward them in her draconic form. Mother will be here in five minutes. she relayed to Mahari absently while she ate.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari ate slowly. He was still getting use to eating raw meat. "Just Syril. A local female and the very one that nursed me back to health after I crash landed here with the arrow in my neck. She is the odd sort, but a good hearted person. She pretends for the most part to be human. Even married a human she grew up with at the colony of Osirus outside of this forest."
He sighed after swallowing a mouthful of meat. "Poor girl. Her man, Atakai, was in his majestys army and is missing in action after the slaughter at Elru. She keeps insisting Atakai is alive. But I have my doubts. If the man is he is a POW and the life expectancy of empre prisoners of war is not long in varden prison camps. Do you or your mother still have good relations with the Varden? When you get the chance could you inquire about him. The longer it takes the lower the mans survival drops"
Mahari expected Jia to jump quickly to the task if she had any power to help. After all, she was eager to earn back his trust. Helping Syril that saved his life would gain his trust with no question.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia padded up to her daughter and Nathen. She'd appeared just in time to hear the last few sentences. Yes, I do. Sarai has never met them, and I plan on keeping it that way until I know they won't try to influence her to use her powers before she is ready to. she said, and snorted gently at her daughter. She sat on her haunches. I will fly to a Varden outpost this evening to inquire after the man, though I don't know what good it will do, nor can I promise anything. Since I chose to help Irlais, Nasuada has been giving me the cold shoulder somewhat. She appears to think I have abandoned the Varden. she said with a tired sigh. She stood and shook her wings out, preparing for flight. You can come along I suppose, or this Syril could. she said. Sarai got to her paws, black-lined-with-gold scales bristling madly. I want to come too! she growled. Jia snarled furiously at her daughter. Absolutely not! Despite Nasuada's best intentions she will use you. Your powers are not ready, and you are not ready either. No buts, no arguing, or I'm taking you straight back to the cave in the Beor Mountains, where you will be grounded for a month. Do you understand me? she snapped. Sarai's eyes were filled with tears, but she nodded once and sat back down, looking at the ground beneath her forepaws. Jia sighed quietly, then turned back to Nathen. What is the name of the man so I can ask after him specifically? she asked.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari turned to the voice of the new arrival. His reply holding the tone of indifference. "Perfecting timing Jia" Replying to her political holdings with the Varden with amusement he added. "My arnt we the social butterfly. When I said for you not to do anything I wouldent do when last we spoke. I did not mean literally. I pray this does not cost us.
Watching the mother daughter drama Mahari could not help but be amused by the whole thing. The thought of Jia grounding Sarai seemed unlikely. Dragons, after all, were dragons, and not prone to be forced to do anything they did not want to do.
"Your mother is right Sarai" He spoke. "The varden are not that different then the empire in those regards. They will use you" His thoughts and voice dark now. "Use you until you are of no longer use. Then throw you away like a child would a broken toy. He paused. "I think it would be wise to heed the wisdom in your mothers words. You will stay here. It is safe and out of the way."
Turning back to Jia Mahari said. "We will journy together. It would be unwise to make Syril go with you. If the news we discover is bad. I can think up a lie to tel her. If it is good, the surprise will do her some good. The man we are inquiring about is Atakai Crowe. I met him once before he left for the empire. He is the good sort, as far as humans go. And the closest one you will find anywhere that holds kinship with the ancient paladin knights of old that served the dragon council before they disbanded. If only the man was born in a different time" Mahari spoke those last words in thought.
There was something that bothered him. It came to light now. "Syril is such a foolish female. To turn her back on her kind and live the life as a human. Hmph, to even give her heart and body to one and not even tell the man what she even is. No matter what happens I fear it will not end well" Mahari tryed to picture how the human would react if he ever discovered the woman he married and shares a bed with was only human in body, not blood. Some things magic could not change.
"When this evening comes. We will leave Jia" Mahari nosed as the remains of his kill and cracked open a bone to get at the protein rich marrow. Controversial conversations always sparked Mahari's intrest so he asked aloud for both Jia and her daughter to hear. "So what do you two think of Syril abandoning her kind to live among humans and take one as a mate? About her not even telling him? Me personaly. I think its wrong. But then again perhaps I'm just old fashioned.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia muttered under her breath. It won't. To many have died because of my negligence. Not again. she said firmly, then bent to her meal. She only glanced up at Mahari when he spoke of leaving. Very well. she said. At the name of the man she was inquiring after, her head shot up, her eyes wide. Atakai Crowe? Are you sure? but she didn't wait for an affirmative. She knew she had heard him perfectly. She swore angrily to herself. She didn't know where from she had ever heard that name before, but she knew she had. She shook away the thought and listened to Mahari. She sighed. One will do much for love. You should know that, Nathen. And I speak to you with your old name because I knew how far you would go for Ensenya. Mahari I don't know how far he would go. I just wish I could bring back my mother. Or even my grandmother. she said quietly. She nodded at his saying they would leave when evening came. She continued with her meal until he asked after Syril. I would say that she is very brave to have given up her race for one man that she loved. It is the utmost show of commitment, in my opinion. she said with a light shrug.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai bristled. I can take care of myself, thank you. Nasuada poses no terrors for me. she grumbled. As for Syril, I agree with Mother. She is brave and willing to sacrifice everything to be with him. she looked pointedly at Mahari. She didn't have to be a genius to figure out what he wanted to do. Whether she tells him or not is possibly to protect him from something. she said, and lifted an eyeridge.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Seeing that Jia had heard the name before Mahari assumed the worst. "I see... so the man is dead then. Most unfortunate, but not unforseen. Another life claimed by the rabid jaws of this harsh world. Another soul ripped from the teat of life." He paused and then quoted from one of his old texts. "War...lost lives....the flames that tear lovers apart"
Mahari at that moment took the time to lie on his belly and wait as Jia ate. He gave no reply right away about the love issue. But after a moment he spoke. "Love is blinding. The feelings those to share is a mockery. I would have expected you two to be angry. At having one of your own turn her back on your race for a human." He paused again before adding. "For one of the lesser races" He quoted what dragons often spoke of two legs. Lesser races.
"I have had the misfortune of meeting those that claimed mixed heritage with draconic blood in there veins. A mockery and perversion of nature. It stills confuses me how it is even possible. Atakai's death, as I assume from Jia's reactions. Was probably for the best. You dont need the blood of your race tainted and paluted by mine. The blood of all dragon kind is thin as it is."

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia growled once in annoyance but kept silent until Mahari had finished. I didn't say he was dead, did I? No, I merely recognized his name, that is all. I wish I could remember from where, though. she said, and scowled in frustration. And I'm not angry. If I was, then I would be a hypocrite for saying they shouldn't be together. Love is love, Nathen, it doesn't matter what form it comes in or what races are involved. Saying Syril and Atakai can't be together is like saying the same of elves and humans, though the differences aren't as noticeable in that case. she said. She snorted at his comment of those of mixed blood. I've told you about Felecia haven't I? She's Ella's older sister. She has the wings of a dragon, though both of her parents were fully elven. They were given to her magically, by some force that is still unknown to this day. They only enhance her beauty, and they remind her of her deceased companion when his Heart is not nearby. The sun is low in the sky, should we depart now so it is not completely dark out when we return? she asked, giving her daughter a warning glance before standing and spreading her wings a bit.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari found something amusing about what Jia said and let his lower jaw hang open to show it. He would not reply to the two about love. It was clear they would not find common ground.
"If you heard his name but dont remember where, he is probably dead Jia. He is a common soldier. If the man is not among the dead with other captured soldiers executed by the Varden. Atakai would be in one of the Varden prison camps" He shrugged. "Or the Varden death camp of Tanor. In wich case he would be dead by now. He paused to recollect what he knew of Tanor. He spoke now with a foreboding voice. "Tanor is a place of unspeakable human suffering. The evil of the Varden hidden away from prying eyes. Torture, intense interogation, disease, and medical experiments. Ravens circle always over Tanor. Tales are told of mass graves..... Jia, once a prisoner of war goes in. They never come out"
Mahari sighed. "If you think the man is still alive let us inquire about him then. Lead on" The black drake stood up and flared his wings a few times in preperation to leave.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia shuddered. Yes, she knew about the darker side of the Varden. Every person has faults, every group and every organization. The Varden was no exception. She pierced her daughter with a warning glare. The black-gold dragoness huffed and sat down angrily. Fine. But when you can't find him because of there being so many people about or because you don't know if someone is lying, don't come crying to me. she said heatedly. Jia sighed. Sarai did have a point. Her power of feeling those around her also let her feel the speed of a heartbeat, although if there were a lot of people around it's harder for her to distinguish one heartbeat from another, especially in close quarters. But being able to do this allowed Sarai to know when someone was lying, because there is a physical reaction to lying that, if listening carefully, she could pick up. Fine. Come. she said shortly. The gold-amethyst growled, spread her wings, and took off, her daughter on her heels and Mahari on her heels.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari questioned the wisdom of bringing Sarai. But it was already said and done with. Following suit of mother and daughter he followed. It was a peacefull flight until they passed over a small camp of slayers outside the wood. The camp of humans below only looked up but paid no heed and resumed what they were doing.
"The order of keepers" Mahari said as his mind brushed against Jia and Sarai's. "Or dragon slayers as most now call them. One of the most hated, yet misunderstood orginizations in the land. I read up on there enigmatic and mysterious old order in one of my scrolls once" Not even bothering to ask if the two wanted to hear he spoke with a wise voice.
"The order of Keepers. Mankinds bastion against the evils and dangers of a new land they set foot on after there great exodus from a homeland lost to history. Dragons, wild, and aggresive saw the race of men as little other then food and hostile invaders. The order of keepers rose to the call and faught back the dragon threat for the survival of there race. Dragons were a threat to the survival of mankind and so the slayer tenents created they swore to. To hunt down every dragon. And so were born the dragon slayers. Though they slay demons and monsters as well. Legends tell of a dark dragon god that could not die being inprisoned by the order of slayers long ago. In a hidden vault that they guard to this day. Hmmm" Mahari went silent in recollection.
"I remember something about Elder slayers having magical seals on the back of there hands. Keys to unlocking the vault of the dark god that would wipe out all life. The seal bearer dies, a lock on the vault is broken. With the locks broken darkness is unleashed" Mahari let out a cackling laugh. "Fanciful tales no doubt twisted with time and telling. But like all tales there must be a grain of truth. Protectors? Tyrants? Guardians that keep a forgotten evil inprisoned. There is truth, and then there is perception of it. I wonder then, what is the truth that started before the slayers sudden rise to power making them the most feared and powerful military orders in all alagasia?"
His last words trailed before he snapped out of revelry. "Oh, sorry. I like to recite things I know aloud. Are we near any Varden Jia?

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia listened to Mahari, interested despite herself. She remained quiet for a few moments after he had finished speaking and had asked her if they were near any Varden. She nodded slowly. Yes, we are, in fact. she looked back at him. If you want to stay out of the encampment, now is the time to say so. I have the information I need to inquire after Atakai. If he is nearby and alive, I will find where and we can be on our way there in roughly thirty minutes. If I can't find anything or he is dead, well then, we shall think up of something to tell Syril. she said, and then sighed.
Too much war, too many needless deaths, too much vengeance, too many broken hearts. I just want it over and done with. she murmured, more to herself than to her daughter or Mahari. She tilted her wings and headed slightly north. The camp came quickly due to their speed. She alighted outside the perimeter of tents, pausing to let the people get used to her presence. She folded her wings tightly and waited for Sarai to doe the same. Sweetling, stay on my flank and don't let them separate us, if you have to snarl or bite then do so. she murmured to her daughter. She padded forward briskly, and she was relieved to see that Sarai, for once, actually followed her advice and stayed close. Jia swallowed hard as she neared the center of the camp.
Few people came out to see what the disturbance was, and the few that did had viscious scowls on their faces, glowering at her as if she were a criminal. She cringed inwardly but didn't let it get out. Even when a few men made to lunge at her and strike her with the knife they brandished and Sarai snarled at them, making them back up trembling into the cover of the tents, she didn't let it touch her expression. She neared the center tent, nearly as big as Lady Nasuada's but not as grand. She hesitated at the entrance,"Enter," rasped a female voice. One that was familiar.
Jia's ears pricked, or they would have. Lady Nasuada! she gasped, pushing the entrance flap to the side with a sweep of her head. The lady was thin and gaunt in her attire, not unhealithy so, but the war had definitely taken its toll on her appearance. Lady, what has happened? she said. When the leader of the Varden lifted her eyes to meet Jia's, the gold-amethyst dragoness flinched back, surprised by the ferocity there. The black eyes of the Lady were cold as ice as they stared at her.
"You leaving happened, that's what." she said coldly,"We needed your support. You weren't there. Because a friend of a friend asked for your help. You are bonded to Kale, therefore tying you to him as Dragon and Rider. Your first responsibility, hence, is to the Varden!" she snapped.
Jia lowered her head and closed her eyes. Yes, she knew. She had failed everyone. She just couldn't win. Even in the Allatik War, she had failed. She raised her head again, her gaze as cold as Nasuada's. The Lady cringed but didn't try to move. I know. she said quietly. But I could not sit back and let my friends die. You would have done the same thing in my position.
As for why I'm here, and I know you are wondering, even if you do hate me, I am here for information on a man. I know he is in your custody in one of the prison camps, so don't lie to me and say you have never heard of him. she said. She lifted her gaze to Lady Nasuada's. His name is Atakai Crowe. Where is he, and is he alive?
OOC: Wow, that felt good to type.lol

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari faked the impression of indifference about staying out of the camp. "It does not matter. I suppose I will go with you" He actually really wanted to go. If only to see how the Varden equiped themselves these days. Following on the other unguarded flank of Jia giving the appearance that he and Sarai were Jia's personal guard. Mahari could not help but notice the scowls. "I see dragons have become less popular as of late. Or it is me. I should not have come here" He said with paranoia now regretting even coming.
Waiting outside as Jia moved the tent flap Mahari felt rage at seeing one of the Varden leaders inside. "Shame I do not have the amulat of power. Less I end the wretched lives of all who's hearts beat in this camp and add there empty husks to army. To late now. I better not do anything rash...." Mahari thought to himself. Though the feelings were there and open for Sarai to interpet, unfortunatly because of her powers, wether she liked it or not.
Pretending not to care and ignore Jia and the female Mahari looked over the camp where he was while secretly listening in.
A varden officer leaning on a makshift sand table showing the lands of alagasia and the rebels forces and empires forces positions looked up at Jia with irritation at disturbing the war meeting. "If it is an empire soldier you seek from our recent victory at Elru you will be disapointed. Those we did not execute were sent to Tanor. A couple of days ago the empires third shock army marched for it and the entire prison population was purged for fear of them rejoining the ranks of the empire war machine. The military officer of high rank looked at some ships on the sandtable before adding. "A few faught back and one escaped. According to the reports the man is unusually large and strong. He killed a dragon at Elru before his capture and was being kept in solitary confinement in the high security wing. The rest of went on at the prison is classified beyond your rank or station dragon so dont task. Just know that the man escaped and killed another dragon while doing so. I fear the giant of a man has rejoined the Empire ranks"
Ignoring Jia altogether now the military officer spoke directly to Nasuada. "Lady Nasuada our scouts along the coast report that the recent storm caused three medical ships to seperate from his majestys fleet. Floating hospitals full of the empires wounded. They are poorly defended and crippled, dead in the water without escourt. We must attack now before the opportunity passes. The HMS Hope, HMS Saint Valoran, and the HMS Vuex. I can have soldiers with batterys and balistae bombard the ships from the coast within hours.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai felt an irritation in the tip of her tail, and it twitched. She glanced at Mahari, confused by what she felt from his physical reactions in his body, but dismissed it as being nervous because of being surrounded by people. She took a step forward when her mother said nothing and remained still. Now hold on. I know you don't know who I am, so I'll clear that up right now. My name is Sarai Blackscales, daughter of Johdzsia Goldenscales. The man named Atakai Crowe has a wife. A wife that is worried sick for him and hopes every single day that he will walk in the door and return home. Thanks to the Varden, that might not happen, whether he has escaped or not. Now I ask you; will you be responsible for the anguish of the wife when she is told her husband is possibly dead, or at the very least missing? Because I will drag you to her home and make you be the one to tell her. she snarled at the man that had spoken to her mother. And if you ever speak to my mother like that again, I swear to any gods that exist I will tear your throat out and shred your body into tiny pieces for the birds to eat. I will not tolerate her being spoken down to, not after the hell we've been through, do you understand? she snapped angrily, her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey irises flashing dangerously. Her pupils narrowed. Beyond our station? she asked, raising one eyeridge. Please, don't make me laugh. Dragons were here in Alagaësia long before humans or even elves. And, no offense, but we can take you down whenever we want to, so I would suggest you play nice with the dragons, capeesh? she said lightly, smiling to reveal her teeth. She was much nastier than her mother when she wanted to be. She probably got that trait from her father. She felt Nasuada shift in her seat, but the leader of the Varden didn't speak. No matter, it wasn't the Lady that had angered her. How long ago did the man escape? If it was longer than a week ago then he is most likely with the Empire again and that is where we should head. her eyes narrowed. If you have any idea of where he might have gone, now would be a good time to share that information. she suggested evenly. She wanted to speak up about the attack on the ships, but kept her tongue, at least until she had the information she wanted.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The officer held up his hands as Sarai chewed him out. "More then a week ago the man got away. We dont know where he is" Mahari sighed and shook his head. The human turned dragon brushed Sarai's mind briefly. "Dragons can take out mankind whenever they want to? And you wonder why the dragon slayers are around. Choose your enemys wisely Sarai. No offence but I have examined this camp. We all would die before the alarm bell rang a fifth time. There are to many anti dragon defences. The race of men are but sleeping giants. Do not provoke them. Less dragon kind inherit the legacy of ghosts and take there place in the halls of history"
Mahari was feeling uneasy. They already were not welcome, and here Jia's daughter was poking a tiger through cage bars. He use to be human. He knew very well what might happen. "We have heard all we need to Jia. Muzzle your daughter before she gets us all killed." He spoke in words he hoped she would understand better. "This is there territory and we have overstayed our welcome. Sarai just threatened genocide on mankind in her words. They will feel threatened and in danger. We must leave." That is what Mahari took it as and knew the officer thought the same. Saying your kind could take out mankind whenever you wanted to generally was not wise.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai snorted once in gratitude, and her expression changed to a warm one. We thank you. You might have just eased the anguish of a very loyal woman. she said softly, prumming in her chest. She glanced back at Mahari. Somehow I knew you would speak up about that. I was not threatening them, just speaking bluntly. Were all the dragons in Alagaësia to band together and attack mankind, we would have little trouble winning. But we wouldn't. And I won't either, not unless one of them directly threatens me or a member of my family. she said, and then glanced at the officer. She dipped her head slightly toward him. I said such things because I know humans have little trust for us. Contrary, you fear dragonkind. It doesn't matter whether we are pledged to your cause or not, no? You fear even Saphira, who has bled for you. Hell, you fear Eragon, who despite appearances is still quite human, with the same fears, weaknesses, and emotions. Learn to trust what you fear. I'm no wise sage, true, but I know the feeling of having no one trust me. she dipped her head a bit more and then turned to leave.
- - - - - - - - - -
Jia snorted softly. Good luck with that. She's as stubborn and blunt as her father. But what she says is very true. She knows what it is like for no one to trust her, and she tires of it. Can you blame her for being short and blunt on the subject? And she did not threaten mankind specifically. In her mind, she was threatening the officer that snapped at me, and only him. She won't tolerate anyone speeking to her family like they are a lesser creature, and especially not me. she murmured. She dipped her head silently to Lady Nasuada and the officer, then turned and followed her daughter out of the tent.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The military officer lowered his hands and responded with a hint of confusion at the dragons such change of demeanor. "Uh, Your welcom sky queen. I am sorry if I offended you. A cultural misunderstanding I assure you. I simply meant rank was a issue of the release of information. I did not mean it as a insult to your worth. We hold your kind in high respect. I only wish I could help your more on the matter"
Upon hearing Sarai's response Mahari chuckled a bit. "Being blunt is not always the right course. Diplomacy, the art of battling with words is sometimes the wiser course. Well, at least you calmed down the situation. I thought for a moment we all were going to be killed. But for future reference dont tell a high ranking human officer you can take down there kind if you wanted to. Like us humans have a fight or flight instinct. When it comes to them as a whole the first tends to come into effect. Mahari paused in recollection of a saying about mankind. "They say mankind has no present, only a past filled with horror, and a future they can only dream of.
Watching the dragons leave the officer cleared his throat and addresed his leader again. "Now about those ships....."
As they left Mahari addresed Jia and her daughter. "Atakai is alive and well. He is a patriot so going after him would be pointless. He will not abandon the Empire. The man will contact Syril as soon as he is able. He use to write letters to her all the time before his capture. Now let us return to my home for a decent nights rest"
It was not long before the Slayer camp they passed earlier came into view. The soft glow of the multiple fires visible. Going down low suddenly Mahari landed on some rocky highground. The slayers saw him and the others. But like before paid no attention. Mahari was curious as to why they were here. Reaching out his mind he read the thoughts of some of the slayers. Dragon slayers were blessed with magic to protect there minds from dragon mental attacks so what Mahari gathered was vague at best.
It appeared the slayers were sent by the grand master of there order to protect a summoning circle in the ruins of a old dragon rider outpost near the elven forest. Something about a dragon that was sealed there centuries ago by a famous champion of the dragon slayer order. His curiosity was satisfied. Mahari had no intent to aid the slayers in there quest. He had no intrest in meddling in the affairs of the world.
Reching out to touch Jias mind Mahari said. "The slayer camp we passed earlier. Atakai is there.... Look for the largest of the men. Look for the giant of Osirus" Atakai was called that long before he joined the military. The name carried over, also no doubt to the dragon slayer order he now was a member of. Mahari chuckled in self amusement. "A dragon slayer that shares a bed with a dragon. The gods must have a sense of humor. A twisted fate....
Mahari spoke to Sarai now. She had to know where the man was. Especially if she decided to do anything rash. "Sarai. Since you cant see Atakai. Meditate and sense his aurora. It is a bright light. Brighter then the other slayers around him. Try to sense the beacon of light." The magic aurora around Atakai was strong. Like a beacon of light and hope in the darkness of blindness Sarai should be drawn to it.
The aurora around Atakai was that of a paladin. Honor, justice, all things good could be sensed in it. The aurora of a hero.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai merely snorted quietly at the officer and kept walking away. She stiffened at his mention of the ships and had to force herself to keep moving. She only glanced back at Mahari. Perhaps, but I never had any skill in what the humans call diplomacy. No dragon can truly grasp it, except for maybe my mother and my uncle. she said with a shrug. She shrugged again after he spoke. Alright. I don't condemn him for that. Galbatorix might be unstable, but the Empire itself is fine and sound. she said. She truly did hate flying. She tilted her wings and landed upon her mothers back, gripping the edge of her scales for balance. Jia banked a bit and landed a few yards from Mahari. The black-gold jumped down to the ground as Mahari spoke. I don't need to sense his aurora to know which one he is, Mahari. she said dryly, but she tried anyway. She closed her eyes - what good was having them open doing? - and concentrated. It took a few moments, but she had patience. The auroras were beautiful as they flowed into her mind. It was like opening her mind to the world, but only to humans. The brightness of one of them stunned her. She jerked her eyes open and shook her head. Alright, I have a location on him. Now what? she was subdued from the purity of the aurora she had felt from Atakai. He seemed to be the kind of man that would judge someone on their own merit, not on their told past or heritage. The kind of person she longed to meet.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari chuckled a bit at Sarai and said as his mind brushed against hers. "What now? Well that is up to you and your mother. My part in this journy is over. The man is alive and the troubles of the world do not concern me. I would recomend that you assume the human forms of slayers you have faught in the past and join them." Mahari paused as was his usual way before saying something he thought clever. "I think you two will find your meeting with them to be enlightening" Mahari spread his wings unexpectadly and took flight. "You can tell me all about it tommorow" Just like that he was gone. What he had planned was unkown.
But the veil of misunderstanding that covered all dragonkinds eyes was about to be ripped away. For Jia and Sarai at least. For these men were true slayers. Not the pretenders. Soldiers of his majestys army that dressed somewhat like them and self proclaimed themselves dragon slayers. The pretenders that were the reason for the dragon slayers infamy. Mahari had set Jia and Sarai up if they assumed the human forms of slayers they faught in the past. The appearance of pretenders would not be welcomed. Though not nessesarily reacted with the spilling of blood.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai snorted. She waved her tail in Mahari's general direction. Will do. she replied quietly. She touched her Changing Seal and turned into a young Elf girl in her early teens. In this form she wore black trousers and a gold colored tunic. She motioned for her mother to crouch down. When she had, Sarai stepped into the saddle and strapped her legs in loosely. Let's pretend we are a Dragon and Rider that has been sent from the Elven Capitol to know why these people are here, shall we? she said to Jia with a smile. She felt her mother laugh beneath her. My child, you are very cunning. But let's hope they did not see you and I. If they did perhaps we can say I met you, and the black-gold dragon went ahead to the Elven Capitol. said the gold-amethyst dragoness as she padded forward. Sarai's smile widened. I love you, Mother. she said, stroking the arched neck in front of her. Jia hummed in her chest. The black-gold looked up as they approached the camp. Both of them remained silent, waiting for someone to notice them and motion them forward. They did not want to simply barge in, especially if they were unwanted.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Atakai sat on the ground with his lower back leaned against the saddle of his armored draft horse. The only suitable one of its breed strong enough to carry him. The dragon slayers that looked more like knights all looked into the multiple fires inside there camp. It was deathly quite accept for the sounds of night insects and the fireflies dancing around them. One of the slayers spotted a strange shadowed siluate outside of the camp fires reach and called out. Within seconds all the armored slayers got to there feet weapons in hand. Atakai like the older veterans got to his feet. A shield in his left hand and a large greatsword in the other giving him a savage, net noble appearance.
"Stay your blades brothers" A weathered wise voice called out. From the back of the battle armored slayers ranks appeared a older gentlmen. He put a armor gloved hand to his chest and bowed slightly before the dragon and rider before standing back upright and removing the helm from his head. The mans hair was white as snow in the light of the campfires showing this human had seen many winters and was nearing the end of his days. The older slayer motioned with a hand and all the other slayers lowered there weapons to the point of showing they were not hostile. But ready to act if the need arise.
The older man came forward. 'I am Harac, marshal of the temple of keepers. We have been expecting a messenger from the lady of the wood. Forgive my brothers and sisters for drawing there blades. But these are troubling times. Especially since we recieved the letter of warning from the lady of the wood about the prison of the dark temptress being occupied by those seeking to free the elder dragon." The man unhooked a cylinder from the sword belt on his hip and removed a rolled up scroll. After unrolling it the leader showed it. "This is the wax sigil of the lady is it not? Then you know why we are here. Tell your queen we have arrived. Keep our presence secret less every dragon in the area come for us like a dark storm." The older man called out Atakai's name and the giant of a man came forward with shield and greatsword in hand. His face was not even visible from his helmet. Not even Atakai's eyes that watched through the horizontal slit of his helm.
"This young keeper will act as our guide. He grew up in these lands and knows the wood as well as any of your kind. So a guide will not be nessesary. We will cleanse the dark stain that taints your home. By blood and by fire if need be.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai listened to the elderly man respectfully, nodding when needing to. It made little sense to her, and she wasn't the real messenger anyway, but she decided to report to the Queen anyway. This was something that needed to be known, whether by the appropriate messenger or not. She tilted her head curiously at Atakai, studying his body build. He was a giant of a man, almost as strong as herself. Almost. It was limited by the weaknesses of his human body. She twisted her hand over her sternum in the elves greeting gesture, and smiled slightly at Atakai. She pondered giving a message to him, one of a personal nature. She decided it wouldn't hurt,"I am pleased to see another from the Great Forest. I know your name, Atakai Crowe. While you are here, perhaps you can find the time to visit Syril. She worries for you. If you can't see her yourself because of your duties, I would be happy to take a message to her. It would ease her heart to know your alive." she murmured. Jia hummed quietly as if in agreement. This way, Syril could find peace, and also stop pestering Mahari. Sarai's raven black hair gleamed in the light, enhancing the pale ivory of her face. One reason she had taken an elven form was to soften the Slayers to the obvious, that she was a beautiful woman. It was a low blow to make them trust her, but still. Sarai was one to use all of her available weapons when in the prospect of danger.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Atakai was taken aback a little by the elfs words. But honestly it really came as no surprise. His wife always kept strange company such as the long ears and dragons. Mostly dragons though as she talked of dragon lore and other things. She was an orphan like him when they were younger so he always suspected her of being raised by dragons. Though he never asked. Atakai instinctivly gripped the amulate around his neck with a armored glove somewhat resembling a dragon claw. "Will I ever see you again?" Her sweet voice, full of concern echoed in his mind out of memory when he departed to the heart of the empire to join his majestys army.
With a muffled voice tinted with regret Atakai spoke from behind his battle helm. "I had thought the couriers had delivered my letters by now...." He paused before adding with a tone of urgency. "Please, tell her I will come as soon as my quest has ended. But most of all tell her I am alive.. There was a great deal more he wanted to say. But with his brothers and sisters of the slayer order within earshot he decided not to speak. Worry came to mind. There quest was dire. He very well might never return. Atakai's strong sense of duty was all that kept him going. If he and the others of his order failed tommorow and the elder dragon was freed from her magical prison by the elven cult worshipers. Little hope remained for humanity. None of dragonkind could resist the song of the dark temptress. According to keeper, or rather dragon slayer knowledge. Dragons were a race born for one perpose. To wipe out all life. To purge and burn the land to ash. All it took was one of the many imprisoned elder dragons to be freed. According to there legends it had happened once before. When the ancients disapeared. The keepers, or as they were commonly called dragon slayers. Was a order dedicated foremost to prevent it from happening again.
The older man next to Atakai sensed his intrepedation. "Steel your heart Atakai. We will not fail. You shall yet see your woman again. In this life, or the next" The words did not help much. But it did enough for now as the worry filled lines on Atakai's face behind his helm disapeared. Without any more words he left to rejoin the ranks of the other slayers behind him. The older gentlemen nodded his head towards the elven lady and likewise returned to camp. The meeting had apparently ended. And Jia and Sarai never more the wiser to the enigma of these men. Mahari's claim to there enlightenment seemed false. Other then the fact from there meeting showing dragon slayers were not all that they appeared to be. Monsters hell bent on the dragon genocide.
OCC: I guess I will skip to the next day. Its late hear and I will go to bed soon
ICC:
Atakai blocked the blade of a elven cultist and bashed the long eared fiend with his shield sending the attacker to the ground where the armored knight impaled him with his greatsword where they lyed. Breathing heavily from the long battle that seemed to have started hours ago in the ruins of the dragon rider outpost overgrown by the forest. In the initial battle a cultist mage had caused a fire and now the section of the forest where the slayers and elven cultists faught was engulfed in flames casting everything blood red in its light. The slayers were not without casualtys. With elves being quicker and stronger more then half of there order there lay dead. But with each loss the slayers inched closer to victory. For the slayers had there own advantage. They were better armored and equiped.
A feral dragon was drawn to the battle from the rising smoke and instictivly faught the slayers. Atakai engaged it with four others until a killing blow was dealt leaving just Atakai standing alone before the cultist priestess. Or so the large man thought until the old slayer marshal came to stand next to his side with shield and sword in hand. "It is over"! The old man called to the priestess that stood upon a ancient summoning circle carved in stone. The priestess laughed. "Humans, your kind is a disease upon this world and we shall cleanse the taint of your race from it. The elder dragon will rise from the prison your ancestors locked her in. A shockwave of magic erupted from the elven cultist priestess's body sending both Atakai and his leader onto there backs. The spell was cast. The magic seals broken.
Materializing out of nowhere on the stone platform stood the dark temptress. The elder dragon. "Free...." A voice sweet and terrible all at once crept into the two human slayers minds as they got to there feet. "We have failed" Atakai wailed in dispair. The slayer marshal replyed sharply with grim determination. "No, it is not over. We sealed her once before. We can do it again. By blood and by fire. Blood willingly sacrificed
"Distract her child" Atakai inspired by the old slayers words replyed. "I'll do better then that. I will slay her" The older man hissed. "Dont be a fool. You cannot kill what cant be killed. You cannot stop what cant be stopped. She heals from power beyond our understanding. To cut off her head..... it would only grow back.
Atakai wanted to ask what the man intended to do but time did not permit. The black dragon that made most seem like hatchlings in size jumped off the huge platform onto the ground below. Atakai almost staggered as the ground shook. Kneeling quickly and bringing up his enchanted shield a stream of fire covered over him. When the fire died away Atakai stood up. His body smoking a bit but mostly unharmed. Banging the flat of his greatsword against the shield Atakai provoked the dragon. "At last two heroes finally meet under the star of destiny" It was not that impressive of words. But rather a quote from the slayer tenents.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai nodded respectfully,"I will deliver your message to her, if I must battle a thousand soldiers to reach her." she vowed. And she would. By god she would. She stroked Jia's neck as her mother dipped her head and turned. They walked out of the camp before taking flight. When the gold-amethyst landed outside Mahari's cave, there was someone already there. A female. It must be Syril. Sarai was more than pleased to relay Atakai's message. Syril was elated to find that her husband was alive and well, though Sarai refrained from mentioning that that just might change, and soon. Jia curled up and fell asleep outside the cave with Sarai leaning against her side.
Sarai woke with a jolt. Something was vibrating the ground. It was gentle, barely noticeable to someone without her sensitivity, but she felt it like an earthquake. Whatever was happening was far away but very powerful. She knew her mother was the faster flyer, so she lightly pounded her fist on Jia's shoulder. It took some convincing, but finally Sarai got her mother to agree to fly to wherever the vibrating was coming from. They left without telling Mahari, who the black-gold had said was tired anyway and probably wanted to sleep in.
The flight to the place was long and silent. That is, until they were close enough to hear what was going on, too. Then Jia flew with all her strength. What they saw amazed the both of them. A gigantic black dragoness. Truly gigantic. Sarai swallowed. Should we help them? she asked. Jia snorted angrily. Of course! Hold on! she cried to her daughter, who obeyed without question. Jia's wings folded and they dove together toward the dragoness. Sarai drew her fighting knives and tested them, although she was contemplating Changing to her Draconic form, regardless of whether the Slayers would see her. But she didn't. Even if she and Jia weren't truly Bonded, they were stronger together than on their own.
Sarai tightened the straps over her legs so she couldn't fall from the saddle. She reached her mind to Atakai's, whom she saw standing before the dragoness, looking pitifully small despite his build. We heard the commotion clear to the Capitol and came to investigate. Tell us what to do and we will help. she told Atakai calmly. Her mother barrel rolled to the side, obviously preparing to bellow her flames.OOC: Kk, that's fine.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The black dragon reached out her mind to Atakai. When it touched his though Atakai felt like someone slammed a pickaxe into his skull. "Foolish paladin. Do you not fear death when you see it? Your family, your people, all that you love shall be burned to ash" Full of fear but not showing it Atakai put the flat of his blade against the forehead of his helmet. Stealing his heart and spirit for the fight against this giant elder dragon he spoke aloud again to repeat more slayer tenents. "My shield shall defend the weak and helpless, My sword shall strike down the evil and wicked of heart. I am the hand and will of the creator born in flesh and blood"
Removing the flat of the blade from his forehead the giant of a man charged as he let out a very fearsome battle cry. As fearsome as a humans voice could be anyway. As he ran he heard the same voice from the night prior. Thinking in his mind and hoping the elven woman could hear it he thought. "Your magic is most welcome kind daughter of the wood. Steel your dragons mind and heart. The dark temptress will try to control it if the storys are true"
The giant of a dragon merely scoffed at the little human running at her. Like one would a ant in the blink of an eye she slammed a massive paw down seemingly crushing him. "Annoying insect" The elder dragon thought. A second later though she screamed in pain and pulled her paw up into the air towards her face. Clinging to it was Atakai with his sword inpaled in her paw. The lucky man evidently ducked in between her talons before it slammed down. Climibing onto the top of her paw Atakai pulled out his greatsword and did a leap of faith towards the dragons head with the intent of ramming his sword to the hilt in the flesh of her skull.
The giant dragon just stared with eyes wide with disbelief as the little human sailed through the air and slowly fell. Pulled by gravity. Atakai had missed his opponents head but slammed his blade into her throat all the way to the hilt. Hanging by one arm to his sword for dear life the man slide down as his weight pulled the greatsword down cutting a long deep line in the dragons throat.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai nodded to herself and raised her long-bladed fighting knives. Mother, rise up and then dive at her head. Get your Hell Fire Cannon ready. We'll need a fireball, big as you can manage, and as hot as you can tolerate. Do it now, while she's distracted by Atakai. she said. She felt Jia acknowledge her words, then the gold-amethyst beat her wings powerfully and rose into the air. She gained a good one hundred yards, then pulled in her wings and dove almost straight down. The black-gold brandished her knives and tightened the hold of her knees, just in case. Jia reared back her head and spat a six foot fireball that, instead of being white with withering heat, it was a scorching, writhing black. It splashed against the back of the dragoness's head, incinerating some scales away instantly. Sarai released her legs and jumped from the saddle. Just as she pushed herself from her mother's back she realized she couldn't see the dragoness with her eyes. She cursed herself for her stupidity, then reached for her Changing Seal. She didn't activate it, only tweaked it. Suddenly the world exploded open before her eyes. She blinked a few times, then focused. She would have to adjust as she went. She released a chilling war cry as she fell, her newly exposed narrowing in on her destination; the side of the throat, just beneath the black's left jaw. She pulled back her arm and threw one knife. It hurled blade over hilt twice before thudding into the thick hide of the black's neck.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
"Not Good!" Atakai said aloud as he continued to fall, the sword he still held onto cutting down the large dragons throat as he went. With any luck he would just ride down to the ground. If not he would fall and more then likely break his legs. The ancient wyrm did not even flinch at at the injurys Atakai inflicted on her. Surprisingly enough she seemed amused. For just as the damage was done her body was already at work repairing. The flesh wiggling and moving as her wounds healed. The blast of black fire to the back of her did not amuse the dark temptress. Roaring loudly she swung around her kneck to blow a stream of fire at the passing attacker.
"You dare attack the mother of our race!" Her mind said. As deep as the greatsword was in her throat the sudden swing of the dragons kneck sent Atakai, and the sword he still held onto flying. Like many humans Atakai let out a spine chilling scream as he went flying through the air and through the flames of the forest fire this climatic battle was taking place in. He was gone from sight. But not from the fight. Luckily a burning a tree was in his way. Its branches serving to slow the heavy battle armored slayers fall as embers exploded with each branch he hit.
Atakai landed on his side on the ash covered ground and felt a crack as a rib broke from the impact. Hurting but not done the large slayer slowly got back up and forced the pain in his chest out of mind. Ambling back to the clearing where the battle was Atakai lept through a wall of flame into the open with as much poise and grace as he could manage. Greatsword and shield in hand. "That all you got serpent!" He bellowed and banged his sword against the shield. The ancient dragon seemed to occupied with Sarai though to bother with him. A ear splitting high pitched screech escaped the giant dragons throat and Atakai felt as if someone slammed a pickaxe into his skull. The world became a blur. Everything distorted. Falling to his knees the man closed his eyes. Blood trickling from his nose. To late he realized what happened.
Atakai was not even a true slayer yet. True he had killed a dragon before. But without going through the slayer ritual with the orders mages and drinking the blood of a slain dragon he was still weak to dragon mental attacks. To fight dragons effectivly slayers needed to harness a dragons blood memory and the great magic it held. Getting back up Atakai looked dazed. The giant dragon seemingly disapeared along with Sarai and Jia. Leaving only him. Surrounded by fire in a distorted world with phatom enemys. Silluates of human figures as black as ink. And so Atakai did what he could. Defend himself. Though to everyone else it would look as if the slayer was fighting nothing but air.
Harac was on the platform standing on the stone seal with a injured slayer mage desperatly trying to reopen the prison that held the ancient dragon for centurys. "Hurry!" he urged the mage deep in chant. "They wont be able to hold her off much longer!"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai's lips peeled back to bare her teeth, but it was not a smile. The shriek that emitted from the evil dragoness was chilling, but it did not affect her. The scream from Atakai, however, sent fingers of ice down her spine. Her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey eyes lit with fury at the dragoness. You are not the mother of our race, you are a she-devil! You are the reason that our race is hated and feared! Go back to the hellish depths, where you belong! she snarled in retaliation. She grabbed another dagger and hurled it, this time aiming for the dragoness's eye. The weapon hit its mark with a sick squelching sound. Mother, we need a Seal! A powerful one! she cried. She reached out a hand and caught one of the dragoness's horns that curled back from her head. She pulled herself up so she was standing on the female's forehead and held on for dear life.
- - - - - - - - - -
Jia would have been biting at her lip were she in a twoleg form. She still didn't know how to cast Seals in her draconic form. Cursing her luck, she banked for the ground and landed. A light flashed and she stood in her Reapric form. She bit her lip once, hard. She needed to be in her true form. She hadn't practiced that Seal before, but she needed it, now. She closed her eyes, then opened them,"Reapric Seal: True Form!" she shouted. The Seal appeared at the hollow of her throat, pulsed three times, and then blasted bright light. When it cleared, Jia's skin was a pale white, appearing to be dry and cracked, her hair longer, all the way to the ground, and pure snow white. Her eyes though were scary. They were teal green with a halo of green-gold fire. Ka hadn't been kidding in saying it was like channeling a whole thunder storm, though,"Heaven Seal: Stairway!" she snarled. In front of her steps made up of coalesced air formed. She ran up them. She glanced to the side at the evil dragoness,"Hell Seal: Hell Fire Barrage!" she snapped, extending her palm toward the female. The Seal formed and began to fire a hail of fireballs into her side,"Heaven Seal: Silent Wind." she growled under her breath. Wind picked up from behind her and blew gently toward the dragoness. When it hit the female, Jia clenched her free right hand into a tight fist. The Silent Wind abruptly compressed, shattering scales and sending blood everywhere. She heard a crack! as it also broke a bone.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Atakai struck at shadow fiend after another only to have his blade go through them as if they were thin air. "Your not real!" He said aloud more to reasure himself then anything else. The ancient wyrm's hold over his mind was strong. But not strong enough. The distorted world he saw cleared and he returned to the present. The rider and dragon had held the dark temptress's attention and had been doing a poor job of it from the looks of it as the great black dragon wretched a blade from an eye that already began to heal itself.
Feeling the amulat around his kneck warm up the slayer knew from experience what it ment. The enchanted amulat in the shape of a heart was about to cast magic. Of what he did not know. The trinket always acted on its own accord at random. In a flash of light Atakai's greatsword blade became covered in blue flames. "I hope this hurts it" He thought and threw the blade with all his might. The heavy weapon span through the air and flew true right into the great dragons chest burying deep to the hilt.
The ancient dragon roared loudly as the blade pierced its chest cavity. The lines between its scales glowed brightly blue and in a burst of magic blue flames erupted out the dragons mouth and eye sockets. With no further display the great beast collapsed motionless to the ground. Caustiosly Atakai approached the body and nudged it with a boot. "Is it dead?" He asked quietly. "It cant be dead. The storys say she cant be killed." Without further question the large man grasped the hilt of the greatsword forged by the ore of a fallen star and pulled it free from the corpse with a few tugs.
Full of intrepidation the large slayer glanced to his mentor on the platform, back at the dragon, then back to his mentor. After seeing the slayer marshals face of question Atakai just shrugged. "I stopped her, heh, and all without the matriarchs help" he thought. "So much for that gedwey ignasia magic thing she gave me. Dragons and there forked tounges. They weave nothing but lies." The dragon prisoner deep under the slayer temple had told him before his journey he would die unless he used magic with the gift she gave him. He met the ancient dragoness while bringing her food for his chores one day. He did not know much about the dragon itself except the dark temptress he just slayed was her sister. The matriarch as the slayers came to call the dragon. Was alive for one perpose. And had been kept alive for centurys. Her knowledge that was as boundless as the sea. Such knowledge even there order was wise enough not to remove from the world.
At most, the dragon from the ancient world as a permenently honored guest. A guest bound with enchanted chains. "The matriarch will be pleased with this......" His thoughts trailed. 'Wait, where is the rider?" The last thing he remembered seeing of her was clinging to the dragon with dear life.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai's head was spinning from the rapid succession of events. It seemed like time had sped up. In only moments it seemed, she was on the ground, her lower torso and legs trapped under one of the dragoness's giant paws. She coughed raggedly and tried to pull herself forward, but she was thoroughly pinned. Abruptly her mother was beside her, back in her draconic form. The gold-amethyst lifted her head. Some help over here! My Rider is pinned! she called out. Sarai grimaced,"I'm fine, Mom." she mumbled, but Jia ignored her. The dragoness lowered her body and wedge herself underneath the paw and heaved, pushing it up a little bit. Sarai squirmed, but her calves and feet were still stuck.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Atakai scanned for a sign of the elven rider but could see none. After the dragon landed and called for help the slayer jogged over as best he could manage. With the battle high over and his pulse returning to normal Atakai was begining to feel the pain of the broken rip. Climbing over the dead serpants foreleg he saw what had befallen the elven buety. or rather what had fallen on her.
Setting down his shield and greatsword the man made an attempt to help lift the massive paw. He was strong, but hardly enough the to lift the paw on his own. Jia seemed to handle most of the heavy lifting. Atakai just lifted it an inch more. Enough for the trapped rider to pull free. "You ok master elf?" he asked

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai nodded to Atakai when he asked if she was alright. She waved aside the courtesy title,"Please, just call me by my name, Sarai." she said. Jia was beside her then, crooning anxiously as she nuzzled her in the stomach. The black-gold hatchling smiled warmly and rubbed the gold-amethyst's snout affectionately,"I'm okay, my love, I'm okay." she murmured. Atakai could hear her, but she didn't care. Her mother nudged her mind and spoke privately to her. Atakai is hurt. You are an elf and can use magic. Offer to heal him. she whispered. Sarai gave a mental acknowledgment, then looked up at Atakai, for he stood over her by at least two feet,"My partner-of-mind says you are hurt. Would you like me to heal you?" she asked.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Atakai was not surprised by the womans unorthodox behavior. He was once a heathen savage like her living in the wilds. Once upon a time...." I am afraid I cannot do that lady Sarai" He said empasizing on lady. "My honor dictates" Backing away now from the rider and dragon he watched with discomfort at the stragely strong display of effection. Clearing his throat the man knelt slowly and picked back up the shield and greatsword. Hearing the offer of help Atakai stood back up and turned around to look at the woman that was dwarfed in his size. "I appreciate the offer. But with all due respect I must pass. It is not you my lady. I just do not trust magic. No mortal should possess such awsome and terrifying power" Sheathing the greatsword at his hip the man reached up to remove his helmet revealing his face. It was rather funny really a section of the skin around his eyes was covered in soot from the backblast of dragon fire that passed through the armored slayers helmet eye slit.
"The day is won but at a great cost. Many of my brothers and sisters lie dead" The large man put the helmet under his armpit and scanned the battlefield. "The supreme marshal and I must tend to them and prepare there bodies for the journy home and burial in the great tomb. Thank you for the aid. Know that we are not enemys" He paused. "But we are not friends either." The darkened sky above thundered and rain started to fall down causing the raging fires to pop as they struggled to continue burning the wood. "Even the heavens weep" The man said softly as he closed his eyes and looked up to let the refreshing rain hit his face. Turning around after hearing footsteps Atakais looked to the marshal and slayer council mage as they approached. "Never before has one of the ancient high dragons of old been slain. Well done lad. Your name and deed shall be honored in the great library.
"I do not want everlasting glory or a statue in the hall of champions marshal" Atakai said sadly. "When people speak of today I want them to speak of those that fell" The marshal nodded in understanding and looked to the mage. The magic blessed human raised his hand to the sky and in a blast of magic sent a ball of red light into the sky where it exploded as a message to the main camp outside the wood that the expiditionary force and succeeded.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai nodded in understanding, smiling slightly. It wasn't the first time she had met someone that disliked magic. She watched him, her expression saddened. Yes. Winning the fight but losing the battle she was familiar with. More than she wanted to be. She sighed, looking around at the battlefield. She shuddered with horror at the destruction and death. Jia growled softly, making her jump, startled. My kind are too prideful for their own good. Many times it comes back to bite us in the tail, and this happens. Needless death. she said quietly. Sarai nodded in agreement, laying a hand on the gold-amethyst's headknob just above her eye,"No one is without their faults." she murmured to her mother. The black-gold looked up to Atakai, the mage, and the marshal,"I would like to help. And don't try and make the excuse that I'm too young, I'm almost seventeen, that is roughly adult age for humans." she said defiantly, her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey eyes sparkling.
- - - - - - - - - -
Jia looked at the marshal as well, though not to ask if she could help. What were the names of all of those that fell? I would like to do something for them. she said, shifting from paw to paw. She felt the wild magic stirring within her, the kind that usually only surfaced when she became enraged. It coiled and writhed within her, waiting patiently to be cast.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The slayer marshal patted the armor on Atakais right shoulder and pointed to the mage. "Help him to prepare the bodies until the others get here to move them" Watching Atakai, the soon to be full ranked slayer walk away with the council mage. The older man turned to address the dragon and rider.
"Kind of you. But unnessesary. Your part in this tale has come to its end. We care for our own in our way. To have our most hated..... yet highly respected enemy" The man put a armored hand to his chest and bowed slightly to the dragon before standing back up and continueing. "Interfere in our customs, would be an affront to our honor that would demand satisfaction" The marhsal looked over his shoulder at the mage and Atakai that were starting to pile the bodies side by side on the ground with there hands crosed against there chest. "Besides, our customs are forbidden to be seen by outsiders. Especially of the older race of dragons. For today my apprentice becomes a full fledged slayer. A ceromony I do not think you would wish to see"
The high ranking slayer then turned without further word indicating his words in the matter were final and none debatable. They would tend to there dead in the storm. The pride of the slayers were just as stubborn as there prey it seemed. But whenever the two decided to leave. Atakai would have a gift ready for them.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai grimaced but dipped her head in compliance. She turned and mounted the saddle and held on. Jia was looking at the marshal as he walked away, her head tilted. Finally the gold-amethyst backed away and lifted her wings, beating them powerfully. They lifted into the air and hovered. Where they had been just a few moments before, a small, flat slab of black obsidian stone rose from the ground noiselessly. Sarai looked down at her mother, astonished.
- - - - - - - - - -
Jia studied her handiwork, nodded in satisfaction, and turned to the marshal. It is up to you now whether you put their names on the stone. They died for a noble cause and deserve to be remembered. Even if you decide not to engrave their names, every elf, dragon, and human that passes by this spot will know that something happened. I apologize if this is offensive to your customs, but I want those that passed to be recognized. she said, snorting softly. She then quickly turned on her wingtip and flew to Mahari's cave. She landed outside and crouched to let Sarai dismount.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai walked into the cave, biting her lip. Once she was inside the cave she allowed herself to grimace with pain. A scale from the dragoness's paw had cut into her skin. Blood soaked her tunic on her left side. Abruptly Jia was beside her as she collapsed,"You told me you weren't hurt." growled her mother. The black-gold snorted but didn't reply. Luckily Jia had Changed to her Reapric form, and all she had to do was hover a hand over the would, even through the shirt,"Heaven Seal: Waise Hiell." she murmured. A white-gold Seal appeared above the wound, a single tendril of magic extending down and into the injury. In a few moments it was healed and Jia ended the Seal,"Now rest." she ordered her daughter. Sarai rolled her eyes but complied. She fell asleep quickly cradled in her mother's arms, as if she were a baby.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The slayer marshal heard her words but said nothing. He would think about it.
Later Mahari after many hours of meditation back at his den opened his eyes and looked to the book of the dead. The ancient evil book responded in a way as the eye on its cover snapped open. "Your hold over me is gone" Mahari spoke to it with his mind. Wether or not the thing understood Mahari did not care. "My woman is dead and there is nothing I can do about it. Killing one of those responsible did not ease my suffering. Your promises mean nothing. I am free" Standing back up from his many hours of reflection Mahari took the book in his mouth and tossed it into the flames of a fire burning in the center of the cave and in a loud bang the ancient tomb was gone. He looked to the flame. He had come to terms with his loss and intended to live on in his new life. He had become a scholar. And now intended to teach his knowledge by opening up a school of sorts where he lived to teach other dragons. Specifically hatchlings, after all, the minds of the young were open books that had not yet been written in.
Just then Jia and Sarai had come back. Watching the pair wordlessly he left to work on his makshift desk where he kept his potions and recepies. Wordlessly again he came up to Jia and held his foreclaws out. "I will care for your daugher. Rest, you can tell me all about it in the morning"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia looked up at Mahari, then back down at Sarai, twisting her mouth slightly in indecision. Making up her mind that, like her daughter, she needed sleep, she tenderly kissed Sarai's forehead, then stood. Carefully, so she didn't wake the black-gold haired girl, she laid her within his foreclaws. She kissed Sarai's forehead again, stroking her silk like hair, uncaring that Mahari was watching,"Sleep well, my angel." she murmured against the girl's skin, then turned. She paused and glanced back at Mahari,"Thank you." she said to him, then continued. She went to the nest and leaned against the outside of it, so Mahari would still have a place to rest once he decided to. She crossed her arms over her chest and closed her eyes. Within moments she was asleep.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari walked on his hindlegs with some normalcy as he had developed a talent for it and waited for Jia to settle down for the night. Laying Sarai down gently next to her Mahari then took the potion vial he had prepared a moment ago. Uncorking it he gently put a few drops on each of Sarai's closed eyelids and watched as the drops of liquid slid down into Sarai's tearduckts. This would help her sleep, and soundly at that. Putting the vial back on his desk Mahari then climbed over Jia and laid down next to her.
"Well this took almost no effort. My skill with the ladies is still strong it seems. Already we share a nest. Oh the scandal if this gets out. It will be on the minds of all the females in the local clan" He said to Jia with humor. After getting no reply he looked over and saw she was already asleep. Today had evidently been very trying.
Mahari was up and early the next day. Going outside to stretch and feel the sun he came across a familiar sight. A dragon wearing armor. Armor forged by human hands. Slaves no less. "I told you" Mahari said as his mind reached out to the dragons. " I have no intrest in joining his army and campain to capture human slaves. Tell your lord" The dragon padded around Mahari in a predatory fasion as a cat would its prey. "Your skills are desired Mahari the mad. Tales of your knowledge and skill with potion brewing is far and wide. The great dragon lord offers you one final time. A postion as his aid and scholar. To deny would insult. And things would happen you would not like"
Mahari let out his cackling hyena like laugh. "Lead me not into temptation, I can do that myself. Be gone lapdog" The circling dragon stopped for a moment. "My scout tells me you truly can. There are to females here. You bed two? Impressive. If you desire there safety you will accept the great ones offer"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai lifted her head and blinked sleepily. She heard voices outside the cave and rubbed her eyes. She looked to the side at her mother to make sure she was still resting. The black-gold haired girl slowly got up. She realized she was blind again and relaxed at this; she felt more comfortable being unable to see. She hid herself and listened. Anger swept through her as what sounded like a dragon threatened Mahari. A growl rumbled low in her chest. She touched her seal and Changed to her draconic form. She deliberately padded out and stood beside Mahari at his shoulder. Her black-gold scales bristled angrily and her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey eyes glittering. Sarai slowly peeled her lips back in a wolfish smile that was quite intimidating despite her size. I believe Mahari asked you to leave. You have no business in being here, and what Mahari does in the privacy of his home is none of your business, you scaleless lizard. she hissed quietly, her body still quivering. Her muscles were tensed and she was ready to spring if this dragon made even one wrong move. She knew how to kill and she wouldn't hesitate to to protect an extended member of her family.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
"Mind your place female and stay out of this." The armored drake raised a claw to backhand Sarai across the face. But in a loud smack Mahari caught him by the wrist. "I will not tolerate violence towards a lady. Do you hear me?" Mahari was awfully calm about it. But the tone in his voice betrayed his suppressed anger. The male grinned. "What lady, I see nothing but a harem pleasure toy" Mahari threw the males claw away and pointed away. "Leave"
"The great one will hear of this insult Mahari. Truly you are mad" With the final insult squeezed in the stranger left. Mahari sighed almost knowing what would happen next. "These are of matters that do not concern our kind Sarai. The Katari is mankinds problem. He is of across the sea. They come here regularly and harvest humans for labor and other things I do not know of. They bring great ships with black sails and depart with there human cargo back to some volcanic island. A god forsaken place bare of life. It has been going on for years, with each passing winter. There strength and numbers grow. Sadly the cycle will continue unless a hero among the race of men appears." That was unlikely. Mankind produced few heroes as the elves say.
"They will be leaving back to the motherland soon with there ships" It was then Mahari realized his mistake. Closing his eyes he let out a low hiss. "You intend to stop them dont you?" He paused. "Some word of advice. Dont" With that he attepted to change the subject. "So, what happened yesterday with Atakai? You seemed worn out when you came back?"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai stayed completely still, even when the male attempted to strike at her; she felt Mahari shift his weight and knew he would stop the blow. Her utter stillness was threatening in a way, like how a snake keeps still and then strikes with the speed of a lightning bolt. She only moved when Mahari spoke to her, lifting her head to look at him. Perhaps not me, but mother will. Don't tell her that this transpired. She's too sympathetic to the other races sometimes. She has to realize that she can't help everyone in this war...No matter how much she might want to. she said. She snorted quietly and nodded. Yes, you could say that. Here, it would be easier for me to show you. she said. She connected a piece of her mind to his and transferred to him all that had happened with Atakai and the rest of the slayers. Once she had finished she was a bit tired. Everything went....well, I suppose. It might have gone better but that would be asking for too much. she said.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari was pleased for once Sarai heeded his words. This was a change. And a good one in his oppinion. "Very wise" He said to Sarai. "Needlessly jumping into danger is something your mother does, alot. Her selfless kindness is her strength. But also her weakness. Better to turn a blind eye to this evil"
Letting Sarai show him what transpired Mahari held a look of amazement. "Was that, the dark temptress? One of the three fallen dragon gods of myth? And Atakai killed her? The elven seers legend came true then. I fear girl, that Atakai's name will join the others that our kind shall come to fear. So a human has finally joined the alite champion rank of the slayers. Mankind is not as weak as they seem. Perhaps those hundreds of poor souls have hope. But only if Atakai and his kin are aware of it." Mahari stopped in ponderment. "Atakai? I can hardly believe it. Hmmm" Perhaps" He paused again and added finally. "Perhaps we shall let fate take its course. Mankind has remained unaware of the the dragon invaders that have taken probably countless thousands of there kind over the many, many years. Silly human superstition keeps them from investigation abandoned villages. If the gods will it. The slayers will learn of them"
Before Maharis words held wisdom. Now, they were indiference. He had knowledge to help the captured slaves without getting involved and still refused to even give that up. "Come Sarai, lets hunt"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai had to fight the urge to roll her eyes at Mahari. She managed, but barely. She nodded wearily. Yes, I saw her with my own eyes. I tweaked my Changing Seal so I could see even though I'm blind. She was....terrifying. she said, and a delicate shudder of fear traversed down her spine to the tip of her tail. She only half listened to Mahari after that, until he called for her to hunt. She nodded again and got to her paws, not remembering having told her body to sit. As she padded by his shoulder, something bothered her. She didn't like being referred to as a 'harem pleasure toy', even by a dragon that was obviously misinformed. If Mahari had given her the chance she would have stripped that dragon of its pride in a heartbeat. She looked up at the male dragon. Does having me and Mother here truly affect you so much? she said, sending him a memory of the stranger saying those words.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari stopped walking after Sarai's question. "What?" He asked and blinked in confusion for a minute then a look of realization showed in his eyes. "Oh, you mean what that male said. Pay him no mind. There kind do not respect females. In there culture I have gathered females are used for breeding and nothing else. Harems are what they call females. Mostly because each warrior can choose up to 3 herams to have for himself. The fact you interuppted a conversation between to males was seen as an insult."
Mahari had to think of his words next. "I admit I use to have a crush on your mother. But it came to pass when I heard she had a mate. Now it is just mostly playful flirting. As for you... Meh" He scratched at the back of his neck with a foreclaw sending many parasites from there hiding place under his scales falling to the ground. He evidently needed a bath. "I think you can decide for yourself." he paused to add again. "Your presence is nice. Your a bit rough around the edges. But a diamond in the rough I think" He joked in his usual matter when trying to avoid a confrontation.
"But enough of this idle chatter" He said with annoyance now. "Are we going to hunt or not?"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai bristled angrily as he explained. If anything that made her almost angrier. She snorted softly at his admittance of having a crush on her mother for a while. Seroc is a kind father and very loving toward Mother. she said quietly. She sighed and looked up at Mahari. Mother thinks of you as a part of her own family, a second brother if you will. I think of you in the same way. she said, and shrugged lightly. She chuckled at his comments on her, and she smiled at his annoyance. Sure, sure. she said. She grinned mischievously, then tapped Mahari lightly on the shoulder. She bolted off at a flat run. Last one to the meadow is a rotten badger! she called back to him, and her melodious laugh rang out in the air.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari let Sarai take off. "Well that depressing" He mumbled and let his thoughts trail. "I was kind of hoping we could be more then friends. Curse my cowardice in not just saying so" With that He took off after her. OCC: Lets do a time skip. In the mood for a party? Drink? An handsome armor clad warriors?
It was night now and off in the distance he could see lights and the loud boistering noisy laughter of humans. He looked for Sarai and her mother. "It looks like Atakai is throwing a party at his farm on the boarders of the wood for his victory over the fallen dragon god." He chuckled. "Such a good host his wife is to walk among and entertain an entire company of dragon slayers being that, what she is. You to care to check it out and pay tribute to the noble hero." Mahari said noble hero with some tone of contempt. He knew the human was not a glory hound. But Atakai's natural goody two shoes mentality and behavior still annoyed him. Atakai could not help it though. It was who he was. Cmon you two. Before Atakai joined the military and was a farmer I heard his wheat beer was legendary throughout the region of the town of Osirus. It has been some time since I had golden goodness touch my lips. And Atakai's legendary home brewed beer at that, as if it was made by the bees dwelling in the flower fields of the gods..... and I think you would get along spledidly with the man Jia" Mahari said.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia looked up at Mahari, amusement glittering in her teal-green eyes. Her scales rustled dryly as she got to her paws and shook herself. Her daughter too got to her paws and stretched. Yes, it has been a while since I socialized with twolegs. Though, I think I'll pass on the wheat beer. the gold amethyst said, grimaced, and then grinned. Sarai chuckled and grinned, too. Well then, come on! chirped the young dragoness.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
As the human Mahari. A dragon convert and the other true blood dragons, all, in human form. Neared the party. A armored slayer with a scroll in one hand, the weapon hilt in the other at the gate of the property estate. He halted them and asked for names. Upon hearing them he only recognized one. 'Mahari, your name is on the list of guests made by the hostess. But the others are not. Do you bring them along as your guests?" The slayer asked. Mahari nodded and the slayer stood aside and motioned with a hand.
"Behave yourselfs" Mahari sent a message by mind. 'Remember that you are guests and nothing more. These slayers are the finest warriors mankind has to offer and there is a whole company of them. That drops our survival rate to almost one out of ten if you start a fight. But also watch and learn. To know your enemy is a gift. And I suspect our kind are ignorant of slayers. Such the fued has continued when there could be peace."
Mahari long suspected most dragons and slayers all faught for the common good but a cultural misunderstanding was all the stood between the two groups for peace. Today that veil of misunderstanding could be lifted. All Sarai and Jia had to do was listen and scout out the slayers. But with dragon pride. The outcome could be many. Slayers. Like any group. Was devided by political views and beliefs. On one side you had the neo revolutionarys. Like Atakai. That beliefed peace could be restored as long as neither dragon nor human commited a crime against the other. A live and let live policy. Where the slayers, as peacekeepers. Would punish those that broke the peace. Be they either human, or dragon. Then you had the old believers that saught only the complete genocide of dragonkind. They were few in the dragonslayer order and mostly of the older humans that were raised differently.
Upon enterying the party ground one could be assualted with the smell of strong fermented beer and the spices of cooking pig meat over the fire. A large group of armored slayers all gathered and there was Atakai seated upon a chair held up by the mass of his piers. All the while they called out loudly his name. "ATAKAI! ATAKAI!" After the moment of praise the large man was set back to the ground on his wooden chair and he stood up on wobbly drunk feet. "The praise does not go alone to me by brothers and sisters. But to the great dragon and rider that gave us aid in the cause both our people aspire for. PEACE!" For the most part except for the older slayers. THey all let out a shout of approval.
Atakai continued on with his drunken speach that was surprisly well considiering his state. But if one thing was true with drunk humans. They spoke from the heart there true oppinions.. "The dragon riders may have dropped the torch. But we, the alite of mans warriors have picked it up to continue there legacy as protectors. Demon, monster, or dragon. All we shall slay to protect the people of our great country!"
More cheers erupted for the most part. Atakai was handed a mug of his own potent beer that had before been fermenting in the basement before he left. "To my buetiful queen!" He raised the mug to his blond headed green eyed short wife just a few feet away. "She has been a most generous host and is proof our kind can coexist!" What that ment was up to interpretation. But more then likely Atakai had learned what she really was. And the new generation of slayers had accepted the dragon wife into the family. Clear enough in the cheers by the others. She had abandoned her kind and taken a human mate to live a human life. To the slayers. She was proof there kind could live in peace.
Atakai raised the mug again slowly and looked to the ground. "To the glorious dead. Remember brothers and sisters..... Remember the dead, but fight for the living" Atakai, along with the others took a drink from there mugs and then tilted them to spill a splash of beer onto the ground. A symbolic action. A drink for those that did not live.
In a rare moment of intamcy. The teary eyed giant of a warrior left the haybail he was standing on and left the large group of his fellow slayers to depart on the outskirts of the torchlights of the party. Surrounded by darkness. By this time Mahari of course was elswhere. No doubt drinking. What Sarai or Jia did was unknown to him.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai was intrigued by everything she heard. She'd never really got to spend a lot of time with any big group of twolegs, and so 'seeing' them all together was new to her. She avoided the alcohol - she'd learned to hate the stuff from Ka - but joined into all the other festivities. She heeded Mahari's advice carefully, knowing her temper well. If she even heard the words 'politics' or 'I believe' or 'dragons should', she simply walked away or she ignored them if she couldn't. She did not want to ruin this night with another fight. The evening blew by until she found herself at the back of a small crowd, with every single one of them cheering on Atakai. She smiled at him, though she wasn't sure if he saw her or not, though she thought not. Her heart warmed with his speech. He was right, too. Dragons and humans could coexist, they just had to learn to accept one another. No one wanted another Dragon War. After his speech he seemed to disappear, but Sarai was more preoccupied with a scuffle several yards away. It wasn't a full out brawl, yet, but it would be soon. Blood drained from Sarai's face when she realized one of the three involved was her mother. She reached out frantically for Mahari's mind, as she was unable herself to get to Jia at that exact moment. Mahari, you must get to mother now! I think one of the more drunk slavers tried to touch her! You know how she is about that. I can't get to her. We can't have a fight, not here and definitely not now! she cried desperately.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari was elswhere talking to Atakai who had sobered up a bit some couple of hours ago. "It is nice to see you again hermit. What brings you to my party?" Mahari just shrugged shis shoulders and braught up a hood that now shadowed his eyes. "Once and awhile I do enjoy the company of others. It is one of the many needs the human spirit needs.
Mahari turned to look off at another person at the party that had been shadowing Atakai since they first got there. The figure though disapeared into thin air though as a person crossed Mahari's line of sight. Mahari reached into his cloak and braught out a a metal object that looked like a pocket watch. Only when he opened it there was an amazing maze of wheels and gears on the inside. "I came to bring this back to you. A facinating object I must say. I managed to trace its orgins though. The wyvern lords of old use to receive such things when they came of age. Do you know who they are?" Mahari asked. Seeing Atakai's blank expression he spoke again. "I figured as much. It is one of the lost chaptors of alagasia's history. Few remember it. During the height of dragon rider power there existed a lesser kin of dragons. Wyverns. They were not as graceful, pretty, or intelligent as there dragon counterparts. But none the less dangerous. I do not know exactly the year, but a devestating plague broke out. The black death. Quick and deadly the disease spread across the land killing everything. The order of dragon riders believed the black death was spawned by the wyverns and went to extreme lengths to destroy them. The wyvern lords were a race of men that tamed them. The only ones to ever do so actually. It was said the tribe of humans could speak there language. The wyverns were a vital part of there society. As pets and mounts when they raged war against other primitive clans over territory and food. Needless to say the wyvern lords were at the height of there power. With the great purge going on they faught back against the riders, and lost. That is all I sadly know. If this item is all you have from your childhood I would dare say you are a wyvern lord. In blood at least. The last of the wyverns died centurys ago when the riders attacked there nesting grounds on the coastal cliffs." Before mahari could tell Atakai more they noticed the fighting.
Pushing through the crowd Atakai grabbed two of the fighting slayers and threw them to the ground with little effort. "What is the meaning of this!?" He yelled. "You dishonor yourselves with such shameful behavior! Not only yourselves! But our order! The very man who gave me this shield!" Atakai then pointed to the crest of the royal family on the shield of his that layed against a log near a burning fire. "Who started this!?" He demanded. Following the pointed fingers he saw a woman. Crossing his arms he waited for an explaination. A good one at that. "Care to explain yourself my lady?" He asked Jia.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia stood easily, arms crossed over her chest, fists lightly clenched, glowering at the two men behind Atakai,"Easy. Their drunk, they tried to touch me. I told them to back off, they didn't. So I became a little firmer. I've been violated before, I won't tolerate men touching me." she snapped. This was always a sore spot with her when she was in human or elf form. At the moment she was in elf form, like her daughter, playing the part of the female Rider's mother. She personally thought it funny, but this wasn't funny at all. She would not tolerate being touched at all, even if they were drunk off their feet.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai pushed her way through the crowd that was gathering, forcing her way to her mother's side. She stopped behind Jia, feeling the tension in the dragon-formed-elf female. She reached out and touched Jia's arm hesitantly. The gold-amethyst haired woman twisted her arm and lightly grasped her hand, squeezing gently to reassure her. Sarai bit her lip.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Atakai melted like butter after what she said. Jia practically had the noble hearted human in the palm of her hands. "I see." He said in a low voice. He had met woman like this one before and like them he decided she must be a man hater. Turning around to face the two young slayers. Atakai waved a hand of dismissal to the sober law keepers of the party behind them. "Take these two behind the barn." Addressing the two slayers he said. Your crimes are great. So shall be the punishment. Readdressing the slayers that took the two drunks by the arms he said. Summon the mage. And take the lady they offended with you. Beat and electricute them within a inch of there life or until this lady has seen enough punishment delt for forgiveness. Have the medicus ready to treat them."
Typical of slayers they faught hard, partyed hard, and when wrongs were done. Punished severely for the lack of disipline. Jia would be the two young mens judge and jury. The pain and suffering they would sustain would be great. Until they were on the brink of death or Jia said otherwise sooner then that.
Before they departed though Atakai's wife came beside him and shook her head. "I know you dont approve. But they have commited crimes. Without law we are nothing but animals" Putting his arms around the small of his wifes back Atakai looked to Jia. "Do not judge men by the acts of a few. We are all not that bad" One of the law keepers of the party cleared his throat to get Jia's attention and motioned with his head for her to follow them behind the barn where the two offenders would be punished until they were near death or Jia forgave them.
Atakai shook his head after a moment. "This is exactly why I should not have stopped drinking. Be a dear and get be a pint of beer my love" He said to his wife and obbediantly she she did so. But not before wispering in his ear causing the large man to blush. "Later, I promise you shall have my full attention. For now, I must entertain the men" She kissed him on the cheek and then departed. The smile on his face disapeared then to one of intrepidation. He was troubled by somehting that much was clear. Atakai had his doubts. Once he was quite energetic and vigorous about his baby making efforts. But after learning of his wifes heritage, not so much.
Atakai was plagued about the gruesome hideos appearance of the offspring they would have. He would drink heavily tonight to the point he would not hold true to the dutys he owed his wife and mate. As long as one more day was delayed.
Addressing Sarai after his wife braught him a beer and departed Atakai spoke. "I Remember you" Taking a long drink from the pint in his hand Atakai said again. This time aloud to the others. "We are honored by the very rider that aided me today slayers! Honor her!" All of a sudden everyone at the party let out loud yells. Human attempts at a growl. The slayer trademark of approval. Folk music started to sound as the party grew and a young handsome man came to Sarai and offered a arm. "Care to dance madame?" He asked.
OCC: I am curious. What would Sarai do if she happened to drink a few beers to many and woke up in the barn with a nameless human slayer in a compromissing postion?

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia's expression was hard and unmoving as Atakai spoke, and she nodded in agreement. She relaxed slightly once the two young slayers had been taken behind the barn. At Atakai's comment of not all men being bad, she had to smile,"I know. Their just difficult to trust, even now. I was raped when I was younger. That is how Sarai was born." she turned to the slayer that summoned her and followed them behind the barn. She felt absolutely no compassion for the two slayers as they were punished. The only reason she stopped the punishment at twenty-five lashes was because she knew how few people survived any more than thirty. So at twenty-five she waved a hand,"Enough. They have learned to not do this again, and I forgive them of their crime against me." she turned and walked away to let the medics take care of them. She watched with a slight smile as a young, reasonably handsome man asked her daughter to dance with him.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai looked after her mother with a slight bit of trepidation. She knew Jia wouldn't let the two slayers died from their wounds. She turned to Atakai and smiled smugly at his slightly red face when his wife whispered into his ear. She smiled even wider when he addressed her and announced to the others to honor her. Her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey irises sparkled at him as she did a small bow of gratitude at the waist,"I thank you for the honor, Atakai." she murmured. She looked up in surprise when a man came and asked her to dance. She smiled warmly and took his arm,"I would be delighted, kind sir." she said, and followed him out into the small group of dancing couples.
OOC: She would be mortified for a little while, but mostly she'd just shrug it off and move on. Sarai isn't one to hold grudges, even if she were to be violated. The one you would have to worry about is Jia. Atakai and whoever Sarai ended up sleeping with would see her when she's truly in a rage then. XD

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
As the two brothers punishment ended the eldest of them looked weakly over to the other. "The next time you decide to get in a fight brother. Your on your own" The older slayer said weakly. No good deed it seems goes unpunished. Though the older brother only got involved to save his sibling the shame of getting his butt kicked by a woman. Death would be his reward. For protecting his only family, the older brother with a rare blood disease would not survive the night. His bleeding would not stop.
Taking his leave of Sarai Atakai rejoined the mass of men at a large table and joined in the drinking games.
The young, handsome, nameless slayer with a claw scar across his face took Sarai into the mass of his comrades and woman from the local village of Osirus. Taking Sarai's hand in his right and placing the other hand on her waist he then danced, content to let her lead as they moved as if one being. The young man clearly had experience as he managed not to step on Sarai's toes. OCC: Ok then. This might prove entertaining. Lets see what happens if the nameless man "who might gain a name later". Offers Sarai some drinks.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Once Jia lost sight of her daughter she decided to check on the two punished slayers. She was not completely cold-hearted, after all, even if then did wrong her. She rounded the barn and was instantly alerted that something was not going smoothly. She approached the one she recognized as the mage and stopped him for a moment,"I still smell blood. Freshly spilt blood. Why have their wounds not been treated and the blood stopped?" she asked in an undertone, glancing from him to the two men.- - - - - - - - - - Sarai took the lead effortlessly when the man offered it to her, even though she had never danced before a single day in her life, enjoying herself quite thoroughly. These humans were not as overwhelming as some other things had been to her, and she only occasionally would sway a bit as something took her by surprise. She was having fun for the first time in several weeks.OOC: Just remember that you asked for it. XD

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The mage was just leaving the barn when Jia stopped him. Sticking his hands in the sleeves of his robes the man bowed his head. The one that offended your honor is expected to recover. But the older brother that came to his defense is not fairing as well. The medicus cannot stop the bleeding. It is rare, but such blood diseases exist. Though they are hereditary. Passed on from father to son. My magic has no effect. I am no healer mage. Mine, is the study of combat. All we can do is make the boy comfortable for his passing. He shall not survive the night." The last sentence the mage spoke held a hint of contempt as if in his oppinion the mans death was her fault. Wordlessly he passed her by.
The younger brother that tryed to force himself onto Jia earlier held his dying older brothers hand on the table next to him. "I'm sorry brother." The boy said with honest regret. "Its should be me there" He evidently sobered up since there last meeting. "I always was the one that got us into trouble. And there you always were to bail me out. Dont die Ryn. A little thing like this cant kill you" his brother though was no longer among the living. The medicus nearby came over and put his fingers on the mans neck. Shaking his head the medicus took the sheet of cloth near the older brothers feet and pulled it up to cover the dead body leaving the youngest of the siblings to cry in his arms over the body. It was the way the world worked. The innocent perish instead of the wrong. A hard learned lesson. But the younger brother would learn from it.
When those playing the music took a break the mystery man led Sarai off to the side. "You dance exceptionally well." He said. "I take it this is not your first time. As they were next to the kegs the man took the time to pour himself a pint of Atakai's famous beer. He raised the mug but before he drank the man stopped. "Oh dear" He said with honest regret. "How rude of me. Would you care for something to drink as well miss?" OCC: Well Sarai may come to like the man who I may make into a char later. As my mom says. It takes two to tango. So Sarai cant place the blame soley on him. At the very least it may prove entertaining. Especially if Jia challanges him to single combat to defend her daughters honor. My slayers are noble as knights in that respect. I wonder again what Sarai would do if the mystery man defeats Jia in the duel time and time again but refuses to strike the killing blow to end it?

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia was saddened to hear the news and sighed. She had heard the contempt in his tone but decided to ignore it. A lot of people viewed her that way, but she had her opinions on things and she stuck by them. She listened to the sounds of sobbing and thought that it must be the younger brother. Her heart tightened. Maybe she had been too harsh. She knew the importance of family. She rounded the corner and watched the younger brother, feeling tears come to her eyes. She hesitated, unsure of how the young slayer would receive comfort coming from her. Maybe she could make sure that his now deceased brother would rest in peace. For now she just watched.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai smiled up at the man and chuckled at his comment. She waited patiently as he got a drink. She missed the tone of his voice and laughed lightly at his offer, her eyes sparkling,"I would at that, kind sir." she said
OOC: Get ready for the fireworks....lol

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The man smiled and gave Sarai his cup and then poured one for himself. He did not know why. But he found this woman to be just about as intoxicating as the drink he was about to have. Perhaps it was her personality? Or perhaps because she was the first real contact with the opposite gender he ever had. He had been out once before with the slayers. It was how he got the claw scar on his face. But aside from this adventure that was it. The grandmaster of the Dragon slayer order kept him for the most part at the acadamy. He was raised there since his birth. Thinking back on it the man figured it was all because of his father. Being the bastard child of the king and all. And the man knew he was not the only one. The king of this country had sired many children over the years of his rule. The man was a prince in title. But of importance it was safe to say he was at the bottom of the ladder when it came to the royal family.
With a mug of his own in hand the young slayer raised it and said. "To the health of you and all your kin" With that compliment the man drank. He did not even get halfway through before the music started again. "Here brother, hold on to this" The mystery man said and handed his mug to a fellow slayer standing nearby. OCC: So do you want to time skip to morning?

OOC: Sure.IC: Sarai smiled up at the man and let him lead her back out onto the dance area, more than eager._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Sarai shifted in her sleep, rolling over onto her side. She felt something sharp poke her in the cheek, waking her up. She cracked open her eyes, then stretched her arms above her head and arched her back. Her spine popped and cracked down the entire length and she felt luxuriously limber afterward. She was covered in a blanket, though nothing else, and she felt someone lying close next to her. A man. She pursed her lips, then shrugged. She remembered little from last night, probably due to the wheat beer. Everything was fuzzy. Her mother would probably be furious though. She closed her eyes and sighed, rolling back over and cuddling up to the male that probably was still asleep.OOC: If that is not what you had i mind then I can edit.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
OCC: No this will do very nicely
IC:
The nameless man stirred for a moment after Sarai cuddled with him. Stirring some more he rolled onto his back and tryed to open his eyes. But the sunlight from a crack in the barn ceiling hit the man in his eyes. "By the gods my head..." The man groaned. Rubbing his bloodshot eyes the man grunted. "Where am I?" He mumbled again in the afterlife of his hangover. He honestly could not remember anything after the dance with a blind woman with unequaled buety. "I'm never going to drink again." The man vowed. What was I thinking?" By this time from all the poking of the straw he relized he had nothing on. Just as the day he was braught into the world by his mother.
Finally noticing Sarai the man stared at her for a moment in confusion with his bloodshot eyes and then lifted the blanket that covered the both of them to confirm what he thought. "Oh" He said rather calmly. Looking back at Sarai he managed to say the only thing that came to mind. "Uh, goodmorning" With another groan he lied back down and let her cuddle with him. The damage was done. This was not what he had planned. "I had planned to lose my innocence with my one true love on my wedding night" The man thought. "Not like this... not with a stranger with no name" In his mind he had dishonored himself. Looking back over to her he at least would try to to correct what he could. "My name is Druak Kadaj at your service miss. And you are?" He hoped that by knowing her name they would be strangers no more.
"I dont remember last night" He said. "Did" He paused. "Did, I perform well?" This question was more for his pride if anything. "I hope I did not cause you any discomfort if I did. This is my first time with a woman" Sighing the young man with a dragon claw scar across his face looked back to Sarai. "If anything happens I vow on my honor to do the right thing. You will be taken care of. Of this I swear" In this comment he ment if she grew heavy with child in the next coming months.
Nearby in the barn where most of the slayers came to collapse for the night in there drunken stupor Mahari also was starting to stir. But alone unlike Sarai. Like her lover last night he to was cursing the gods in the many tounges of different races he knew for the pain in his head.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai had to chuckle quietly at the man. Once he had laid back down, she laid her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. She pursed her lips,"Good morning indeed." she almost purred, but managed to refrain from actually doing so. As he introduced himself as Druak Kadaj, and also asked for her name in return, she pondered telling him the truth, that she was a dragon, but at the last moment decided not to. No reason to scare the daylights out of him,"My name is Sarai, Druak Kadaj." she sat up, holding the blanket up to her to hide her front. She looked down at his as she spoke, no heat or anger visible in her pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey eyes. She smiled warmly at him, trying to let him know he could relax,"I don't know how you performed. This is my first time with a man." she said. She shrugged to try and make no big deal about it,"And I thank you, Druak. I only fear that my mother will want to defend my own honor once she finds out....She was raped when she was young, which is what produced me. She has very strict and harsh opinions about the integrity of a woman." she explained, so that Druak would understand when her mother literally flew into a rage.
OOC: Rathon was wondering if he could join in with Ka to help restrain Jia from murdering anyone? XD

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
The man wondered if the blind woman would tell him her name. He relaxed a bit after hearing her name. "Sarai. Very pretty. Now that we know each others names, we are no longer strangers". Smacking his lips the man tryed to get rid of the cottom dry feeling in his mouth. "And please" He added afterward. "Call me Kadaj. My name is far to annoying to say the whole thing. Watching Sarai sit up and cover herself it left hardly any sheet left to cover him. Standing up shamelessly revealing all, had she not been blind, the man stretched and then sighed. "Your mother would be entitled to her anger. I have been raised to be abstinent until marriage. I have failed. In my acts I have shamed myself in breaking that vow. I would accept your mothers wrath. And the responsibilitys that came from our... encounter." Kadaj would not have been so calm about it had he known what her mother was. True he had a scar across his face showing he battled a dragon. But the truth was. That battle he lost. To face a dragon again would more then likely end in the same way. And unlike the last dragon that had the gift of foresight for a mans future and spared him. Jia would probably kill him.
Kadaj slowly got dressed and went to the tedious task of putting back on his armor. First the chain mail. Then the plate mail over it. Slinging the strap of his shield with the crest of the royal family he was born into Kadaj started to reach for the belt with his sword but paused. "Will I need my sword when I speak to her?" He asked. Somehow he already knew the answer. Kadaj figured an elven woman like her mother would have no second thoughts about killing him since they thought so little of humans.
OCC: Why not? Kadaj might need it. He is a weak human. But humans do have a tendency to surprise you. ^^ Oh the shame Jia would suffer to lose a fight to the man that wronged her family. In her eyes at least.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai smiled gently at Kadaj, dipping her head in thanks of the compliment to her name,"Very well, Kadaj." she murmured in ascent. She sensed him stand up with her powers. She felt the urge to blush, but she twitched her lips and managed to keep her skin the same ivory as before; it seemed silly to blush after what had transpired last night. She rose an eyebrow at him,"She would not hesitate to cut you down in a moment, were she given the chance." she commented dryly. Her lips pursed again at his promise, and she dipped her head to him in gratitude,"I thank you, Kadaj. Perhaps that one little promise to me will make mother pause in her wrath." She stood, letting the sheet drop to her feet - What was the point of it? - before going about getting dressed in her black trousers and red scoop-necked tunic. She finished slightly before he did, and waited patiently for him. She raised an eyebrow again as she sensed the crest on the shield. How quint. She was the daughter of Shruikan, he the son of Galbatorix. She couldn't help the smirk that pulled at her lips, though she hid it when he looked at her with and asked his question. She crossed her arms over her chest,"Don't wear it. Mother will be vengeful, but she will not kill a defenseless man." she assured. Her expression softened then,"I am sorry. This was not entirely your doing. I was...quite willing. For that I beg your pardon." she murmured, and lowered her head to him.
OOC: Okay, he say's he'll jump in after this post as soon as he can. Btw, if you do want Sarai to have a son/daughter, you'll have to be the one to make the bio. I'm okay with it. I have enough characters as it is. XD

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
OCC: Perhaps later. He does not even have a bio.... yet. Lets just say Sarai was lucky this time. His seed did not take root in the fertile fields to sprout life. To say it as nicely as possible.
ICC:
Kadaj listened to Sarai's words. Something he did not know. Few ever did. "She is your mother. You would know best" He said with a voice of just a hint of doubt. When he layed down his sword and shield it seemed he overcame the said doubt. Turning back to the blind woman he listened to her and reached out a hand to gently take her by the chin and raise her head. "You are" He paused for a moment then added. "Far to buetiful to show your face only to the ground. If you were willingly" The man paused again in thought before saying this time with effection and a smile. "Then perhaps it was ment to be and I have not shamed you or myself" Odd the man said her first before himself in that sentence. Humans were stereotypically self centered beings.
The man took what he assumed Sarai's shawl that she missed and with care put it around Sarai's neck. "I only wish I could remember last night. I have no doubts now I would have enjoyed it. Perhaps at another time and place once I have earned your mothers blessing" He paused and said cheekily. "I can rise to the occasion so we may do it again". Looking to the door his voice became saddened. "I only hope your mother is not controlling of you. You are a grown woman who can decide her own fate." If Sarai did not realize it by now Kadaj was an important part of her life. This was a pivotal moment.
Sarai was bound by the chains of her mothers will. Forever a slave to it. If Kadaj died before her mothers wrath. Sarai would never be free..... and if she came to his defense and defied her mother. Perhaps, Sarai would earn her freedom.
"Ok then" Kadaj said with intrepidation. "Time to face your mother" Taking Sarai by the hand with the armored glove of his right hand Kadaj added. "I would gain more strength for the task if you were there by my side Sarai" Here it would be dicided if he would walk this path, alone.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai's cheeks turned lightly rosy at his compliment. She smiled at him, the motion making her eyes soften and light with....something,"Perhaps it was. Only time will tell." she murmured in response. Her smile warmed even more as he helped put her shawl around her neck and shoulders. A pleased smirk slid across her face for a moment, and humor made her eyes glitter, but both expressions vanished when she turned around to look at Kadaj. Her lips twitched,"My mother does not control me, she is merely...overly protective, because of what she herself was put through." and that was the truth. She did what she wanted. But she almost laughed at his words of her being 'a grown woman'. Even in elven years, the age that she appeared to be (17) was considered a child. In draconic years, she was considered a baby. Only in human years was she considered almost an adult. But she acted like neither a child nor a baby. She dipped her head again slightly when he said it was time to face her mother. She was surprised though when he took her hand in his. She smiled warmly at his request. She bowed her head to him, then lifted her gaze to his,"I will stand by you." she said simply.

Jia knew where her daughter was. She knew who was with her daughter. She closed her eyes, and when she reopened them they were glowing green-gold. She stood, her body almost vibrating with the anger, no, the rage that rolled off of her in waves. The rule for a dragon was never to actually piss them off beyond their control. Better to never piss them off at all. That rule had just been broken twice over. Magic radiated from her in bubbles, passing through things and people harmlessly, which was lucky for them. She stalked toward the barn, her lips peeled back from her teeth in a vicious snarl that would have rivaled an Urgal's. Energy crackled along her glowing ivory skin. She was so angry she saw red across her vision. She tasted metal on her tongue, smelled it with her nose. Her fingers twitched toward the dagger on her hip. She was so completely absorbed in her rage, that she did not feel a familiar presence tickling at the back of her mind.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Get back here you dirt bag! Came the call of the guard, seargent Willard. He, and 5 of his men, were on horse back chasing a hooden man. This man had been accused, wrongfully, of stealing meat from a butcher shop and a sword from a black smith. The man was keeping ahead of the horses, but just barely. He needed a hideout. Thinking fast he cut into a field, the guards following him. However, they lost sight of him in the feild. The man came out from the other ade of the feild, the guards still looking for him, and ran to a nearby barn. He entered threw a side door and nearly ran into a pair of bodies. With a hasty "excuse me" he quickly jumped into the hay the pair had just been in just as the guards burst threw the side door. have either of you seen a man come in here? he asked sternly. But before either could answer, someone called from outside and the guard turned and left. A few seconds after, the man came out of the hay. His hood had come off by now, revealing his face. Sarai would know him as Kale, or Ka, Hinote Karite, Kadja would know him as, well he probably wouldnt know him. Ka brushed some straw from his pants and hair and looked up at the two. thank you for now ratting on me, I really didnt do anything. It was all just a mis....Sarai? Is that you? he asked, finally noticing who it was. what are you doing here with him.... he asked, but putting two and two together before an answer could be given. At the same time, he finally noticed Jia's presense on the other side of the door, his face paleling when he felt her anger. if you're both here for why I think you are, I would advise not going out the front door. Go out the back instead. Hurry. he said and stepped around them to meet Jia when she oppened to door.
ooc: sorry for grammer and spelling, I was forced to reply using and iTouch... Its not normally this bad lol

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Kadaj was caught off guard as a hooded figure appeared and jumped into a pile of hay. The events passed to quickly for the confused slayer to even respond. No sooner then the intruder appeared city guards from Osirus came barging in. Seeing all the drunk slayers laying about snoring loudly all about the barn. Some, even half hanging from the railings of the floor above must have turned them off Kadaj figured. "Out with you now" Kadaj said to the hay pile. When the runner came out it was clear he knew Sarai and pieced two and two together after seeing them. All Kadaj could do was rub the back of his neck in embarassment.
"Now hold on a minute" The proud Kadaj protested. "I will not go slinking out the backdoor like a allycat. I will do the right thing and confront her" Mahari was up and about by this time and had figured what had happened between Sarai and the young uknown slayer. If not by the two of them holding hands. Then by the smell that carried in the air. Coming to stand with Sarai's friend Mahari added. "Just go. You have no idea what you have done boy."
Kadaj's face held a look of both surprise and a bit of insult. "Boy?" He asked. Something pulled him out of his focus on Mahari. He was not sure if Sarai and pulled his hand but it did not matter. "Fine then" The youth replyed in defeat and while holding Sarai's hand led his blind partner out the back door.
Mahari looked to the Kale and said with not much optimism. "You must be Ka. Jia has spoke much of you. I only wish our first meeting could have been under better circumstances" Sighing Mahari stood side by side with him. "Bloody hell this is not going to be pretty"
Now outside in the back Kadaj was greeted with more of his drunk brothers and sisters of the slayer order all lying about in a stupor. Last night apparently was one hell of a party. "I have no idea what do now since we cant confront your mother" Kadaj said to Sarai. "Any ideas?" He asked her and looked to his horse hitched to a wooden stand not far away. "Running seems so cowardly and dishonorable" He commented on some silent thought.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai tensed when she recognized the size and step of Ka, the Rider of her mother, Jia, when she was in her true dragon form. She bit her lip and looked away from him. Once Mahari joined in she felt thoroughly cowed. She tugged gently on Kadaj's hand, toward the back end of the barn. Reluctantly he went ahead of her and led her out. She let him; he didn't know anything about her powers.
- - - - - - - - - -
Jia snarled as she caught a familiar scent behind the barn door, not of her daughter, but of someone else that she held even closer to her heart. She pulled back the barn door and was definitely not expecting to see Ka, her Rider, or Mahari in his human form, standing there. Her blazing teal-green eyes cooled slightly at the sight of them, though not much,"Get. Out. Of. My. Way." she bit out to them between clenched teeth. She didn't want to hurt them, but her daughter had been dishonored, and she planned on defending that honor. There was no way in the nine levels of Hell that she would let any male get away with touching her daughter, of any species. Her hands trembled with rage as she took another step toward Ka, for it was him that she actually had to get past,"He has taken what was not his to take, Ka. Let. Me. By." she snarled angrily at her Rider. She wouldn't hurt him, not on purpose. She stayed where she was, glowering at Ka, ivory skin glowing with power, eyes blazing with it. She was very, very close to Changing to her draconic form, but from lack of concentration and of desire to crush the one that had dishonored her daughter underneath her paw like the insect he was.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka was surprised to see Mahari there as well. Jia had spoke of him some; enough for Ka to know what he looked like. "And you must be Mahari. Jia has spoken some of you as well, and I agree...this will not be fun. He winced slightly as Jia opened the door. He could feel her anger clear as crystal threw their link. He saw her power radiating off her skin in the elves form she had taken, as well as in her teal-green eyes. "Jia...I know, and I will not let you pass, not until you calm down. I don't want you hastily killing someone without thinking, you know you would come to regret it later. He said, not moving from her an inch. "Now, I don't want to, but if you insist on trying to get past me, I will stop you. You can be mad at me all you like, but I will not let you hurt him. I saw him when I came in here, hiding from the guards. He did not look the type to simply take advantage of young females, he looked nobler than that and you know how well I read people." Ka had a knack for being able to glance at someone and know what kind of person they were; body language, eye movement, clothing style, and how well the kept them selves all contributed, but what helped most was how they spoke, and he had heard the boy's voice and it didn't sound like someone who used women. But he had been wrong before. "Now please..Jia...calm down, even just slightly, so that you don't do something you might regret." He pleaded with her, trying to get her to come to reason.
